Apprentice Elementalism - Agaenos [Private]
Timestamp: Fifteenth Brightening of Optia, Era I in the Celestine Mandate, Era X Post Fractum.
Arcana Room 3 was based in the Arcana block of the academy. All the classrooms concerned with magic seemed to have been lumped into only one building, whereas the weaponry classrooms spanned over at least four. Classroom number three was not hard to find, and soon Agaenos found himself standing outside the door of the place he would hopefully graduate to Apprentice.
The contents classrooms for Arcana lessons were grossly different from that of the combat rooms, also. Whilst the weapon halls had been made big enough to take several students and intructors at the same time, the arcana rooms were small, cozy in stature, and quite obviously only meant for one or two students simulanteously.
Peering around the door would reveal a quite plainly decorated room that held three luxuriously stuffed and padded armchairs that had been situated around a fireplace. It hadn't been lit however, considering the warm spring weather, but it saw a lot of use in the winter time. At the other end of the room was a free standing blackboard, a small ridge a the bottom holding various broken pieces of chalk that were once sticks, obviously for discussing the theory of magic. The only other piece of furniture was a long table made of a red coloured wood that had been placed against the back wall. It held a variety of everyday items, such as stationary, a couple of mugs, and a kettle, plus two pots that held tea and coffee respectively.
Babs was sitting in one of the comfy armchairs, sipping a dark coloured liquid from a third mug, that had a slight chip in the round lip of the container. She was of human origins, judging by her height, rounded ears, and lack of scales or fur. Her hair had been tied back into a messy looking bun, and was of a dull brown colour that seemed to have no shine to it whatsoever. Her eyes were hazel-coloured, green flecks showing in their depths as the elementalist looked up at Agaenos as he entered the classroom. Her clothes were fairly simple, a cream coloured prim and proper blouse coupled with a dark brown coloured skirt made of wall. A pair of black slip-on shoes flip-flopped idly on her feet.
She blinked her eyes a few times, then gave Agaenos a lopsided grin before climbing out of the big armchair in a slightly clumsy manner and offering the soldier her free hand to shake.
"Serale, serale serale!! Agaenos, correct??! I'm Babs!! A pleasure to meet you, I'm sure!!!"

OOC: Erm, Aesha, my lesson should be on the fifteenth of Carmelyana, since I registered on the fourteenth, and the NPC clerk, Hilda, told me IC'ly the lesson "would start tomorrow", referring to the day immediately after 14th.
IC:
A nervous tinge hung about him.
He knew what was to come this Brightening. He had been anticipating it with a concealed excitement. Striding through the Arcana section of the Academy of Combat, however, he was just a little bit miffed - why was it that the Arcana section was only crammed into one single building? Had they no more room, or even no more need to expand? "Hmm... Maybe I should persuade more people to learn Arcana..."
"And if they go into the wrong hands?" His conscience argued back.
"... Nevermind." His mind sighed in defeat.
His pace, although as nonchalant-seeming as they could be, were still relatively swift, as his well-trained legs brought him to this unfamiliar section of the Synesi Plateia. Soon enough, the brown orbs of his soul's windows caught sight of Arcana Room 3. Instinctively, he peered around the corner - and it bought a warm smile to his lips.
Nothing luxurious or whatsoever, and yet, it resembled a commoner's sitting room. It was homely and relaxing, with none of the typical classroom atmosphere which the Academy of Trade usually exhibited. His glance was brought to the fireplace, unlit though well used in the last season, before sweeping across the table, eyeing the mugs, kettle and pots. The setting here was splendid - exactly as he would have liked it. The chalkboard? He did not really mind, though maybe the chalks should be replaced soon...
He caught sight of his teacher soon enough. Judging from her appearence and the combination of racial traits, it was rather blatant that she was a Human - any other heritages within her was, at Agaenos' first glance, undetectable. Her eyes had the same tone as the specks of his own hair... Though, an emerald undertone shone through it. That was peculiar...
"Professor Hanselbrach?" He announced his prescence.
Somewhat undexterously, she clambered out of her chair, before making her way towards the Corporal. A lopsided grin was still plastered to her face. He only had a warm, sincere smile to match his comedic counterpart.
"Serale, serale serale!! Agaenos, correct??! I'm Babs!! A pleasure to meet you, I'm sure!!!"
... Zealous...
"Wow... And I thought I was enthusiastic..." It became his turn to blink a couple of times, but more in pleasent consideration than anything else.
"Yes... Serale Babs! A pleasure to meet you! Quite a nice, cozy room you have here, is it not?"
He had a feeling he would sincerely like his graduation from an Initiate Elementalist...

OOC: Whoops, I couldn't be bothered to look up the stamp and tried to guess it ^_^
IC: "Yes, yes, that's me!! That's me indeed!!" The Elementalist replied to the address Agaenos gave to her in her high pitched voice, that tended to squeak slightly whenever the sentence sounded as if it would have an exclamation mark at the end of it, if it had been written down. Bouncing slightly on the heels of her feet she gestured to one of the armchairs, bidding her student to sit down. While she did so, she herself wandered over to the work bench.
"Make yourself at home! Can I offer you anything? Tea? Coffee??!"
She turned, kettle in hand, and gave Agaenos a slightly goofy grin whilst waiting for her reply, a mug ready to pour should he take up her offer.
"So! Mr.... Agaenos Phidion... correct?! Why don't you tell me briefly what you learnt at Initiate level, to refresh your memory, and inform me of how you were taught!! Who was your teacher, by the way, if I make ask?!"

The professor possessed a rather high-pitched voice - in fact, so high-pitched that the Corporal could only wonder whether that was deliberately sounded. For some time, his mind could only halt still its chain of thoughts, with his eyes regarding her teacher with an avid sense of bemusement. After all, it was not often that students received teachers such as this one. Very, very rarely...
Truth was, one would have to wonder whether she was really a teaecher at all. Though the man did not doubt...
She paced over to him, bouncing upon her heels slightly. The female counterpart in the classroom had an (he thought) amazing disposition to be jovial and zealous about the subject she taught. Not that he was not, of course - he was eager to ascend to Apprentice level as well, though she seemed to really enjoy this job. "Well... Good for her." His mind intoned.
"Make yourself at home! Can I offer you anything? Tea? Coffee??!"
A warm smile crept to his face, as his teacher offered him a drink. His teacher! It should have been the other way around... But, then, nevermind. He was just a tad bit thirsty anyway, and tea did catch his fancy. His tongue suddenly longing to taste the fragrance of the drink, he nodded, before replying in a jovial (to a lesser extent, compared to Babs) tone. "A cup of tea would be brilliant, Professor."
... That grin reminded him of what he used to do when he accidentally showed the clumsy side of himself to people...
Thanking her and gratefully taking the cup, he gave the cup of drink a slight, contented sniff, before carefully sipping the refreshing drink from within. Ah, tea - what better way to fill the stomach with a wholesome drink? Besides, alcohol sometimes did not carry that speical, refreshing taste. Too much inebriated a person too.
"So! Mr... Agaenos Phidion... Correct?!" She (in a way) squeaked.
He nodded his head somewhat emphatically, the vigour almost matching Bab's voice. Ah ha - so now, he had to recount what he had learned. All he remembered from his proper Initiate training were the basic spells - later on, when he read up upon the spell-shaping techniques and the Dispelling technique in the Initiate level, he was somewhat miffed - his teacher never taught him that, promptly leaving him in the dark as to what Dispelling entailed. Still, thankfully, in those normal every-Brightening Arcana practice, he had made a few fruitful attempts.
There were times when you just had to work independently...
"If I remember correctly, my teacher was one called Kales... An Arakmatan. He taught me all the Intiate spells - Earth Spike, Elemental Grasp, Elemental Orb, Elemental Shock, Glowing Sphere and Inner Radiance. I had the most practice with Glowing Sphere, however. Unfortunately..." He paused for a moment, letting that word to sink in, "I had to learn about Dispelling through my own research in the library, as well as the five Mana-shaping techniques... Alteration, Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination and Evocation. Is that correct?"

The Elementalist bobbed a nod at Agaenos' request for a cup of tea and soon went about the business of making one, heading over to the long work surface at the side of the room with a bounce in her step. Taking the lid of one of the jars gathered there, the petite arcana teacher mixed the contents together with the transparent liquid that the kettle contained, before turning to Agaenos and handing him the mug with a perky smile.
"There you go! Enjoy!!"
Even as the Corporal took the cup, he could tell that something was subtly wrong.. the chipped china container was stone cold. Upon tasting the liquid, it could be confirmed that the water that Babs had used to make the tea had certainly not been heated in the slightest!
However, the teacher was seemingly unaware of her apparent mistake, and waved a hand towards one of the comfy armchairs, offering Agaenos a seat as she repositioned herself in the one she had hopped out of when her new student had entered the room, and cocked her head on one side a little, listening carefully to what Agaenos had to say about his previous lessons.
"Ahh, right. Kales, you say? I've not heard of him!! However, he couldn't have been a very good teacher if he forgot Dispel!!"
Pausing, she nodded, and then continued talking in her slightly peculiar , over-accented way.
"So you are familiar with the terms Meditate, Focus, and Channel, I take it?!" Babs didn't wait for a reply before asking Agaenos to complete her first task of the lesson. "Okay, well, I want you to cast Elemental Orb for me please!! Just so I can see your technique!"

Watching his teacher is simply... Amusing. To no end. The way she went about hopping all over the place, the energetic and definitely zealous bounce in her steps was just utterly unconventional of other teachers. At least, not Kales. Watching her teacher pour out the transparent fluid of water, the non-Arcane essence of Life (arguably), into the cup, he stretched a smiel as the thanked the teacher, and received the slightly chipped china cup -
"Erm... Uh-oh..." His mind sighed.
... And it did not just sigh out of the blue - obviously, his mentality sighed for a particular, specific reason. Or rather, two reasons - firstly, the tea did not mix. The fragrance and colour did not come out, and despite having the tea deposited at the bottom of the cup... It was still transparent. Secondly, the cup was cold. Stone cold. Very cold. Blinking at it in utter blankess for around a couple of seconds, he showed his gratitude nonetheless, before, taking a small sip, his suspicions were confirmed.
... Cold tea.
"Does she drink this stuff?" He inadvertently wondered. The reason was quite simple - people normally drank tea hot. Silly woman. Either she's silly, has a problem with her mind (which, judging by her behaviour, seemed to be the most likely option), or that she was playing a rather mischievous joke on him (... He hoped that was not the case).
Being blissfully oblivious to her mistake, though, she plopped back down onto her seat, and listened to the Corporal's speech about his Initiate lesson. Meanwhile, he did not take another sip of that liquid. Unless the tea... Was hot... He would not drink it. Maybe, though, he could find some opportunity to heat it up with his skills in Elementalism...
"Ahh, right. Kales, you say?"
He gave a curt nod. And he had to agree with her - all Kales taught him was Meditation, the spells... And that was it. No Channeling, no Focus, no Dispel, and certainly not the Mana-Shaping Techniques. Thinking back, his Initiate teacher had left a massive chasm in his path to learning! Thank Aetheria above he persued self study... So that was fine.
Elemental Orb - a spell that will prove useful. Of course, he had still yet to find an opportunity to use it upon an enemy. He could still remember the four Elements, of Fire, Water, Air and Earth, and what the orb would produce when different Elements were used. Well, he did consider heating up that sordid cup of tea with a small orb of fire... But looking at the state of the chipped china, he thought better of it - breaking cutleries might incure her wrath, and he would rather not do that.
Giving Babs a nod, he began the familiar process.
Closing his eyes, gently regulating his own breathing, he meditated, seeking out the tranquil state of Clara, in which he would be able to Arcanically detetect the radiant Vis of Babs and himself, as well as the colourful, fickle ocean of Ara, the infinite energy, which surround them upon the Material Plane, the mix of this energy being the result of a convergence of the Ara in the other plane. Once he successfully achieved that, he sought to Focus upon the strands and tendrils of Ara around him, pulling him towards his own Vis and forming a link to the Elemental Planes, Channeling energy out of them, which would be to form his spell...
... Which Plane...?
Without much hesitation, he chose his favourite element - the sometimes fickle, yet versatile and powerful realm of Air. Channeling the energy out of that Elemental Plane, he stored the newly-acquired energy as Mana within his mind.
If all of that was successful, he would then complete the final stages of his spell-casting. Using his sheer mental power, he attempted to Abjure the Mana in front of him - simply in the air in front of him, feeding the energy into the immediate air in front of him. This time... He would not Evoke it, as he did not want to strike anything - though if successful, there should hopefully be a humming ball of electricity in front of him...
He still wanted to heat the tea up, though.
Cold tea.
Bleuh.

abs sat and sipped the liquid out of her mug, regardless of whether it was stone cold or not, and watched carefully as Agaenos did as instructed and began the casting of the spell Elemental Orb. She crossed her legs, and leant one elbow on the nice, padded arm of the armchair, getting into a comfy position from which to watch her student.
It took a while for Agaenos to enter the state of meditation, as it did for initiates. After about five minutes of using the technique, the Corporal found himself entering the trance-like state that allowed him to manipulate the energies of Ara and Vis, and able to cast the spell he had been instructed to show Babs. Shortly after his preperations and the casting of the spell, Agaenos held a glowing ball of lightening in his hands, approximately 4 inches in diameter.
Babs simply nodded, and Agaenos felt some sort of movement in the Astral plane, before the ball disappeared. From his study in the library, it was clear that Babs had used the technique of Dispel on the orb.
She shifted in her seat a little, then gestured to the one opposite her, indicating that she wanted Agaenos to sit because she had some expplaining to do.
"Okay!! I want to go back to basics here a little!! Kales taught you about Ara and Vis, correct?! Well, I'm assuming he didn't teach you about Essence?! And the Astral Plane and the Material Plane??!"

OOC: Sorry for another ultra-short post. Am very rushed right now with almost no inspiration... *cries*
IC:
He succeeded - holding the humming ball of crackling electrical energy upon the air in front of him, he created a sufficiently large Elemental Orb of lightning, upon the top range, most probably, of an Initiate's standard. Not bad - although he would have liked it to be slightly larger.
But he was only an initiate - what else could he expect?
Much to his expectations, as he held the product of his success just in front of him, held and bound by metaphorical forces all around, when the humming faded away into oblivion. He knew Babs had Dispelled his spell with her masterful proficiency. That was just one of the other things which Kales did not teach him. Talking about military teachers... They were extremely unreliable sometimes.
Although it was not time to ponder such things, and as such, as his teacher signalled him to settle down upuon a seat just opposite to her, he did just that - although he never took another sip of that freezing cup of tea. Now, a a Glowing Sphere crafted out of flame would do some good...
Listening to her question, he first gave a nod, before a frown appeared at the second part... The Planes. Here Kales went missing vital aspects of Arcana again...
"I know about the Essences..." He began, "Though, only for Elementalism - Air, Fire, Water and Earth. I know of the Psionic Plane, where Mystics draw their energy from... And Celestial Plane. Oh - the Natural Plane. Other than that..." He shook his head sadly, "Nothing about the Astral and Material Plane."
Knowing the somewhat over-active nature of Babs, he was sort of expecting a rather volatile reaction from her...

IC:
Listening to Agaenos made Babs raise an eyebrow in... An absolutely unreadable emotion. He could not quite make out whether she was disappointed, surprised, or just plain expected that answer to come up. To a degree, however, she actually did expect that sort of answer to come from the mouth of the Corporal - after all, after hearing about his old Arcana teacher, Kales, who had managed to so carelessly miss the basic techniques during his Initiate phase of learning Elementalism. Taking a good, large gulp of that cold tea (Agaenos wondered whether his teacher actually had a major problem with her sense of taste), she exclaimed again in her exaggerated, squealing voice.
"Good!! Air, Water, Fire and Earth are the four Elements, but I just knew he didn't teach you about the Planes of Existences!!"
"We live on the Material Plane!!" She commenced, her enthusiasm obviously showing as the professor straightened up on her seat, "This is where all the Planes of Existences converge! Hence, that is why we experience everything and anything possible!! The Astral Planes - they are where we draw the energies from! You know the energy you draw up to form an electic orb, the Plane of Air?! That is an Astral Plane! So are the Psionic, Celestial, Infernal, Nature, Force Planes!!
Now listen!" She continued, whilst Agaenos was positively unblinking in his attentiveness. That snap was sharp enough anyway. "Mystics draw energy from the Psionic Plane! Elementalists, such as us, draw from the Elemental Planes! Thaumaturgists from Celestial, Necromancers from Infernal - you want to be careful about them! Necromancy is illegal! You don't want anything to do with them!! Also, Sorcerers from the Plane of Force, Druids from Nature! Song is different - it uses music to initiate an Arcalysis - an Arcane reaction!! Finally, Ikos affects chance and probabilities, and uses Runes and the subconscious!!"
The Corporal nodded - that was a whole load to take in, although the zealous tone of Babs actually worked in his favour to absorb all that information in. Thank Aetheria he did have a good teacher for his Apprentice Elementalism, even if a bit queer.
Then, before he knew it, Babs had already immersed herself in the tranquil state of Clara. How anyone as active as her could become tranquil and meditative, it was completely beyond Agaenos, though all he knew was, before long, he felt the constricting bounds of his own Vis becoming lifted. Where there had been a metaphysical barrier, a limit, to which he could draw his Vis, it seemed to be gone... Or at least, pushed further away. He could use more Vis now.
Out came a loud congratulatory shout.
"Congratulations, Apprentice Agaenos!!"
His ears were throbbing with her voice...

There were times when the Corporal just had to wonder whether Babs' voice could actually demolish a building - by Ioannes, that was unexpected, loud, and ear-piercing. Agaenos had to resort to rubbing his ears discreetly in an endeavour to ease the slight pain which was throbbing within the depths of his ears. Thankfully, his professor did not seem to notice that - she was still overjoyed at being able to raise the Arcanic barrier within him, allowing him to draw upon more energy, use more Vis and manipulate more Mana at the same time. Snatching her own cup, she downed the cold tea, before finally, gradually, slowly settling down back upon her couch. Sure, Agaenos was excited, delighted and delirious - though with the way Babs reacted, that had to be an exaggeration, surely?
"Brilliant!! Now, Apprentice!! You have a choice to make," she announced, a squeal in her voice very much apparent. The newly-made Apprentice of Elementalism listened with all of his attention, the pain within his ears gone and ignored. "I can teach you the spells first! Or the techniques! Which one would you like to learn first?!"
He had a good idea of that - obviously, the techniques would be great, though for some incomprehensible reasons, he was more anxious to learn the spells first - just like Kales had once taught him, the spells (even though he completely missed out the techniques). The spells, he was sure, would be much more useful to him in many ways -
"Oh!! For one spell, Summon Elemental, I will need to teach you a technique at the same time as well!!"
"I could summon an... E-ele... Elemental?!" It was his turn to become startled. That certain was news to him.
"I would choose the spells first, professor." He said simply, hiding his enthusiasm - there was enough of it as it was in the room, and any more, he feared, would prompt the academy staff to barge into the room and scream at them to lower their Aeternia-shaking boisterous volume.
"Very well!! Now that I have promoted you to an Apprentice, you will find you can draw more energy and manipulate more Mana at the same time - this will be needed for the spells that I would teach you! Appentice spells, obviously, are more potent than the Initiate Spells! You know the spell, Elemental Orb?! Well, you might find you'd never need it anymore if you want to defend yourself properly!!" Catching her breath, she poured another cup of cold tea for herself, and to Agaenos' cup as well, causing his cup to be over-filled, with tea spilling out of the sides. Ignoring that particular overlooked mistake on his professor's behalf, and decided to pay full attention to her instead - no point in having his concentration diverted into something as trivial as some spilling tea now. Unless the tea spilled over onto him.
"Could you name me a spell that would be more powerful than an Elemental Orb?" Her student asked, his head full of curiosity. Anticipation fell upon his person, as he silently watched the teacher finish her tea, continuing on the lesson with much zeal.
"Ah, yes!! The first one which comes to my mind is a Shard of Ice!! You could conjure up an ice shard shaped like a spear, and hurl it towards your opponent!! Of course, it is made of ice, so uses the combined elements of Water and Air!! Just as you are about to release it, Evoke the Mana to hurt the opponent!!"
Turning, Babs pointed - or rather, poked - a shooting target in one corner of the room. It was just the perfect spot to practice the newest spell on.
"Go on!! Try it!!" Encouraged Babs.
With the instructions in mind, Aganeos nodded, and taking a deep breath, he began the process which he became familiar with - he slipped into a tranquil state of meditation. With each practice of this technique, he found himself able to slip into meditation with less time and effort - in fact, by the time he was able to perceive the etherscape, the ocean of Ara around him, he had a nudging thought that he had surpassed his previous speed records of slipping into this tranquil state, in which he was readily available to cast a spell.
Focusing upon the ocean of Ara around him, he began welding it with his own personal, organized Vis, the Corporal established a link to the Planes of the Elements. He remembered which two Planes Babs told him - Air and Water. Drawing the energies from them, and storing as Mana within his head, he found himself storing more Mana within his mind than ever - in fact, he was almost overjoyed that he could manipulate such much Mana at the same time. Now came the time of construction.
He conjured the mixed Mana into the shape of a spear, and in the space before him, the shape of a spear made of ice appeared, around five feet long. That would do quite fine. Standing at the opposite side of the room, the cold, metaphysical spear poised, pointing at its target - the red centre.
Using his willpower, he hurled the spear, whilst evoking the remaining Mana into damage at the same time. Watching as his conjured spear screamed through the air, he could only hope he would not break the property of the Academy... Or Babs' belongings...

The sharp-pointed icicle poised towards his desired target, he hurled the metaphysical spear of ice using his willpower alone whilst Evoking the piece of conjured weapon at the same time - it screamed through the air, anticipating a loud hit, or even shatter, upon the designated target - he watched - but it was almost too quick to watch. The Shard of Ice, after all, was designed to harm and maim...
Whilst not exactly right in the centre, the speeding spear of ice shattered itself upon the ring just below the target. Crisp nose of ice shattering reached both the student's and professor's ears, and the ice was left upon the floor, staying fixed as fragments, until the metaphysical weave which made up the ice would dissipate out to the material world. However, the Shard of Ice did prove powerful - at least, in comparision to the spells he had been taught as an Initiate - there was a rather large dent upon the target, icy cold where it struck, and where the point of the spear had pierce the target, a relatively large hole had been made - big enough to seriously make any offenders of the Corporal to consider whether it was wise to cross the temper of this particular man. In fact, Agaenos himself was rather impressed with the results of this spell. This was much, much more useful than an Elemental Orb...
"Agaenos!!" Babs exclaimed, the enthusiasm, or zeal, still mixed in with her squeak she always possessed whilst speaking, "That was impressive!! Many students do not have an ice shard as big as you did!! You know how damaging that one is, right?!!"
Agaenos nodded. He could give a rough gauge of how much that would hurt a person - at least, a Human. This was the first real spell he mastered which could make him seriously consider forgoing using his weapons during a battle.
For some reason, he found himself able to cope with the squeaking and utter exaggeration of his teacher's speech. Maybe having someone enthusiastic and... Unorthodox... To teach him was not a bad thing after all. In fact, he made a mental note pay extra attention to the less traditional professors. Such was the case that Agaenos suddenly felt himself much younger, almost as if he was back in his teens attending Schola, and deciding which teacher he liked, and consequently paid more attention to.
Links to the past could never be truely severed...
"That's good!! Now, one thing I like about being an Elementalist is that we can imbue things even when we are just Apprentices, whilst in other spheres, this is only doable when we become a Journeyman!! Of course, we cannot imbue any spells we like yet!! We can, however, imbue an element, either Fire, Water, Air or Earth into our weapons!! This will make our weapons as if they are magical!!"
The Corporal's eyes widened only marginaly, but his full attention laid solely with the professor. Magical weapons...
The word kept resonating within his mind.
"Fire will cause a blast that would burn!!" She continued, whilst the Corporal mentally pictured the effects themselves, "Water produces an icy chill! Air an electrical spark!! Finally, Earth produces an energetic stun!! You only need to Abjure the elements in, and then Evoke it! You have weapons, right?!"
He nodded. Slowly, he removed the broadsword sheath he hung upon his belt, and carefully unsheathed the weapon, laying it before him. It was just the perfect instrument to attempt this spell on.
"Go on!! Try it!!"
Having already submerged within the state of Clara, the Corporal focused upon the Ara weaves about, melding it with his Vis, connecting to the Plane of Elements. From his unexplained bias towards the ethereal yet potentially destructive realm of Air, he channeled the energy from that particular Plane, and stored the newfound Mana within his mind. The true construction then commenced.
Abjuring the mana onto the edges of the blade of his broadsword, the part where it would strike any unfortunate foes he would meet, he waited until the Mana had all flowed into the object itself, before evoking it, hoping his endeavour was successful and ancitipating some resemblance of electricity to dance alive upon his blade.
Magical weapons...

The electrifying Mana abjured into the edge of his trusted weapon (although he figured he needed to change it sometime in the future), the Corporal then evoked the Mana to deal damage to whatever it contacts, and the element of Air sparkled into life, the streams of electricity dancing upon its blade, crackling with the familiar voice of the light-blue energy. His broad sword was now charged with electricity, ready to deal out painful elemental damage to anyone who crossed his path in a most detestable way.
Agaenos, meanwhile, looked on with fascination - he had never before seen a magical weapon before in his life, and only heard about them in fabulous tales of myths and legends. He had never thought he would see one in his life, let alone actually imbue one himself, even if this was not the true imbuing which Journeymen have the privilege of learning. He stared amiably at the sword, its edges slightly aglow with the newfound energy he endowed. He finally had a weapon which he could call 'magical' whenever he wanted it to be. In fact, he realised, he could do the same with his bastard sword, and all of the crossbow bolts he owned. That prospect, this very single spell, had just managed to make this a Brightening he would, most probably, never forget. He grasped the hilt of his sword, the pride within him soaring, and the interest for Arcana, for that moment, peaked within his soul.
"Well!! Brilliant!! You might even want to try it out whilst the electricity still crackles!!" Babs exclaimed, whilst taking out something which resembled a dummy... In fact, it was a dummy. "The Academy of Combat's professors sometimes give me these when they are too broken for use!! Well, it is useful on this occasion!!"
Tossing the dummy over to Agaenos, the Corporal caught it, and stood it upright swiftly whilst the spell was still in effect and did not wear off. Grasping his broad sword in the position he had been taught all of those months ago, back in Winter, he plunged the tip of the sword into the dummy, before pulling it out again, slashing it twice, across the area of its chest. He did not pay too much attention to the correct stance, so long as he did not hurt either himself or the professsor - or broke anything within the relatively small room.
As the edges of the blade made contact with the unfortunate dummy, sparks flew around, the weapon crackled louder, and a streak of burned fabric was made visible upon the already-mangled stuffed dummy. The smell of burned substances permeated through the entire room.
"... I never thought I could do this..." Remarked the impressed man.
"Good, good!! Many people whom I taught were fascinated too!! Not surpsing, really! Now! We will need to be going out of this classroom for other spells - it would be too dangerous to cast them in this room!! Now, follow me!!"
As Agaenos followed Bab's lead out of the classroom, to whatever destination the Master Elementalist was taking him, the Corporal was left wondering what on Telath those spells could possibly be - too dangerous to be cast in a room?
Something catastrophic, perhaps?
