Furries and Feathers Pet Shop (Vers)

Furries and Featheries was in Vers' prominent business district, where little pricey shops were together snug on cobblestone streets. This shop looked like so very many around here, with its off-white large stones making the walls, almost giving the impression that the door and the twin glassless windows were set into a stone wall, partitioned only by a slight difference in how the stones were painted. Yes, this was Vers, and even building stones were painted. There was a hanging sign above the door, with a little songbird painted upon it, to identify the building.

The door was actually surprisingly heavy, so that no little animals could push it open and escape should they leave their cages. Inside, it was dim and cool, with only little bits of light coming through the windows. To both the left and the right, there were animals in little wooden cages. The mammals on the left were mostly of the domesticated sort: there were kittens and cats and puppies and dogs of most sorts, along with the occasional group of mice or ferrets. On the right were little birds, birds of all colors and sizes, with garish feathers and merry songs that they trilled and warbled as they hopped about their cages, while the baby kittens would paw curiously at the little feathered things.

There was a desk in the back of the room, and behind that there were shelves filled with ill or pregnant animals, or the occasional special case. A dumpling halfling woman was standing near the desk, with all her attention turned toward a wounded creature that was blankly floundering on the surface. Her face was covered with wrinkles of the old age and strand of grey hair was gathered into a knot on the back of her head. As soon as the visitor was able to make enough noise to attract her attention she was saying briefly: "You can tell me of your needs while I'm finishing up with this pretty one."
