Basic Cooking - Gabriella [Private]
The culinery classroom was handily situated right next to the healing quarters of the academy campus, allowing Gabby to go between one and the other with ease. Cooking was actually one of the academy's less requested courses, and as such they only employeed one teacher, and the kitchen was only big enough for one student at a time.
Entering the building would immediately surround the student with numerious amounts of cooking utensils, either hung suspended from the ceiling or thrust in the racks affixed to the walls. In the centre of the back wall stood a huge oven, with an even huger fireplace underneath it in order to heat it up properly for cooking. Lots of pots and pans were hung up on hooks around it. A big spice rack adorned one corner of the room and plenty of wooden work benches were lined up parallel to one another through the centre of the room. Various pieces of foodstuffs had been left of some of them.
Tura, being a halfling, had to use a footstool in order to be able to reach the surfaces in a decent manner. Her dark curls had been tied away in a black hairnet in order to keep them out the way whilst she was cooking. Most of her clothing seemed to be hidden by the huge linen apron she had swathed herself in. She was busy cutting up a few mushrooms in an intricate way, and did not notice the arrival of Gabriella into her kitchen.

Brightening 1 of Optia
Spring of Era I of the Celestine Mandate
Gabby had been on campus for two hours when the first sliver of sunlight cracked over the horizon. She was what one would call an "extreme" student - ironic considering she had never finished a course. It wasn't entirely her fault. One time she had become bed-ridden with a nasty fever. Another time the teacher had mysteriously vanished. Once, the school burnt down.
"Diana, I love you very much but could you maybe please let me finish this time?" said Gabby.
Perhaps Gabby would finish her courses by the end of the semester, but she certainly wouldn't start them on time. As Gabriella was Gabriella, she soon became distracted by the sunrise, caught up in watching the darkness absorb sunlight until it was midmorning and she was ten minutes late for class.
By the time she entered her classroom she was fifteen minutes behind, her red hair wound in tight knots around her head. Luckily Tura didn't seem to notice her arrival. Perhaps she wouldn't notice the time either.
"Hullo," said Gabriella cheerily, making her signature bizzarre pirouette curtsy of introduction. "I'm Gabriella."
OOC: Sorry if I'm bunnying or anything. I haven't been on Alleria for ages.

OOC; Serale, I will be your mod today.
"Oh, hello. You must be the student, Gabriella?" Tura said, steping down from the step ladder, "Well, of course you are! You just said so. Sily me. Well, I'm Tura, and will be teaching you how to cook without killing yourself. Hopefully."
She walked closer to Gabby, creening her neck in order to see her face.
"Well, girl, we best get started," Tura said, picking up a knife, "You...Ah, do know what this is, right?"

Gabby let out an inward sigh of relief - Tura didn't seem annoyed by her tardiness at all. She also seemed more than eager to begin the lesson, which agreed with Gabby. Teachers who cut (pun intended) to the heart of the matter were usually the best ones.
Gabby peered down at the knife and wondered whether it was a trick question.
"It's a knife," she said, but feeling her answer was too skimpy she added, "It cuts things."

"Good. At leasts you know what that is... Last student didn't know what it was, and ended up cutting off one of mah toes..." Tura said, grim faced as she recalled that hopeless student. Tura shifted a little, her right foot peeking out from underneath her apron. Sure enough, a toe was missing. Poor Tura.
"well, lets get on with it, then," she said, this time reaching for a pot, "Ok, this is a pot. Do you know what its used for?"
OOC: Sorry if this seems dumb, but its how I learnt to cook... So its the only way I know how to teach about it.
