OOC: Updates in red

IC: The farm overall was in pretty good shape since Leon came in control of it. The barn was Red and in need of a new coat and the left door was almost off the hinges. The barn was also in need of a a few new roof repairs. The house was in need of a roof repair and a new window. The outhouse was in pretty good shape besides needing to be cleaned out. The other minor buildings were in good shape besides the shed which needed a new door. Inside the barn was a chicken coup and stalls for animals. The fences had been repaired and a new one had been added next to the barn.

The house was Brown and in need of a new coat of paint so does the barn. The outhouse and the shed were a light yellow color. The fences are Grey and needed a few boards. The house was cleaned out and now always and a light yellow glow coming from either the kitchen or the fireplace. The barn housed more than a few bats and mice.

Once Leon found the farm he looked it over. Once he finished with his inspection he walked into the house and checked it out. The House was moderately furnished the furniture was in pretty good shape. He walked upstairs and checked the rooms. There were three rooms upstairs and one downstairs. The master bedroom had a desk,a bed,and a wash basin. The other rooms have a bed and a wash basin. The other rooms are a study,a kitchen,and a dining room. Leon then walked to the front porch and sat on the porch waiting his new farm animals.

A wagon pulled up to the house with some Hens and Roosters. Leon stood up and said "Follow me with the wagon." The guy nodded and followed Leon with the wagon. Once they reached the barn Leon open the doors and said "Bring in the animals and put them in the coup." Leon grabbed a cage and put the chicken in the coup. He set the cage down and walked back to the wagon to grab another one. He picked up a Rooster cage and set it in the coup. Once everything was squared he waved bye and walked back into the house.

Leon walked his room and sat a bottle of Wine on his desk and sat down. He uncorked the bottle and took a drink. He sat down the bottle and stood up and walked downstairs. He walked out of the house and locked the door. He then headed to town.

20 of Winter of Era II

Leon came back from town one day and saw three people on door step. he walked up to each of the and said "Who are you what are you doing here."

A young blond stood up and said "My name is Aston Gerald. I'm 24 eras old." Aston sat down and waited for someone else to stand up.

Leon nodded and said "Hi Aston."

An older brunette stood up and said "I'm Anne (Momma) Mcfee. You may call me Momma." She then sat back down and waited for the other guy to stand up.

Leon nodded and said "Welcome Momma."

Another blonde stood up and said "My name is Annabel Dereker. I'm a chicken farmer and I'm 23 eras old." She then sat down and to be let in.

Leon looked at them and said "I guess Cornblister sent you."

They nodded.

Leon nodded and said "Momma what do you do and Aston what do you do." He looked at both of them waiting to receive an answer.

Momma stood up and said "I'm a cook." She then walked up the steps to the door and waited to be let in.

Aston stood up and said "I'm a plower/chicken farmer." He stood up and walked to the door beside Momma.

Anabel stood up walked over next to Momma and waited to be let in.

Leon nodded and opened the door. He said "Follow me to your rooms and where is your stuff?"

They all looked at him and said "We have no stuff."

Leon nodded and said "Ok." As they reached the top of the steps he pointed to three rooms connected. He pointed to the rooms and said "Your room Aston is the room all the way down there. Anabel your room is beside his. Momma your ro."

Just as he was about to say something she said "I was wondering if I could have a room close to the kitchen?"

Leon nodded and said "Your room is down the stairs to the right."

Momma nodded and said "Thank you."

Leon remembered something and said "My name is Leon Kraus and you may call me Leon. My room is down the hall to the right. The master bedroom. Momma what time is breakfast."

Momma shrugged and said "I will wake you up."

They all nodded and went into their rooms. Leon was the first to come out. He said "I will be back with some food."

50th Kalendryas Era XIV

The Moonstar ranch indeed needed a bit of work to get it back on its feet but Cornblister the land agent was pleased that the young farmer had taken his advice and started out with a few chickens that appeared to have settled down and were happily doing chickenly things in the yard and fields. Cornblister had promised that when Leon Kraus had settled in he would pop in for a visit and see if they could sort out the financial aspect of the farm.

Leon opened the door and said "Ah sir Cornblister it is you. Would you like something to eat Mister Cornblister?" Roland then waved his hand in towards the house. The inside looked better than before. He walked over to the table and said "Make yourself at home please."

The Second Era of the Regency of Milo L'Evienne.

Where the inner strength to travel as far as she did came from, Adelyn was unsure. As tired as she felt, she would rest more at ease once she found the Moonstar Ranch. A surprise visit to Leon seemed warranted as he was always far away and busy with chickens and such. Adelyn had never been to a full-working ranch and she'd be just as surprised as Leon when she arrived. Leon had, after all, invited the Moonstars to the ranch, and she felt confident Leon would welcome her just as easily as if she were a Moonstar.

The entrance from the north gate of Tearfall had been lengthy due to the herds of sheep and cows lined up to enter. Showing her visa was a breeze, and she was slightly irritated at how long everything was taking. Perhaps this was the country life - slow and patient. Adelyn could never live in a country because excitement and life intrigued her far more.

Based on the description of the ranch that Leon had mentioned, Adelyn staggered towards a brown house with a battered red barn next to it. With full intent to collapse inside the house, she walked towards it as fast as her feet could manage. That inner strength she'd been thinking about earlier was nearly depleted, and she was thirsty, no she was both hungry and thirsty. The dust flying in the wind stuck to her face making her feel sticky and sick. Her usually gorgeous auburn hair hung limp from her head onto her face. She laughed aloud a bit wondering if she was even recognizable, but it didn't really matter. Family was family, after all.

ooc: Welcome. This is during Adelyn's visit.

ic: As he started walking out he saw a woman with once beautiful auburn hair that now hung limp on her face. He bowed and said "It is I honorable Leon Kraus the farmer of House Moonstar and you are Adelyn Weiss one of the jewels of House Moonstar. Do you want some water or some wine cousin?" He opened the door and waved her inside. If she went in there would be an elderly woman in the kitchen washing some plates. A few minutes two people would come into the house and go towards the washroom.

Cornblister declined the offer of a meal and sat himself at the table and laid parchment pen and ink on it.

”You are kind Leon but I have eaten today I came to see how you doing and to prepare a projection of profits for the farm. Now it’s good to see you have chickens in the yard, how many did you purchase by the way?”

“Let me see chickens retail at between 15 to 25 crowns and of course you have purchased a rooster.[10-20 crowns] Now on average chickens lay four eggs once every two days thus on average you can expect 20 eggs per chicken per cycle.. Now eggs retail at 30 silvers a dozen so with those figures in mind lets see what sort of profit you make over an era.”

ic: Leon nodded and said "I have 3 hens and 2 Roosters. 300 eggs a month which means 6000 an era I think. Lets walk and talk because I need to finish feeding my chickens." Leon then started walking towards the barn slowly so he could talk to Cornblister. Once they got half way he would say "What should I bring on my farm next my faithful advisor." What he just said was a joke meant to laugh at.

The dwarf chuckled at Leon’s arithmetic and then pulled a scrap of paper from his pocket and rapidly began scribing numbers

3000 eggs sold in 12‘s = 3000 ÷12 = 250 purchases x 30silver's= 7500 silvers per era

Now my friend, you are going to have to sell your eggs and the best place to that is the market inProsperity Square, now you can rent a stall for 10 golds per market or pay 200 golds per era for a permanent pitch.

My advice is to get some more hens, three is not enough to make a decent profit , once you have a regular income that covers the expenses of the wages of your farm workers , stall rent and your own living expenses you can start thinking about putting new livestock on the farm. I would be inclined to think about pigs next, they are easy to rear, eat virtually anything so there is no waste and well I like pigs , friendly sort of animals and he chuckled “Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals”

Cornsplitter looked around the farm and nodded in appreciation look you got a lot to learn Leon but don’t despair, we all want you to succeed

Leon nodded and said "Ok I will get another 4 or 5 hens. I was wondering If I should put up some corn soon? From what I can tell it is the perfect condition for some." Once they got to the door he would open the non-broken one and said "Here little chickies time to eat." He then spread a line a chicken feed through the barn. He looked at the barn door and said "Were can I get that fixed at Desperate?"

Desperate Cornblister nodded as Leon realised he needed some more hens and the followed the farmer as he started to feed the few he had already The barn door was indeed a bit of a mess hanging limply off one hinge and banging sadly. The question took him by surprise and he gave Leon a hard state.

Look lad you need to give this a bit of thought , a decent farmer does his own repairs , you got workers on the farm and it don’t take three of them to feed 5 chickens.

Cornblister stomped over to the door and gave it a good shake tsk tsking and then ducked into the barn

Leon come here the dwarf was standing over an open iron box stuck in the corner of the dark barn and Leon would see it was full of tools , hammers, screwdrivers and a saw , nails and screws, chisels and a wooden hand plane plus a large pot of bright red paint and a stiff old brush . All of them were old and sweat stained but with just a bit of sharpening from the oil stone they would be as good as new.

Cornblister stomped away and standing up in a dark corner of the barn was a ladder, tall enough to reach the roof of the barn. there you go lad everything you need to do yer own repairs , it don’t have to be pretty its just needs fixing up, get your shirt off and start work and you will save yourself at least the 200 crowns you would have to pay a workman

ic: Leon nodded and said "Ok." He giggled a bit as he saw the Dwarf look mad and stomping around. He grabbed the iron box and nodded. He looked at the tools and said "Didn't know these were here or that ladder either." Leon took the box out of the barn and set it beside the broken door. He then walked back inside the barn to get the ladder. Once he had it he drug it outside the barn and set it against the broken door. He set the box underneath the ladder and said "You still didn't answer my other question." Leon then lend against the barn and waited for the dwarf to come out.
