OOC for Adventure Academy
OOC:
Post here if you have any questions, complaints, comments, or just want to thank Spock for coming up with the idea for a new subforum. Carter College is his idea, and he should be commended for it.
All training will be here from Feb 4th onward, be it self-taught or regular.
Those who aren't self-moderated and are waiting on a mod may post here if more than 3 or 4 days have passed without getting reply.
-- Legion
PS Credit for the writeup for the Carter areas goes to Spock as well.

Also, Is learning to duel wield longswords just an extension of longsword training, or do you have to learn from the ground up? I'd like to learn to duel wield my longswords but I'm wondering if my previous longsword training and experience carries over.

And, branching off from Kellos' question, is there a dual-wield of Bastard Sword-Broad Sword?
And good job Spock! Very, very well done!

I have a question. With this new self modding for training, ic that military training has gone away. With all due respect does that make sense? This new training method does not fit to replace it as you have to pay for it, unlike the military, and also it just plain does not seem to be military associated and logically a soldier would get trained by the military, not some private academy. Could some one clear this up for me? Am I confused, wrong, or do I at least have a semi point?

Kellos & Agaenos
The instructor will ask what training you have had. YOu can say basic broadsword. He would be glade put another sword in your hand, and do 15 posts on how to parry and strike with two sword instead of one.
Emjanss
Thanks. =)
Colin
Ok this thought does not really belong here. ONly because its a cross between a complaint and content in question. Since we do not want to spread negative things limit these types of questions to PMs to me. However, to answer it...no it is completely logical. As ROTC and various military classes are held at a community college I go to. Also military PC's will be taught by military members. The facilities that will be used in the new sector are better than the crammed base's. Also this also helps the mods. Truth of the matter we are not machines and most know that. Training threads in my case took 9/10th's of my moding time here in alleria. As you can see thats big time unfair to adventure threads, and administration. Having one centralized area is logical, and what works general better at this point in time.
Now I got many friends in the military Colin. They get very basic things, but have to buy everything themselves. If they want better things they got to buy it. IN the Abestat military your career, and survival chances rely on if you take it upon yourself to train. You have to realize this is not a militaristic city. However, many have joined dit military so we have opened options, and its up to you guys to build your abilities.
Also if your still in debate about this then remember its a GAME. If we made everything precisely real and like RL then that would take the fun out of the what if's. Main thing is that you got training options.

I did not think my question would be taken like this, and horray for the lack of tone, as damaging as ever.
There was no mention of the connection to the military and it seems this is quite a new idea, there was not a wealth of indepth info already here, not that I'd expect it, but that's why I thought asking this would help develop things better or at least brings things out in the open not mentioned.
To quote Legion in the beginning of this thread "Post here if you have any questions, complaints, comments, or just want to thank Spock for coming up with the idea for a new subforum."
I said yay to you, and then I wanted an aspect of this cleared up. It seems anytime I question anything people blow up at me like I am a raving nut. I said if i am wrong tell me, i mentioned maybe i'm just confused, I asked someone to clear it up for me, so you do not have to take offense because I never said it was not a good idea. I understand its need, I think it's a good idea, I just wanted one single aspect of it put to right in my mind. I am new, I'm just trying to understand, and thought posting it here would make it able to be discussed by others because I thought I might just have a valid point, but I guess not.
Also, I REALIZE it is not a militaristic city thank you, but being in the military I'd assume I'd be using what the military has to offer and has been offering. No exlplanation was given for a sudden change. I knew I'd get free training, part of the reason I joined, but now what I stepped into has changed to something else than I joined. I will deal with this and take the advantage the self modding does offer, but my point stays. So I say, ok, now my question is answered, and again, I will go on and do what I must to keep going. It was not a big deal to me or at all until your last post. To repeat, I was never criticizing your main idea but trying to make sure there was not something you overlooked.
If my questions in trying to understand will continue to be taken in offense, ask me to leave. Though I'd rather not just pick up and go, though with the amount of people that come here, I doubt anyone would regret my leave very long if at all.
I'd say why I post this here and not pm, but I fear I will accidently offend yet again.

OK, one LAST question. Heres the scenario.
Kellos comes to the academy after completing another quest, making him eligible for intermediate training in longsword. He asks instead to be taught to duel weild at intermediate leve. Can he do that, or does he need to start again?

OOC: I would ok that, but here is the case. You ussualy do not pick longswords to duel weild. You will be slow and open. Many of the older PC's in alleria who are duel wield picked short swords like the scimitar, and the other short swords. Its cool you change your mind its what ever you want. However, you wasted one RL month because of the change.

Good point. What if I wanted to duel wield my katana and longsword? Would I have to start at basic? And would being trained in Ambidexterity increase my speed in duel wield?
