Second Brightening of the First Cycle in the Month of Ioannes in the Season of Summer; Era I of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIII Post Fractum. The First Era of the Regency of Milo L'Evienne.

Keldon entered the office of the Lieutenant Governor with a smile on his face, his appearance had not changed. He was carrying a satchel containing various documents relating to his position as Lord Thane which was normally always with him when he went from office to office. Once he arrived at the desk he smiled to his clerk. "Is Raliric in milady, it is of the utmost importance I speak with him."

Regal Nebrask was, as always, informed and on top of everything that occurred in the Governor’s Offices and related to them, thus it had filtered to her via various eyes and ears that the Lord Elsdragon was on his way to the Lieutenant Governor’s Office. Thus when Keldon arrived and enquired about Raliric she smiled and nodded. ”Serale Thane Elsdragon, the Lord Ered`Gard is indeed in. If you would wait just one moment I will be right back.” She stood from behind her desk, moved to the doors that led into Raliric’s Office, opened one and stuck her head in. A moment later she removed her head and opened the door completely, turning to Keldon. ”The Lieutenant Governor will see you now, thank you for waiting.”

Upon Keldon’s entry she would follow and wait next to door for Raliric’s sign of whether she should stay to take notes or leave. Raliric inclined his head first toward Keldon in greeting and acknowledgement before looking to Regal. ”Thank you, Regal. We will be fine. I’m sure you have plenty of things to do without waiting on us.” He stood and moved around his desk to greet Keldon whilst Regal moved back out the door and closed it behind her.

”Serale Keldon, What is the matter of utmost importance that has brought you to my office so swiftly?” He shook Keldon’s hand in greeting before motioning him to sit in one of the available chairs. Whilst Keldon sat and explained, the dracon moved to the refreshments and poured them two Arakmatan glasses of water, into which he placed two pieces of chipped ice; some of the last of the winter’s ice harvest from the mountains. A glass was passed to Keldon before Raliric resumed his seat behind the desk and opened to a new page in his vellum log book, ready to write notes on what Keldon had said.

Keldon smiled as he took a seat, taking a brief sip of water in his hand. "Oh I think I could of came even swifter if I needed but I doubt your lovely staff would enjoy seeing me sprint right into your door... well perhaps they would but surely my nose wouldn't..." Keldon paused when he considered how to inform his friend, and his boss that he would no longer be Thane of Primus Gaudeo. He straightened up in his seat and made his face look highly serious as if the fate of the world was about to come from his face.

Keldon trailed off and looked at his friends face for an expression. If one came or not it would take perhaps thirty seconds before he broke out into a very wide grin and started to laugh. "Lord Ered`Gard, by order of the Imperial Government I here-by place you under arrest for stealing the authorcrown by the powers granted to me by the Imperial Government of the Allerian Empire....""Sorry friend but I could not help myself..." He said chuckling a little. "It is not often you are presented the chance to say that to a Lieutenant Governor that is a personal friend without worry of ramification's... and the facial expression would of been worth it regardless..." Keldon placed several pieces of paper onto the table. On the top of the card was a Imperial Military Identification card bearing his name and rank of Provost. The authorization signature on the card was signed by Provost Imperatis Sheng Kaldres. Something that not everyone's ID card would have on them.

Below the card was the letters dispatched to him from Alleria Prime. Once Ral was done looking at them and looked at Keldon he would see Keldon nodding his head slowly. "It appears my summons is not only calling me to Alleria Prime for a visit... but for a permanent stay for a unknown length of time..."

Raliric nodded, a slight grin appearing on his features as he pictured Keldon running into the door and sprinting… elves always looked funny when they did things. At the pause the Lieutenant Governor watched Keldon with a keen eye. He knew exactly what was coming and had been expecting the Lord Thane sooner in fact given that he had received a letter the brightening before asking a few questions that could only mean one thing. Thus he sat back in his chair and waited for the news to be broken to him so that he could start his own line of enquires.

The smile that had found its way to his features stayed right where it was when Keldon proceeded to tell his little joke; in fact the only facial change that came over Raliric was a slight rise in his right eyebrow. It was not a surprised expression but rather a questioning one. Raliric had many a run in with the law in the past and at every turn he had won. He was not afraid of false accusations leveled against him because he knew that he could overcome them. It might have just been his serious mood for the brightening, he had been serious for the last cycle or so, but he was really not in the best of moods to appreciate such a joke.

Thus he simply waited and watched Keldon with those orbs of cavernous darkness that were his eyes; orbs that seemed to be endless in their blackness, without depth though they contained a quality of piecing that came with many eras of using such a stare. Finally Keldon produced the card and papers that authenticated the change of profession. To ensure it was all official, the Lieutenant Governor reached over and took the documentation, reading over it and nodding slowly. He had heard of the name Sheng Kaldres but knew nothing of the fellow, thus he saw the signature as merely a name on a piece of paper with no real significance other then he was the person who had given Keldon his new job.

”That all seems to be in order, Keldon. I am going to assume that since you have brought these to my attention you are taking the position and thus would like to resign from your duties as Thane of Primus Gaudeo. I do hope that you have asked to begin your new duties next season as there will be a transition period from your office to the local government control. It would be unseemly for you to leave immediately.” He paused for a moment to glance from the Imperial Military ID to Keldon’s face to gauge his reaction before he continued. Dropping the card down onto the table he gathered the documentation and handed it back to the former Thane.

”I’d like a letter of resignation from you, with a report attached on all projects and enquires made by your office. I’m sure you’ve kept a log of your activities that can be presented to me so that I might fill in until a suitable Thane has been found. The letter of resignation I will need to make a copy of and send in with my report to the Imperial Government.” He wrote these things on his list and then brought a hand up to pinch his nose to relieve some of the pressure he felt in his forehead.

”On another note I wish you all success in your new career. You have always played at being a military commander and it is only fit that you should try it out in reality.” Another pause as he looked at a piece of parchment on his desk, it appeared to be a letter with an imperial military seal on it also, though slightly different to that of Sheng’s own. ”On a side note, do you know of anyone else in the Imperial Military whom is interested in you? And no doubt your heroic activities in Paxia?” Once more those orbs focused upon Keldon’s features as he waited for an answer.

Keldon nodded his head during most of it and then spoke when Ral was done. "It is not a matter of accepting it... to be honest I would rather decline the position and remain here as Lord Thane. Primus Gaudeo... feels like home and I truly enjoy what I am doing here... however from what I have gathered with Imperial Law and the like. A summons of this nature is not something optional." Keldon move briefly to adjust for something that was poking him in the back on the chair and tilted his head. "I will be leaving office likely the beginning of the second month of summer. It will depend when the guest at my estate sent by the Provost Imperatis wishes to return. The leadership of the city will be decided in the future, I am going to be speaking with some officials in the city and there opinion in who should replace me which will be included in my resignation to you. Until a replacement is found I shall be forming a council to govern the city in my absence. Those members have yet been decided but among them are the three key leaders in the city thus far."

Keldon smirked and his eyes wandered for a moment. "To be honest Ralaric, I had no idea anyone in the first place was interested in me. I was visited by a military official in regards to a motion I made to have a Provost awarded a medal due to there actions in the Siege of Paxia not my own. Save for that... this... order caught me rather by surprise... in fact you are the only living soul in the city save for myself and the Provost Imperatis messenger that is aware of my.. reassignment." Keldon sighed briefly. "I was not aware there were those who knew of my actions, I know one of your knights should he still be alive was present at the Siege and the final hours. However I did not think many reports made it back since so long has passed from then until now."

He grinned as he heard what Keldon spoke of with regards to Primus Gaudeo and it becoming a home; Raliric of all people knew what Keldon was on about in that regard, he had fallen in love with Centripax the first time he had traveled through it and Primus Gaudeo had been home to him for nearly three eras now. ”Well, once your training has been completed then perhaps you will be transferred to one of the Imperial Legions in Centripax. You’ll then be within reach of your home.”

He nodded in agreement with the matters Keldon had taken into his hands with regards to finding a few suitable replacements with the assistance of the city council. Though he did frown when Keldon spoke of appointing a city council until a new leader had been appointed. ”The city council is already in effect, it has been the whole time. Do you speak of a new council that has been created?” He would not oppose the decision should Keldon inform him that a new council had been formed, though he would need to investigate it as the old city council was formed from the guilds, officials and influential people of Primus Gaudeo. Who was in this new council and when had it been formed?

He shrugged with regards to Paxia. ”I would not know if many reports made it out of Paxia. My knight whom did survive is in no state to speak of such matters… wounds to the neck and throat have a way of doing that.” He was not really interested in what had occurred in Paxia, he was simply putting out feelings with regards to why the Imperial Navy was interested. He did not press the matter.

”I shall be disheartened to see you leave, I must admit. You have been a welcome breath of fresh air in Primus Gaudeo and you had many plans to implement. I am sure your replacement will be adequate to the job of finishing those projects though I shall no doubt need to keep a keener eye on the workings of the city from now on.”

She approached the office of the Lt Governor and waited for his assistant to open the door for her so that she might enter. She had heard from sources with in the Government offices that the Thane was with Raliric. She had heard rumors from different places that the Thane had accepted a position with the Imperial Army and would be officially resigning from his role as Thane. Perhaps now after some discussion with Raliric she could look more closely at appointing a dwarf to the positon.

"Forgive my intrusion gentlemen; I had heard that you were here Thane Elsdragon. It has been some time since last we spoke I thought it would be nice to catch up with you again and hear all of your news." she said as she etered the room, flying over to Raliric's side.

Keldon nodded his head in response to Raliric. "It is possible I will be assigned to one of the legions stationed within the province, possibly Midpoint or perhaps one of the cities itself. But that would be upto the Provost Impartis to decide." Keldon signed briefly turning his gaze to Raliric. "Perhaps you where under the impression that the city had a council in creation. However it has long since been disbanded. As at present there is no such council within the city, I should know as I have made summons for it. But regardless the council will not be comprised of a president, or anything in that regards. It will be comprised of those who run the various sectors within the city." He said with a smile

"And you have been a welcome itch in my side, one that I will miss while in service to the Empire. Although I am sure we will pass once more, after all if your city grows it will eventually be assigned a military detachment. I shall have a report on your desk as soon as possible. I am sure once word reaches the ears of the city my office will become busy as it was when I first arrived." He said leaning into his chair.

Until he heard the knock ont he door and Sharinya enter the room. Should Raliric rise Keldon would aswel, however with the current amount of thoughts running through Keldon's mind he would not rise to greet the Governor unless Raliric did the same which would remind Keldon to do so aswel. Although he would turn and smile to her. "Serale your Excellency, indeed it has been sometime since you and I spoke. Perhaps to long," He said with a warm smile.

Raliric listened, nodding slightly and making a note to reinstate a city council and president for it as the Articles of the Imperium required him to do. Then nodded regarding the elf's posting. He was about to reply when the knock came and the door opened. He did indeed stand, for the Governor was his superiour and Raliric was a man who followed protocol... most of the time. It was a simple movement to his feet and inclination of his head in greeting before he sat down once again and watched the fae move to his side of the desk. Then his gaze returned to Keldon as the two spoke, he believed he should fill the Governor in on what they had just been discussing so they could get up to date.

”Keldon and I were just discussing his retirement from Thane of Primus Gaudeo and subsequent employment as a Provost in the Imperial Guard for his service during the siege of Paxia. He is quite the war hero it seems.” He paused a smiled at Keldon and then glanced back to Sharinya. ”He will be here for a month and then must leave for his tour of duty, however in the month we have with him he will be searching for candidates for the position of Thane to present to us so that we might decide on who best fits into his shoes. He will also be supplying us with a report on what he has accomplished during his time as Thane and what plans he had set in motion so that the next Thane may pick up where he left off.” Having filled the Governor in on what they had been saying he turned back to Keldon to finish what they were talking about regarding the elf's posting.

”Well, Primus Gaudeo is already a host to an Imperial Legion, and I doubt a second to be necessary. Riparia and Midpoint are the other cities with Legions stationed in them. I have yet to receive a report or informing letter regarding their movements and detachments throughout the province though. Have you?” He asked, turning to Sharinya and lifting a questioning brow.

Sharinya acknowledged that two men standing to greet her and bade them be seated as she herself sat down cross legged on Ralirics desk.

"You are resigning? A shame since you have not been here all that long. Still I am sure your new position will bring you some interesting challenges." she said to Keldon after Raliric gave her the news.


"With respect to finding a replacement suitable for you I must emphasise that I would look most favorably upon a Dwarf.

Centripax is the ancestral Kingdom of the Dwarven race and it would seem most fitting to work towards re-estblishing their presence in both the province and the Empire." she said looking from Keldon to Raliric and back at Keldon.

"Another thing Lord Keldon it occurs to me that we never discussed you stipend as Thane. Something I have overlooked." she said apolgeticaly as she turned to Raliric

"Perhaps this is a discussion you have had?" she said leaving the question to hang in the air.

Raliric shook his head. ”We have not, I have trusted in Keldon's judgment when it came to finances, however it is about time we addressed this issue and set a definitive sum on wages for the government of this province and the cities under its jurisdiction. Don't you agree?” He asked of Sharinya and Keldon, though he did not wait for an answer as he stood and moved to the door, opening it so that he stick his head out and speak with Regal. ”Can you please go and fetch the Assistant Exchequer and Aedile and tell them it is with regards to Local and Provincial Government Wages. They should bring their records of such wages and payouts that have occurred within the last era with them to this office as soon as possible. And if they need some help, lend a hand so that it can be all the quicker.” A smile. ”My Thanks, Regal.”

Then his head returned to the room and he moved over to a side table which contained a pitcher of water and some glasses, there were even fae sized glasses just for an occasion when the fae Governor might come to visit him. ”While we are waiting for the Assistant Exchequer and Aedile would you like any refreshments?” He poured himself an Arakmatan glass of water and would proceed to pour the desired drink of the others before handing it to them and then resuming his seat at the desk.

”Now, let us begin with the local government. What do you believe should be a suitable wage for you and your staff Keldon?” He began as he withdrew a new piece of parchment and dipped his quill into the ink pot so that he could write down the sums of crowns that the soon to be former Thane suggested.

Whilst Sharinya waited for the information Raliric requested she turned to Lt. Governor

"I thinkRaliric that in light of Keldon's new appointment that we allow him to forgo a period of time before his resignation takes effect and make it immediate as of this brightening. That will allow him time to get his affairs in order here and take up his new post without delay.

Thus until a replacement is found you will handle the affairs of the city commencing as of now." she said.

[Raliric Ered`Gard]

Raliric could not help but clear his throat and turn to look at the Governor, he did not agree with what she had just said and he was not afraid to tell her. He was not one to merely sit back and allow something he did not agree with to occur and in this matter the interests of Primus Gaudeo were at stake. ”Whilst I agree that it would give Keldon a suitable amount of time to see to his business in Primus Gaudeo, I do believe that that amount of time will have already been taken into account in between the official date of his resignation and the commencement of his duties as an Imperial Soldier. Thus I believe that it would be in Primus Gaudeo's best interests to keep Keldon on for the next month so that he can, as I said before, see to documenting his plans and the projects he already began with Primus Gaudeo with the remainder of his time. This will allow the next thane, whomever that may be, to easily pick up where Keldon left of.” there was a small pause so that he could look from the Governor to Keldon.

”Not to mention that should we find someone to fill his position within this coming month, that person can work with Keldon to further succeed at taking over the reigns. You must also remember that for most of this season and the next I will not be in Primus Gaudeo.” He shook his head and looked back to the governor.

”No, I believe that it would be best for all if Keldon stayed on in his capacity as Thane of Primus Gaudeo until the end of this month.” He said it pleasantly and succinctly, though it was clear he would not budge on that particular issue. Sharinya would need to officially order his Lieutenant Governor in this matter and over ride his judgment; which thus far had not been wrong.

Keldon was about to speak in regards to the pay for government officials. He had forgone his own pay recently to better the city as he saw no need to receive one. "Wel..." He cut himself short when he heard Sharinya, he had his own comment in his head although Raliric cut himself short and stated his own opinion.

Nodding his head after Raliric finished he looked to the Governor. "I would have to agree with the Lieutenant Governor, wrapping up things that are already in progress, such as seeing to the beginning of a newly expanded guard, along with financial interests of the city that his Excellency is working on would be in the best interests of the city itself." He nodded once more, slightly surprised, although he choose the word Excellency to refer to Raliric carefully. "Whoever is bestowed the honor to lead the city after I, would benefit with a introduction to the city. Being sent into the position where the only Thane for sometime is I, would not benefit the city. It would likely stall it for sometime until the new Thane is caught up with the current affairs before any new judgements or plan can be revised."

Sharinya listened to both Raliric and Keldon; disappointed in Raliric in so much as she felt he had not supported her decision to allow the elf to leave straight away. Now she felt she was going to have to save face.

”You might be right Sir Raliric and I will defer to you in this matter since you yourself will be absent from the Province for a period of time.” she conceded.
