[Scattered ashes Arcane Warehouse] Window shopping, or maybe more!
Early Pontius, Winter, Era I, PF XV
Upon entering, one would come in touch with the cold bare floor and the still air that lied within. Shelves at both sides held creepy looking ingredients and tools, mostly for show, as the real stuff was stored cautiously in the back, and some even secretively below, on the basement. The naked walls and the thin beams of sunlight struggling to get past the windows gave the place an eerie feeling, and the dark cloaked figure sitting atop white dusty cushions even more. The figure sat, one leg crossed in front of him, and the other bent over the first, while his hands met beneath floppy sleeves. His hooded face looked almost hollow, the shallow light only meeting it partially, shade and shape undistinguishable, though human, or elf, for the looks of it.
Without a move from his place of rest, the new shopkeep received his visitors, his timber cold and icy, like the frightening sound that came within places where sound hadn't been present for ages.
"I am Aeron Morthen. Name your request and it will be granted... for a price..."
Lyssoryl stared about her, wide eyed. The place was clearly rife with magic and she felt a little intimidated. When the man spoke to her, she jumped slightly.
"I have a number of items I'm interested in and relatively little money, so I do hope I am not wasting your time. Still, you do not appear to be busy, so I shall risk a bit of rudeness."
"Firstly, I would be interested in a drum that plays itself to accompany you when you do other things (sing, play other instruments, and so forth). It need not have any fancy skill, perhaps just maintaining a beat that you give it for starters)."
"Secondly, I should enjoy owning a talisman that allowed me to jump from a great height and flutter down like a feather, rather than plummeting to my doom."
"Lastly, a magic comb that could make my hair behave would be just the sort of thing I would find handy. Perhaps something so that when I combed it into a shape it would stay that way, until combed out with a normal comb or something."
"I'm not especially greedy and am not trying to own everything on my list, I just wanted to give a variety so as to increase your chances of having something I wanted. I don't expect to be able to afford all of these items, if you even have any of them. I was mostly interested in whichever of these would be the least expensive."

Aeron stood there for a moment, and then looked down. Upon seeing the cether, he smirked, and then wondered what exactly her game was. Why was she looking for these particular items. Perhaps it would be good to give her a quest to be able to obtain each of these items. "A drum that plays by itself eh? a talisman? and a magic comb?" he asked, rhetorically.
"We have none of these, but perhaps if you get me certain items, i'll be able to craft them for you... and have them enchanted to whatever specifications you like. Let us start off with the drum... or actually, some useful information. The talisman i won't be able to do as they are extremely rare, and usually hidden in the utmost dangerous places. The comb will be the easiest. All you must do is bring me a comb, if you can find one, and i'll find someone to enchant it for free for you... As for your drum, you'll need to bring me a foxes fur that has been soaked in the enchanted waters of a temple of carmelya. I'll also need a Treant's branch, you can get one of those from the Forest of Light. They break off every so often, or you could fight a Treant to obtain one. That is, if you want the drum to be made..." he said. It would be obvious that the easiest item to obtain would be the comb, next being the drum, and finally the talisman, but his warning of the talisman was great, and it would be extremely dangerous, or lifethreatening to obtain one...

Lyssoryl found the news encouraging rather than otherwise. "I had only expected to be able to obtain one of my three requests, if even that many. But if you could have a comb enchanted free of charge I would be very much obliged and will of course take you up on the deal. And I will seek out the ingredients you require in exchange for the drum, as I would feel greedy not giving anything in this deal. Can you advise me on how I might recognize the branch of a Treant as different than a run-of-the-mill branch? Or is this something I must work out on my own?"

The slender Aeron looked at her, and then smiled an insiduous smile. "That is something that you will have to figure out on your own..." he replied, knowing that finding the items by ones self will build character, as well as prove them worthy to have an item of arcanic caliber. "It would be wise to start off with the comb, so, once you've retrieved a comb, bring it back to me, and i shall have it enchanted for you..." he finished. It was always a mystery how Aeron was able to do so many enchantments. Perhaps one day someone might discover the truth behind the store. For now though, he let Lyssoryl do what she must do to retrieve the comb, as well as the other items for the drum...

"Thank you ever so much!" Lyssoryl exclaimed. "I will be right back."
Lyssoryl dashed out of the shop with more speed than was strictly speaking dignified. Where should she get a comb? Ludwigs? The Essentials Shoppe? She decided to try Ludwigs first, as she had not been there in some time.
By the time she arrived at Ludwigs, she was somewhat out of breath, and took a moment to rest before she went in.
"Serale!" she said cheerfully. "I am in need of a good comb. I would like something sturdy and reasonably attractive, and am willing to pay a good price for it."

"A good comb you say?" asked the attendant. Heading into the back for a moment, and then bringing forth a tray, Lyssoryl could see an assortment of combs within it. All different colors, shapes, and sizes. It would be up to her to pick out one that she felt might be suitable for the enchantment.

Lyssoryl sorted through the tray, considering her options. After pawing through the tray for a time, she decided on a comb made of boxwood. It was a simple design, with finger grooves in the handle being the only real embellishment. It seemed quite sturdy to Lyssoryl, and the wood held a good glossy finish.
"How much for this one?" she asked.

"For that comb, it will be 25 crowns, quite a simple design, but it's cost being so much is because of the sturdiness of the material made out of it..." he said smiling, and then awaiting the payment that should be given to him promptly...

Lyssoryl thought the price rather high, but for this pleased her rather than otherwise. It seemed to her that if a comb was to be enchanted it ought to be an especially nice one, and being expensive was a sign of niceness. She hefted the comb. The wood seemed quite nice and the finish well done.
"Alright," she said. "I believe I will take it." She carefully counted out 25 crowns.
She left the shop in high spirits, and wasted no time in returning to the Scattered Ashes.
"Serale!" she said happily. "I have brought a comb, I hope it will do. Now there's one thing I thought I would ask, where is the forest of Light exactly? Is it way across the empire or more or less nearby?"

"The forest of light happens to be all of the way across the empire my dear cether. It lies in the province of Llauryl, by the city of Mystique. It will be a long journey, but i am sure that you will be able to manage it if you truly desire it..." he said. With that, he took the comb, and then finished by saying, "I'll have the comb enchanted by the time you get back. Oh yes, but there is one more thing i just remembered that i'll need for the comb. A bit of raven's blood, no matter how you get it, it will be important for the enchantment..." It was obvious that for her reward, she would have to take a great many risks...

"I have been to Llauryl on several occasions, but never to Mystique. Still, I believe I shall find my way with out a great deal of difficulty. I should be able to handle Raven's blood without a great deal of strife. As to finding a treant branch, well, we shall see. Thank you very much!"
Lyssoryl left to go pack her bags. She had come to enjoy life on the road, especially now that she had Kamvia to ride. A deer under the influence of bardic magic made travel go very quickly indeed.
