[Governor's Office] Offices and Residence of the Governer, Alicia Elsdragon
Timestamp: From 40th Aperitus, Summer, Era XIV
The Hall of the Governor might have been the official entrance to the offices currently occupied by the leader of the province of Centripax, but the actual realm of the Lady Governor was deep within the arched double doors at the end of the corridor. Outside a pair of blue-and-white-bedecked guards stood at alert attention to either side of the wooden frames. Their dress was both ceremonial and official in a blend of elegant formality and common practicality, as matched with the extent of their duties. They had been charged with both scanning the petitioners to the inner sanctum of the Governor as well as providing a symbol of the strength of the city of Primus Gaudeo and the province at large.
All walls, floors, and ceilings had been fashioned out of the cold white marble typical to the Concordia Incola district, although this particular stone seemed to shimmer with sheen of blue. In direct contrast stood the darkly stained wood of the front door, often seen to swing on their heavy hinges as the guards allowed yet another guest that had passed their thorough inspection into the Governor’s inner sanctum. Echoes of the footsteps of aides and other politicians resounded in the hallways before finding themselves muffled underneath the closure of the arched doors.
Inside the office, the feeling was of nothing except order. Alicia Gil'dae liked order, to the point that her desk was clear save for a small folder with this brightenings pending business in it. She had everything ina place and a place for everything.
There were numerous windows bedecking two out of four surrounding walls, all intended to bring in the fullness of the light allowed from the triple suns outside. A few elegant curtains, colored in a matching demure shade of blue, had been hung at either side of the panes of glass but found their shading abilities falling into a continual disuse under the preference of the office’s owner for the extreme amount of natural light.
The streams of illumination fell onto the surrounding four walls, broken into round pillars standing between the windows on the horizontal sides of the room. The wall directly before the entrance, however, had been dressed with only two windows on either side of the center expanse. Cold stone was replaced with the warmer tones of an expansive crest colored light and dark blue with the crowned flower of representing the province of Centripax. Underneath the Province’s motto, ‘Peace and Tolerance Shall Set Us Free,’ had been carved in elegantly-scripted letters and painted dark in the center of the embedded desk as a contrast to the pale colorings of its background wall.
Underneath the crest, the white-marble desk of the Governor stood in all its expansive glory, stretching four lengths further than one could reach with outstretched arms on either side. Its top was clear, shining and clean, showing a woman in complete control of her surroundings. A few fat cream candles sat on dishes of silvery metal in artfully arranged trios, although their original heights had been greatly reduced by late-darkening use.
The large arm chair usually found occupied by the personage of the Governor had been made in the overstuffed style and upholstered with a thick, velvety deep blue embroidered with threads of silver-grey. Matching sapphire chairs had been placed at equal angles before the desk itself and centered around a deeply-stained wooden table. The latter held a small tray of various empty glasses and half-filled bottles, all waiting to perform their duty of refreshment to any and all visitors. A few bookshelves, mostly carrying collections of leather-bound tomes of knowledge and the memories of the past deemed useful to the Governor’s usual doings had been set in carefully-arranged order in their appropriate sets. Little other decoration of the office could be seen, minus perhaps a few more collections of candles and their following candelabras placed in strategic areas of the room.
The Governor herself could usually be found working on a piece of parchment. Nothing save the piece of parchment currently being worked on was to be seen on that desk, and Alicia would have been horrified to have clutter anywhere in this room. A set of feathered quills rested in a crystal cup at her elbow, matched by an elegant dark ink well to aid her business of the brightening. Various aides and secretaries often made their way into the office, carrying important notices or information needing the Governor’s approval, or at least knowledge, immediately. Representatives from both Centripax and the Empire at large would often reside in the seats before the expansive desk, carrying on official conversations with the Lady Elsdragon.
She would prefer it should she be able to greet people, but in fact, that was something that was not hers to do any more. Instead, her aid, Manijor, would announce any who made it past the rigorous procedures to get in to see her, and Alicia would be standing and waiting. She was short for an elf, short indeed, but her long black hair and mist grey eyes made her stand out a little. She welcomed visitors, for surely it was an honour to be in the presence of the people that she served.

Cryxatum 2, Summer in the Second Era in the Regency of Milo L'Evienne
Fabian Hagen, clad as he was in the uniform of a Cencoris in the Imperial Marines, entered the halls of government of the capital of the Administrate of Centripax, searching for the Governor's office.
He'd been resident in Primus Gaudeo for some eras now, admittedly living here and there, mainly at inns which his poor salary could not keep. A good thing that he was spending Classis money, though of course, there was good reason to. On arriving at his destination, he rendered the usual military courtesies, stood stiffly at attention, and announced his intent.
"Cencoris Fabian Hagen, Imperial Marines, representative of the Imperial Admiral and Imperial Minister of War, Alexis Sapientia, here to meet with Her Imperial Excellency the Governor, or her representative, on a sensitive matter regarding state security ."
As bonafides, he presented his Imperial Visa. Other sealed papers were in his pocket, but those could wait. He could appreciate the security checks; after all, in these post-Paxia and Narim brightenings one could never be too careful.

When the bonafides had been checked and a few people had scurried importantly around, clutching pieces of parchment and feeling as though they in fact ran the Empire, Cencoris Fabian Hagen was shown through into the offices of the Governer.
Alicia Elsdragon was sitting behind her desk, working. She looked up as he was shown in and smiled to him. Her smile, once radiant, was a pleasant one and the first thing that was noticeable about the young elf was how very...small... she was. Her tiny frame was completely engulfed by the desk itself, but nonetheless the smile she gave to him was a genuine one.
"Serale Cencoris Hagen" she said, her quiet voice carrying surprisingly well in the room "It is a pleasure to meet you. May I first offer you a drink or some other form of refreshment before we discuss what business it is that you are here with?"
"At ease, soldier, before you strain something" she thought to herself, but she said no more, waiting to see what this very stiff and rather formal chap wanted. He was a representative of Alexis, and so she was sure that whatever it was, it was something important. So, with Manijor hovering around and waiting for her to let him know about refreshments or otherwise to dismiss him, she smiled and moved around the desk to greet her visitor.

It had been a relatively uneventful journey from Natura to Primas Gaudeo. Austin traveled by coach pulled by his team of four, young and strong Mellon horses. His friend and employee, Garrett acted as driver; given basic instructions and a brightening of practice. Although not the greatest of coach drivers, Garrett did pretty well and the two approached the gates of the capital within just over two brightenings of having left Natura.
Austin had been planning the trip for roughly a month after getting it in his mind that he wanted to take his involvement with his new home of Natura to a new level. He had become a rather successful, well-known and established persona within the town over the past several months not to mention training with the Silver Star Paladins. The next step for him seemed obvious in his own mind, he only hoped that such a thing would prove fruitful.
The early Autumn brightening found Austin in his coach, sipping on a glass of wine as he passed through the West Gate and toward the Concordia Incola and the office of the Governor. When his coach arrived, Austin stepped out and straightened his shirt. He wore a black silk shirt with matching pants, high black boots along with a black cloak trimmed in silver and blue. Although not yet a full paladin, Austin wore the colors of the Silver Stars in his cloak. He chose to leave his weapons in the coach feeling it would not be proper to enter while wearing them. Austin thanked Garrett for a job well done while staff members of the Concordia offered to take care of the coach and horses. Austin gave Garrett a small coin pouch and told him to find a place to rest and get some food then return later to check on the horses. Garrett happily agreed and set off on his way.
Austin turned and made his own way to the Governor's Office. He was in awe at the statues and arches that filled his view. He had never been in such a grand place; having gotten quite used to the country life of Cloudkiss and the serenity of Natura. After a short time, he made his way into the Entrance Hall and with directions from some officials he saw there, found the Governor's Hall.
He approached the guards that stood between him and the his path to the office. Stopping before them, he introduced himself as Austin Eventide of Natura and requested to speak with the Governor about political matters regarding the town and its leadership. He provided his official visa to the guards, was found to have no weapons and carried himself with as much charm and posture as his mid-upper class upbringing granted.
The Governers mansion was meant to be off-putting. But nonetheless, Alicia had tried to make the entrance halls and visitors waiting areas as friendly as possible. The young Sylrosian saw no need to make people feel as though they were not welcome. In fact, she wanted quite the opposite.
And so it was that Austin was shown through, once his visa had been checked and his weapon status verified, to Alicia's office. The man who showed him through, Manijor, was Alicia's assistant. The human was tall and thin and had an intense expression on his face. He announced Austin and Alicia looked up with a smile.
The young elf looked up at Austin and smile a genuine smile. She was tiny, the Governer of the Province and she was swamped by the desk. However, as she stood and moved around her desk to greet him her expression was one of welcome.
This brightening the Governer wore a dress of vivid blue with a lacy silver wrap around her shoulders. The silver of the wrap was echoed in the misty-grey eyes of the young elf and her long black hair was tied back loosely, some still tumbling down across her shoulders.
"Serale and welcome to Primus Gaudeo!" she said, as Austin walked in "I am pleased to meet you indeed. Before we discuss your reason for coming to see me, may I offer you some refreshments?"
Manijor waited until Austin had replied, standing near the door and waiting to see if Alicia required his services any further. She looked at Austin with interest and waited to see what it was that he wanted.

After being checked and approached by someone appearing as an official of some sort, Austin breathed a soft sigh of relief as it looked as though he would actually gain audience with the Governor. The man who had escorted him to the office looked to be all business with his intense expression and the way he carried himself. When they finally stopped, Austin was allowed to enter the office. As Austin stepped inside, he was pleased to see that, unlike the rest of the building that he had seen; although he hadn't seen much, the office was much more welcoming and he admired the strong use of blues in the decor.
When he saw the young elf woman look up smiling from behind the desk, Austin was somewhat intrigued. He had not known what to expect when he had planned the trip and though he had heard of the Governor, he had heard much.
When she stood and greeted him, Austin bowed slightly and responded in fluent Sylrosian, "The pleasure is mine, madam Governor."
Unsure what language she was most comfortable speaking in, Austin switched back to the common tongue, "Refreshments? Thank you, perhaps a bit of elven tea?" Austin, a man whose name was almost synonymous with wine, almost never drank it during important meetings such as this finding that tea always felt more appropriate.
The welcome was warm, as was the offer for refreshment. After availing himself of a cup of tea - incidentally, the Minister's favorite drink, too - so did the cencoris produce a missive from his coat pocket.

1 Cryxatum, in the Second Era of the Regency
of His Most Imperial Excellency, Milo L'Evienne.
To Her Imperial Excellency Alicia Gil'dae
Governor of the Administrate of Centripax.
Your Imperial Excellency,
Greetings from the Imperial Capital!
I write first to congratulate you on your appointment, and second, to inquire as to the state of your province.
I hereby present to you one Fabian Hagen, Cencoris of the Imperial Marines, whom I have appointed as my military legate, and thus my personal representative, an emissary, if you will, to serve as the main link between you and me. I am told he is having difficulty securing sufficient offices in the capital there, and would appreciate your kind assistance in this matter.
It has not escaped my attention that much devastation has occured in the attacks by Malice, as well as of Zerdargia. It is in this regard that I write to express my most vigorous concern for the safety both of your Province as well as of your cities. The Empire can ill afford another Narim, or Paxia. They are a strain to the polity and economy and does not bode well for the general well-being of our citizenry.
I must admit complete ignorance of the Zerdargian affair, and would most appreciate it if you could reacquaint me on what you may know.
In this regard, I should also like to seek a simple clarification: does the settlement known as Midpoint fall within the jurisdiction of your Administrate, or is it fully, completely, Imperial property?
Alexis Sapientia.
Imperial Admiral and Imperial Minister of War.
The missive was secured by an enormous crimson sigil bearing the seal of the Imperial Ministry of War, the Imperial Warbird wreathed in laurels of victory, bearing a baton, surmounting a crossed sword and a quill.
Included with the packet was a bottle of prized Lysandrian Sanguis, surely sufficient for the Governos needs for a good portion of a cycle...if not a month.
"With the Imperial Minister of War's compliments, milady," explained Fabian Hagen unnecessarily.

To the attention of: Her Excellency, the Lady Alicia Elsdragon
Governor of Centripax
Dated: Imperos 7, Autumn of Era XIV
Alicia,
What a pleasure it is to hear from you, and in hopes that this too finds you in good health and high spirits, and settling comfortably into office. Nell and I are doing well, as are the children. We’ve added a third to our brood since your departure from Prime, Madeline, now a little over five months old and the darling of both staff and her elder sister and brother. Rest assured your presence in Prime is sorely missed as well, I do miss our meetings with one of those few with a true appreciation for coffee, no matter its tentative beginnings. Mrs. Stromb in turn sends her very best, has asked me to remind you to eat, and please do rest assured that should you ever desire to return to Prime, your return will be wholeheartedly anticipated and embraced.
While unfortunately the Chancellery has not yet been appointed a new head but is currently operating through the efforts of her senior staff, there are also additional positions to fill as well currently and so there is always a warm reception with open arms to be expected by those as dedicated as yourself who wish to enter in, or re-enter the Imperial ranks.
I’m pleased to her of your recent appointment of a new thane to Natura. While I have not had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Eventide personally but have corresponded pleasantly with at least one of his family members, perhaps he might have told you that the Eventides are cousins to Nell. Given his lack of prior political experience, I believe you have made a wise decision in assigning him as you have to a trial period, and with sincere hope that he rises with confidence to the expectations of offices in anticipation of a more permanent appointment should such be the case. Mayhap I will personally send his Grace a letter of congratulations and welcome to office.
Again Alicia, it is wonderful to hear from you and while I’ve every confidence that Centripax is in the most capable of hands, please do not hesitate to seek assistance directly from myself should the need arise, and neither hesitate as well should you at some point future desire a return to Prime.
Warm Regards,
Milo

To the attention of her Excellency
The lady Alicia Elsdragon
Offices of the lady Governor in the city of Primus Gaudeo
In the Province of Centripax
From the desk of His Royal Highness
Prince Milo the First, lord Protector of the Kingdom of Aelyria
Offices of the Crowned Prince in the Royal Palace
In the Principality of Prime
Your Excellency,
In hopes that this letter finds you in fine health and good spirits, I write to express my personal appreciation for the heartwarming sentiments and words of support offered in a letter that I was quite pleased to find waiting for me on my desk on a cold afternoon in Prime. It is always an additional pleasure to hear from you personally, in these times while official matters may be kept abreast of, it is too seldom that we are able to keep touch with those also valued as friends besides. Your support both personally and officially is warmly received and I thank you.
I should mention that I will be planning a tour of the Kingdom come Spring once the snows of winter thaw, and your capitol city and offices is primary in fact on my itinerary. As my upcoming schedule becomes clearer in the months to come, I will write to advise you of the timing of my arrival. I hope we might speak at that time of matters both concerning Centripax, and your valued service to both the province and the realm.
Having relayed your sentiments to Mrs. Stromb, she has asked that I send along with this message both a reminder to eat well, and a small care package containing a gift fashioned by her own hands. It is her feeling that what her hands have wrought might prove to be a welcome comfort on those cold Winter nights in front of the fire. It goes without saying Alicia that Mrs. Stromb has made for herself an enduring place in my affections…I must admit however that her flair for fashion and color rivals that of Gwygwin in my employ. If it is any consolation, I myself am the proud owner of a pair in crimson and white, Sir James in black and gold.
Fondest Regards,
Milo L’Evienne

If a man wishes to be sure of the road he treads on, he must close his eyes and walk in the dark.
In the offices of the governor of Centripax arrived a letter sealed with red wax and oddly enough addressed to Alicia Gil'dae rather than Alicia Elsdragon. Accompanying the correspondence was a small package wrapped in parchment dyed a forest green and tied off with ribbons of purple and white -- colors found upon the crest of House Gil'dae. Within the package was a small box of chocolates in varying flavors of white, milk, and dark, with even a few that were a little... different. It was called Medonia chocolate (and was named as such by a small card nestled inside the box) -- developed by the chocolate chefs at the Sweet Delights Chocolate Shoppe within Medonia. It was almost a little spicy, though still quite sweet.
After breaking the seal and smoothing out the parchment, Alicia would see the following words curling across the paper in the elegant yet spidery hand of one who had been missing her terribly as of late:
My dear Alicia,
It has been far too long since last we spoke. I hope you are well and in good health... and safe. Above all I hope you are safe. We have all seen the changes happening around us this season... some have reacted with fear. Others with caution and still others not knowing quite how to respond. I'm afraid I fall into this last category.
But I did not write to you to discuss diplomacy and politics.
I miss you, selen'amin. We might not be related by blood, but you have always been close to my heart. May I come to visit you as soon as the weather warms? I'm afraid my duties will be keeping me otherwise preoccupied this season, but I would love nothing more than to spend at least a few cycles in your company during the spring. I have promised myself to my brother Eraisuithon -- yes, I have a brother! He is the product of a single night of passion, like myself, by our shared father... but he is so wonderful. You would love him just as I love him, I know it -- at the very beginning of Cryxatum, but after that I will be all yours for as long as you will have me.
There's so much for us to talk about. So much for us to catch up on... While in Prime, I was met with a very startling realization... that one we thought was gone has returned.
You are in my thoughts, my dear Alicia. I am now living in Enamoria, close to Medonia in a little country manor I have christened the Starshadow Estate. I would love to hear from you. I know that your duties as the governor must keep you very busy, but it would please me greatly to know you are well.
