“Where city should I start in?” is a commonly asked question from new players. Often this depends on your character concept, and you’re welcome to start a discussion on this in a new thread in this forum.
However, to help you with your decision, there is a short summary of all the cities and what they offer in the
General Description of All Cities thread. The first post of this thread summarises all the cities currently open which have their own forum in the
index of cities. The second and third post summarises other cities which do not have a dedicated forum, however you can still visit them if you post in the wilderness forum for their province.
All cities in Aelyria are new player friendly and you are free to start in whichever city catches your imagination. The temptation is often to start in the city with the greatest gathering of players, but sometimes this means that the GMs and AGMs there are over-stretched and you might find it difficult to progress if you are needing moderation.
However, below are the cities where Game Masters are actively looking for new players to join their city. Feel free to send the GM a private message if you want to discuss the potential opportunities for you PC in their city, or join the OOC thread for that city if you have questions. Alternatively, just jump in there and start writing your PC’s story in that city. These GMs are eagerly awaiting new players!

General Training Opportunities:
Arcana - The Mystic Plains School of Magic teaches Elementalism, Mysticism, Druidism and Sorcery.
Combat - The Blades of Carmelya will train you in almost any weapon for a fee, but they are also a fearsome fighting force always looking for new recruits. A blade is never seen until you're swimming in the Umblat.
Trade - Candaceburg is mostly a trading town, focussed on agricultural pursuits. But it's proximity to the capital also makes it very political, almost any trade skill or non war skill can be learned in Candaceburg
Religious Establishments: No official establishments. There is a general favoritism towards Carmelya.
Special: Described as the breadbasket of the Empire Candaceburg is neither made of wicker, nor filled with bread. It is in fact a small town of approximately 40 to 50 thousand citizens who sit in the dead centre of the Agrarian Plains. It is surrounded by thousands of acres of farmland that stretch as far as the eye can see. Even in winter the climate is fair here due to the enchantments placed upon the land by the Ancient Aelyrians. Miraculously, the fields harvest despite the chill and the constant out pouring of food is known to continue all through winter. The town itself is walled and patrolled by a private military force known solely as the Blades. Perhaps more interesting, there is also an inter dimensional rip a short distance from the city.
