Goldbrick Theater Complex and Gemma's Actor's Studio

About 200 years ago, a traveling actor named Brat Pittus visited Zerdargia and did some readings from the finest literature of the empire. The dwarven audience immediately recognized that acting was something which fed their souls and stimulated their minds. A young girl in the audience, Gemma Goldbrick, fell in love with acting that very day. Over the years Gemma researched Aelyrian literature and wrote plays, acting them out with her friends, brothers and sisters. Over time there grew to be a small, but active core of actors, who enjoyed playacting, poetry reading and other theater arts. The became know as "The Zerdargian Players." Gemma also started Gemma's Actor's Studio, where she trained actors. With the rebuilding of Zerdargia, room was set aside for cultural activities, and thus the Goldbrick's Theater Complex was built to encourage the cultural formation of those who wish to act, and present their plays to the citizens of the city of Zerdargia.

Gemma Goldbrick is a small woman, pleasingly plump, with bright red hair. She usually wears her long hair in a braid wound around her head. She loves red and usually is wearing a red dress with golden buttons up the front. She tries to watch her figure, so at 4'1", she weighs only 140 pounds. You will never see her without her face fully made up in stage makeup, with long black eyelashes, pink cheeks and full red lips. She adorns herself with the jewels befitting a matron of her class. Her diamond, ruby and sapphire rings glitter and shine. Around her neck she wears a thick golden chain, with a gold pendent with her initials encrusted with rubies and diamonds. She peppers her speech with words like, dahlin', and baby cakes.

Her assistant is a young human woman, named Jully. Jully was an orphan which the big hearted Gemma had adopted 20 eras earlier. Jully has short blond hair, is about 5'6" with a slim build. Jully loves to sew and now sews most of the costumes along with her staff of 2 halflings, Dolly and Darby.

The building itself is a tribute to Elias Goldbrick, her husband, a great architect in his own right. The shape is oval, with a large stage in the center. The seating area around the stage is made of seasoned pine, the benches covered in upholstered red velvet. The tall beams in the high ceiling are exposed giving the theatre a rustic look, but the outside is made of polished brown marble. The doorways are framed by golden lintels, bearing the carvings of flowers and trees. Inside the polished granite hallway huge lanterns light the way to the auditorium which has thousands of lamps framing the large theater.

In the back of the theater, are the offices of Gemma's Actor's Studio, along with classrooms of the Zerdargian Actor's Guild. Gemma is happy to welcome any new students and actors. Truly a matronly woman, she embraces all colors, races and creeds. Her big heart will welcome them all. Students and Players may join the Actor's Guild.
