Riley's Elixirs and Alchemical Sundries (Vers)
Built of stone and located towards the outskirts of town, probably with the intent of secluding the structure in the all too likely event of an explosion and/or fire, the squat, drab gray, little structure would probably look quite inconspicuous if it wasn't for the multi-colored smoke that was prone to waft from various parts of the building at all hours of the day.
For those who choose to push past the 'BEWARE FLYING CRUCIBLES’ sign nailed to the door, the large, round interior that met immediately with guests is filled with all manner of flasks filled with varied and wondrously colored liquids. Each is carefully labeled and priced, some bubbling, some changing color, and some vibrating to such a degree that they are kept in small cages.
In other parts of the store are less interesting items, bland looking jars and containers with a sign at the fore stating 'STOCK REAGENTS'. Beside this is an array of glass vessels, tubing, cauldrons and odd looking implements. The sign at this table purports them to be 'EQUIPMENT'
Completing the circuit of the room is the service counter in front of the door to the back rooms, manned by a rather glum looking youth with a chalkboard in hand and a nasty scar running down across his throat and disappearing under his shirt collar. Upon your approach, he plucks a nub of chalk from the counter to scribe something, flipping the board over for you to see.
"Serale. May I take your order?"

Mid Junctior, Autumn, Era II, PF XIV
Xyltha was midway through a scavenging hunt for left over grubs and meals in the colourful vibrane Versian streets, as one was wont to do with a scarce income. An odd tidbit here, and a scramble for a pitiful morsel there - it was all truly a dreadful sight to see a downtrodden elf in his prime having to scrounge about like a life-sized rat, with elegant petite features no less.
Thus, it was with such distress that the aforementioned young elf - a baby in elf terms really - had wandered in his state of hunger and half-delirium to the outskirts of the city, in search of wild berries and who knows what other tubers still squirming out of the ground. Whereupon he spied this most curious looking building, with its peculiar plumage of smoke arising from all its apertures. Reading the sign posted outside the door, he wondered what a crucible was. He envisaged flying cookies whizzing at sonic speed around, seeking to home into some innocent passerby's open mouth. He was salivating.
Pushing open the door, he took stock at the scene in front of him. His eyes were assaulted with the sights and smells of all things wondrous, and foul, at once. He gagged. Spying an ugly-looking human youth at the counter, he ventured forwards, looking furtively around for the faintest signs of whizzing cookies.
"Serale. I am Xyltha, a young elf new to your fair city of Vers. What kind of shop is this? What kind of exotic potions and unguents do you sell here?"

The youth replied, "This is Riley's Elixers and Alchemical Sundries. We have most anything here. Many items are rare, yet not of much use to the unitiated who lack the knowledge of the craft. What is exotic and what is common depends on the intent of the customer and his ability to use what is before him.
"What is it that you seek?"

Xyltha had the grace to look somewhat embarrassed, as he sheepishly asked the youth.
"Well, I have no head for elixirs and the like. I was wandering about the woods and stumbled across the odd - err... I mean the fascinating array of coloured smoke coming from inside. It's been a long walk, I don't suppose you had had anything for a hungry young elf to eat?"
As Xyltha cocked his head at the youth, and throwing sidelong glances at the multicoloured display of elixirs on show, he wondered idly if there was any opening of a job at this establishment. It paid to always be on look out, especially when one was becoming strapped for cash.
"Say, is there any employment opening here at the moment? Perhaps any menial tasks you have need of help with? I'm looking for a job at the moment."

"Well, there could be employment if you knew anything about elixers or alchemy... do you know anything about it?" the youth asked him, in response to his questions. If he did, they could hire him, but if he didn't, they might only be able to take him in as an apprentice to the craft of alchemy. It was up to him to decide or not whether he wanted to acknowledge the fact he knew nothing, and perhaps take up their craft, or to just look around some more...

OoC: Decided not to pursue this any further. Thanks.
Xyltha frowned. He didn't know anything about elixirs or alchemy, unfortunately. Taking the response as an omen of future rejection of any employment opportunities at this venue, he sighed and took his leave.
