[Lt Gov's Office] A Lieutenant meets with the Lieutenant Governor (Raliric)
Timestamp: Fourth cycle of Ioannes, Summer in the First Era of the Regency of Milo L'Evienne
Quote:
|
Located within the Hall of the Governor and beside the grand double-doors leading to the office of the Governor was the smaller single-door that opened to the Lt. Governor's office. There wasn't that much difference between the sizes and such, but enough to allow one to realize who had the higher power in this governmental establishment. Resting upon the door a golden plaque read: Office of the Lieutenant Governor. On either side of the door two Phoenix Legion infantrymen stood at ease, though they were not at ease at all; their eyes continued to scan the hallway and the look through the glass windows opposite them into the inner courtyard, ensuring that none came and took them by surprise. These were some of the Lieutenant Governor’s personal guard.
|
Fabian Hagen, clad as he was in the full dress uniform of a Cencoris in the Imperial Marines, entered the halls of government of the capital of the Administrate of Centripax, searching for the Lieutenant Governor's office.
He'd been resident in Primus Gaudeo for some months now, admittedly living here and there, mainly at inns which his poor salary could not keep. A good thing that he was spending Classis money, though of course, there was good reason to. Noticing the two Phoenix Legion infantrymen at post, he rendered the usual military courtesies, stood stiffly at attention, and announced his intent.
"Cencoris Fabian Hagen, Imperial Marines, representative of the Imperial Admiral, here to meet with His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor."
As bonafides, he presented his Imperial Visa. Other sealed papers were in his pocket, but those could wait. He could appreciate the security checks; after all, in these post-Paxia and Narim brightenings one could never be too careful.

OOC: Apologies for the late reply.
The Legionaries saluted the Imperial Officer as recognized by the uniform he wore, and then proceeded to check the man's visa. The Lieutenant Governor was currently not in his office and thus they would not need to perform any of the other checks they would normally do. ”Thank you, Cencoris Hagen, please enter.” The Phoenix Legionary opened the door for the Imperial Officer and then closed it once the man had entered.
Regal Nebrask stood as the Cencoris entered, having recognized the uniform. The dorin female inclined her head in greeting and smiled at the man. ”Serale Cencoris, I am the Lieutenant Governor's secretary, Regal Nebrask. Unfortunately His Excellency is currently out of Primus Gaudeo on business, and he will be gone for most of the season. If it pleases you I can schedule you in for a meeting next season at your earliest convenience. Or I can pass on any message you would like to give him.” She waited, picking up a quill just in case the Imperial Officer wished for her to pass on a message.

"Greetings," Hagen managed to say, and saluted accordingly, for the simple reason that he was a simple marine and marines tended to do such things. Then he presented his Visa, giving his name and his rank.
Setting his hands behind his back, he continued with his purpose. "I was here primarily to discuss...matters of mutual interest between the Imperial Admiralty and His Imperial Excellency," temporized he as he gazed pensively at the surroundings, "...but that is no matter. If His Imperial Excellency is indisposed, I suppose it would be all right to reschedule..."
It took a long time to consider the response. "Perhaps the first available Dianara? Midbrightening, after rosyun? There is much to discuss, but if you could please arrange an audience, I would be most grateful."
Relaxing, he managed a smile towards the female.
"How goes the Governor, this brightenings?"

OOC: Sorry mate, mixture of work, laziness and missing thread contributed to the delay. Won't happen again.
The secretary nodded. ”Excellent, that time is very suitable to his Excellency and I will make sure to stress to him that you have been waiting sometime.” She wrote down on a meeting calender the appointment and also wrote it in a diary before looking back up.
”He is well; there is much in progress and he likes to make a personal effort with everything. That sometimes results in long brightenings and some officials being neglected. He does not mean to do it, but he is rather dedicated to his work and the province. I try and keep him in line but can only succeed sometimes.” She smiled.
”I will see you on the first Dianara of the new Season.”
OOC2: Might as well continue it here, given that it is now Autumn and that I don't like too many threads broaching the same subject, bad for house keeping.

TS: Dianara, First Cycle of Autumn
When the Imperial Marine entered the secretary's office on this brightening he would first see the dorin Regal Nebrask sitting at her desk, but also the Lieutenant Governor seated in one of the waiting chairs. The Lieutenant Governor would stand and incline his head toward the Imperial Officer. ”Serale, Cencoris Hagen. Let me first apologize for not being available to you on your first visit. I had matters to attend to in Alleria Prime and had to leave on such short notice. Please come in and lets get right down to business so that there is no delay.” He escorted Fabian into his Office and there motioned toward the two available seats in front of his desk. ”Would you like some refreshment? Or something to nibble on? I still have a fruit platter from rosyun that you are welcome to.” There was a small table where Raliric had moved and upon that table was a platter of different fruits native to Centripax, there was also a bottle of wine and a jug of water.”[/b]
The Lieutenant Governor would wait to see if the Cencoris wished for any of this before he moved to his desk and sat in his chair, taking up a quill and blank piece of parchment. ”Now, I have one or two matters which I mentioned in my letter to the Imperial Admiral, however if there is any business that you bring on his behalf then we will see to that first and foremost.”

A nod of the head was his greeting to the dorin, and on meeting the Lieutenant Governor, ever the Marine, Cencoris Hagen would salute. Crisply. He'd also acquiesced to the fruit, good healthy fellow that he was.
"Cencoris Fabian Hagen reporting as ordered by the Imperial Admiral."
He'd managed to take a glass of the proferred wine, wetting his lips to be courteous, before taking out a sheaf of papers, signed and sealed in blue, with the signet of the Imperial Admiralty.
"My credentials, your Imperial Excellency. The Imperial Admiral has seen fit to accredit me as his 'envoy', if one could call it that. My main job is to liaise with the Centripaxian government and the Imperial Admiralty, aid in any concerns, and so on." He let out a grin as he said that.
"Odd, the Navy needing liaison in this landlocked province, eh? The Imperial Admiral feels...that it being central to the Empire, a presence to assist in coordinating the efforts of the Navy throughout the Western Realms and Enamoria and Carmelyn would prove beneficial." He paused, then set out paper and pen, and continued.
"To business, then. Sir, if I may, what do you recall of that famed battle of ancient memory, that which the Empress, the Gods bless Her, Herself participated in, not far from here?"

OOC: Heh, just noticed half my post gone lol! But I see you got what I was getting at, good show!
Raliric, a military man at heart, had to restrain himself from saluting back; the Cencoris was not one of his men, nor was the dracon in human form a member of the Imperial Army, and thus it gave him no right to share that salute. He also took a piece of fruit and a glass of water for himself after passing the desired refreshments to the soldier. He would take the papers from the man and glance over them, giving an admiring nod of his head before handing the papers back.
”Coordinating efforts and keeping good relations is always a must these brightenings, it is exactly what the empire needs more of, coordination between provincial and imperial forces, rather than separation.” He nodded sagely before sitting back to recall what he knew of the Sentinel battle in the Heartlands. It took him a moment before he nodded and sat forward again. ”I only recall what I read in reports from the Phoenix Legion officers. You see I was, unfortunately, traveling to the camp of the empress when the attack occurred and was still some brightenings away from the battlefield. By the time I actually arrived with my Knights the battlefield had been cleared and consumed by tents and the massive encampment of what seemed like every military organization in the empire. I was only able to learn more than rumors conjecture and hear-say when I became Provincial Commander of Centripax and was thus able to access the reports. Was there anything specific you wished to know of? Or simply the knowledge that I know of such a battle and generally what occurred?” He smiled, quite interested in what the Cencoris was leading to by the question he had asked.

Fascinating indeed how a mere Cencoris of his rank could be talking to the Lieutenant Governor of Centripax as if they were a pair of old comrades speaking at some tavern over house ale. Then again, perhaps that's what it was...the comradeship of arms, which unites all against an enemy, and yet bonds disparate individuals into a fighting group. Never forgotten. Never truly forgotten.
He smiled and nodded with the assessments given, listening intently as he did so.
That was his main mission here.
"A general occurence, or what Your Imperial Excellency has heard. If Your Imperial Excellency could recall other...noble personages with whom we could...seek their own personal recollections, that would be most..."
He coughed as he did so, before meeting eyes with the Lieutenant Governor.
"...most wonderful, sir."

OOC: Woops, my bad. I thought I had posted to this after speaking to you the last time.
”Well, I will tell you what the reports I read said. Apparently the Phoenix Legion regiment sent to the Empress' camp was meant to be a diplomatic mission. They were to establish Constantius's presence in the camp before ending their neutrality in the Imperial Crisis. The Phoenix Legions met with the Carmelite forces which was made up of a number of different militaries and militia's from around Carmelya. Shortly there after they met up with a Naturan delegation. Once these forces had formed up in a sufficient travel formation they continued on their way. Scouts from the Veldar Elite, whom had already met up with the Imperial Army, spotted them and after greetings became their guide. The rest of that brightening was uneventful until they arrived at Audrey's Camp. It was late in the darkening and so they rested.” He paused to readjust how he was seated, wanting to be more comfortable.
”The Coalition of forces was woken up by a horn sound. It was an alarm and the Coalition of armed forces scrambled to prepare themselves for an attack. The Dianite Vigils were the first to encounter the Sentinels. Whilst the Vigils slowed the Sentinels the Phoenix Legion met up with Audrey and formed a defensive circle about her. The Sentinels' attack was fierce. They decimated all that stood before them. The Empress informed Captain Astac, an officer, that the magi controlled the Sentinels and so that was whom the Phoenix Legion targetted. The Phoenix Legion had brought no magi though, believing it to be a diplomatic mission not a battle. They did have archer's though. The archers attacked the magi whilst the rest of the Legion placed themselves before the Sentinels to take the brunt of the attack. The necromantic commander of the Sentinels then used his arcana to bring back the fallen Legionaries, using their undead forms as an army of his own.” He paused to wet his lips, it was a tale of victory though through great defeat.
”Captain Astac reported that Audrey lost the Sword of Ioannes momentarily, then when she picked it up again a light shot from the sky into her. And she spoke with a male vioce, her body seemed to have been possessed. She destroyed the undead around her easily, as if she were a master of the weapon. Then she was presented with the Shield of Diana. The Empres ordered to kill the mage who was commanding the forces. As soon as she had finished her words a great gust of green air hit her. It had been produced by the death throws of a summoned dracolich. The Empress fell then. The Imperial Legions arrived upon the battle field and began to destroy the Sentinels in greater numbers.”
He sighed and lent forward. ”The necromancer then disappeared from the battlefield, no doubt returned to his master in Alleria Prime. As soon as he left the battle was quickly ended. Constantius came to the Empress' aid, though she was already dead. Constantius took up the Sword of Ioannes and thrust it toward the sky, crying out. I made sure that I remembered the exact words as they were reported because they are.... interesting to say the least.” He paused to gather the words as they had been uttered and then spoke.
”The voice of Diana spoke to Constantius though those assembled could be heard. 'She is the Price for what you have done, Constantius,' she said before continuing on with, 'The price for restoring her has always been beyond your means. Neither Ioannes nor Carmelya shall aid you now, Son of Eternity. You are alone, as you were always destined to be. Go out and govern the Empire in my name and foresake your blasphemy to the Earthbound Goddess. You and I were always meant to be exclusive.' Now this did not sit well with Constantius, obviously. For he said; 'Exclusive. Are you telling me that my marriages, my Queens and Empresses, my Life has all been a cherade so that you could control me? So that you could dominate your Empire? The prive for restoring her is a small price to pay for my happiness, and for freedom from your indomitable Tyranny, Diana.' It was then that Constantius threw the Sword of Ioannes onto the ground and spread his wings out wide before saying, 'I am your Puppet no more.'” Raliric paused, wondering what was coursing through the Cencoris' mind with what was being revealed to him. In those few paragraphs of speech had been declared an Emperor's open defiance of the patron goddess of the Allerian Empire. An Empress who had been declared Tyrannical and should, to this brightening, be opposed; though the opposite had occurred.
”The report said that then the Emperor flew into the sky in a blinding flash of light. There was a scream from the Heavens, the voice of Diana shrieking in horror. It seemed that Cosntantius had gone to the Place of Aetheria to do battle with the Goddess. A few moments later the scream ceased and a tremor rocked the countryside. Valerian Constantius had reappeared holding Audrey, though he seemed somehow... diminished. Audrey's eyes opened. Constantius had brought her back to life, but at what cost? He stood back up, took up the Sword of Ioannes and declared that Audrey was Empress.”
He sat back into his chair and watched the Cencorus. ”The Phoenix Legions stayed long enough to haul their dead onto carts then they traveled back to Primus Gaudeo.” It was there that he finally finished speaking.
