New OOC'ly Thread, ALL Zinn players please.

Right…

Guess your saying hello to the new Zinn’Sunn GM, in the manner of all such threads…come yell in my ear (PM me) if you need or want anything.

As for the business of sorting the city out and trying to get more activity:

I am aware of

http://www.alleria.com/forums/showth...threadid=44065

and the IC’ly thread following on from it but I have absolutely no time scale for all of this. So I’d appreciate it if someone familiar with Zinn could prop everything into perspective for me, what events are happening that I need to know of, what plots were active or left off? What was unfinished?

I’ve read the realmcraft thread and a new one will go up after I get things straight in my head, for now though I need to ask for your patience while I decide what’s going on.

Regards,
Labyrinth.

Helloo! Welcome to the city! I've only just returned from a hiatus of a few months myself, so I don't really have much to fill you in on. From what I understand, the appearance of a burnt city is a glamour, and the thing's actually whole underneath it all. That comes from Honets stuff with Fist in that main thread there, and from the wee little bit I got in my thread (winter in the new city). Fist, I believe, was the only one who knew it all, or where he intended to go with it.

Just a question - pretty please don't think I'm nagging, I'm perfectly amiable whatever the answer - but, should I be expecting any reply at all to my 'Winter in the New City' thread, or shall I just take it elsewhere and attempt to close it up neatly as dead, with Fist's departure?

Welcome, Laby.
I have no idea what Fist had planned, but as you can tell, not much was really happening. I had to take some time off, and will still be VERY limited in posting for a while. Fist pretty much closed down the old city and seemed to be trying to establish a new one on the perimeter of the old Zinn'Sunn. My PC entered the "old town" in The Refining of Zinn'Sunn, and Quubu was sneaking in here. I'd like to continue my PC's investigation and exploration of the old town, and later get involved in the revival of the old town. I also hope to finish my Journeyman training at the Academy (grandfathered) and pursue Master training after that. I'll probably have a few things to add in the Realmcraft when you get that going, too.

Old town? you see this is where I fall down Honets, I need someone with some experience with Zinn'Sunn like yourself to explain the old city and the new one and how things work, what I can change or should and what I cant

I'm more than happy to continue your threads but I hesitate to without more information.

As far as I can tell, no one but Fist new where he was really going with all of these, so you could probably alter it as much as you pleased.

Old town is Zinn'Sunn as it was until about two months ago, when the whole thing got burned down. Now, it appears to be a smoking ruin. No one is allowed in - guards stand about it to prevent entry. New town is the settlement that's sprung up all around the old town, from all the refugees who survived the fire, which was just about everyone. The government at the moment is the old Monastery folk, from the spot where the fire first started. That thread is here.

From what I understand, however, things aren't as simple as they seem. Something's afoot, as Honets and Kumi have discovered. Both have managed to get into the Old City, and both have discovered that nothing appears to be damaged at all. T he city is, in fact, utterly whole. The smoking ruin is a mass illusion.

That's what I believe has happened so far. From there, I don't think it matters where we take it.

Laby-

I wrote most of this up while offline, before I saw Kumi’s post, so forgive repeated information. Kumi's info looks right to me, and I agree that it is pretty much wide open as to where you want to go. I’ll try to give you some (unofficial) background. I’m sure to leave a lot out, and get some things wrong, so anyone with something to add or correct should feel free to do so.

Old town = Zinn before the “fire”. It was the “City of Music”, which I think is a vitally important aspect to retain. There was only one inn (by GM decree – Wizdom’s I think) after the Undead army was defeated – the Sage & Song. Before that I remember only one other, The Wolfmoon Inn. (One inn seems ridiculous in a city of Zinn’s size and should definitely be changed.) (~*2 cents deposited*~) There were very few active shop/store/business threads of any kind, especially recently, due to IC events and player/mod abandonment, which made it sometimes difficult to role-play living in Zinn’Sunn.

Recent history: A year or two ago, the city was attacked by an Undead army led by a Necromancer witch. The citizens armed themselves and were fighting the Undead without much help from local military forces. They might have defeated the Undead anyway, but victory was assured when a (small?) force of Thaumaturgists from Mystique showed up. The leader of that force killed the witch and became Thane(I don’t remember his full name, but his last name was Herne, and his first name started with a ‘G’.). The new Thane disbanded the Guard (I forget their name) and outlawed weapons for anyone but the city’s police. My PC objected and met with the Thane to discuss the matter. An unknown assailant tried to murder the Thane at the end of the meeting, just as fires broke out in the main governmental buildings. My PC saved the wounded Thane, but ended up being accused of trying to murder him. Honets proved his innocence to the injured Thane’s son (Glefton? Herne), who had shown up to see his father and the son ended up being granted the title of Thane himself during his father’s incapacity.

At one point, just after Zinn’Sunn declared itself a haven for Fae, it seemed possible that Julos might attack the city. Every citizen was given the opportunity to take a blade and armor from a very substantial supply at the gates of the city, and introductory training was also offered free to all takers. There was no attack (and also no IC follow-up to the arming and training of the citizens that I remember.) At the same time that weapons and armor were supplied, there was talk of a ‘secret’ (military?) group called the Sword Singers that was going to reveal itself at a celebration. Thane Glefton Herne was an officer in that group, and I know that Toshi was invited to join them, and had a thread dealing with that. He can give you more background and the links for all of that, I’m sure.

In his original Herald article about the fire, Fist had the entire city destroyed by fire. That was amended in a follow-up article which said that the “fire” was mostly illusion. I believe it was definitely determined that Thane Glefton Herne died in the fire. The “new” city is the collection of tents and quickly raised buildings set up by the citizens who fled Zinn and have not returned. I have to say that I don’t understand why the people wouldn’t be coming back into the “old” town, but they weren’t. The temporary leader of the city (not the Thane) is a monk from the monastery who set guards at the gates of the old city to keep people from re-entering the old city.

I think you can do just about anything you want with the city. Accentuate the differences between Old Zinn and New Zinn, or combine them somehow, or get rid of one or the other (by decree or innovative plot twists.) You’re the GM. It’s your call. The mystery about the "fire illusion" should supply a few good threads, and Pirvan's claiming of the Governorship in nearby Frigid River some more. Zinn is right between FR and Mystique, but has much closer historical/trade/political ties with Mystique than with the small mountain town of FR. There's plenty of things to get PC's involved in, in addition to the development of details about New vs. Old Zinn's make-up. I’d say write up some possibilities in the Realmcraft and see what people say. (~*2 more cents deposited*~)

BTW - There is a wonderful map created by Wizdom of Zinn'Sunn in the Aesthetika. The districts were re-named after the Undead army attacked. This map was made before that event.

I will PM some private plans/ideas/thoughts later this week.

Plenty of things to get PC’s involved in…if Zinn had any *Sighs* alright, not anyones fault, but its still demoralizing. I have a few plans though; you’ll see a Herald article up for comment shortly within a week I suppose to try and get more involvement.

Realmcraft ideas are always helpful but mainly I want to try and re-open the ‘proper’ Zinn ASAP, since I personally don’t think a hoard of tents can offer a realistic and fun environment for RP or maintain the ‘city of song and music’ theme.

Thus we’ll see how things go. Although i'd like players involved in threads related to the last bits of Zinn to take them back up again if possible.

Hopefully this is a good place to intrduce myself to Zinn'Sunn. Ive rpg'd for years on paper but never ol. Apperantly I have generated a brand new Kemite male with aspirations of being a Kensai. I've got 500cr to start training, is there anyone willing to train me. Or should I start a seperate thread

*Shrugs* In the end posting several times a week doesn't mean the training will go any faster.

Well id much rather be able to role play and have an oppurtunity to post a few times a week. Rather then waiting three weeks for a single post, as I like to keep rythm in what I do.

But that never really answered my question about Ataa training, do you guys have that in this province?

Well... I'm sorta back, after an uber-long hiatus... And now I'm a little confused about what's happened. I've read Honet's summary of what happened in the past, but what's happening now? Are we still in tents outside? Ahh... so lost...

Also, I had some training going on in the Music Academy... would it be possible to continue that? And I had a little job there too. Anyway, sorry for being so... confused If anyone could fill me in it would be greatly appreciated!
