Jabul's Gizmo Gadget Emporium (Self Mod)

OOC: This is a self mod shop thread. GM Soldier is letting me post it since I wrote it.

Jabul's Gizmo Gadget Emporium

Like most buildings in Zerdargia, the Gadget Emporium was made of nicely hewn stone, formatted into large square blocks stacked upon each other and mortared crisply between the fine lines. The precisions were quite accurate, and some of the stone had been sanded off to give the Emporium a rather circular look, somewhat in the means of a short tower. The stone gray bricks ran straight up from the cobbled roads of Zerdargia up to its cerrulean skies, two stories tall and consisting of a slate brown roof that rimmed the outter circumfrence of the tower. On the taller story were three windows, all of them pointing towards a different direction; the north, west, and south...never to the east, because the pitiful owner of the establishment enjoyed sleeping in and waking up late. It was just a characteristic that defined him best: lazy.

Since the building was a tower, there was not much room for exterior decoration. A few potted flowers of sky-blue hues had been placed outside the door, and lush green grass surrounded the tower as if it were a siege. A solitary elm tree stood in the front lawn, providing shade for any who wished to chat with the owner at the door of his shop. It stood as a sentinel over a small land, its protector and benefactor. A pebbled pathway branched off from the cobbled streets and sidewalks and winded around the tree, coming to a halt at the mahogany brown doors that bade entrance into this very fine establishment. Upon each were brass knockers. On the other side of the doors were tiny little silver bells that dingled whenever someone walked through the door, alerting the owner, manager, and clerk that someone had walked into his shop.

It was completely contrary on the inside. Compared to the lush, tranquil exterior the tower seemed to emit, the inside was complete chaos. Shelves fanned throughout the entire room, each one cluttered with a sort of gizmo, various simple tools that could not really be found anywhere. There were scales for measurement, rulers included, as well as small hammers, chisels, nuts, screws, bolts, and nails. Some shelves bore weird inventions, such as rings with containers, and other various things. One of them, highly prized by the estate's owner, was a sort of pendulum, that could be swung back and forth until it reached the tiny golden bell at the other end, a sort of way to tell time one could suppose, but for an entirely different purpose.

And there, sitting at the very back of the Emporium, hastily scribbling down measurements and calculations, was a small cheerful looking gnome. Large oval spectacles seemed to shrink the tiny pupils of his sapphire blue eyes. Dark grey hair curled to every end of each hair adorned his head, covering pale light skin. He wore flowering royal-blue robes, a white sash underneath. He was sitting on the desk itself, leaning over to write his tiny notes to himself. He greeted each visitor the same, and paid no special attention to anyone who entered his shop. "Serale, and welcome to the Gizmo and Gadget Emporium! What can I do for you today?" his cheerful tone rang through the air, yet still the Gnome paid no attention to his potential customer. He just continued to write, as if his guests were never there.

Niell hastily walked into the shop, stopping in early in the morning, closer to dawn than anything else, with the suns of Telath rising into their places of power, the confines of the cerrulean blue sky. The Gnome had hastily walked across the winding pebbled path that led straight to the doors of the establishment, opened those, and slipped inside before the shopkeeper could greet the customer with his usual greeting. In fact, Niell was already halfway across the establishment before he stopped and took note of what was around him. Gadgets and Wingets of all types, inventions of every sort were around him. Enough to fill his mind to the rim with ideas, enough to give the term 'food for thought' a whole new meaning.

"Erm..yes, Serale Sir. I was told by the University to come by here and collect my Gadgeteering Tool Kit...it was a part of the tuition fee," Niell spoke in a hushed tone, admiring the Gnome in front of him with a curious respect. He quickly ran a hand through the black shades of his hair, ruffling through the odd gray strand until it had the directional flow of the hair moving backwards instead of lopsided. A crescent smile broke out over his cherry-red lips as he stared pleasantly onwards, patiently waiting for an answer.

"Oi! 'llo there, nice te see a fellow 'Nome 'round these parts!" the cheerful Owner, Shopkeep, and Clerk of the Emporium spoke in a delightful tone of voice, dropping off the counter and shuffling behind it. He apepared minutes later with a large case, one that was almost twice the size as Niell himself! Luckily for the both of them, some knobby wooden wheels had been placed on an end of it, along with a handle at the other so it could be pulled somewhat like a wagon of sorts. Anotehr invention that made the world they lived in more comfortable and easier.

"This 'ere is yur standard Tool Kit. It contain's 'ammers, nails, bolts, screws, a metric ruler, some sheets of metal, a bit o' clay, an' some other bits of stuff that'll make life easier for the modern 'ventor. Good luck wit 'hat," the cheerful Gnome clerk as he passed on the wooden wheeled chest to the opposite Gnome standing before him. "An' if ye ever need 'elp wit something, I'll be mor' an' happy to 'elp you out or give advice!" the Owner called out as he waved the younger Gnome out of his store.

Paradigm-Post-Undead Attack Zerdargia

Janis plowed through streets of Zerdargia, he was tired, tired indeed. He did not have much more of a reason to stay within the city he faught so hard to protect. None except for this place he heard of, a gadgeteering shop. After using his crossbow for sometime, the major flaw in the weapon had become a realization to him. Speed was not in his favor. For a young and manuverable lad such as himself, this would not do. Janis thought on this subject a bit and had an idea, something he thought he remembered seeing, or hearing about, or perhaps it was merely his imagination but he thought it would work. He felt that with the help of a gadgeteer, this idea had a very good chance of becoming a reality.

Pushing open the door, Janis looked around a bit mesmorized by all the gizmos and gadgets, odds and ends, clicks and whirls, laying around him. Anyone who could make sence of all this higgletypigglety was quite clever in his mind. Very, well. He continued his way up to the counter and to no suprise saw a gnome sitting there pondering over what would probably be his next quite odd but useful contraption. The gnome acknowldeged his precense with his words but not with his action. Taking that as his que to talk Janis began.

"Ahem, well 'allo there master gnome, How are you this fine brightening. People call my Janis Windrough and I've been looking for a man..erm...gnome such as yourself, one who good wit all these gizmos and gadets and such. Pretty much, sir, I gots an idea. An idea to help me wit my crossbow." With that Janis slowly unholstered the weapon and placed it on the table in front of him. The weapon in medium size. It was no large and overbearing weapon, but it was no small assassins bow either. It was a size most efficiently handled with two hands but possible to maneuver with one. Not the most power or accuracy in the world but a nice medium of the two. He then continued with his talk. "Well you see master Gnome, I have noticed the problem with my weapon, its a bit...slow, I guess you can figure that much yourself. Well.." Janis seemed a little embarresed with the idea now, hoping it wasn't stupid or laughable. "Well...I got an idea, one ot make it a bit faster. I think with some work, a contraption of some kinda sort can be made, to load the arrows into the gun. A custom loader. I thought a bit on the idea and have some simple ideas on how it should work."

The Gnome looked up at Janis from his work and smiled. It seemed he would have very much fun either building this contraption or laughing in the face of the proposal. He picked up the crossbow on the table and began to examine it. Without looking at Janis he spoke more. "I have heard of such things however never built one myself. Speak of your plan." Without putting the crossbow down, Jabul perked up his ears and prepared to listen.
