What Goes Through the Worldforge?
Previously the Worldforge was designed to handle the flow of articles that would only go into our old Lore forums. With the advent of our new Wiki and in-game forums, the Worldforge has evolved into handle the inclusion of articles into both the Wiki and the game forums. Threads being posted in this forum should relate to the following three categories:
  • New location threads for the Telath forums.
  • New Wiki articles
  • Major edits to Wiki articles
This is a transitory workflow, with the goal to eventually open the Wiki up for people to add content on a freer basis. In the mean time, we wish for people to get a handle on what sort of content we are looking to include in the game.

The Creative Team
The Worldforge is overseen by a branch of the Aelyria Contributor Program known as the Lorekeepers. It exists to make sure that all players and contributors have all the tools and help they need to add new concepts and material to the game, while staying faithful to the spirit and continuity of the world of Aelyria. The Lorekeepers are selected and overseen by the Creative Director, who manages the flow of the articles and remains responsible for the design and overall content of lore on the site.

While interest in the Lorekeeper is presently appreciated, there is going to be an interim hold period on hiring new staffing members until the flow of the Worldforge and the lore has been set in stone.

Disagreements and problems within the Worldforge should be handled by contacting the Creative Director or posting in the Help Desk.

The Basic Development Workflow
  • Anyone is welcome to start a new discussion or draft surrounding the gathering of information for a new Wiki article or in-game location. The conversations within these threads, just like anywhere on the site, are expected to remain civili and respectful at all times.
  • The title of the thread should indicate a few things:
    • Wiki Article or Game location
    • Discussion, Proposed Draft or Final Draft
  • Once an article is ready for Final Draft, you will be notified of the matter. Final Drafts will be reviewed by the Creative Director and the author will, at length, be informed whether or not the article has been accepted. If not accepted, a reason to be given will be issued and the draft revisited for the errors/trouble.
  • Once accepted, the final draft will be moved to the appropriate location (Wiki or Telath).
Notes About Content
  • All city/town Wiki articles should adhere to the specified template, which can be found below.
  • ALL articles (wiki or in-game, without exception) should include credits to anyone who wrote the article, if there are multiple authors.

Article Standards

Any and all write-ups looking to be placed into Wiki that make use of coding that lends color to the article (such as the Frame or Color codes) will be asked to strip their coding down. An article will not be reviewed for approval until these have been removed (this does not go for articles that have already been submitted for approval, although the coding will be removed prior to being placed into the Lore, if approved).

The following tags should not be used in Wiki articles:
Frames: [frame][/frame]
Color: [color][/color]
Glow: [glow][/glow]
Acceptable codes of a non-colorful nature can be found on the BB Code List.

This decision was made after reviewing several factors: Creativity should be displayed through the content, not the coding; Colorful fonts may or may not show up in a readable manner on the different forum skins for the website; The use of frames and colors has become distraction from the content. While I can understand the appreciation of a colorful set up, it is simply not conducive to the direction of our content that we wish to take at this time.

Frames may be used for the In-Game locations going into the Telath forums but on a limited basis. We do not need to scar people's eyes with excessive, brightly colored frames. Black frames should be the standard and a simple white or default color for the location's text should be sufficient.

Also, I would like to remind folk about the following:

Images
All images must be approved for use on the website, receiving express permission from their source. They should be placed in a location on Aelyria itself and not stored off-site, using either the Gallery or the Albums in a person's account. Images should never be hot-linked, meaning they should not be linked directly to the site from which you are taking them, as it is a manner of bandwidth theft.

The use of images in articles should be kept to a reasonable number. That is to say, please do not overwhelm the text with numerous and/or large pictures.

Linking Off-Site
Please do not link to off-site locations in your Worldforge articles. This not only goes for images, but music and other websites as well. Everything in your article should be explained through your own personal text and not through linking to a demonstration.
