The Vaettin Gardens
On the edge of the part of Vers that was filled with estates, there were two buildings, one of marble and one of onyx. The two were connected below ground, but above, what connected them was a gray walkway that pillars supported.
Between the Aedile's Office and the Prefect's Office (for, indeed, that were what these buildings were), there was a small but lush garden. The thick green grass was like a carpet, dotted with snapdragons and violets and columbine. There were willows with with drooping branches bordering a fountain beneath the walkway; the fountain was a fine fat fish spewing water from its mouth. Hanging plants in pots were suspended off the edges of the bridge.
There were no signs or plaques, but Versians knew that these were the Vaettin gardens. It did not belong to these political celebrities, these mages who guided Vers with their potent minds, but since it rested between two of their buildings, it had come to bear this name. This was where lovers came for trysts by the moons' lights; this was where minstrels and mages alike would come to practice, near these powerful Arcanists. This was a place of peace, togetherness, and cheer.
