The term "Triad" in Ethgan'torian usage refers to the upper tier of Esh'lahier nobility, consisting of the Houses Linalantava (the current
Sun House), Yeranthas (the current
Star House), and Areth'ya (the current
Moon House). They are the oldest, most ancient, and highest revered families in Esh'lahier culture, as their ancestral leaders of Linelen, Bel'thanan of Yeranthas, and Aria of Areth'ya were the original instigators of the Esh'lahiers' betrayal of the
Vysstichi during the
Great Divide and have henceforth been considered the Pale Elfs' unquestioned rulers.
The power of the Triad is undoubted; they have, and always will for the foreseeable future, control every aspect of the city of Ethgan'tor by right of blood and tradition. By law, their members are the only possible successors to the Crown, and they rule Ethgan'tor with an iron fist, keeping sycophants and whispers of insurrection far at bay.
Their positions are named Sun, Star, and Moon to represent the Esh'lahier reference for light, as it represents the supremacy of the God
Ioannes over all, and, most importantly, their own embrace of the way of the
Sacred Three.
