[Thanal Manor] - Tippy Toe Past The Big Scary Captain!

Third Darkening of the First Cycle in the Month of Cryxatum, in the Season of Spring; Era I of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIII Post Fractum. The First Era of the Regency of Milo L'Evienne.

The sun had set several candlemarks ago, Lord Keldon Elsdragon was out of his estate, moving through the city with a large escort heading towards the Incola, and from there who only knows where else. Guards patrolled the walls for those who would attempt to harm the thane or just damage the estate, or steal of the Thane, and the city.

The one charges with protection of the grounds was a Captain in the guard, atleast she was now. It was only the past winter when the Lord Thane appointed her, at random and chance for the most part. Since the Thane had ample escort she was left to tend to her duties here at the estate.

Little did she know, or any guard on the compound know several small feet were a muck within the compound moving silently with a giggle or two, or a motion of "Silent" on there little fingers.

Yarrow sighed and pushed some reports out of her way and stood. Her back ached from too long of a sit and she needed to get up and walk and that was exaclty what she did. Her first action was to go outside to view what the gate guards were up to. The men saw her and strightened even further. Is it fear that makes them do that or am I just looking too much into it? Yarrow wondered as she walked up closer to see who was on duty. "Anything going on, Inwe?" Yarrow asked the elf who she spotted first. The fellow seemed a little uneasy.

Inwe was the type who was rather paranoid, and at times it almost got him thrown off the post he was at now when he suspected a elderly lady bringing a wonderful gift to the thane with trying to poison the Thane, it was along time ago, it was not a pretty sight when he threw the lady against the wall and started searching her, even more so when she broke her arm from hitting the hard stone walls.

As Yarrow approached he, and his partner straightening there backs and took a quick look around for someone to pester so they would look like they were doing SOMETHING other then standing around and looking pretty... although it was hard for these two to look pretty, Inwe was half dwarven and half human, he had the height of a human, but the hair of a dwarf. He was once mistaken for a dorin and decided to keep himself moderately trimmed. Although he was a still a scruffy fuzzy little bugger with dark brown hair. "Not much ma'm a caravan broke infront of the gate sometime ago, but since then it's been rather quiet ma'm." He said with a minor shrug. "Expecting some company ma'm?"

ooc: of course "Inwe" is an elf name and I did call him an elf, but it's all good!!

ic: "No company that I know of, Inwe." Yarrow told the half-dwarf. "Continue as you were." Yarrow told him and his partner and then turned toward the keep but then thought better of it. The thane had recently left the keep and would not be home. There is no one in there that needs checking on then... She thought to herself as she combed the walls and eyed those who patroled it. She calmly nodded at each as she passed to try and make them less nervous, but she had no idea if it helped or not.

Inwe nodded. "Well suppose thats all fine and dandy mam," As she walked away he leaned up against the wall and began to resume the conversation with his fellow guard, it was rather obvious that guarding the estate was considered a low priority job at the moment, since he had yet to manage to make any enemy's. Yet. It was late, and most of the guards on the walls cared very little, as Yarrow approached they merely nodded there heads in return and greeted her with the required "Ma'm" and kept moving.

On the other side of the compound the movement of feet managed to reach a side access door. However it was locked, after a brief tug to open it which failed then moved to a window which led to one of the rooms in the rear of the building for a servants quarters. It was open, and giving each other a helping hand the three small figures climbed through the opening in the large estate and crept around the room silently making way for its door into the open halls.

After making her rounds she decided to try the manor anyway. It is better then walking around out here anyway. She thought. Besides, I bet it is warmer inside. Yarrow turned back to the main doorway where the guards nodded. The men were bored. Yarrow made a mental note to suggest something entertaining for her men to the Thane. Perhapes a friendly sword play session, winner gets something interesting... She thought that might keep them interested for a little bit and boasting rights would follow. That might make someone cocky and unliked though... She decided and scratched the idea. I'll think of something. She decided and she entered the front hall.

Little did the Captain know there was already sparring matches going on between the guards, many of them had bets of crowns for who would win. It was something that took place within the guards for patterns on top of patterns. This month the man who won the sparring match was also someone who was being punished by a Lieutenant for doing some foolish things while on duty with a barmaid in the guardhouse. So he was stuck cleaning the latrine of the guard detachment at the estate.

As Yarrow entered the Estate Arabella was still up and about the house, she was being a little slow today as the Thane was not around and would not likely return for several candlemarks. So he was humming gently to herself dusting some of the desks in the main entrance hall. "Serale Captain, wondering the compound looking for trouble again?" She asked with a smile and a cute little voice as she kept dusting.

Yarrow smiled back at her and shook her head. "I don't look for trouble!" Yarrow told the woman with a smile. "Trouble always finds me." She laughed and shook her head. "But I don't think I'll find any trouble here today." Yarrow told her, looking around. "It's a quiet day while the master's away!"

Arabella giggled a little. "Sure, just like his lordship doesn't look for times to point out to people who are doing some type of misdeed or point out someones rather neglect for there service to people..." she said with a smile and nodded once more. "Yes... it is much quieter while he is not here... Adriana and his grace are not scurrying around the estate like the love birds they are...." Arabella cut herself short when she realized what she was saying, and to whom she was saying it to. She quickly shut her mouth and nodded. In society saying such things could get a maid in a very large amount of trouble with there master, or even the masters mistress.

Yarrow smiled good natured like and realized the woman felt uncomfortable with the last comment. "Those two do make a cute couple." Yarrow tried to put the woman at ease. He needs a wife. Yarrow thought fondly. It would help to have a mistress in the house, but she wondered how her duties would change if that would ever occur. I'll worry about that when it happens. Yarrow told herself. "Well I am just going to check out the other rooms to see if everything is as it should be." Yarrow told the woman with a kind smile.

Arabella nodded his head. "Yes they do make a lovely pair mam, but I am not sure what you would be looking for in those daft old rooms. Nothing in there but the odd guest his lordship brings back to the estate. Diana only knows he loves to fill these rooms... which is a wonderful change never the less."

Yarrow nodded her head. "I am only looking." She replied with a shrug. "Besides it gives me something to do!" Yarrow said with a laugh. "I need it when Keldon is away. He seems to always have something I need to do so I am out of sorts when he is away." Yarrow said.

"Well that be your choice m'lady. But please let us know if you find a stray mouse in one of the rooms. There have been two little buggers who refuse to leave the thanes graces." Arabella said with a smirk.

In the rear of the estate little feet moved once more towards to rear of the mansion heading for the servants staircase's that lead to the upper levels. Slowly and silently they opened the doors to the rooms and hallways as they moved through the lavish building.

Yarrow chuckled and shook her head. "Only two mice? I am surprised that there isn't anymore!" Yarrow grinned and moved off again. She wanted to make sure everything was all as it should be on the lower levels before moving up to the more personal floor.

Yarrow made a show of looking over all the guardsmen on duty here, but they looked as bored as she was. They pretended at least to be sharp and alert while she was around, but Yarrow wondered if they relaxed their gaurd as soon as she vanished from sight. Yarrow shrugged her shoulders and moved toward the upper levels.

Yarrow looked around her as she went. The estate held a lot of beautiful things in it and Yarrow could not help but admire them as she explored the grounds.

Arabella smiled and silently said to herself.. "Oh no there are more then two... and those little buggers bite..." looking at her finger and returning to her work as Yarrow walked off to her duties.

It was a understatement in her thoughts though. As she left the rooms of the guards they returned to leaning against the walls or stands near there posts and resume idol conversation. It was how it was done here and all over the city, for longer then anyone could remember. Nothing special at present to guard and they were there just encase. Which was unlikely to happen.

The two little feet moved silently through the hallways on the upper level as no guards were posted on the higher floors. One ducked around the corner into the Adriana's bedroom which lucky for him was empty, however the second was not so luck as that is when Yarrow came around the corner.

Standing infront of her was a young boy, perhaps the age of seven. Long curly blond hair crept down his shoulders and clothing of questionable manor clad his body. The question now was what someone so young, poorly dressed was doing inside the Thanal Estate alone, with no one aware of his presence.

Yarrow looked around her as she went. The estate held a lot of beautiful things in it and Yarrow could not help but admire them as she explored the grounds. "Ah... eh.... er..." the boy said looking at Yarrow like a deer looking into the eyes of a lion expecting its death.
