Happy Valley Mortuary [Location]
The Funeral Home was a moderate sized building just across the road from the cemetery. The structure was of drab gray stone. The wooden window frames were weathered to a dull gray, they were not painted. There were no plants or grass near the building. The yard was as dreary in appearance as was the building. A sign in front announced:
HAPPY VALLEY MORTUARY
proprietors: Dirge Brothers
service to satisfy the most discriminating client
The Dirge brothers are twins. They are Elves, rather gaunt Elves. With long silver hair, ashen skin, sunken eyes and almost hollow cheeks their overall appearance was almost cadaverous. Were they lying down, the Elves would appear to have been dead.
A Client would be greeted by one of the brothers or an assistant.

The Elf waved Pietroff into the building. It was a dismal looking place, about as dreary as the outside. Once they were inside, the waiting room floor was gray stone and the walls were unfinished cracked wood. the Elf pointed to a door and said, "That is the storeroom. Go in there and make the two coffins as I described them to you."
When Pietroff entered the storeroom he found a large work bench and an ample supply of boards. There was cheap pine, beautifull coarse grained oak and fine grained walnut. There were thin sheets of aromatic cedar and a roll of fine white silk.
The Elf left, shutting the door behind him. leaving Pietroff on his own.

This is a store room?
Pietroff stood silently after he walk-in into the Mortuary storeroom,
"This is where I suppose to take a shelter at night, he got to be kidding ?"
"Where is the empty coffins that the elf master mentioned before ?"
"I don't see any damned empty coffins in this eerie place, hmmm....this room need several small modification if I want to live in here comfortly !"
"But before that, I must make two coffins as master elf ordered, better be going and prepare myself before he catch me unready !"
After take a several minutes thinking about his need, finally, Pietroff began to unpack his carpenter tool from his carpenter pack and put it in on the workbench.
A good quality iron hammer, a medium size wooden saw, a medium pack of nail in different sizes, a graphite pencil, a wooden ruler and the other tools.
First, Pietroff examine the quality of the pine, the oak and the walnut.......

The quality of the pine left much to be desired. It was a cheap grade of wood one would expect to be used for making shipping crates or to construct crude shacks. Some of the roughly cut boards were considerably warped.
The oak was better hewn. The boards were smoother and obviously well seasoned. With a bit of effort, a craftsman could make a good looking article from this wood.
The walnut boards were a pleasure to look at. The fine grain was accentuated by attractive knots and burls. This was obviously a top grade of lumber.

Pietroff First Coffin Project
After checking the quality of each wood and then take a small deep thinking, finally Pietroff choose the pine wood to be his first coffin project material.
First, Pietroff take several pine planks at the workbench, and then with his ruler and graphite pencil, Pietroff began to take a measure on the pines,
"Hmmm, I must take a measure for about the size of my height and wide if I want to have a place for sleep tonight !"
After Pietroff mark all the pine with his pencil, next, Pietroff grab his saw and start to saw off all the pines right on the mark.
"Hmm.....after this, I can smooth down the planks and start to build my coffin bed, yuhuuuu !"
OCC: Sorry for my very late reply, I am sick badly, sorry for this trouble.

Thus far Pietroff was doing well. The pine was probably the easiest wood to work. The measuring was done accurately and neatly. It was good he remembered that he was going to sleep in it. An average sized coffin would not have worked.
With the saw he made true cuts and before long the wood was ready to be sanded and then assembled as a coffin.
He would soon have a sample to show Master Dirge and a benin which to sleep.
