Wrong Place, Wrong Time, But It Doesn't Matter
Mid-Morning in Solaria, Cryxatum in the Season of Summer
This was a bad idea.
Ashandra stared around herself, just inside the gates of Vortex. She wasn't really sure what she was doing here, what had drawn her to this city, out of all the others she could have visited. No matter -- she didn't plan to stay long.
Just a quick visit -- that was all. Then she would move on. Already she fel tuncomfortable, as if some great weight was settling on her shoulders.
She shouldn't have come here.
Wrapping her arms around herself, grapping her elbows tightly in pale hands, she chose a direction at random, beginning to walk quickly. She still didn't know what she was doing, but anything was better than simply standing there, looking like some kind of fool.
She wasn't really paying attention to where she was going, eyes downcast and watching her feet as they passed over the roadway. Perhaps she was hoping to run in to somebody, for some kind of confrontation. At least it then she would have known what to do.
