Acadamy - Notice to Potential Students

We are pleased to announce that the Zinn'Sunn Acadamy will be participating in the restoration of Arcana to the World of Telath. We have dispatched several staff members to attend a conferance at the Acadamy of Magical Arts and Sciences in Alleria Prime and they will be back to kick off a new curriculum in the coming weeks.

In light of the recent and positive turn of events, the Zinn'Sunn Acadamy has revised its course listing. Advanced regisitration is now open for the following classes.

Techniques of Spellcasting: This is a required sequence for all students who wish to study magic. Lecture format.

TS 101 – Meditation. The basic technique for casting any type of spell. Students will learn to clear their thoughts and gain a better awareness of the arcana around them.
TS 102 – Focus and Channel. Students will learn the more advanced techniques for gathering the arcana needed for proficient spellcasting.
TS 103 – Dispell. Once and understanding of how spells are cast is obtained students will learn to undo arcana that is constructed into a spell.

TS 201 – Circle of Magic. Students will learn to create magical circles which can be used to bind inside or keep outside.
TS 202 – Activation. Students will learn to harness the arcana inside imbued objects and activate and deactivate them upon command.
TS 203 – Mana Shape. Students learn the basic techniques of combing and personalizing spells.


Arcane Ikos: For those that wish to learn to cast magical spell though written symbols.

IKS 101 – Allerian Translation and Penmanship. Students begin their study to understand the written language of the Ancient Allerians. They also practice writing every rune they will use this year.
IKS 102 – Gesturing. Students will take what they learned in the previous class and apply it to hand waving as a second means to casting spells.
IKS 103 – Initiate Ikos Spellcasting. Students learn to use the written glyph and gestures to practice the spells on the accepted Initiate Ikos Spell List.

IKS 201 – Allerian Scribery. Students learn more advanced runes and prases. They learn how to scribe runes into spellbooks and simple prose writing.
IKS 202 – Gestures Through Objects. Students will learn to gesture their spells through wands, staves, or other devices.
IKS 203 – Apprentice Ikos Spellcasting. Students will put into practice the spells on the accepted Apprentice Ikos Spell List.

Arcane Mysticism: For those that wish to learn to cast magical spells though power of the mind and psionics.

MYS 101 – Understanding the Mind. Students will begin to understand the force that will both control and be a target of their new abilities.
MYS 102 – Intro to Illusion. Students will be taught about illusions and have a beginning knowledge of the astral plane.
MYS 103 – Initiate Mysticism Spellcasting. Students learn to use their skills to practice the spells on the accepted Inititate Psionic Spell List.

MYS 201 – Imagination Techniques. Students will learn that their own mind is their only limiting factor and how to expand it.
MYS 202 – Intro to Psionic Energy. Students will take first step into understanding the effects of physically manifested psionic energy.
MYS 203 – Apprentice Mysticism Spellcasting. Students learn to use their skills to practice spells on the accepted Apprentice Psionic Spell List.

Arcane Sorcery: For those that wish to learn to cast magical spells by taking direct control of Arcane energy.

SOR 101 – History of Arcana. An intro to how arcana works and manifests itself. An in depth study of the Aethergem and its downfall is included.
SOR 102 – Manipulation Techniques. Students will learn the basics of controlling arcane energy and turning it into magical power.
SOR 103 – Initiate Sorcery Spellcasting. Students learn to use their skills to practice spells on the accepted Initiate Sorcery Spell List.

SOR 201 – Seeing Force. Students learn to visualize the mana-matrix and see the arcana in their minds that they are manipulating.
SOR 202 – Intro to Teleportation. Students learn about teleporting themselves without an anchor site.
SOR 203 – Apprentice Sorcery Spellcasting. Students learn to use their skills to practice spells on the accepted Initiate Sorcery Spell List.

Elective courses. These courses need not be taken in sequence but are limited by level of study. Only one elective course can be taken for each level of study.

EC 101 – Astrology. Students will learn the stars, the suns, and the way they move around the World of Telath.
EC 102 – Personal Spellbooking. Students will learn to journal their spells and aquire techniques that will help them to catalogue created spells later.
EC 103 – Intro to Potions. Students learn basic herbalism and alchemy skills to create basic household potions.

EC 201 – WeaponCasting. Students learn to channel spells trough swords, staves, or other weapons.
EC 202 – Identifying Magical Items. Students learn to identify the nature of simple magical items through learning to detect magical essences.
EC 203 – Care of Magical Beasts. Students will learn to identify and care properly for several different magical species.

All magic students will enrol in the TS sequence of classes as well as the courses related to their major. Students also have the option to enrol in one EC class per year. Prices are as follows.

TS classes = 100 crowns per class.
IKS, SOR, and MYS classes = 300 crowns per class.
EC classes = 150 crowns per class.

-- All prices include housing and meals for the duration and may be paid for either when each class beings or in one lump sum at the beginning of the term. Lump payments are given a 12% discount.

[Fa'rat Assum]

The shrin’s beady little eyes focused on the note that he could not recollect being there his previous visit. His gray eyes seemed to brighten the more he read. The new sphere known as Ikos confused Fa’rat, but it also forced him to rethink his decision. Cast magical spells through written symbols? Anyone that knew the Rodenti could understand his predicament. He had always had an affinity towards writing, mostly in forms of books but this new magic had its merits; especially in learning to understand an ancient language unknown to Fa’rat.


He stood there for what seemed like hours to the youthful shrin; all the while debating the pros and cons of what little information the note had provided him. At last he made his decision, the same decision he had made before his discovery of the new sphere. His studies would continue towards that of the mind. Although these new elective courses lead to a decision no less aggravating for the impatient creature.

The bright eyes narrowed as he read the prices of each course. How do they expect a shrin to pay these prices! Even before my wasted payment towards the previous lessons I could barely accept such. And I have nothing to show for that other than a 2000 crown uniform! That and a book I have yet to return.

Well… I won’t be completely out of funds if I decide to give this another attempt. That settled it, it always had. The shrin always guarded his possessions well, but he never did quite think very far ahead.

Just a notice that Game Masters are not yet authroized to teach the new arcana. When I say that we are taking advanced registrations, I do mean advanced. However, students are welcome to use the meantime to stay in their dorms and use the library and training ground facilities as registered students.

As of now there is no ETA as to when classes will open. Thanks for your understanding.

OOC: My PC will be here in a few days, once I get some fluid time allocated. I'm pretty sure Taralon, Prime, and Zinn'Sunn would be abusive of fluid time...that is, unless you think otherwise. So are you saying that PC's here get free lodging & meals for the mere cost of the class, and then a class to boot? Cool...

OOC: My PC will most likely be here once he gets himself established, and perhaps looks upon some job options. I just started this PC recently, so I'll likely be busy in the Aedile's for the next few days.

[Verminaard Nidus]

Verminaard breathes heavily as he climbs the stairs to the tower. This day has been one of the hottest he had ever seen. "Not a good day to wear a mask, but this is my curse." Verminaard reaches the doors and quickley enters in hopes of getting relief from the hot sun.
Verminaard finds that the inside of the tower is much cooler in tempreture than that of outside. Taking a quick glance around he is pleased at the sight of all the books. He approaches the desk and begins to speak with the secretary stationed there. "I am Verminaard Nidus. I wish to help in the revival of Arcana. I was hoping that you would be able to direct me so that I may begin my lessons as quickley as possible." Verminaard waits patiently but is eager for his instructions so he can begin in his learning of Arcana.

OOC: Change of plans. I'm moving to Mystique, henceforth I probably won't take training here, at least not soon. I may eventually though. I'll have to see in about 20 posts .
