Resistance in the Wind

Timestamp: 21st of Imperos, in the Season of Autumn, Era II of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIV Post Fractum.

Nighttime fell upon the city, and darkness swept through the streets. A man walked along a sidewalk, in the city of gadgetry, and looked around slightly before moving forwards. He was dressed in a black cloak, covering most of his body, and his face was under the cover of a hood. Moving through the city at a more rapid pace, he went from side street to side street, until finally he came to a small entrance of the underground sewers. “Finally at my destination…” he said, and then reached his hand down to his belt to pull out a torch.

Lighting it, he entered into the sewers, and then looked around for a moment. The walls were as slimy as they normally were, the tunnels of the sewers having degraded quite a bit from their former selves due to the lack of maintenance. Making his way down through the sewers tunnels, he began to look around at all of the different routes he could take. As his brown boots allowed him to easily navigate the slick floor of the sewers, he finally came to an opening, much farther beneath the surface that allowed access into an extremely larger room. One you would not have expected to be this far underground.

Within it, all manner of ratta were meeting, having traveled there from Prime, and some having already been there. The colony was more of a gang stature, attempting to recruit any other ratta that might join their cause. As the man approached a small one, by the looks of it, one he knew, the little creature turned around, and looked up to him. ”Have the orcs made a move yet?” he asked, his red irises staring the dark man down. ”They have not yet done anything to my knowledge, so far as I know, they are just warming up…” the man replied.

”We shall await their signal before we wreak havoc upon this city of gnomes… this city that hates us so. I want you to go to the orcs, as our emissary, and attempt to inform them of our plans… Take our young Adept Mystic Nri with you, and make contact with them. He shall be able to help you get through the gates, without any difficulty…” said the yet unnamed Ratta. The man looked at him, and said, ”Why would I need a mystic? I could make contact with them myself, they would not dare harm a follower of Jorel…”

The ratta turned to him, and said, ”Just because you’re a necromancer, and a strict follower of Jorel, doesn’t mean that they will trust you. Now, having a ratta mystic with you, will allow you to gain easier access to their leader.” The man looked at him, a smirk crossing his semi-covered face. ”It shall be done Tro…” Turning away from the young ratta, he made his way over to another, whom was recognized as Nri, and said, ”Leader Tro says you’re to come with me… We are to make contact with the Orcs in Orckon.” Nri nodded, and then motioned for him to follow him.

The young ratta mystic was easily recognized by the slit across his throat, which was gained when he was being tortured by a random teenage group of gnomes. It had been bad enough that he was a ratta whom went to the surface in Taralon. It was even worse for him that he was a mystic, and had attempted to practice in an abandoned field which no one normally went to. The gnomes had ravaged the young soul, and in the end, slit his throat, missing his jugulars, and major arteries, so that he would not die, but taking out his vocal cords to mute him. Managing to cast invisibility at the very last minute, when the teenagers were deciding to kill him or not, he slipped away, massive amounts of pain in his body. His spell had worn off in the sewers, where he was found by Tro, rehabilitated, and allowed to join the ratta gang, or resistance as they called it. He would never again speak though, save into the minds of others.

The man followed Nri through several passages, before they came out of the sewers on the outside of the city gates, which they would head to Orckon and attempt to make contact with the orcs.

Meanwhile…

In another part of the sewers, a young group of boys climbed in to start exploring; the adventurous bunch took their torches, and began to head in. The entrance was within eyesight of anyone that might wish to join them in their little quest below the streets of Taralon…

OOC: All PCs are encouraged to join in this thread, whether they are new, or old. Posting will be every one to three days, depending on how quickly the PCs post. If I post before a PC gets a chance to reply, which will most likely be at the three day mark, they can catch up in the next post, No one will be left behind, in posting that is. Enjoy!

[Ralzari Malian]

Ral and 100 kaugzi followed the mysterious hooed figure which was still unnamed and his companion Nri out of there city, headed towards Taralon. How the would get inside was a mystery to Ral, until he saw the enterance to the sewers in front of them. The hooded man a Nri opened the sewer and lead the way down a long series of slim covered tunnels that smelled quite foul. Fortunately Ral was quite used to foul smells, so it did'nt bother him really, but he could here the other dace races behind him complaning about the smell inside the tunnels. No light was visible to Ral except the mans torch, Ral really hoped this man knew were he was going.

Finally there trip down the sewer tunnel led them to a large open room that Ral would'nt have expected to be under the sewers. Filled inside this room was all manners of ratta one could imagine. There must've been ratta from all across the empire inside these sewers. It looked like a pretty significant force, this raised Ral spirits greatly, for he did'nt want it to be a mere gang of the ratta, the 100 kaugzi and Ral himself to be the only troops that would be in the attack. Once everyone was inside the room, Ral and his troops awaited for the hooded man to lead him to the ratta in charge, so Ral could speak with him about there current situation.

Their trip did go without any hitches, and they managed to make it into the Ratta's secret base far under the grounds of Taralon. Upon entering, the dark man made his way, with Nri tailing him as well as Ralzari, to see Tro, the leader of the Ratta resistance named 'Resistance of the Wind'. Tro watched in seeming amusement as the one hundred soldiers piled into their little area. "Well, it seems that you have brought me more than I had hoped for," he said. "I am grateful... who is the orc that leads this convoy?" He knew full well that Orckon would not spare but one orc to help them, at least the spared a hundred other dark creatures. The mysterious man step to the side, and let a hand out towards Ralzari. The ratta made his way over to him, and then asked, "What are the orders your leader has given you?"

[Eyvind Redbeard]

A walk in the Darkening after a tiring journey followed by some trusted companions was all Eyvind had prayed for and to his fortune his wish had been granted. The group of Legionaries walked slowly while breathing the fresh air the Darkening brought them. The Vagaran had decided his men needed some rest too after Cycles of hard work in the Training Fields outside Taralon.

"You are correct, we should order the men to build a wooden wall around the Fields and the city, this way we would train them in building camps and protect the city at the same time."

Said the cold voice of Shield Daekin Coates, the older member of the group. His grey eyes shinying with the stars.

"Won't they get tired and lose motivation?"

Asked the young and gracious Eirik Elebsson, the Warriorpoet.

"Nay, they'll see it as a good omen, lad."

The stout Drok answered. A grunt from Dogg was heard in agreement to what the Dwarf had said.

"What do you say, Sir?"

"I agree with Coates and Drok, extra defenses won't hurt us and this way the men will learn something."

Suddenly the sound of boys laughing and the light of torches attracted the group's attention. They had came across a band of adventurous teenagers carrying torches and entering the sewers of the city.

"Where do you think you're going, lads?"

After following the dark hooded man for a short time, Ral was led to the leader of the "Resistance of the Wind". While the hooded man and the ratta spoke Ral looked around the room and noticed that with al of his troops being in the room it was getting quite cramped. After the hooded figure spoke to the ratta for a short time, Ral looked and noticed that the cloaked man had a hand pointing towards Ral. Then the ratta that was speaking with the man walked over to Ral and asked him what orders were given to him. This sturck Ral in surprise. Who was this man to be asking him what his orders were. It came as a surprise to Ral that this ratta just walked over and asked what his orders were without first informing Ral of who he was. "Who ju to be askin me bout my orders. Ju da leader of dis resistance?"

Eyvind

One of the last boys in, stopped, and turned to look towards Eyvind. "We are going exploring tonight, and we don't need any stink'in adults to accompiany us... We can take care of ourselves!" he said, fairly snobbishly. It was obvious he didn't really know who Eyvind was, or care for that matter. Turning tail, he ran into the sewers then before Eyvind had the chance to answer him, and followed his friends...

Ralzari

Tro looked towards the orc, and a smile crossed his furry face. "Yes I am, I happen to be the leader of the ratta resistance under Taralon... My name is Tro, now, will you tell me what your name is, and any specific orders you have been given?" he asked, and then awaited a reply from the orc...

After listening to the ratta's explaination Ral was ready to talk with the man. He just did'nt want to give any information out without knowing that he was giving it to the right person. "Well Tro, good ta meet ju, me Ralzari. But ju call me Ral." After the introduction Ral gave Tro the information that he wanted to know. "Da orders gave to Ral, by da bolg..er leader, was make sure dat my kaugzi do dere jobs and to return dem back to Orckon alive. So dats what need to happen." Ral paused and thought for a moment. "Why don ju tell Ral bout da Resistance and what ju plan on doing?"

Tro scanned the large orc up and down, him being much smaller than the orc was looking up at him for the most part. "Well, the first part of our plan, is to infiltrate a portion of Taralon. We are going to attempt to time it at the same time the Imperials attack Orckon. This way, we might give Orckon a surviving chance... from the information we've gathered, the Imperial's have a huge number of troops in their hand, and they'll stop at nothing to destroy orckon. Obviously, this will have some benefit to us as well, seeing as how no good deed goes unrewarded. Hopefully we'll be able to get to the center of the city, and take out the Taralon Government. This will give us a good chance to impliment our own government, and make Taralon the free city that it should be... I have close to 150 ratta crawling around in these sewers right now, and added to your 100 kaugzi, it should proved us with enough of a fighting force to make it to the Governmental premises... Any questions so far?" he asked. The question was merely to make sure he didn't lose the orc in his quickly spoken information on their plans...

Ral watched as Tro looked him up and down apperantly not having noticed his size at first sight. Tro looked up at Ral and begun to explain the Resistences plans to invade Taralon once the imperials left for Orckon. Then they would come out of the sewers and "give Orckon a fight chance", whilest also attempting to overthrow the Taralon government. Ral thought it was a good plan, he knew that the ratta was trying to make it seem like they were saving Orckon, but Ral knew that the fact was they needed Orckon to help overthrow the Taralon government. But the fact was that their attack actually would distract some of the imperials away from Orckon, so Ral wanted to do this mission.

"Yea, Ral gotcha plain an clear. Ju need Orckon an us to elp ju overthrow Taralon and make it jur city. But dis fine as long as us and Orckon get ours. Ju no ju scratch me back an me scratch ju back, an whatnot. Me ave to admit dow dat jur right, we will get some attention off Orckon for a while, so it all good wid me. But remember dis me friend, Ral must bring Orckons kaugzi back alive, so don't do anyting dat'll get'em wiped out."

The dwarf frowned and looked to Eyvind with a somewhat embaraced face. Hands behind his back he spoke.

"I took a bath a Cycle ago...so I am not that stinky...damn lads..."

Surprised the Cencoris didn't know what to say at first but was saved by the silent Dogg.

"It is not you who smell, my friend. It's the sewers. They smell to Ratta to me and my nose is never wrong."

"Ratta? I've heard there is a small comunity of them living under Taralon. I've also heard not so good tales about them..."

Added the young Warrior-poet. The Officer nodded and scratched his chin.

"I myself dislike Rattas, their furry and unclean and usual don't play according with the rules...and now I am worried with these boys. Follow me, let's bring them back, it's never safe to wander in the sewers, no matter if there are Ratta in there or not."

The other nodded and approached the sewers' entrance. It was dark inside and except for Drok who was a dwarf the others could barely see in the darkness ahead. Luckily the boys had left some torches and the group readily lightened them. With Eyvind in the lead and Drok at his side the Legionaries entered the blackness beneath Taralon.

As Tro listened to Ralzari speak, he smiled a furry grin, and then looked at him. "Don't worry, we don't plan on getting any of your men killed, now the legions, that's a different story, we certainly plan on getting as many of them killed as possible. They are the only thing that stands between us and Taralon, so we need to gather as much information on them as possible before we strike at anything..." he said, and then awaited any input the Orc might have to give before going over their plans.

Eyvind

As the small group entered the sewers, they could see a dim light at the very end, but it was drawing to darkness quickly as the group of kids seemed to turn a corner. The group could choose to follow the noise of the kids, cautiously, or make their way quickly to them to bring them back. It all depended on how they wanted to make their way into the sewers, but danger seemed like it could pop out at any time in the black around the group...

Ral listened to Tro speak and was pleased with what he was saying. The little smirk that came across his face as he spoke though made Ral uneasy. He would be keeping his eyes on Tro during this mission. It would'nt be a good thing for Ral if the kaugzi given to him were killed, if this were to happen it would be Ral's head. For some reason Tro made Ral uneasy, Ral would have to closely observe Tro's actions and words just to help ensure the saftey of the kaugzi and himself. "So wad do ju no bout da imperials bove us. An how ju plan on findin out more bout dem?"

Tro looked at him, and then said, "it is easy, we will send out a spy, namely our unnamed friend here, who shall gather information about the Imperials. As for you and your troops, we shall keep you here until our attack..." And with that, the man whom had guided Ralzari and his troops left their hide out, to gather information about the Imperials.

OOC: Ralzari, over the next day or two, i'll post up a new thread for you and your troops about attacking the city. If you want to explore the sewers a bit as Eyvind is doing, feel free to say something about it IC.

The tunnel ahead of them was dark but the present of the kids was noticed thanks to the light of their torches. The Vagaran prepared himself for a short sprint to run and catch the boys before they found something worse than Rattas. It was when an exploding sound echoed behind him, due to the tunnel's size the noise was compressed and the red-haired man had to cover his ears with his hands, almost setting his own long hair on fire with the torch while doing so. Three pairs of eyes looked back over the shoulder at the bulky Dorin.

"Hrr...I'm sorry?"

"Bless you Dogg...now I bet the kids got scared and started running from us..."

Said Eirik while shaking his head. When he turned forward his eyes met Eyvind's and the Warrior-poet grinned playfully. Drok's laughter made the five soldiers start laughing out loud for a few moments.

"Well my friend, I will offer you a napkin once we return to the surface..."

"I'll make sure I'll use it to clean the latrin's seat with it before sitting hehe!"

"But only after Eyvind used it ahah!"

"Oh, as if you didn't miss the hole from time to time, old hag!"

After another laughter the five Legionnaires Composed themselves and resumed their journey into the sewers. The light of the kids torch had disappeared in the next corner and now the group was further behind than expected. As darkness surrounded them the sense of opression and possible danger engulfed them. Drok held the axe he had had hanging from his belt, Eirik's dagger could be seen glinting on his hand and Coates sword was tightly gripped. Eyvind trusted his instincts and he would use his sword if needed while Dogg felt comfortable fighting with his hands being a good wrestler.

The group turned the corner.

What Eyvind and his companions didn't know, was that there were darker things lurking in the sewers, much darker than the Ratta that they may have smelled. Fires boiled and burned deep deep under them, as certain creatures of darkness, mosters beyond belief had bored their way down there millenia ago. But the adventurers would not know that unless they decided to explore more than catching the kids that seemed to be screaming and shouting at the adventurers, taunting them to follow.

"Come on you stinky old me, come and get us!" they screamed.

But when the Dorin sneezed, and the echos rolled through the sewers like thunder, they turned tail and began to run the opposite way. Suddenly, there was another screech, louder than the dorin's sneeze that came from the direction that the children were in. It was almost comical how quickly the kids turned tail, and began to run directly back towards Eyvind and his group. Five of the kids ran the directly passed the group, up and out of the sewers. It would be up to Eyvind and his companions to either investigate the screeching coming through the sewers, or to turn around and follow the scared kids up and out of the waterworks...
