New Player Questions
Hi, I'm new to Aelyria, migrating over from Desert Realm.
I want to play a wandering gypsy character that I have pretty fully fleshed out in my head, but had a few questions first:
1) can I start off with any skills? If so, how many, to what level?
2) should I post a character sheet before I start RPing? Does it need to be approved?
3) what is a good way to jump on in?

Cray, I helped develop the Air'riela stuff, so I can answer some of these.
1. Yes, you can trade your 'hovel' for one basic level skill, and if a GM works it out right, you can probably get a family or a caravan to travel with. You can also hook up with other Gypsies to play with them (they are already roaming). I can help you with a starting package if you'd like.
2. No, you don't have to post a CIR before you start posting. Sometimes you need to start posting to get a feel for what you want on the CIR... but its always a good idea to get a CIR as soon as possible.
3. The best way to get started is to meet up with people! Can I recommend PMing Oriana Kemenlo or Nessani Kemenlo. They are going strong on their Air'riela PCs right now, and definitely wandering. There are also posts for Gypsy family members in the Matchmaker. You can also post a POST in the Matchmaker forum (click play, click support, click matchmaker) and advertise for folks that want to pal around with a new gypsy.

I would love for some help with a starting package. The basics I have down is a character who is very passionate and puts great enthusiasm into his endeavours, but also very fickle and afraid of commitment, with a common theme of running away. I was considering skills in Line Drifting, but I'm not sure on that.
I will definitely check out the Kemenlos and Matchmaker too. Thanks for the suggestions.

What she said
Also:
2) Note that CIR's are obligated. The obligated parts are very small though and as Goss said, we don't mind if you want to get a few posts in first before you make one (more info here).

On further inspection, I haven't noticed a way to upload or link my own avatar. Do I need a special account for this, or am I just missing the button?

Hey, Cray, welcome to the game.
Aelyria has a bunch of standard avatars that you can use. IF you want to use your own custom one you have to pay for a companionship.
More info on that here
