Carter Collegio - Academy of Combat

Situated in the heart of the training district, the Academy of Combat was a low, flat building that sprawled lazily over the grounds of the college. Oddly shaped at angles, the spaces were filled with small, lush gardens full of green grass blades and creepers that climbed up the stone walls. Occasionally a bench was placed here and there for students to sit, relax, and reflect on the days lessons. In fact, the Academy had an entire fenced off section of well-kept turf, for outside practice, though it remained widely unused in the winter.

Despite the buildings odd shape where various classrooms and combat halls had been built in a slightly careless manner, the main entrance was not hard to find, donned with two life-size stone statues. One depicted a warrior with a longsword, looking ready for battle and wearing full armour, whilst the other was carved into the likeness of a be-robed female mage in the process of casting a spell. Big wooden double doors led into the Academy proper, which were propped open during the day and wedged shut at night.

Stepping through the doorway led into a fairly large foyer area, made to look homely by a rug or two positioned on the floor and some paintings will a battle theme hung on the walls. Various chairs lined the walls, for people waiting to be seen to, and at the opposite end of the room stood a large wooden desk. Above the desk on chains suspended from the ceiling was a big wooden plaque sporting the word 'Registrations'.

Behind the desk sat a female Esh'lahier elf, white hair tucked behind her pointed ears in a severe manner. She wore a prim white blouse, and a quill was being toyed with between her slender fingers. A smile adorned her face if she spotted any potential students, but other than that her features remained quite expressionless.

On the wall next to the registration desk was a engraved wooden board, that listed all the types of available training and the cost of learning them.

It had been some time since Yarrow had last been in here, but since her training in history had come to an end she was ready to get back with what she had been learning before. Her eyes scanned down the price list until she came to what she had been looking for, but didn't find it.

Yarrow turned toward the desk and looked up at the female Esh'lahier elf. She had white hair and she wore a prim white blouse. A quill was being toyed with between her slender fingers. A smile adorned her face if she spotted Yarrow, but other than that she remained quite expressionless.

"Are you a soldier?" The elf needed no answer for she could already see her uniform. Yarrow decided to answer her anyway with a nod. The elf only smiled and nodded her head. "What are you interested in then?"

"I am up to the Initiate level in Druidism...but I see it is not listed."
"We don't have it listed, no, but maybe Jared would take on another student..."
"I would be happy to pay for my training."
"There is no need for your training is free until you reach the master lesvel. All I need to see is your military..." Yarrow quickly produced the ID and the elf nodded her head on seeing it. Then she took her quill and wrote down Yarrow's name and rank and then handed over her scheduel.
"Thank you." Yarrow said and the elf only nodded. Yarrow turned and made her way out and into the Summer heat.

Kithus is an upstanding Citizen
Kithus viewed the extensive list of possible classes as the elf at the desk glanced briefly at him, noting down that he might be a potential student. If it wasn't for the fact that he already had a goal in mind when he entered the academy, Kithus would have been tempted to take a intermediate longsword class. But, he decided that he'll have to do that after he's done what he came here for.

"Serale," Kithus greeted. "I would like to sign up for an apprentice level mysticism course. Is it true that all military personnel are entitled to free training at this academy?"

The elf behind the desk smiled as Kithus advanced. A potential student mayhaps? She turned to look at him as he approached.

"Serale sir. Apprentice mysticism? Of course, sir. Would you like to continue any previous training or would you like to start anew? And yes, all military personnel are entitled to free training at this academy. It is quite the perk to be a dog of the military."

She chuckled and twiddled with her pen before dipping it in ink and setting it to paper.

"So, shall I sign you up?"

OOC:

Kithus, I have been informed that you have had training in apprentice mysticism in Prime before it got locked. I am basically giving you the chance to resume where you left off, and finding an IC reason to do it. So if you want to do that, just let her know you want to resume previous training; then you and your trainer can work out what you have already learned.

OOC: That's great! Thanks a lot!

IC:

"I would like to continue my previous training, please, miss. It was cut brutality short. But, I have already been initiated to apprenticehood. What I woefully lack is the knowledge that comes with the promotion." Kithus replied with a smile.

Pausing for a moment, Kithus took out his military visa and pushed it toward the elven woman behind the desk.

"Would that be sufficient proof to qualify for free training?" Kithus asked.

The woman accepted Kithus' military identification card, looked it over, and returned it to him, nodding.

"Yes, that is sufficient proof. Your training will begin the next brightening. Arrive here at two candlemarks past dawn, your trainer will meet you. You can then explain the situation to him, and we shall see about getting you that promotion. Will that be all, sir?"

OOC:

Start up a thread in this forum titled Apprentic Mysticism [Reliant] and I will pick it up for you and RP it from there.

"Thank you very much, miss." Kithus said cordially. "I'll be sure to be here. Good day."

With that, Kithus turned and left to prepare for the lesson next day.

Dar en-Bré is an upstanding Citizen
Timestamp: Dusk, The Month of Cryxatum in the Season of Summer, of Era II of the Celestine Mandate (Current Pattern) Era XI Post Fractum in the Age of the Darkening, the Mageocracy of Julos the Mad. Paradigm Shift: Schism in the Church of the Faith.

Dar's tired legs had finally carried him to the Carter Collegio. So excited was he to reach the end of his long journey, he had not even stopped to rest since eating breakfast far outside the city's gates. The gateman had told him that this is the place to go for those interested in training of all types, and Dar intended to put the man's advice to the test.

Upon entry to the main building itself, Dar took notice of the registrations desk, as well as the fact that a small man, presumably another would-be student, was discoursing with the registrar. Dar busied himself looking at the myriad paintings decorating the hall's walls.

As the room fell silent, Dar took his attention away from the paintings and directed it towards the registrations desk, which he approached. "Serale," he said, "I'm looking to enroll in initiate Mysticism." A small smile played across the registrar's face.

"Very well, the fee is two hundred crowns, do you have the appropriate funds?"

Dar held up a finger as if to say, "one second" as he took two hundred-crown banknotes from his satchel. He looked down at them in his hand for a moment, seeming as if he were unwilling to part from them, until he placed them gently on the desk.

The registrar smiled again as she collected the currency and inquired, "Your name, sir?"

"Dar en-Bré," was the prompt response.

"Very well," the registrar said again, "your class starts tomorrow at noon. I will inform your instructor." She paused to write something on a paper on her desk, which she handed to Dar. "On this paper is the name of your instructor and the location of your classroom. Will that be all, sir?"

"Yeah, thanks," he said, then left the building to look for lodging.

Lauke is an upstanding Citizen
As Lauke entered the foyer of the Academy of Combat, he let out a breath he hadn't known he'd been holding. "I guess the smith was right," he murmured to himself. Having heard from the smith he'd bought his falchion from that training could be had in the Synesi Plateia, he'd wandered the section of the city for a few hours, trying to find the right place. Now he was here, and it was time to receive the training he needed to become an adventurer.

There didn't seem to be anyone ahead of him, so Lauke walked right up to the Registration desk. "Serale," the young human said brightly to the receptionist. "I need basic training in the use of the falchion." He smiled, waiting for a response.

The Esh'lahier looked back at him with a skeptical look. The human looked ignorant, happy, and downright silly with that bandanna on his head. And he really thought he could learn how to use a sword? She waited a few seconds, then smiled as she always did at a prospective student. You couldn't always judge a book by its cover. Maybe this boy could learn how to fight. "All I need is your Imperial Visa, your name, and the cost of the training." She checked her memory. "That would be 150 crowns."

"Oh, alright," Lauke replied, a little taken aback by her long pause and sudden activity. He dug into his pockets and pulled out his Imperial Visa and a pile of crowns. "My name's Lauke," he added, handing over his Visa and counting up the crowns on the desk. When he reached 150, he pushed them over to the elf.

Checking his Visa, the receptionist saw that it was legitimate and in date. Double checking the amount of crowns the human had counted out, she quickly pulled out a lockbox, unlocked it, and put the money inside, closing and locking it again. Placing the box out of sight, she pulled out some schedules. "Now, let's see when we can get you in," she said, scanning the sheets. Who could give this human a good wake-up call back to reality? Norinsh had the skill and the attitude, but his group classes were booked solid for the next month. That left individual, private training. Norinsh wouldn't be happy, training a single halfwit how to fight, but his happiness wasn't her responsibility. It was making sure each student who came here received the training they needed.

She smiled, filling Lauke's name in the appropriate spot. "All right, everything is in order," she said, handing Lauke's Visa back to him. "Your training begins the next brightening at the ninth candlemark. Your trainer will be..." she pretended to check the schedule again, "...Akaim Norinsh, at the practice field outside."

"Okay then," Lauke replied with a grin. "Thank you very much, and serale." With that, he turned about and left the Academy of Combat, intent on getting home and preparing for his training. Soon enough, his sword would be put to good use.
