The Underground refers to the subterranean network of sewers, catacombs, and passageways located beneath the city of
Aelyria Prime. It is also a term used to generally describe the various elements of organized crime -- the religious cults, rebellious bands, and ambitious insurgents -- squatting or otherwise dwelling within said regions. The Underground is physically composed of numerous municipal works and ruins, some dating back to
Hriemalis before the founding of
Colonia. It is not to be confused with the term
Underworld.
