I'm pretty new to Aelyria, but I am a seasoned Role Player who's been writing regular for quite some time. At the moment, I'm attempting to roleplay a pirate-like character in Portshire, but am not sure of how exactly to get into the adventuring bit of Aelyria..

Welcome and I hope you're having fun! Best way I can recommend to get into adventuring would be to post in the OOC or moderation request thread of your city. If you've got a very rough idea what you want to do, put that down. If not, i'm sure a moderator will talk to you about your aims and goals for your PC... and then craft something for you from there.

Be warned though, adventures -can- take a while to complete, but they are well worth it.

Note that Portshire will be without a GM soonish. There might be a lack of activity if none steps in to pick up the city.
