[Hospital] Blessing or curse? (Joyau, closed)
| Initiate Thaumaturgy for Joyau |
|
|
Timestamp: To be filled out by Joyau
Cobalt stood by his desk over looking the books he had gotten over the years, he stood about 5'9, his stomach showing from the years of being in one place, grey hair slowly showing mixed with his black, his green eyes seeing almost everything there was about something.
He was waiting for there new student Joyau, she wanted to learn more ways to heal a person but would it kill or help her he asked himself. Arcana was not a toy to be played with and at times one could not depending on arcana as most could not be unbound for some reasons.
He was hard on her medic skills but with this he would be harder but was worried she would be pushed past her limits and break which would be bad due to he needed her, not her to say but just the body to help with the war.

Joyau's first day of Thaumaturgy
The 3rd brightening of the Month of Immanis, in the Season of Winter, Era I of the Celestine Mandate, Era XV Post Fractum.
Joyau walked with a little more confidence into the classroom of Master Cobalt. She had become more and more sure of her chosen path as she got practice as a medic. Now it was time for her to start her healing arcana and she was very excited.
Upon meeting meeting her instructor, she noticed he seemed preoccupied and wondered why. She introduced herself to him and then sat down. "Hello, my name is Joyau delaLune and I'm here to learn initiate Thaumaturgy.

He just looked at her as if she was a child, a low child who did something stupid. "Yes Joyau I do know who you are, you just came to me to become a medic. Now we are going to go over another way to heal but this way you must understand it wont be able to take over the other ideas of healing like your medic skills. Thaumaturgy is the arcana power to heal others and defend and fight. Most of the time only priests can learn this but this will be a special case. Now you must ask yourself and answer why you want to learn this as this will not be easy nor you might not be able to learn it. This will take most a good chunk of your life to understand and learn to a point you just wont be in the way."
After he said that long speech he took up a small glass of water before drinking it watching her. No this would not be easy it was never easy for anyone and what did not help is that she did not have time to learn the right way due to the war. She would take a crash course in this learning the fast way and not all by the book or even most people would agree with. Most thought his way of teaching was cruel and border line insane but in war with orcs you did not have time to learn the right way and that was just to slow.
No time is what they did not have.

Joyau gulped a little. This Master was scary, she thought, but outloud she summoned up her courage to answer him more confidently than she felt.
Master Cobalt, I am well aware that you think I am not ready for this, and maybe I will not be. But the point of me asking you for training is to see if I adapt to magic like most sprites. We sprites have a history of being very mystically inclined. I know I am young and inexperienced, but due to my size, I have the best shot at being useful by learning how to use Thaumaturgy arcana. I am well aware I will have to work hard, you don't need to scare me into studying and trying with all my might to be the best healer I can be. It will serve the empire if I do indeed learn quickly. After all I left the most prestigious university in Aelyria, the Panacea, to come here to learn more quickly in order to be of service more quickly. I hope that with my good intentions, hard work, and Diana's help I can learn whatever you throw at me.
Joyau gasped a little at what came out of her mouth. She had to believe what she said, or she could not survive the rigorous training. She hoped and prayed she was up to it but she determined she would not show uncertainty in front of this eccentric person.

He was breaking the rules just a bit, he knew this as he looked at her. But some rules had to be broke at times like this, If she wanted to live in combat she had to learn this sphere even at basic spells it was a good weapon and shield to the person.
With a snap of his fingers her eyes closed as she fell to the ground. She was under a deep sleep and when she woke they would see if she could use arcana but odds are she was able to just due to her race.
[ooc: Time for you to sleep and make a dream, it can be anything you like then afterwards wake up]

Joyau was walking through a forest. The trees were silver and sparkled like thousands of tiny diamonds. She had seen some lights like this but she couldn't remember where, or even when. She seemed to be floating, her wings weren't moving in flight, she was just floating. Ahead of her, shining throug the trees was a tiny blue light. She stopped. The blue light was coming toward her, and as it did it grew larger. On the outer edge of the blue circle were billowy clouds, like the entrance to a celestial realm. How did she know that, Joyau thought. The celestial realm had never been visited by a mortal. Well, that wasn't exactly true, was it? She realized she really didn't know. To her knowledge the celestial realm was reserved for dieties and certain fae entities who were very highly evolved.
Joyau realized she was holding her breath, she released air from her lungs suddenly. It seemed her breath was alive, forming a cloud obscuring the entrance to the celestial realm. She started tearing at the clouded breath, but it wouldn't move. She tried to move forward, but the breath stopped her. She started crying, screaming at the cloud, but no sound came out of her mouth. She was panicked, calling out to Diana to remove the cloud so she could see into the celestial realm of her goddess.
After a few minutes she begin to feel her actions and words becoming slower and slower like she was in slow motion, until she totally let go ... it wasn't a conscious letting go, but an intense spiritual awakening. She felt as if her soul was released from her body and she began to soar, straight up into the darkness above her, until the lights of the silver trees became fainter and fainter. She didn't want to stop. The soaring feeling took her into a state of being no longer earth bound. Yet she still could not see the entrance into the celestial realm. Somehow she didn't mind. Something had profoundly changed her, and though she didn't understand, with her intelligence this wonderful release, she was content .... slowly consciousness begin to stir Joyau to open her eyes. She didn't want to. She didn't want to see that the world had not changed. That she still was tied to the war torn firmament of Telath.
She knew she must awaken. She slowly opened her eyes, then realized she was on the floor of the classroom. She looked around until she saw the Master Thaum looking at her. Slowly she arose, grabbing onto a chair for support. She didn't even try to fly.
"Wha wha what, happened, she said. She felt wobbly and almost like she'd been drugged. The feeling of lightness was gone, but she was changed and she knew it. She would never be the same.

"Simple you are unbound, its time to stop being lazy and get to work. Now that you are unbound you will know a few spells I gave you first off what you need to do is to Meditate to enter Clara which is the state you can cast spells. This can take awhile for the first time from one one brightening to a few months but we don't have time for that now do we." He said as he snapped his fingers, the ground and walls of the room were pure white just for a fraction of a second but after wards the room it was filled with calmness and tranquility.
"This should make it a bit faster, now try to clear your head this should take anyway from 10 minutes to half a brightening." He said as he stood back waiting. He knew it would not be easy and it seemed to him the more a person had of the arcana power like a elf or fae the harder it was at first.

Joyau suddenly snapped to attention at Master Cobalt's admonishment. In an instant she understood what had happened to her. She had heard others describe the visions or dreams they had when they were unbound, but listening and experiencing it were two entirely different things. No one could describe the utter sense of freedom one experienced once they were free of magical restraints. Before she even had time to revel in the expierience the Master had moved on and was demanding her attention.
She tried to grasp what he meant by entering into Clara but panicked slightly wondering what in the world he meant. Then a feeling of calm suddenly swept over her. She began to concentrate on entering into the place where magic lived, in a state of Clara. She concentrated very hard willing herself into clara ....
Her wings fluttered slightly as she concentrated. How would she know if she was ready ...

"Once you enter Clara you will then use the ability Focus, it is something that makes you a mage now, Time will stand still as you do it but you wont be able to tell as it will move way to fast. You will draw upon the energies of the essence then pull on the outer forces into your soul where the energy will manifest as Mana, the currency of all spells. With this mana you then will shape it in a spell. Every spell requires the same process, Meditating, focusing and channeling followed by a proper shaping. As I have imparted which is another word for taught you some spells you will just call up the mental recall of the pattern then it will form the weave casting the spell. I know you don't know most of what I just said but you don't really need to right now all you need to know is this. Mediate then once you reach clara just think of the spell in this case lets go with Holy Armor on yourself." He said which was alot but he knew she would not need it said again even if she asked he would tell her all later.
Now he just waited, soon she would cast her first spell and understand more or less what he just said which was more word from word from a book then real life.
Holy Armor
(Thaumaturgy, Initiate)
A light aura of glowing light forms a swirling vortex around the target, providing a shielding ability that absorbs several light physical blows before dissipating. |

Joyau tries her first spell
Joyau did not know for sure what Clara was, she listened carefully to the Master as he tried to explain how arcana would flow through her of she meditated, focused, and how she must channel that force and shape it into the spell 'holy armour"
Joyau closed her eyes to meditate and slip into Clara
and when she felt the force flowing through it, opened her eyes and visualized the arcana flowing through her and becoming pliable. In just a few minutes she felt she knew what was happening, but wasn't sure.
She focused on the invisible arcana and imagined it flowing around her, like a cloak covering every part of her body ... she was getting so tired she didn't think she could do it another second ....

IT was not the best of spells but in the end it worked and would do its job which was to form a light color aura around her and act as a small shield to stop light blows from an attack and only staying for a short amount of time slowly the time span would be bigger when she got better as a mage.
"good now lets move on, this spell will stop light blows from an attack and then leave, give or take you will have a good 30 seconds and it will slowly get better as you learn more and become stronger as a mage. Now lets move on to nimbility. Cast it on yourself it will help you move faster and better with reflexs for a short amount of time."
Nimbility
(Thaumaturgy, Initiate)
The Thaumaturgist can imbue into the opponent the essence of added reflex, providing for a brief period increased mobility and dexterity. The effect is temporary, and increases with experience. |

Joyau tries her second spell
Joyau was surprised when Master Cobalt said her spell worked. Imagine that! She was so intimidated by the mage that she had not even opened her eyes at first and then she was so busy concentrating she didn't even enjoy creating the spell. She was so unsure of herself. Even the fact that she had survived a ratta rebellion didn't bring her comfort. Okay, doing something was one thing. Knowing that she knew she could do it every time made her hesitate at first. She looked inside herself and tried to bring forth the courage she needed, or maybe the confidence she longed for. Right now she felt incapable of enjoying her lessons. How could she when the Master was certain she would be terrible at Thaumaturgy. Joyau, she said to herself, are you going to let this person tell you what you can and cannot do.
Her mind was made up. She was going to enjoy herself. She would relax and take comfort in the fact that if she had done a spell without knowing what she was doing' actually taking the time to enjoy casting a spell might give her more confidence. She decided she would relax and just let herself enjoy the next spell as she cast it.
She took her time entering into Clara and as she meditated with her eyes opened, she saw a blue light coming towards her. It reminded her of her dream during her unbinding. This time she saw the light as a tangible object to manipulate into mana. As she concentrated on the blue light it became more brilliant, like a blue sapphire. In her mind she focused on the center of the sapphire and began manipulating it. First it appeared to her as a large circular ball. Clouds appeared around the edge. She began to feel the impact of the clouds. Though they appeared to be soft and billowy, Joyau realized that the clouds were the representation of the tangible mana. She concentrated on the spell nimbility.
As she concentrated on the clouds they moved forward until like a wisp of smoke entered her body. Joyau began flying around in the small room. She began to do complicated manuvers, like acrobatics in the air. Then she landed and began doing somersaults. She felt light and airy, about 1/2 as heavy as she normally was. She squealed with delight, until the feeling left and she came to a landing with a thud.
She finally understood her dream and the signals it imparted to her. The blue light was Clara, and the clouds were the creation of her mana. No longer was she scared of magic. It was the most wonderful feeling in the world to have control over something that was unavailable to those who were still bound.
Master Cobalt, Joyau shouted, I can see my clara and mana! I understand now!

"Next and your last spell until tomorrow you will cast a spell that can cause damage to people or things. It's caleld Sacred Strike, you know how to move faster and form a shield now its time to learn how to fight back. Focus your attack towards me and don't worry it will just form light damage to a living person if they were dead then it would hurt them a lot more." He said as he waited for her to cast her last spell.
Sacred Strike
(Thaumaturgy, Initiate)
By summoning forth righteous power, the Thaumaturgist can send a direct attack of holy energy that will deliver light damage to an opponent. If the opponent is an undead creature, the inflicted damage will be moderate. |

Well, Joyau thought, I finally do a good spell and he could care less. She was a little offended, after all she knew he would tell her if she was not good, but apparently, praise wasn't in his vocabulary. Still she was so happy she had managed to gain some insight into how she cast spells, she was eager to try again.
She took a little time to shake off her disappointment, cleared her mind of everything except entering into clara again. Within a few moments she felt herself relax a little. She took deep breaths and waited for the blue glow to appear. Before her she saw a small blue light, which she began to manipulate with her mind. The light began to shine brighter as she manipulated it into a small ball of light. The billowy light clouds formed on the edge as before. Joyau put out her hand and tried to mold the mana into a small ball to fit her hand. When the ball was finally the size she thought she could control, she willed it to move toward the Master, She concentrated on the spell. Sacred strike her mind seemed to scream. If the spell was done correctly she should have sent the energy ball hurling toward the Master to stike him.

The spell was just an inch from him before the spell just broke apart sending flashes of light around him as he smiled. "Good job, you did the spell right normally it would hit a person but I dispelled it which you will learn after you rest as you can only cast three spells a day or you might kill yourself." He said as he bowed his head.
~Next day~
He would be standing there waiting for her to come, he would go in the steps but with him he held a fae size book, it was Treatise on Arcana . He would give her the book and wait as she read a few pages from it.
"Now that you are done reading, re enter clara state-" He said as the door opened as a young female student came in, she was another Initiate like Joyau as she bowed her head.
"This is Aza, she will be your target for now, you will cast a light dart on her all right."
Aza was a young human, long black hair that was tied in a ponytail, a few scars along her tan face and plain white robes.
