Joyau Gets Settled in Her Dormitory Room
The First of the Month of Kalendryasin the Season of Winter, Era I of the Celestine Mandate, Era XV Post Fractum
Joyau was exhausted by the time she got to her room. It was small, but the sprite didn't take up much room and she didn't have much gear. She set down her medical bag, given to her by Sage Kalista on her last day of healing class at the Panacea. She would miss the Panacea with its big beautiful buildings. She had been sent here to work as an intern at the De'Gaulle hospital. There was war in the air and because of this many healers would be needed throughout the Empire. So even novice healers were sent to the front lines to gain experience.
She had her healing and herbalism parchments with her, but she was too tired to look them over again. She had studied very hard at the Panacea, reading volumes of tomes assigned to her. She had also practiced on dummys, treating their wounds, but now she was going to have to do the real thing, work on real wounded and sick people.
She saw that her bed was already made up and there was a pitcher of water and bowl. She flew over to the pitcher and with both hands poured some water in the basin. She then took her clothes off and washed the travel grime off her body. After she dried off, she pulled back the covers and slipped into bed.
It was hard to go to sleep, however. The administrator had not been prepared for her, he was terribly grouchy and he didn't like a sprite coming to Taralon. She was afraid he would send her back. He didn't seem to think she could do anything. She rolled from one side to another finally sleeping on her stomach. Even her wings hurt from flying around the hospital following him. She was not used to flying so much. Finally she drifted off falling into a dreamless sleep.
