[Okrunt]

Brightening 5, Kalendryas, Winter Era XV

It wasn't being in the city that overwhelmed Okrunt, it was rather being in the city that he could now call his home that had him feeling awkward about the whole situation. As his ten foot shadow lingered into the crowded entrance of the city Okrunt was somewhat eager to see how these new people, people he could now call his fellow citizens, would react to the sight of such a large being coming into town. Okrunt was use to only two reactions from large crowds such as these, they were either surprised or didn't really pay much attention. The surprised crowds always made up the smaller, more secluded cities, while the much larger in size capitals were obviously enough the crowds that had seen it all a hundred times before.

As Okrunt entered the crowd he was pleased to see that not many people were paying him much attention. He never did like people staring at his size or gawking at the power that he had within his body. While overall he was quite the people person, he liked to earn their respect and attention rather then commanding it from his mere presence.

As he meandered around further into the city it started to sink in on him, the fact that sleeping in a different location on a daily basis was no more - well, it fightened him. This was a change that he really didn't feel as though he was ready for, and as he stood there in the center of the crowded city, he couldn't help but feel as though he was the only one there.

'It will be okay, Okrunt always make friend, wherever Okrunt go. I make friend here too, just have to try hard" Grunted Okrunt as he plopped against a brick wall, still in attempts to convince himself that he had made the right decision with his settlement in Vers.

Moving through the city, with his dark cloak on, a mysterious man was on the prowl for something. A bounty. But in the mean time, whilst he was searching for bounties, he was also looking to recruit certain members of the community that might make good hunters, or bounty raiders. It was then that he looked up, and infront of him, was a large, person, standing almost four feet above him, and looking like he could take down a building if he wanted. A Giant? thought the man. Here in Vers? This could be interesting and fun.

Taking a step back to avoid being hit, he looked up towards the giant, and then said, "Hey there, up above me, giant!" As he called this out, he'd place himself infront of the giant so as hopefully to be seen, and not walked on. "What might your name be?" he then asked, and awaited a response from the giant...

It took a moment for Okrunt to hear the darkly dressed figures calling, however when he looked down and saw the man before him he was a bit taken back - in a good way of course. He was quite surprised that someone had decided to actually speak to him, after all he had only just arrived into the city as a complete vagabond.

"What might your name be?"

Ahh yes, the sound of opportunites, thought Okrunt to himself as he continued to gaze down upon the dark figure. "Me? Ooh, uhhh, Okrunt, Okrunt is my name. Yes, err, 's a pleasure!"

The giant was obviously quite pleased with the man's unusual interest in him. However, if it was one thing that Okrunt had learned in his many nomadic years it was not to trust anyone, no matter how friendly they seemed. Remembering this, Okrunt arched an eyebrow before staring deeply into the cloaked figures eyes.

"And uhh, your name?"

Okrunt folded his arms and leaned against the large building, awaiting a responce and feeling quite pleased with himself for not being to amicable towards the stranger.

The darkly cloaked man's eyes were as black as night when Okrunt looked into them, perhaps a sign of the type of person he was? no, just the way he was naturally produced from his mother's womb. Ever since he was little, he was made fun of and discriminated against for having no white in his eyes at all, and for them being all black. It was almost the curse that led him to bounty hunting, a work that allowed him to prove his worth, and goodwill to people.

"My name is not important at the moment, but what is important is who you are. An perhaps what you are doing in Vers so far?" he asked, curious as to the giant's legacy in the city, and perhaps what he planned to do in the future...

[Okrunt]

This question befuddled the giant, after all, what was he really doing in the city of Vers? Such a simple question, yet with such an intricate slew of answers to it. Okrunt really had no idea why he was here, he supposed that he would figure that out as he grew more familar with the city that he would now be residing in. Yet, how to answer this mysterious cloaked figure with the black coals for eyes - he blurted out the only answer that his simple mind could muster.

"Uhh, me be honest with you for moment, Okrunt have no idea why he is here, to live, maybe? To make friend? Okrunt know not. Aldough, Okrunt up for anything, why you ask me this? Do you have something for Okrunt to do?"

Okrunt would once again arch one of his eyebrows, very interested in this cloaked figure and what his purpose was for approaching him.

As the giant spoke, and the mysterious man listened, he thought for a moment. Looking up towards the giant man infront of him, he said, "I believe i might have something for you to do, if you are interested... i'm guessing since you just arrived in our city, you need some form of work to feed your... large body. Anyways, i have a job opportunity if you're interested... I am apart of a certain guild, that, well, hunts criminals, and doesn't have to obey rules of society to capture them... Would you be interested in it? It bodes well for work..."

[Okrunt]

Now this was interesting. Okrunt had never been violent on instinct, however, when the time was necessary he had no problems in shredding his attacker limb by limb. Yes, he was quite friendly upon first meeting the giant, yet upon hearing such a seemingly lucrative proposition he couldn't help but feel his curiosity being stirred within him. He needed work, that was for sure, while he had no problems with being a mere vendor-the simple man that he was, this job had sounded so much more rewarding.

"So, you telling Okrunt you want me to err, hunt criminal and not obey rules to do so? I tell you what, you seem like trustworthy guy, so Okrunt will agree to hunt these folk with you."

Okrunt then nodded his head and extended his hand to the mysterious man, waiting for a shake of approval.

Smiling, and almost skipping with glee, the black eyed man looked up towards Okrunt, and then exclaimed, [b]"Alrighty then, follow me, i'll take you to our guild house, the other place where we live, sleep, and do things of the sort. You can meet our other two members, a giant like yourself, name Krunt, and our guild master, a little cether, half your size.

The dark eyed man then lead Okrunt towards the guild house which turned out to be nothing more than a little shack. But upon knocking in the door, a slot in it opened, and a single eye peered outwards. "What do ye want?!?!?!" a voice queried as the eye looked around. "Blah, who is this with ye black eye?" he then asked seeing the giant with the black eyed man, whos apparent nickname was "Black Eye". "This is a new recruit, i figured being a giant, he'd add a good bit of power to our little guild..." said Black Eye. The giant, whom answered the door, opened it a little and then all of the way, and beckoned them with a single hand to enter. It would be a tight fit for Okrunt to get in, but after a few moments, he'd be able to. "Welcome, what might i call ye by lad?" he asked the giant, obviously being older than him, but of the same race...

Upon seeing another fellow giant Okrunt almost immediately felt a sense of relaxation sweep through his body. Okrunt always got along with nearly every good-natured person he had ever came across, and in the rare occasions that he would come across another giant, he would naturally feel comfortable and safe.

"Welcome, what might i call ye by lad?"

Spoke the giant, awaiting the response of an overjoyed Okrunt. While the so-called 'head quarters' of the guild seemed a bit on the shady side, he still couldn't help but feel as though this would be a good place to call his home - he was clearly feeling a whole lot less apprehensive about his decision to make residence in the city of Vers.

Okrunt would then look the giant in the eye, not having to look down on to which whom he was speaking was a nice change, before saying "Ooh, well, my fellow giant, Okrunt be me name, err 's a pleasure ta' meet ya!" Exclaimed Okrunt as he squeezed into the small shack.

"Nice to meet ye Okrunt, my name is Frunt, and i'm wondering if you have a place to stay? As this might be the guild house, it is generally to small for us giants to stay here... Perhaps you might try visiting the Aedile's office later to enquire about a better place to stay? Otherwise, Black eye here will bring up our boss..." he said, and then awaited a response from the fellow giant...

A place to stay was something that Okrunt definitely needed. While yes he was a bit dismayed to hear that he could not stay in the guild house with his new friends, he couldn't help but know that realistically it would be much to cramped for two giants to be staying - even just the presence of Frunt himself was occupying the vast majority of the head quarters.

"Hmm, well, err, Okrunt find place to stay, yeah. No problem for me, I head to, uhh, this Aedile place you speak of, and I ask to find home there. No worry 'bout Okrunt though, friend, me find place to stay, always do."

While asking Black Eye to get the boss might have been a bit more helpful then straying away in an attempt to find a residence in the city of Vers, Okrunt did not want to trouble his new friends.

"Well, hmm, Okrunt should find place to stay now? Or do we have matters to discuss? Okrunt gladly stay if you need help with err, things, but if not, suppose I should find me a place to stay?"

[Fish Stick]

"We have matters to discuss," came a voice from below. The sound was low, and a bit squeaky, but when the giant saw who came out of the hole in the ground, it was obvious why the voice was so low pitched and squeaky. The little man was indeed a cether, standing at only about three and a half feet, the man looked up towards the giant. "First we shall discuss matters of our guild, and why you would like to join it..." he asked. Black Eye stood there for a moment next to the cether, then moved away to take a seat, while Okrunt was left there to answer the question...

[Okrunt]

Why? Yes, this was a most appropriate question to ask. Perhaps it was a question that should have been asked in the first place - as Okrunt really had no idea why he wanted to join the guild. Puzzled, Okrunt blurted out the first thing that could come to mind.

"Err, well, Okrunt not really sure why. Okrunt meet this man" Okrunt pointed at Black Eye "When me first get into Vers, he tell me to follow him and he take me somewhere. I go, and meet Frunt, too. To say why I want to join, well, Okrunt know not. Although, Okrunt promise to be loyal to guild, and keep all guilds secrets right in here." Okrunt pointed to his head and smiled.

The cether smiled, and then looked up towards the huge giant. "Very well, that is good enough for me... since you are a beginner, perhaps a bit of training might do, as well as an easy mark that we have. I'll have Black Eye go with you to help you out... do you have any interest in learning how to use a weapon?" he asked, and then awaited a response from the large giant...
