GF: Patrolling for them badguys (Norin, GM Soldier)
2nd Cycle of The Month of Junctior in the Season of Autumn, of Era I of the Celestine Mandate
Era X Post Fractum in the Age of the Darkening, the Mageocracy of Julos the Mad Paradigm: Mystique Threatens Rebellious Frigid River
After returning back from their adventures and travels, Norin and Veleraen had both been assigned to each other on a routine patrol of the Zerdargian streets. They were both given their standard issue chainmail, dagger and longswords respectfully and sent on their way from the Veldar compound and out into the streets. Now being somewhat experienced soldiers in the field of battle and in the way of the Veldar, Norin and Veleraen, the very odd looking partners strode down the street.
It appeared to be a normal day in the city of Zerdargia, drunks staggering out of Omally's after a long hard night of drinking, their wives alongside them. Various vendors and merchants shop's set up along the sides of the streets, nothing seemed wrong, or atleast not yet. Scanning the streets, Veleraen looked overhead, keeping his keen eyes out for anything suspicious. Turning down to Norin, Veleraen grinned. "Well Norin, back to the grind eh? I'm sure this is just temporary until Setik can find something else for us to do." It was definitely a quiet morning that brightening as the pair went down the streets on their regular patrol, something they did too often...
OOC: Hey Norin, this is the patrol thread. If the TS is off for you I can always change it. GM Soldier said nothing but standard issue Veldar stuff, so no specially owned weapons. ^_^;;

The summer had been completely uneventful and Norin was more than happy to return to his duties within the Veldar Elite. It pleased him even more to spend time with Veleraen wandering through the city of Zerdargia, which he personally enjoyed very much. He was learning the whereabouts of every single building and almost knew the city as well as he knew his pocket.
During that dawn, Norin and Veleraen passed by the tavern and saw nothing but drunkards coming out of Omally's as usual. These were not just men but also women. At least, Norin didn't see any youths drinking themselves stupid. The duo continued through the streets and looked out for trouble by the many stalls that had been set up by the walls of the streets. There didn't seem to be anything wrong.
"I'm sure you're right. I mean, soldiers are not so needed here for the moment, low crime and no war. It's nice and peaceful." Norin turned around along with Veleraen and started their walk back to the compound still patrolling on their way there in case there were troublemakers out during the early candlemarks.
OOC: Wouldn't it be more logical if the Veldar were issued a standard weapon that everybody can use for I cannot use a longsword, or atleast I don't have any skill in it. It should be a dagger and a pike, the two weapons that all Veldar were trained in during their advance training. What do you say? Dagger and pike or a longsword?

Midnight/ early morning
The pair had followed their patrol northwestwards along the route of the Mainway, a road that if followed far enough would take them across Circle Drive, out of the gate and off to Primus Gaudeo
This task that they had been set, to patrol the city was something that the Town Watch was normally assigned to, but perhaps Setik had his reasons, and in truth it did no harm. A few more figures in Veldar Blue officially wandering the streets gave the public a great deal more confidence and the the Town Watch was sometimes stretched despite its five squadrons.
But the Mainway itself rarely needed the discipline of the Veldar, even the drunks that rolled out of Omallys, were harmless enough, though one or two rolled straight over and into the Raven Inn on the other side of the street.
Now they had started to wend their way back into the city, following the Mainway itself, headed back towards the the taverns. This part of the city was perhaps one of those parts most in need of patrolling for the Dead End, a warren of housing that came as close to being slums as was to be found in the city.
As they came to an intersection, the revolting smell of offal rolled down and into the main street. It was enough to stop even a seasoned traveller in his tracks, but any regular here would know it and recognise the source as the The Hang Man.
From here, back to the Compound was relatively safe and calm ground, so a choice of route was perhaps called for.

The pair weren't on any specific route that brightening, as Veleraen and Norin marched along, the thudding of the giant's boots giving him away at every turn. The giant rarely got to enjoy the duties of being a soldier, but that brightening he had a better feeling about it all. Perhaps it was because Aslan was looking down upon him as he walked about, but then again, it could've been because the giant had gotten a full twelve hours sleep the darkening before and a large, hot meal before it. Veleraen grinned to himself as he rubbed his stomach lightly and then yawned, still a little sleepy, how he was sleepy, was another mystery all together.
The pair walked up the Mainway and took a right at Circle Drive, taking them more west/northwest in direction. They had no intention of leaving the city, and soon they were more into the depths of Zerdargia than before. The awful smell of the slums had Veleraen cringing somewhat, as he always hated walking down this part of the city. Sighing, the giant turned to Norin. "Well, I guess we will have to do our job. What do you say Norin? Left, right or straight ahead?" The pair had come to an intersection of the main street and a pair of alleyways to the left and right. They could continue straight ahead and into the slums, or they could go around and patrol the outskirts. There were many ways to which the pair could go, and so much smell around, it didn't matter where they went, as it would linger for a while yet.

Norin followed Veleraen on the patrol, quiet most of the time, just enjoying the giant's company and the fact that they were back on patrol on such a nice brightening. Norin was trying to learn the streets of Zerdargia but he had not been in the slums yet. There were slums where he came from, the Hidden City, but they were hard to find and if you ever found them, rumorus told that you might never come out of them again. Norin felt a little uneasy in the slums and when Veleraen enquired what direction they should take, Norin was tip toeing and replied, "I don't like this place. Let's just go straight. Where I was born we were always told to stay away from the Slums. I guess that as Veldar Elites one of our duties is to patrol the slums aswell, although I fear that the villains here follow their own laws and do not care for what we have to say. Still, I want to know this place, I just don't want people to know my face here. That might become problematic in the long run."
And so, the giant and the dwarf made their way deeper into the dark slums of Zerdargia. The dwarf was just hoping that they would get a chance if they met some criminals. He hoped that they wouldn't be ambushed or overpowered by these villains. Norin stopped chatting with Veleraen as they made their way through the dirty slums. This was really ruining Norin's brightening, but he knew that eventually they would return to the Compound and that partially cheered up the dwarf who was looking around trying to memorise the area.

I can see that the directions are very muddled here. I think Norin misread Veleraens original post and I followed Norin. Now Vele has changed things again, so I have edited his post to change the direction, else you would be heading into the industrial area not the slums. Not a problem except that it doesn't match the posting so far here is a rough map I am using. I have a better one but not yet finished, so this will have to do. Feel free to comment on it in the Realmcraft as one or two locations are somewhat unclear.
Straight onwards left the alleyways behind, yet more would soon appear as would dark and uninviting streets that plunged into the dark heart of Dead End. Circle Drive carved its way throught he heart of the district and offered a modicum of safety, though at night even that safety was more apparent than real.
Ahead and to their left appeared the facade of the orphanage, and even as it became clearer so did two figures who were busy at the front door. A scrape of metal against wood echoed faintly down the now quiet steet accompanied by a curse. A soft voice followed it up. Come on, you will wake the dead at this rate. If you wake them then we aren't going to be able to get our hands on any of the little blighters are we?

Norin guessed what was going on although he had no proof of it. Didn't matter. He looked at Veleraen and prepared to sprint if the two figures noticed them. He stopped the giant and whispered "What do you think those two are doing? It sounds like they're trying to break into the orphanage." At this moment a soft voice followed a curse, saying "Come on, you will wake the dead at this rate. If you wake them then we aren't going to be able to get our hands on any of hte little bligters are we?"
As the sounds and the shadows had become apparent to the two Veldars, Norin tried to pull the giant guard into a close alley where they would still be able to look out at the entrance to the orphanarium. Norin did this so that the two shadows by the door would not easily notice the two guards who had spotted them.
"Sounds like they're going to kidnap some of the orphans. Should we intervene and arrest them, then ask them questions? Or should we let them go into the orphanage and catch them on their way out?" Norin didn't know what to choose. Why would someone kidnap orphans, for what purpose? If they were arrested without proof that they were going to kidnap the orphans, then there was nothing the Veldar Elite could do. However, if Norin and Veleraen didn't scare them away, they might actually succeed and get away, just like the dwarf Morli did once. Then again, if they scared them away, then they might just come back another night. Norin really needed some support from his fellow Veldar and hoped that the giant had a third solution.
OOC: Sorry for the late reply but I'm now ready to rejoin the Allerian community after a long holiday and two months of intensive studying at the university. I do have a few requests to Adder though. There are two threads I would like to know what I should do with. Should I just abandon them? Should I self mod them? Should I finish them? Will there be someone who will help me out with them? The first thread is "Search for Morli" while the second thread is "Murder in the Streets". Thanks Adder
PS: Nice Map... Finally something useful.
