Carter Collegio - Academy of Trade
The academy of trade was probably the most popular of the three faculties of the college, allowing people to gain the skills they needed to make a success go of things in the busy trade city of Abestat. The academy campus was situated in a northerly direction of the combat academy, and consisted of many different separate structures, each one holding the equipment needed to teach the many different trades skill on offer - for a price.
The administration building was right in the heart of the campus, a large, two story building, that also accommodated several classrooms for skills that did not need specific equipment to be taught. Like the Combat academy, the building had large double doors that were propped open, inviting potential students inside.
The lobby and registration hall was particularly small, just three chairs lining one wall and a desk situated at the back of the room, a clerk sat behind it. The clerk in question was a female Dorin, pretty - from a Dorin's point of view, with no distinguishable markings. A large book sat open on the desk, and she was bent over it, writing something down with a feather quill, occasionally thoughtfully grooming a whisker or her dark-brown coloured fur. A wooden board next to the desk proclaimed the different sorts of trades that could be learnt in the school.

ooc: This is carried on from the last thread! Thank you!
ic: The clerk looked up from her desk at the lady and the boy with her and smiled. They weren't the same species so she didn't think that they were related, but they looked close...and it wasn't everyday that someone came in asking about horse ridding lessons. The lady was also in military uniform...perhaps she was just helping the lad out...
Horse Ridding is it? She looked down at her list and nodded. A beginner costs 200 Crowns...Sergeant... She told the woman with a smile. She extended her hand and waited for the money to be given. Once the 200 crowns were in her clutches...she looked up a teacher's name.

It had been a long, drawn-out decision, but Mordeneb and Falaria had decided not to leave Abestat, at least not immediately. Primary among their reasons for deciding against it was the opportunity that the nearby Carter Collegio gave Mordeneb to further his education.
Mordeneb walked up to the Dorin clerk and politely asked, "May I sign up for an intermediate law class, please?" He already knew the price system, and so he wasn't entirely listening when she requested the 400 crowns. He paid her absentmindedly.
"The class will begin next brightening, in room 3," the clerk said. Mordeneb nodded. The same classroom he had been in during his previous lessons. He almost asked whether Leon would be his teacher again, but decided instead to savor the anticipation and find out on the next day.
Having completed his transaction, he hurried home, eager to tell Falaria that he had enrolled and was about to begin the intermediate class. She would be happy.

Xanta entered the Academy of Lore several brightenings after he had completed his course in Literacy. Eager to learn more skills to aid him in his quest through life, he had come to the Lore building to inquire about tracking classes.
"Serale," he said, approaching the Dorin at the desk. He checked the sign just to make sure they did, in fact, offer tracking. They did, so he carried on. "I would like to enroll for beginner tracking classes, please," he said with a smile.

The Dorin's muzzle opened slightly in the canine's way of a smile. "Serale sir," she said, addressing Xanta. "You may certainly enroll in a tracking class. The price list is here," she said, indicating a wooden sign with a clawed paw.
Xanta pulled his wallet from the black depths of his robe and pulled out 200 crowns worth of currency. "I'd like to enroll for a beginner's course," he said, handing the Dorin the crowns.
She took the money and put it in some hidden drawer. "Thank you," she said. "Your lessons will begin next brightening in room 7."
Xanta nodded goodbye and left the Collegio.

Cycle two, Immanis, Spring of Era XI
The small half-elf had found the academy of trade through a process of wandering and curiosity and entering the small room, at first she paused by the desk to take in the dorin receptionist with a small smile. It appeared to be a most useful establishment and pushing her dark hair back, she glanced down the list of available courses, searching for one which would aid her in her quest for knowledge. It wasn't listed but with some hope prompted by the sentence to enquire anyway, she turned back to the dorin.
"Um, serale," she began a little shyly. "I was wondering if there was a course that would teach me about being an undertaker? You know.. burying people and so on. I haven't a clue about what to do apart from bung 'em in a coffin, but I think there's more to it than that." The grin which followed was rather sweet and naive, but her large violet eyes danced merrily.
"Undertaking?" the dorin receptionist replied. "I think we probably can find you something in that line but it will be a while before it's available. You're a resident of Abestat, right?"
Phoebe stared for a moment. Resident? She could be if she moved from Port Constantine, but it would be something she'd have to do first before signing up. "Um, no actually. I guess I should be, if I want to train here ..." Chewing her bottom lip, she considered the idea some more. "Tell you what, I'll come back when I've sorted out my residency, miss. Thanks for your help!"
And with that the half-elf trotted out of the Academy.
