OOC: This public library is aimed for your PC to acquire information IC. So if you are looking for information about something (for instance good archery techniques) then come in here with your PC and post, explaining what you would like information about. The difficult bit is this: you must take down notes here, in this thread, of what your PC has actually learned. And the amount of information your PC can take in is limited per day!
IC: Branching off from the main Abestatian thoroughfare, a wide road led downhill past many official looking buildings. The granite buildings on either side of the road were well set back, with small courtyards and gardens a common sight. About 500m down the road, on the right hand side, a circular building stood. The building, like the others, was made up of blocks of granite, but, unusually, was constructed in the shape of a large dome. The entrance was recessed slightly into the dome, and above the entrance hung a bright sign. It read, ‘Rein Lastra Memorial Library’.
The ornate pine door set in a frame large enough for even a ten foot giant to pass through was ajar. Inside, a channel had been made using wooden panelling and the issue desk. On the wooden panelling, various notices had been pinned up. On the ground, a box with small pins, sheets of parchment, a quill and a pot of ink could be found, where people could post up their own notices. Behind the solid oak issue desk an elderly human woman sat watching you, with a face wrinkled with age and narrow, suspicious eyes. She watched you as you looked around, but made no move to offer assistance, unless asked for.
Beyond the channel, the interior of the library could be appreciated. The shelves radiated from the centre, like the rays of the sun, filled with many books, parchments and even paper documents. A sign on top of each section indicated the topic of the shelf’s documents. Around the outside wall of the library more bookshelves were placed, creating a circle of bookshelves from the back of the notice boards to the issue desk. At the centre of the building stood an area filled with several tables and chairs, of various heights, to accommodate for anyone of any race. Above this sitting area, a massive metal framework hung in the air. The contraption was, in fact, a modern sculpture of Diana, the Queen of the Gods. Her metal frame wings stretched out from one bookshelf to its opposite counterpart, her face looking down on those sitting at the tables underneath, with a smile. The artist had made the metal shine – it dazzled from the sun’s rays falling onto it from a skylight above, creating an eerie but beautiful depiction of the young ancient Allerian warrioress that had defeated the dark Cyraxians in Telath’s needy hours
