An Often Fatal Malady Manifests Itself In Taralon

During the Autumn Season there had been more deaths than usual for that season. There was no cause for alarm because the numbers were not great and it was attributed to accumulation of vapors as a gradual aftermath following the disappearance of one of Aelyria's Suns.

Now during the Winter Season it was apparent that there was some sort of a malady affecting many in Taralon. The number of citizens affected was gradually increasing. The symptoms were fatigue, malaise, fever, perspiration and sometimes convulsions. Most of those affected recovered in about one cycle but about 10% of those affected died within five brightenings.

It is noteworthy that only humans seem to be subject to this affliction. However, since 51% of Taralon's population are human this is a major concern. During the past Cycle approximately 400 deaths were attributed to this malady. All of the dead were humans. The dead included 70 members of the Provincial Army and 25 Imperial Legionnaires. It is rumored that over 1,000 members of the military are incapacitated by this dreadful illness.
