Nice to meet you (White Night's Drink)
The Month of Cryxatum in the Season of Summer, Era II of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIV Post Fractum, the Second Era of the Regency of Milo L'Evienne.
Kalenel, the rogue prince of the fallen house of Vamai'ai, walked along the streets of the Southern Quarter with his trusted dagger near his palm. He knew too well the dangers of these streets and alleys, having been on and off the surface of Vortex for a near 30 patterns now. His cloak was pulled tightly about him, the hood hiding about all of his facial features. Few if any knew him in this part of the city, and he would like to keep it that way especially if anything went sour for him. Fingering his dagger, hidden behind the folds of his cloak, he assured himself that it was ready to be drawn if needed. Without pause, Kalenel preceded into the the tavern he had grown to enjoy.
The White Night's Drink was a place Kalenel always seemed to enjoy more with an abundance of crowns at his disposal. That was sadly not the case today, he had just enough crowns to survive off of and did not intend to overspend. That, of course, was subject to change if he wheted his lips with some ale.
Setting a few silver on the table, Kalenel accepted a glass of water for now. Leaning his back to the bar counter, he observed the scene of the tavern.

The Faerie sitting on the corner of a table against one of the walls took a sip of the small cup while she looked at the latest guest. There weren’t many Vysstichi that hung around in these parts and even less entered this establishment. The bartender was one of course, but aside from him, mostly Dracons visited the tavern. Granted, there weren’t many Fae that visited either, but that was for other reasons. Below the tavern was a bigger variety of patrons, including some of the more rare races in the city such as a Gnome, a Lightborn, a Mer and yours truly of course. And then you had the rumours of an even more rare being residing. Now that she thought about it, it was almost if the tavern attracted all oddities living above ground in this city.
Amber gave a glance at Rokagu, wondering what his was here for. Investigating rumours or just a drink? The Mystic no doubt already knew what the latest guest was here for.

As of now, Kalenel knew only the common rumors of the oddities below the tavern he was relaxing in at the moment. The fallen prince sipped his water slowly, taking frequent pauses between drinks. Growing bored fast with his surroundings, Kalenel thought it best to strike up a conversation with the bartender. "What's new around Vortex, friend?" He asked rather bluntly as he turned to face him.

OOC: No worries on short posts.
The Vysstichi almost looked annoyed at the question. He wasn’t the talkative type and never shared the truly notable information with strangers anyway. Far from the jovial bartender that kept telling stories and tales while refilling and slowly draining the content of his guests’ pockets. Still, he was friendly enough to reply.
“Nothing much. The city keeps running pretty much as it has been before. Not that I’m complaining. If you look at just the latest few eras we have had Orcs running rampant, mystics decimating the population, Imperials barging in to arrest the captain of the guard… If those are going to be the notable events we have then I say we can do without. Though there’s exceptions to that I suppose. A lot less trouble with lowlife thugs in these parts since the Thane took out the Blood Alley Gang.” He nodded towards the Fae at the table when he mentioned the Thane.
To the casual observer, the area around the tavern had always been free of thieves and cutthroats. It wasn’t just the rumours on the tavern that had kept them away. Occasionally Rogaku and other members of the cult had actively removed annoying elements.

The rogue noted how the barkeep seemed annoyed by his uninteresting question, maybe he would have something more important to bring to him later...
Looking over his shoulder to the area where the vysstichi nodded, Kalenel let out a small smirk. If it was a rare occurence that Kalenel was here in this part of the city, then it was a phenomenon that the thane was here. Not wanting to pass up the oppurtunity to meet one of importance, Kalenel made his way over to her table. But, not before ordering another cup of whatever the fae was drinking.
"Serale, I am Kalenel Vamai'ta. The name of my city's thane escapes my though..." The fallen prince said with another small grin, one which perfectly accentuated his handsome visage. "Oh, yes. This is for you." Kalenel said, handing over the cup to the thane. "Consider it a token of my appreciation."

HAHAHA!! Grunted the fat balding barkeep, "What happened next?
To that, the blue elven creature responded with a theatrical blow to the ears of nearby peers and such..."And then, he gave me a kriss! The stupid orc-gave me- a kriss!" Then calming almost to a wisper the elf shot arrow tiped words to the tender with a clever overtone attached to it. "I took me dagger..." Then loudly bursts, '...and i STABBED HIM IN THE BACK"
The bartender and nearby patrons cheer over his victory against the orcs during the riot, for he had participated in alot of what happened those days. Changing sides every now and then to gain a little more chink in his jink, ta boot! He had lead the orcs to the dark elves on occasion aswell, because, everyone knows how bad dark elves are eh? After the cheering and celebration of Ein's superious and most glorious victory against the orc, the elf's eyes shot toward his side, and traced a man, nearing another patron. This guy sounded unfamiliar he did. What poor soul is this that the malocious blue elf has come across? His pink eyes widen as he tries to get a visual record of the man. Though, as always, it was a fruitless cause..the trying to see bit. but boy, he could sure hear a pindrop a mile away...not a sound escaped the ears of this elf, not one. He over heard him give her a token of his appreciation...Why? The elf wondered, "What was the..-Reason. For this? People do not simply give strangers gifts...but perhaps, I am over looking this feature." He thought.
He was just finishing some of his drink, when he slyly turned, as if going into a character, he slaps his hand on the shoulder of the strange man and blurts out..."How ye doin man?!"
Now was his time to asses and gain more knowlage from this stranger, as always, he wanted to learn more, because you cannot control without knowlage, can you? Of course not. And in every situation this blue elf would encounter, he wanted to make sure, be absolutly certain, that he was the dominator...though, it is in his blood, the history of his people have had this scenrio played out many times, espesialy against the dark elves...

Kalenel had looked forward to conversing quietly with the thane, it was not every day you could talk to such a figure in Vortex. So it was no surprise that the rogue's crimson eyes glared angrily as he intercepted the hand that would of touched his shoulder. He was not the loud type, but he was stern stype...
"Do not touch me if you value your hand," Kalenel snapped harshly in his his heavy accent. He turned to face the man head on, within arms reach. Pride would not let him step down from the elf, so now it was the elf's decision on what to do next.

“Before you cut of any hands I’d go outside though. This tavern has some excellent bouncers.” She grinned. “This tavern didn’t have any trouble keeping the orcs out back when they flooded the place.” She wasn’t one to eavesdrop on people, but he had been loud enough that she couldn’t not listen. She eyed Einhandr mischievously.
It’s not that she didn’t believe him, but she was sceptical on his bragging. She had been one of the people that helped taking out the Orcs that assaulted the tavern, killing a handful of them, and she had personally been the one that had convinced the Orc chief to make the riots stop. She didn’t brag much on it though. It’s not that she would mind getting recognized for her deeds, it was just that they way she had done it was by less then legal means. Knowing the Thane of Vortex was a necromancer and a prominent member of a Jorelite cult most likely wouldn’t sit too well with some people.
“But I appreciate the drink.” If Kalenel would have inspected it he would have seen a see-though greenish liquid. A simple fruit juice, because it was refreshing and the Fae didn’t hold liquor too well. “I hope you didn’t pay for it though, because my drinks are on the house here.” She winked at the Vysstichi with a sly grin.

"Hey, stranger!" He yelped.. "There be no need ta be gettin all hostile now..."
Well, this was surely a snapper if there ever was one. In the long run, i doubt it would take much to get him lit..Could be useful. "Where to go from here?" he thought. So, he pushed himself back a few steps...back to the bar he was at and sized them down. Noteing if they could have places to conceal a weapon or two... The male certainly didn't look like a magic user. The other creature was anybodys guess. All in all, pretty harmless id say...
"What brings you here stranger?" Shruging off the event as if it did not happen...
ooc: sorry for the shorty, not really in the mood, heh

"Definetly not the likes of you," Kalenel said harshly one last time as he turned back to the thane. The look he gave the elf was one of intensity and ferocity, but by the time he set his gaze set upon the Fae once more, his visage returned to one of grace. The prince was used to the likes of the elf, and knew just how to deal with them. Appearently, he had handled the situation perfectly.
"I've heard the stories, thanks for the advice though..." Kalenel stated with another of his more and more famous smile. The way he ended the sentence asked the Fae for her name.
"I must ask how you earned such a privlege! I doubt your position in the city earned it..." Kalenel continued slyly. He definetly would not mind having a friend in the Thane of Vortex!

“Amber Brightwing.” She grinned at his other question. “My position in the city certainly will have had something to do with it.” In this case she didn’t mean her position as Thane, but rather her position at the cult. Not that she’d clarify that to her companion. Best to keep her Necromantic ties hidden for the general public. “But the cost of it all will certainly have had something to do with it. I can probably come here for a month until I’ve cost them a single drink.”
She looked thoughtful for a moment, wondering if it was a proper question to ask. There was a good chance he was just some ordinary scum after all, but then would he be talking to her? She decided to go ahead with it anyway. “So what position do you hold in this city, above or below? Or is it not something you want to share?”

"Kalenel Vamai'tai," The rogue spoke with a hint of elegance, noting the large smile the Fae had given him. This would turn out to be a productive night without a doubt, Kalenel was sure of it.
Being a citizen of Vortex's surface for some 30 years now, Kalenel was knowledgable of how those around him thought. The instant the Thane answered his question, he knew there was something behind it. Not that it mattered much to Kalenel at the time, but he would indeed keep it in the back of his mind.
Finally taking a seat beside the Thane, Kalenel let out a strained smile before answering her question. "I find myself below at the moment, if I must call it that...I am however, looking for a median of some sorts." Kalenel ended his answer with a smile as he lifted his gaze from his hands upon the table.
Kalenel was loving every minute of the interaction he was having with the Thane of Vortex. How ironic that the leader of the city, and one of it's numerous rogues and scoundrels, would be having a casual conversation in a tavern on the Southern Quarter. He hid this feeling though, however he was sure Amber felt it as well.
"So what is on the City's agenda as of late?"

The Fae blinked and pondered for a moment before she understood his answer. When she did she let out a short laugh. “I actually meant above or below the surface, given your Vysstichi heritage.” She wondered if he had interpreted as a reference to his social or legal standing – though in this place that those were linked together in most occasions – but didn’t ask further.
“Nothing special on the agenda. The city seems to be going its at its regular pace again as of late. The Southern Quarter is more quite with the Blood Alley Gang gone and both Master mystics and Imperial army officers have refrained from annoying visits.” She didn’t see much irony in the meeting herself. She was the Thane for all citizens after all, so talking to someone else then those at the top wasn’t that weird in her eyes. “Unless you feel there are urgent matters that should be put on the agenda?” She didn’t really expect him to give a concrete answer, but she was curious how the people in her city thought about things.

"Then in that case, above for the most part."
Kalenel felt no embarrasment as he noted his fault, seeing it as humerous just as the Thane. As the conversation wore on, Kalenel became more settled and comfortable. The rogue wondered about seeing the Fae one day as a friend, and not as the Thane.
"Ah, I have nothing urgent," Kalenel answered with a heart warming smile. Indeed, he was happy with how the city was at the moment. With the Blood Alley Gang gone, that just meant less toes for Kalenel to step on.
"I must say, it is nice to see that the Thane has a social life." Kalenel said, leaning back in his chair and showing his growing comfort. "Any job openings for one of my kind?" Kalenel said with a short laugh. Although he said it in a joking way, he was amused by the possibility.

His answer had been she had thought. After all, how much inhabitants of the Southern Quarter kept themselves busy with how the city was run, beyond when and where the guards were patrolling perhaps. “Urgent or not, if you have problems or suggestion I’m always available to listen.”
‘Social life’ was perhaps a slight exaggeration perhaps. The Fae didn’t have that many acquaintances, though the few people she was on good terms with could count in this city. She tended to avoid people when moving through the city too, though that was mostly for personal safety reasons. Aside from that she didn’t shy away from people trying to speak to her.
“Job openings? That would depend on what you’re interested in.” Even though it had been said jokingly she’d give him a serious answer anyway. “Your kind has always been represented on Vortex’s payroll, so no problems there.” And by that she meant both Vysstichi and criminal. The current prefect was a Dark Elf and she had hired Dimitri knowing that he would not be an example when it came to obeying the law. “For most positions you’d have to speak to other people though. The Captain of the Guard deals with the guards and the militia, the Aedile with his departments, and so on. I’m dealing more with the coordination of how all those things are run, so if you’re interested in that you’d have to talk to me.”
