To the East of the main hall was a large, winding staircase that made its way up to the second floor. At the top of the stairs was an ornate entrance made of carved mahogany with the sign "Facultie Scientia" displayed in calligraphic letters in the wood. It was well-polished and -maintained, and quite expensive. It looked impressive, though, and it certainly caused most of the prospective students to slow and take a look as they passed. Through the hall was a pentagonal marble room with an open passageway leading off from each side. The Faculty encompassed much of the second floor, even most of the roof for some classes, and each of the corridor led to a separate area in relation to the studies of science.
The walls were bare, stark white, save for an enormous oil painting above the main entrance of the current Headmaster, Fryth Lomstar. He was a man of indeterminable age - he was thin and almost gangling like a teenager, yet his black waxed goatee and silver hair added some eras to his figure. In this particular painting, he wore a stiff white overcoat, with the entrance arch prominantly displayed in the background. His eyes displayed almost no emotion whatsoever - while it was customary to try and be serious when posing for an expensive painting, Lomstar's face showed no signs of life whatsoever. He could only be considered "serious" as he looked neither content, angered or forlorn, nor any other emotion whatsoever. It was rather like looking at a mannikin.
In the center of the room was a five-sided information centre, its pointed dome apex easily fitting under the high roof. On each side was seated an officious-yet-friendly-looking attendant, helping passersby with inquiries. Each had a large open ledger under their desk, which they repeatedly referenced and wrote down in; as science was a perpetually-changing affair, no-one knew everything there was to know about it. Carved into the brass dome roof of the information desk were the words "Welcome to the Facultie Scientia!". Under these, hanging from each "window", was a sign that read:

The room itself was surprisingly empty with most of the people in the area either entering one of the multiple doors or crowding around the information desk. There were no chairs, benches or tables, or any other piece of furniture in the Facultie at all, so no-one was milling around on non-existant pieces. Footsteps and low voices seemed muted, as all sound was sucked up into the high roof. If any Facultie seemed unalive and "sterilised", it was this one.
A few papers littered the front counter in almost-organized piles, waiting for would-be students to fill out the application forms.
