Gem [Office of the Lieutenant Governor, Neav’ekel Nia’mnyth ]

Besides the grand double-doors that opened to the office of the Governor was the smaller single-door that opened to the Lt. Governor's office. There wasn't that much difference between the sizes and such, but enough to allow one to realize who had the higher power in this governmental establishment. Above the door a steel sign read: Office of the Lt. Governor. On each side of the door a row of Phoenix Legion Guards stood, the Lt. Governor's personal guard from any hostile intrusion.

The office was quite large, although much smaller than the hallway that led to it. Its floors and walls were marble that seemed to have a dull blue sheen. Most of the walls, however, were covered with huge windows revealing the serenity of the natural surroundings of the Concordia. The light let in by these windows allowed the marble floor to sparkle and brought a sense of life to the room, invigorating all that entered.

Now, the room had taken on a much more homely appearance, if you were or certain races. A map of the Empire, which had been lovingly drawn in black ink was hung in the spaces between the windows, the individual maps would needed to be removed to view the Empire correctly. Little drawings of creatures had been added to the corners, birds, lions, bears and such. All the regimental chairs had been removed and replaced by specially made chairs for those with wings and tails.

The assistant’s desk was as busy as always, full of papers and books. Behind the desk a huge grey Dorin with glasses and a feather in his hat scribbled on pieces of paper. Looking up with a toothy grin, Regal Nebrask spoke in a soft tone "Serale, how may I help you?"

Before her desk sat two comfortable looking chairs, aside from those special made ones, for those waiting to see the Lt. Governor. Once allowed to pass one would have to enter another room through a small door, which was usually opened unless there was important business going on. In this room the Lt. Governor's desk sat backed up against the far wall in between two large windows. Before the desk there were two chairs for guests visiting the Lt. Governor.

Inside the office, a large wolf like dog lounged beside the fire, legs twitching in his sleep. Behind the desk a Draconess read over papers, scribbled notes or, should the dog be awake, threw an offered ball. The office itself held a bookcase, which held few books, but held Dracon curiosities. Carved bones, a model Matare and some small toys. The new Lt. Governor would look up slowly to those that entered, her hybrid eyes watching the visitor carefully before standing slowly to greet. The autumn scales of Neav’ekel Nia’mnyth shone golden on sunny days, or silver upon the cloudy. With a Draconic smile, she offered her assistance.

Early Autumn, Era XII

The dorin was familiar to Manijoor, he had after all had a large part in the creatures recruitment and there was a closeness between aides after all and it hadn't been so long since Manijoor had occupied that desk.

Serale Regal. I need the Lieutenant Governor to come along with me to see the Governor. She has a meeting with the Exchequer and it's time that both she and her Lieutenant got to grips with the real power in the Province. If you could ask her to come along to the meeting?

Bearding the Lt

Mid Junctior, Autumn, Era XII

There arrived in the early part of the brightening a dwarf, looking akin to many of the dwarfs who could be found in the city; black leather jerkin, chainmail on the shoulders and an equipment belt that currently was missing the weapons that would normally grace it and no axe blade rode behind his head, evidence that the Cuirasseurs had deftly removed them before allowing the dwarf into the Hall of the Governor.

He moved confidently over to the desk of the aide and met his stare challengingly.

Serale. Harow Sharpaxe at yer service. I'd like to meet the Lieutenant Governor to see if she will give me her support. I hear that she isn't one of them pansy elves that we've had to put up with for patterns, running our city as though they owned the place! He stuck his thumbs in his belt and tugged at his beard, grey hairs just visible in the dark brown growth.

The grey Dorin looked up at the person before his desk and stood slowly. He was tall, an inch or two shy of the Lt Governor’s body height. With a shift of his tail, he bowed to the man and turned to the door. Knocking gently and opening the entrance to the internal office, an excited yap met the grey Dorin.

Exiting the office, he took his seat and was soon followed by a tall Draconess. The autumn scales were a myriad of colours and clicked slightly as she walked. Wearing a simple white shirt and brown trouser, Neav’ekel turned to the Dorin.
He’ll need a walk at lunch time.” Gesturing to the black dog in her office, the Dorin nodded to the request.

Regal looked at the dwarf as he entered, leaning forward to see him better. The Dorin was just about to head out to lunch and was wearing his feathered hat. Glancing at the book he excused himself to check upon the Draconess. Upon returning he led the dwarf to the door and turned to leave, exiting the office and out into the city.

The Draconess sat on the floor, paper spread on the space beside the fire. A huge black guard dog watched the antics of the Dracon, his paw resting on the edge of a paper nearest to him. Turning to look at the dwarf, he gave a little ‘riff’, causing Neav’ekel to look up properly.
Good morning, you wish too seek my support, my assistant said. Please take a seat.” Pulling herself to her feet, Neav’ekel refolded her wings and took her chair behind her desk. “I am Neav’ekel Nia’mnyth, and what might be your name be?

The dwarf watched the exit of the dorin with interest and was even more curious about the person of the Lieutenant Governor, a curiousity that was soon satisfied and he took the indicated seat.

Serale. Harow Sharpaxe at yer service. He repeated the name that he had given to her assistant. Well yes lass I was hoping that you could. I hope that I don't sound as though I'm speaking out of turn but I represent a group of shall we say businessmen in the city and to be frank with you, we are fed up with the way that our city has been run as though it were some poor cousin of an elven city.

I'm speaking bluntly with you, because that is my way and if I give offense then I'm sorry for that but sometimes the truth needs to be spoken even if it is painful.

He watched her with bright eyes before continuing though he didn't have too much more to say before waiting for her reaction. We want to know whether or not yer going to listen to the people of the city or iffen yer gonna just be the lapdog of that elf that thinks she can lord it over us like the last one thought she could, and look where it left her.

The bluntness of the dwarf stopped Neav’ekel mid sit down. Resting in her seat she listened to his words and held back that nagging buzz of anger. Clasping her talons together, she leaned forward on the desk.
Sir, I will listen to the people of this city, which has now become my home. I will not, however, allow you to converse with me further if you are going to speak about the Lady Governor in such a way.”She paused, unclasping her hands and resting them flat on the desk. “I feel your pain of such a matter, but that gives no such right for this attitude toward the Governor, especially in my presence. This city is run with a steady hand and a loving lady at its stead, as her Lieutenant I will follow such a standing” Standing up she stepped around her desk and moved to the door, opening it and holding it firm. “So, if you want my help, I would require an apology for your bluntness. If you do not want my help, then please leave.

The dwarf stood, disappointment on his features but also a grim determination too.

I ken understand yer loyalty but I'd say that yer first loyalty is to the people of this Province. I've already said that I won't apologise for my views and I won't. I don't care iffen you think the Governor is loving or not, she is still a poncy elf an we don trust her.

He walked out of the door and turned the other side to look back. This won't be the last ye hear of this an it'll be remembered too that ye didna wan to listen to us. He fixed her with a glare and then turned and walked off.

Junctior 21, Autumn, Era XII

A soot stained Officer of the Guard of Primus made his way into the Office of the Lieutenant Governor. He was there early, just after the sunlight had lit the office windows and he clutched an envelope tightly in his hands.

He waited patiently to be seen and he didn't intend to be fobbed off until he had seen the Lieutenant Governor.

The Diamond sparkles

It seemed that that the young female dwarf, with her blue eyes contrasting with the bright, red ribbons woven through her blond hair and down her beard in intricate patterns, was becoming a regular visitor to the Concordia, but this was her first visit to this office.

She entered confidently and went straight to the desk of the assistant.

Serale, Gertha Copperhand from the Diamond. I've come to speak to the Lieutenant Governor about the incident at Flawcroft Manor.

The Dorin was still partaking in his morning yawning when the dwarf arrived. Eyeing the small person carefully, the Dorin stood, leaving the guards to check the dwarf for weapons and holding any on their person. Regal returned, holding the door open for the dwarf, a small bow in his tall stance.

The Draconess sat in her chair, wings left at a comfortable, slightly lazy position, a mug of tea in her taloned hand. Looking to the dwarf, she offered a taloned hand to a chair and sat back.
Its very early sir, I hope this journey didn’t put you out of your sleeping habits. It bloody well put me out of mine. Rubbing the differently coloured eyes, she sipped the mug of hot tea and offered one to the dwarf. “So Sir, how can I help you?

OOC: I am assuming these are one after the other, and I am RPing as such.
IC: Regal nodded, standing slowly and padding over to the Lieutenant’s office. Returning a few moments after she had been searched for weapons, the lady dwarf was allowed into the office.

The Draconess sat in her chair, the huge guard dog’s head resting on her lap as he had his ears scratched. The amber eyes turned to look at the approaching stranger as his nose twitched in the air. Neav’ekel smiled to the dwarf, offering a seat opposite her own.
Regal tells me you are here to discuss Flawcroft Manor, Ms Copperhand.

ooc: Yes they are and sorry to keep dumping double posts on you, it just seems to work out that way - I'll defer the newspaper interview for now else it'll get very confusing!

The Guard officer took the chair gratefully and without a thought as to whether or not his smudged form would leave it in need of cleaning after, but then he had other things on his mind. It didn't stop him accepting the offer of tea either and he slumped back in the chair, clutching the mug in both hands.

Thank you, that is something I needed, but no, would that it did, I've been up all darkening dealing with the fire at Flawcroft Manor. Normally such a thing would be put down to a candle or some such and a careless servant, but this time it seems to have been deliberate and it seems to have something to do with Her Excellency, for there was a note left addressed to her, and I can only assume that it was left by the perpetrators.

The dwarf took the seat having left the oversized dagger that had been tucked underneath her beard in the outer office.

Yes indeed, and thank you for seeing me so promptly your Excellency. I wish that we'd had the chance ta meet before, but this matter at Flawcroft Manor has come up and my editor has sent me here to find out more and perhaps get some comments or a statement from you for our readership.

She glanced down at the notebook that never was far from her hand. Yes indeed, now the facts that we know are that the Manor burned last darkening, fortunately without loss of life, but reports say that there was a note left for yourself by those who set the fire. So we were wondering if you could enlighten us on what has been happening? She smiled brightly but there was a wolfish element that the Lieutenants dog might have recognised. The Diamond had its nose to the trail and they were going to report something, exactly what though would be down to how forthcoming this interview proved to be.

Sipping the sea, the blue eye looking at the dwarf, the Draconess set the mug down slowly.
Oh, you wish to leave the note with me so I may pass it on?” Having heard all too much of the fire in the early hours of the morning, Neav’ekel had been preparing herself for an onslaught, thankfully he was the first, and hopefully last.

Turning to face the dwarf fully, her canines just visible. “I am glad the fact that no one is injured, but you have no leads as to may have caused this I assume?

Adder 2
Sitting back in the specially designed seat for her from, the Draconess examined her talons for the moment before setting them on the desk.
I can only say that it is an atrocity of the highest and thankfully no one was injured in the blaze. I can assure your readers an investigation is underway so we may find the perpetrator.” Pausing for a moment, the Draconess sat forward. “As for the note, it was not addressed to me, but to the Lady Governor of this city. I have not seen the note with my own eyes and therefore can not comment on its contents.

Guard

The officer started, realising that he did indeed still hold the letter in his hand and with a slight flush visible through the slight smudging of soot on his face, passed over the requested envelope and then sat back.

Well there isn't much that can be known aside from the fact that someone raised the alarm, so we can guess that whoever did this only wanted the attention. I was hoping that you might be able to help with that given that this note was addressed to you. There haven't been any real problems for a while, not since the gangs in the Hidden City slaughtered their way to a draw anyway.

The letter itself, slightly smudged with fingerprints still bore the the address clearly though and once opened would reveal a single piece of paper, the script thereon cursive and well practiced.[/b]

Quote:
To the Lieutenant Governor.

The time for action is upon us and no longer will we accept what has been thrust upon us. You wouldn't help so now we need to take our own action. The people will see you for what you are soon enough.

Paper

The dwarf raised an eyebrow, her pen poised as the hairs arched. To the Governor you say? Well now, that is news indeed and not what our informant told us. But thank you for the clarification. I appreciate that it is too early for any news, but I had been hoping that you might have something more. But I'll have to press the Governor herself then.

She stood and smiled, bobbing her head. Well thank you for your time, I'd best get this back to the office so they can get it into press.

Unless the Lieutenant Governor stopped her, she would make her way out of the office, her mind active with the implications of what she had just heard.
