[Lt. Gov Office] – Repercussions (Adder, Sharinya, Kyonos)

OOC: This thread follows the knowledge of Kyonos' article in the Primus Gaudeo Diamond.

Upon receiving a version of Primus Diamond before publication, as was natural in such a government, Raliric Ered`Gard sat upon the balcony of his Office, his feet resting upon the railing and his dark eyes staring momentarily out upon the setting of the twin suns of Telath. The brightenings were getting longer and filled more and more with what needed to be done within the province. He was tired, as all government officials are at the end of a full brightening, however he was not one to be slack in his duties and thus he would take a moment of rest to read the local news before he returned to his paperwork.

He glanced at the front page of the newspaper and read a headline that directed him to look a few pages into the document for an article by Kyonos Weatherstone regarding the Orc issue. After the first few lines he gave a great sigh and brought his feet down from off the railing, leaning forward in his chair to read the words with more attention directed toward it. Another great sigh emerged from the dracon's nostrals, and he seemed to fall in upon himself to some degree. There was a tidal wave of emotions that pulsed through the Knight's body, however those emotions were pushed to one side and cold, hard reason and logic made to assume control.

He straightened, stood, moved inside and set the paper down upon the desk as he moved past it to the door, which he opened. He moved past Regal, who seeing her master in such a mood began to follow him, and out the single door into the Hall of the Governor. There he turned to the squad of Legionaries whom were his personal guard. ”Sergeant, I have a task for two of your men. Send them both to get a squad of Legionaries each. One squad is to go to the Thanal Manor, another to the Office of the Thane. The Thane is to be asked to come immediately to the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, under armed escort. If the Thane should refuse to be summoned, then those men have the right, by order of myself, to place the Thane under arrest and to be brought here immediately.” He paused for a moment and then thought of something else also. ”Also, send for the Constable and a squad of his Investigators. And send two soldiers to inform the gate captains that the Thane is not to be allowed to leave the city for any reason. And if he is found to send him to my office immediately.” He nodded toward the Sergeant to inform him that his orders had been issued.

Then he turned to Regal. ”Please inform the Governor that I wish to speak with her in my office if that is acceptable.” He then moved back into his office. Though he did not move in to wait but rather he moved to the book shelf and took out a book containing the Articles of the Imperium and the Annarian Code. This he set down upon his desk and took out the copy of his own article that had been submitted to the Herald. Now he began to use all three documents now upon his desk to form his case whilst he waited for the Governor, Constable and Kyonos to arrive.

---- Thanal Manor ----

A squad of some twenty-five Phoenix Legionaries halted their march in front of the Thanal Manor, there the Sergeant stepped forward and said to the guards ”Open the gates by order of His Excellency Lord Raliric Ered`Gard.” The gate guards, being out ranked, would obviously comply allowing the Phoenix Legionaries to move inside. ”Fan out, find Kyonos Weatherstone and inform him of the Lieutenant Governor's request. If he resists, follow your orders and call for assistance. All meet in the courtyard.” With that the squad broke off into groups of five and moved about the Manor searching for Kyonos. They would look in every room, in every closet of every room, in every chest of every room, until they found the Thane. If a door was locked, it would be opened forcefully. Orders were orders, and the these men knew that Raliric Ered`Gard was not one to accept failure.

Upon finding Kyonos, four Legionaries would surround him, as the fifth spoke. ”Serale Thane Weatherstone. The Lieutenant Governor has summoned you to his office. Please come willingly.” The soldier would leave it at that for the moment. If the dwarf wanted to resist than the dwarf would be apprehended and taken forcefully to the desired location.

---- Office of the Thane, Concordia Incola ----

A similar squad to that being sent to the Thanal Manor was sent to the Office of the Thane. There the Sergeant would step forward and incline his head to the guards at the door. ”Serale. Stand aside, by order of His Excellency, Lord Raliric Ered`Gard.” As those guards were also outranked, they stepped asside. Five of the Legionaries would break off from the main formation to follow the Sergeant through the door and into the receptionists room. They would not stop, but rather continue through the door that led into the Thane's Office. Once all five were within, and if Kyonos was there, the Sergeant would step forward to address Kyonos. The soldier did not care who else was within the room, but would issue the summons and then worry about that. ”Kyonos Weatherstone, by order of Lieutenant Governor Raliric Ered`Gard, you have been summoned to his offices. Please come willingly.” The soldier would leave it at that for the moment. If the dwarf wanted to resist than he would be apprehended and taken forcefully to the desired location.

---- Office of the Governor and Governor's Palace ----

A messenger was sent to both of these locations to find the Governor. There the messenger would convey that the Lieutenant Governor was asking for the presence of the Governor at his Office over an important matter, and they would add as an aside that the Lieutenant Governor appeared quite perturbed.

---- Office of the High Commander of the Guard of Primus, and the residence of the High Commander ----

A messenger was sent to both of these locations to find the High Commander of the Guard of Primus. There the messenger would convey that the Lieutenant Governor requested the presence of the High Commander at his Office and for her to bring with her ten of her best investigators. The summons was over an important matter, and they would add as an aside that the Lieutenant Governor appeared quite perturbed.

---- Doli Gate and Phoenix Gate ----

A soldier rode up to each of the Gate Houses and dismount quickly before running inside to find the Gate Captain. Upon finding the Captain the soldier would inform him that the Thane was not be allowed to leave the city and that he was to be brought to the Office of the Lieutenant Governor if Kyonos was found.

A summons from the Lieutenant Governor was not something that was easily ignored and so with a short delay for rescheduling and re-organising, those of the government employees that had been summoned made their way to his office and waited for developments. That wasn't to say that none of them could guess as to the reason for the summons for rumour was ever faster than any other sort of communication.

A squad of some twenty-five Phoenix Legionaries halted their march in front of the Thanal Manor. This was indeed a highly unusual and unexpected sight. The two Dwarven Gate Guards were rather surprised to see what was almost a parade and then have them stop right in front of the gate. One of them counted the troops.

The Sergeant stepped forward and said to the guards ”Open the gates by order of His Excellency Lord Raliric Ered`Gard.” The Gate Guards looked at each in wonderment. Then the senior Guard replied to Sergeant, "Must be pretty slow back at the Base if they send 25 of you to pass the word that the Lieutentant Governor wants the Gates opened. Seems that our Chief Guard wants us to keep them closed but he's off at his sister's wedding in Zerdargia and he won't be back for about a cycle or so. Tell you what though, the Thane is out in the yard practicing throwing his war hammer. I'll send the runner to get him and you can tell him about the Lieutenant Governor wanting the gate open." He turned to a young female Dwarf sitting on the other side of the Gate, her beard was barely noticable, and said, "Go get the Thane, somebody here at the gate about the Lieutenant Governor wanting the Gate opened." The runner scurried off on her mission. The sight of a Dwarf running is far from being a graceful sight. The gate remained shut and locked.

In a very short time a red haired and bearded Dwarf arrived, walked up to the gate and said to the Sergeant, "I'm Kyonos, Thane of Primus Gaudeo. What's this about the Lieutenant Governor wanting the gates opened?"

The sergeant of the Phoenix Legion squad raised a questioning brow, wondering if the dwarf was actually serious. He turned and looked at his men, truly amazed at the stupidity of the people they were surrounded by. His men had similar puzzled looks upon their faces and they merely looked at their sergeant for orders. He Sergeant glanced back at the Gate Guards and narrowed his eyes at them suspiciously, wondering if they were playing some joke on them. But the Sergeant did wait for the Thane to be called to the Gate before speaking again.

”Your guards seem to a bunch of jokers,” the Sergeant went with the theory that they were playing a joke... the Phoenix Legionaries were not laughing. ”but this is no laughing matter.” He addressed the Thane directly. ”The Lieutenant Governor has summoned you to his Office in the Concordia Incola and we are your escort. You are to come immediately and willingly.” He had orders and should Kyonos choose to not come immediately, and by immediately the guard meant at that very moment, the Phoenix Legionaries had orders to arrest the dwarf.

The gate was a very small obsticle and if the Phoenix Legionaries had to break it down to get to their quary then they would do so, but not before alerting the ten thousand Legionaries currently stationed in Primus Gaudeo that the city was to be locked down until Kyonos was brought to justice.

The new Thane had no idea that the Sergeant would alert 10,000 Legionaries if Kyonos was not "brought to justice", whatever that meant, nor was he aware that the Province was on the verge of martial law because the Lieutenant Governor wanted to see the Thane. So of course the two of them were not really conversing about the same thing or at least not on the same level.

You are to come immediately and willingly.”

Though the Thane was new to the job he was not going to take any lip from a Sergeant. "Look here young fellow. You'd best learn to get rid of that insolent attitude when speaking to me. I have a title and you had better use it when you talk to me. You may have been sent by the Lieutenant Governor but you are not him, you are a Sergeant. Now I want to get something straight. Did the Lieutenant Governor send the whole bunch of you to have the Gate opened or did he send all of you just to tell me that he wants to see me? Either way it seems like a waste of manpower unless you folks don't have anything else to do."

He then added, "Don't get yourself all excited about me coming immediately or having an escort. I don't have anything better to do so I'll go right now. I know the way myself and there's nobody I'm afraid of, so I don't need an escort. But, if you folks want to come along, you're welcome to."

Kyonos nodded to the Gate Guard, the Gare was opened, Kyonos stepped through and started walking in the the direction of Concordia Incola.

The Sergeant, knowing full well his place in this matter could not have cared less what the dwarf thought of his words, he had orders and he was carrying them out. It amazed the Sergeant, and his men, even more when they realized that the Thane also thought they would come all this way to order a gate opened and that they wouldn't be smart enough to click to the fact that the Phoenix Legions, a Provincial Law Enforcing Military, was there to potentially arrest the man. Wonders would never cease to amaze them and this dwarf was indeed a wonder. They would make sure a report was issued to their commanders so that eventually the Lieutenant Governor would realize what had been hired, though they thought the man already knew given what was currently occurring.

”The Lieutenant Governor sent us to bring you, under armed escort, to his office immediately. Thus, I am afraid, you have no choice in the matter of escort or time frame.” Once the Gate was opened the Sergeant would nod to his men whom would move forward and surround the Thane, forming an escort. Kyonos was foolish to think that they were here to escort the Thane for his protection, no, it was obvious that they were there to escort the Thane for everyone else's protection and to ensure the Thane came. Not to mention what might occur during or after this meeting.

The Legionaries would escort the dwarf to the Concordia Incola, ensuring that they travelled in the open streets so that all whom saw them in the waning sun light could see that the Thane was under heavy guard by Provincial Forces.

Once the party arrived in the anti-chamber, or receptionists room, at the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, Regal Nebrask would stand, incline her head to the Sergeant and address Kyonos, ”Serale Your Grace, His Excellency is currently speaking to a few Officials and has thus requested that you wait until he is ready to see you. Please take a seat over there.” She motioned toward one of the seats that lined the room.

There were two Phoenix Legionaries stationed within the room guarding the door into Raliric's Office, and should Kyonos, or anyone not authorized by the Lieutenant Governor, try to gain entry they would bar the way with their spears or step in front of the door and use their shields as a barricade. Those would be allow entry would be the Governor, Regal, the High Commander of the Guard and her ten investigators.

Sharinya was in her office reading through correspondence when the messenger arrived. There was nothing to pressing that couldn’t be put aside for a later candle mark.
Flying through the open door she made her way down the passage to the office of the Lt. Governor she waited for Regal to announce her before entering.

”Serale Raliric, I trust you are well this brightening?” she asked once she was close enough and sure that he would hear her voice without her having to shout.

”There seems to be a lot of activity going on… is there something going on that I should know about? she asked him a frown marring her otherwise smooth features.

The Sergeant said, ”The Lieutenant Governor sent us to bring you, under armed escort, to his office immediately. Thus, I am afraid, you have no choice in the matter of escort or time frame.” Then the soldiers formed a ring around the Thane. That clod of a Sergeant still did not address the Thane with proper title and respect. His manners were like those of an Orc. No need to talk to him anyhow. Maybe it wasn't even his doing and Raliric may have told him to be rude.

He wondered if all this was because of the article in the local paper but then decided that even an individual as pompous and ostentatious as the Lieutentant Governor would not do such an asinine thing as this over a mere disagreement about Orcs. But, the non-Dwarven races have surprised him with their stupidity in the past and it might just be the case now.

As they travelled down the streets of Primus Gaudeo, Kyonos waved and grinned to the citizens who were attracted by the sight of their Thane being escorted by what seemed to be a very large Honor Guard. The people waved back and cheered, being glad that one of their own kind was Thane.

After he was greeted politely and properly by Regal Nebrask, Kyonos nodded, said, "Serale". and seated himself. The Guards at the door were armed with spears and shields. He wondered if Raliric was afraid that someone might try to hurt him. He recalled that when he saw Raliric out in the field, the Lieutenant Governor always had an abundance of Guards close by and very conspicuous, strange. Especially strange since whatever Guards the Governor had, were quite inconspicuous, if present at all.

He sat there with a patience of a Dwarf.

Regal did not hesitate in announcing the Governor into see the Lieutenant Governor, such was the time and urgency of the matter that she wanted to help in any way possible to make the proceedings as quick and painless as possible.

When Sharinya was shown in, Raliric was still sitting at his desk looking over the Articles of the Imperium, though he already had a parchment full of references that would be used in the case to come. He looked up at the fae and then said to Regal. ”Please show in the Commander also, thank you Regal.” Once Rardowia, the Commander of the Guard of Primus and Constable of Primus Gaudeo, was shown in Raliric would stand and present copies of the Primus Diamond to both of them, turned to the page that read:

Secrets :
An article was submitted to the Primus Gaudeo Diamond by Kyonos Weatherstone, a local Dwarf who is currently a Miner and has worked as a Blacksmith as well. He seeks to comment on what he cites as Lieutenant Governor Sir Raliric Ered' Gard 's absurd article in the Herald that was recently republished in the Primus Gaudea Diamond.

Our community is a Dwarven community, it is not a hodge podge of races. Though there are a few races in Centripax, let us hope that it will never become a diverse community. The Lieutenant Governor seems to stand up for Orcs because he knows of a handful who are not savage killers. If he looked hard, he might find some Dracons who ought to be tolerated as well, but not many. Most of them hide their identities lest they be exposed for what they really are.

Raliric is ready to happily welcome the Orc race to the Administrate of Centripax. The Orcs have a city of their own and a visitor there would likely become a meal in short time.

Centripax has never been a Province to accept all sorts of rabble. If the Province and it's cities had Dwarven leaders instead of what we have now, then there would not have been such nonsense uttered by a high official. Just as we know that snakes should be avoided, we also know that some races are not to be trusted either. Under Dwarven leadership there would no need for the Lieutentant Governor's knights. He would be free to take them to the city of Orcs and enjoy the reception that would await him. After that, those who were not eaten could go to Sylrosia and tell the Elves what to do.

Raliric says "Centripax confirms that within its borders all shall find a home and the protection of its Just Law and the Order of the Imperial Way.” That foolishness might suit the personal ambitions of Raliric and his private army but it does not serve the Dwarven community. Another reason why we need to be rid of alien races ruling over Dwarves.

Once he was sure that both had read the document, though he was sure they had read it already before coming to his office this darkening, he replied to Sharinya's questions. ”I am quite well, and yes there is something going on. It would seem that our Thane of a Month is already sowing decent amongst your subjects.” He pointed to the Primus Diamond. ”Luckily the fool did not publish the document in the Herald or the fallout would be substantially higher.” He paused for a moment to look between Sharinya and Rardowia, it was obvious that he was irritated with the matter at hand, though one could not say he was angry, he was rarely ever that. ”I do not mind the opinions he presents in the first half of the article... however.” He pointed to one of the later passages and read it out aloud, ”Centripax has never been a Province to accept all sorts of rabble. Another reason why we need to be rid of alien races ruling over Dwarves.” He looked directly at Sharinya now.

”That is treason. Not to mention his utter disrespect for the current officials of Primus Gaudeo who he has to work with, not to mention who are his bosses. He is the Thane of one Locality, not of the Province and he flouts his words and ego as if he is Governor himself. You have appointed a fool to the position of Thane, I knew it the first moment I saw him when I entered your office at the beginning of the season. And he proved it in the moments following. Now is the time to repair such mistakes, Sharinya.” He moved out from around the desk and moved to the doors leading to the balcony, though he stayed inside the room. He looked out over the city of Primus Gaudeo, the city he loved situated in the province he was furiously dedicated to, which was at the heart of the Empire he was sworn to. ”I have asked you here to inform you of his crimes and reach a decision. I hope that a decision can be made that does not entail Rardowia placing Kyonos under arrest for Treason, however that possibility may be irrevocable due to our legal obligations in this matter.” At that moment he turned back to fix his cavernous black gaze upon Sharinya.

”What do you propose to do, Your Excellency?” He wanted to know what peaceful solution Sharinya would think of for the crimes presented to her, though he had yet to fully say what Articles the dwarf had broken. If her punishment was too lenient then he would push for Kyonos' arrest and for his own punishments to be added to the list. And now that Kyonos was outside his office under full guard, he would have enough time to sort this issue out in private with the officials that mattered before bringing Kyonos into the room to plead his case before an official arrest was enforced.

The matter reminded him of his own arrest for treason, a charge which was fake and merely a political move to remove the current Lieutenant Governor's political enemies, at the time. Though she had gone about it a completely different way, and Kyonos had gone about his treasonous actions in a completely open and foolish way. The fact that Raliric had not committed any treasonous activity and had not done the actions that had been construed as treasonous in public made this instance the proper way of enforcing laws to a city's officials. Keep it nice and official, quick and efficient. People did not like to see their Government's in flux, waring with each other and at odd ends. And no doubt the People of Primus Gaudeo had seen in the Diamond a rift in their government and that would not be well received. Split between Raliric Ered`Gard, their former Provincial Commander, Warhero and now Lieutenant Governor, and Kyonos Weatherstone, dwarf and newly appointed Thane of their city. Raliric knew which option the majority of the citizens would choose, however it was the minority that always seemed to bring the fervor to the occasion. He did not want any more Primus Gaudeo's riots or the creation of any more Hidden City gangs and thus he would sort this matter out as quickly as he could before the fallout escalated.

He made a mental note to ask his informants throughout the city how the populace received all of this, but that would have to wait for the new season and another brightening.

Rardowia had a fairly shrewd idea of what this meeting was about for she had been around too long and was too well connected not to have advance warning of this sort of thing and indeed she didn't consider that she would justify the position she held if she hadn't cultivated her own network of informants. What she wasn't so sure of was how well Raliric was going to react to the confrontation.

She entered the room and listened, her heart sinking as the Lieutenant Governor followed the path that she had dreaded for all that it was inevitable. The article had been a direct challenge to his announcement, an announcement she had privately cringed at given the inevitable reaction it would cause. On the other hand although this hadn't been the reaction that she had expected from Kyonos, assuming as she had that he was a politician first and foremost, she had some hopes that making the confrontation so public might just be the way to defuse the tension before the whole city became embroiled in it.

She wondered what the chances were that the Herald would actually pick up on this, it not being the first time that they had seized on a piece of juicy gossip happening in one of the cities, but like Raliric she hoped that somehow they would miss it this time.

She placed her hands together and gripped her fingers tightly, waiting for the Governors reaction. It was down to her now to put her foot down and stop this before it went further. Rardowia had every respect for Raliric as a military commander, but her experience of him as a politician was very limited, and she had to wonder as she glanced between the two of them whether or not Raliric had staged this whole thing and quite what he had expected to get out of it. Perhaps he was annoyed at the Governors choice of Thane? Perhaps this was his first step towards his next political position? Certainly it was a direct challenge to the Governor and she felt uncomfortable at being there. She wished that if Raliric was going to call the Governor incompetent then he had done so in private and not in front of witnesses.

Her eyes narrowed. Perhaps this explained the incident with the last Governor? It seemed high handed of Raliric to complain about the Thane criticising him and calling it treason but then to do the same himself to the Governor. Had he done something similar with Alicia? She searched her memory for what she could remember and as she cast her mind back it all seemed to become horribly familiar. Then he had challenged the Governor, and now he was doing it again.

But the question had been put directly to the Governor and only she could respond now.

Sharinya re-read the article that seemed to have gotten her Lt. Governor hot under the collar. She had read the article when it first came out and could agree, if asked that the new Lord Thane could have used a little more tact in the way he had worded his response. However, one had to take into account that Kyonos Weatherstone was a dwarf and the last thing dwarves were noted for was diplomacy. Dwarves were the plainest speaking of all the races that made up the melting pot of Allerian society; you were left in no doubt where you stood with them.

Sharinya listened without interruption as Raliric spoke; he was making his personal dislike of the Lord Thane most evident the more he said. She was not surprised as he had indicated at time of the Thane’s appointment that he did not think it a good choice on her part. Now it seemed he was talking of Treason but against whom?

”Sir Raliric I am not entirely clear as to why you would consider this article to be treasonous… surely not; after all does the Lord Thane seem to be plotting against anyone? As I see it he is merely disagreeing with you as you have most surely disagreed with my appointment of him as Thane.

I am not sure Sir Raliric that it is wise for you to call into question my decision to have appointed Kyonos as Lord Thane of Primus Gaudeo. That decision was mine to make and it is one I made. Forgive me if you think I should have consulted you first but it is not among your duties as Lt. Governor to make such a judgment.

I would like to make my position quite clear Sir Raliric and you are free to disagree but be quite certain that this is my chosen path.

Centripax was the Dwarven Kingdom! They were not a Kingdom that was taken over or annexed by the Emperor Constantine. Their loyalty to the Emperor and the Empire its self is without question.

What is in question and is something I chose to rectify is that this province has for sometime been favoring those of other races over the dwarves. This is an insult to a very loyal race of people who have stood by the Emperor and indeed me in times of great need.

You do not have to agree with my appointment of Kyonos Weatherstone as Lord Thane but it is not an appointment I am about the rescind because you do not like him.”
she responded, her tone leaving Raliric in doubt that she was not going to be influenced by his dislike of the Lord Thane.

Whilst the incident with the last Lieutenant Governor, for that is what she was at the time the incident occurred, was similar to the matter at hand, it was also completely different; though that was a matter and topic that could be discussed should it arise. And Raliric, for one, was certain that his view on the matter was the correct one. Suffice to say that Raliric had no such political intentions of declaring his Governor incompetent, he had implied nothing of the sort. Had he intended to take over the Governorship of the Province he would have proceeded to the head of the snake and listed the many things he had done for the Empire and Centripax and then ask what the Governor had done, but that thought had not even entered his mind. He had always done the best for Centripax and had never been known for being ambitious or an opportunist and he was not about to start now.

He listened to all that Sharinya said without interruption, though he did mentally catalogue each point she made so that he could respond in kind... not to mention the fact that he also filed away how upset she sounded, even if she did not appear so her words belied her emotions. ”I quote 'Raliric says "Centripax confirms that within its borders all shall find a home and the protection of its Just Law and the Order of the Imperial Way.” That foolishness might suit the personal ambitions of Raliric and his private army but it does not serve the Dwarven community. Another reason why we need to be rid of alien races ruling over Dwarves.'” He quoted, pointing to the passage at the bottom of the article. ”That is, quite clearly, treasonous.” He moved to his notes which were set upon his desk, scanning them with his eyes quickly as he moved to the definition of treason as written in the Articles of the Imperium. ”'Article One Hundred and Nineteen. Treason. Laws shall be promulgated within the Imperial Code of Law which outlaw and apply the harshest penalties against those who would plot against the Allerian Empire, the Sacred Three, the State, the Realm, or any of its agents, ministers, officials, or people, through act actual or terror itself, or, any conspiracy thereof.'” He glanced up at the Governor. ”That quite clearly sums up exactly what Kyonos' article implied. To begin with, he is obviously saying, in his article, that the dwarven community does not agree with the 'Just Law and the Order of the Imperial Way.' as he referenced my saying. This, in itself, is an act of treason, 'act actual or terror itself, or, any conspiracy thereof.'”

He glanced from Sharinya to Rardowia, wondering if they would disagree with his take on the case at hand. He had been a Prefect not too long ago and had been a good one, researching cases and enforcing the laws of the empire. He knew how to win a court case and this was no different. It had been the beginning of career of working for the government and had also been the job that had brought him so close to Palacrisis D Jones, his best friend and the holder of his will and testament.

”Secondly, he is obviously plotting against one, or more, of the State's, and Realm's, agents; myself, and every agent, minister and official whom are not dwarven; that includes each of you.” He said pointedly, looking from Rardowia back to Sharinya. He straightened, believing that he had proven his case incontrovertibly, until of course Sharinya or Rardowia spoke to say something against what he had said. Now he would address the Governor's misconceptions regarding his motives.

”I do disagree with your appointment of him as Thane, however at the time of his appointment I did not treasonously disagree so. I accepted your order, as I have always done, and faithfully followed my duties in introducing him to his peers and to those of importance within his new employment. Did I not? Not to mention the fact that since that brightening I have not hindered or interfered with the Thane in anyway.” He did not wait for her answer, pausing enough to move mentally onto his next point. ”I have not called into question your decision in the matter. Decisions are made. Whether they turn out to be mistakes is not a question of the past, but of what we can do, in the present and future, to rectify that mistake. We are all mortal, Sharinya, and as mortals we make mistakes. For you to think otherwise is unallerian. Heh, it even says so in the Article of the Imperium that we are all not perfect beings. You made a decision, and it turned out to be a mistake. That is my opinion.” and then he added as if an afterthought, ”Though that opinion is not treasonous, or we would not be having this discussion.” Quite neatly put. For her to disagree with Raliric on that matter it would seal Kyonos' fate for the other opinions he had expressed regarding the Lieutenant Governor.

”As for being consulted first? No, I did not expect such, and you are correct. It is not among my duties as Lieutenant Governor to make such a judgment.” He would not deny that, if it had been among his duties to be consulted first then this could have all been avoided, but such an assessment was not brought up because it did not matter in the slightest. ”Your Excellency, the Dwarven Race's capabilities are not being questioned here or now, nor do I wish for them to be in the future. I have lived, worked and fought beside men and women of such a race and they are a remarkably honourable, sturdy and trustworthy race. I would never bring their loyalty into question, as a race. However that is not what this evening is about; this evening is about one dwarf. Kyonos Weatherstone; and his treasonous and malfeasant actions. If my bringing to justice one dwarf is an insult to the entire race then I shall insult them now, and into the future; for I will not put Law, Order and Justice aside for anyone, of any race. That is,” He emphasized the word 'that' and 'is', ”my duty as Lieutenant Governor, as a Knight of the Empire, and, most importantly of all, as a Citizen of this Great Nation.”

He paused for a moment then, locking his eyes with Sharinya's, his determination evident and his passion for what he said indisputable. ”I did not, and still do not, agree with his appointment as Thane of Primus Gaudeo, however I have lived with it. I am also not asking you to rescind your order. Especially because I do not like him. Have you ever known me to take such action against those I do not like? What I am saying, not asking, is that to allow Kyonos Weatherstone to remain as Lord Thane of Primus Gaudeo after this affair would be an error on your part. One I shall, once again, have an opinion against and disagree with; though as is befitting my station and employment, have to abide.” He moved away from his desk again, though he was ready to move back to it, and his notes, should he be required to continue the discussion of Kyonos' guilt.

As he moved away he continued to speak. ”The fact of the matter is, Your Excellency, that Kyonos Weatherstone has committed a crime and as such should be reprimanded and punished for such in an expedient, legal and orderly manner in order to bring the Empire's Justice. No one is above the Law, except for the Emperor and the Gods themselves.” There he stopped his reply to her words and turned to face her. He had traveled only as far as behind his chair and it was there that he ceased movement; his hands resting on the top of the backrest of the chair.

Sharinya heard Raliric out knowing full well from the first moment that he opened his mouth that the issue at hand was going to be confrontational. She had hoped it would be otherwise.

”Sir Raliric, you say Kyonos’ response to your article is treasonous. It is my opinion that the Lord Thane is reacting as any dwarf would when reading an article such as yours. He is voicing his opinions just as you voice
