AToI Kellos (Intiate Thaumaturgy)

Soon enough the elf made as many changes as he had to. Soon Kellos's profile was inserted the info, and had Kellos scehduled for lessons. Kellos had to wait in the waiting lobby for quit e some while, but a lovely women came out to greet him. She smiled "Serale, Kellos my name is Mithfeniel. They say you signed up for Thaum I intend to teach you it."

It was obvious Kellos had a good soul, and Mithfeniel had a good hunch about such things. However, she led Kellos out into the closes hill lands before the mountains. Mithfeniel had a browner color to her skin, and long dark hair. Her skin was quite flawless like most elves it seemed. Her lips a cherry plum red, and her eyes had a lovely lovely shape with her thin eyebrows reaching over her eyes as though gracing them with extra compliment to her eyes. her eyes were hazel, and her height about 5 feet and 6 inches.

She eventually turned around and asked a few questions Now now so why do you choose to learn Arcana, and also why Thaumaturgy?"

Kellos bowed courteously to his new mentor. "Serale, Methfeniel. I am honored to meet you."

As Methfeniel led him out to the hills he marvelled at how beautiful it was. On day like this, he felt like laying down and looking at the clouds.

"It's a beautiful day...." Kellos stated almost meditatively.
"Its a day that everyone should be able to enjoy, young and old."

He turned to Methfeniel, meeting her gaze. "This is why I want to learn Arcana, to be knowledgeable in the ways of Thaumaturgy. I want to save those who fight for Abestat, who fight so that the people can revel in these days, in freedom. I have been in war before, I have seen comrades that I have never known strewn across the field, blood caked upon their faces, their dead hands still gripping the sword that they swung to free their people, to save their families."

He looked up at the sky, and smiled.

"I know I fight, and I know that I kill. In the name of Aslan, I fight for my beliefs, and the beliefs of Abestat. I wish to use Thaumaturgy to protect and heal those around me. The ability to prevent ones journey to Jalat is far more powerful than the ability to hasten it."

[Spock]

Methfeniel smiled and nodded her head as she listened "sounds like a quaint goal to me. Then let you be a blessing to others than." She smiled and touched Kellos on the shoulder. Soon Kellos felt his vision bombarded by many colors of the richest kind. He also felt a bit dizzy with t he chills ru ning through out his body. Every living thing having a rich brightness form around it. Sound became richer for a moment.

Methfeniel then explained You are seeing the Ara around you wich is the natural Arcana in Telath. Also your being unbound your mind and body freed to practice Arcana." She then let Kellos enjoy the moment,a nd the affects wear off....

Kellos was about to ask a question, but Methfeniel laid her hand gently on his shoulder.

Suddenly everything was changed. Everything was more colorful, tenfold more bright and vibrant than anything he had ever seen. He tried to speak, but was mesmerized by what surrounded him. The grass was shining with emerald green, everything so colorful it was unreal. Every living thing around him was ablaze with color; every shadow seemed to have been eradicated by their brightness. He looked up into the sky, and even the birds he could spot looked like motes of shining white light.

He sensed his hearing changed as well. His hearing was greatly enhanced, and as his hearing was already greatly increased from his heritage, it seemed as if he was listening to the whole city. He could hear life going on all over the compound, drills, the marching, the patrols, even the hushed conversations of the compound guards, and he could even make out some noise from within the city itself, the chaotic business at the marketplace, the ringing of hammer to steel from the blacksmith. And nearby, he could hear his boots on the grass, the wind rustling through its blades, every creak of his armor, the chirping of the far off birds, and Methfeniel’s gentle breathing…

Am I dead? Kellos though, Am I in another world? Jalat?No, Methfeniel is beside me, I could not be dead. What is this?

He tried to move his lips into words of a question, but all he could manage was a soft “Beautiful…”

It is your Aura he Methfeniel say, The natural magic of Telath

The colors, or auras as he now knew, and his hearing returned to normal, the world as it was before Methfeniel had shown him.

“Auras” Kellos muttered, and then realized during that period of time he was able to see them, he had not once gave at Methfeniel.

“Methfeniel, if auras are the natural magic of Telath, and all living things are gifted with it, then are the auras of those who have mastery over them brighter than others? In comparison, yours to mine?”

[Spock]

Methfeniel blinked "No there is no "Aurua" surrounding a mage. You are just feeling the affects of your unbinding." Kellos felt his body return to normal in time, and the she began to explain "Vis is what the energies are inside you. The Ara is the arcanic energies outside you. You will use your Vis to connec to the Ara. This is done by focusing on your vis and making a mental connection with the ara. Once the connection is made you will will have to be careful how you use your Vis or you can such it clean and in turn kill you. "

She then let it sink in and continued "this connection or channel will lead to the connection to our plane which is the Celestial plane. We draw upon its energies to then shape the energies which are spells. In battle I would not use it as you fight per say since intiates take about 4-5 minutes to cast a spell. As you go up the ladder your casting time will decrease, and the power increase. You can also increase spell casting by practicing. "


She then stopped "does this make sense to you ?"

She then said in sudden remeberence ".here is a scroll that has the following words "May the fire from this bolt bring resolution to a conflict." read that and point at the being or thing you are wanting it to go and it will go that way. It is a avergae fire ball liek spell one time use though. The scroll will desenagrate afterwards. An offcial said your activity was so zealous they decided to award youw ith this.

OOC: Kellos please read the arcana guide in the arcana section on the home page of Alleria. Just in case I can not explain good enough also so you have a firm understanding. The scroll is yours Kellos, and fill free to sue it in any threa dyou may be in liek teh rebellion one. Its reward for your activity basically.

Kellos took the scroll in his hands, and smile.

"Thank you greatly, to you and the officer who designated this to me. I will put it to good use."

He carefully placed it in his pack, making sure to not damage the delicate scroll, and turned back to Melfeniel."

"So, how shoulkd I begin to train for thaumaturgy? I understand the concept of Vis and Ara now, somewhat."

[Spock]

Methfeniel then explained the first spell "A radiant burst of high intensity, pure white light overloads the sensory receptors of the target's eyes, making the opponent temporarily blind. The duration of the blindness is directly proportional to the intensity of the flash, which rises over time with experience."

She then continued "connect to your Vis and Ara then focus and begin to shape the spell to admit a burs t of pure light witht he energies of Celestial might." She then stood back waiting to see how Kellos would go about casting it...

[Kellos Vastak]

"Connect my Vis and Ara..." Kellos muttered

He extended his right arm into the sky, palm open pointing to the heavens, for no other reason that to not blind anything when the spell was cast.

Connect my Vis and Ara... Here goes nothing

Kellos closed his eyes and began. He envisioned his Vis, his own energies, to the surrounding Ara. He made the mental connection to his Vis, and saw his Vis slowly meld with the Ara, until the energies withing himself and around him were connected, one and the same.

Begin to shape the spell...

He pulled upon the energies around him, and tried to bring it to focus at one point in the palm of his hand, drawing in the light around him, honing it, compressing it, trying to bring it to the point in his hand. He wasn't sure if what was happening was real or just his imagination, but wither way, he wasn't going to stop.

He stopped pulling upon the enrgies of the Ara, and held the energies in the point on his hand still.

Hope this works was all he could think as he released the point of energy.

Kellos focused hard, and struggled with the first spell. This wa snot uncommon since it was the first time he was making such connections with the arcane energies. However, after many hours he was able to formulate celestel energies to admit a bright blast of light.

Methfeniel clapped and smiled "I knew that was rather hard, but as you learn and practice ti will get easier really. Now come with me there is a man who was blinded by a blast of light similar to yours. Luckily its temporary, but you can cure it quicker so he can move on."

Soon Kellos found himself out side an old out post of a sort. The man that was blind was there. He was a young man it seemed a soldier for Abestat. Methfeniel Ahhh Mr. Wright it is good to see you." the soldier nodded "you to" Methfeniel then looked at his eyes and motioned for Kellos to go into his arcane state and basically return his eyes to normal by stimulating the energies that hurt his eyes back to a normal sight so he could again see.

She then observed to see if Kellos could do so....

Kellos was glad that he had managed the spell, but was suprised to say the least at seeing how long it had taken him.

"I knew that was rather hard, but as you learn and practice ti will get easier really. Now come with me there is a man who was blinded by a blast of light similar to yours. Luckily its temporary, but you can cure it quicker so he can move on."

Kellos nodded, and on the way pondered how on earth he would do such a thing... Luckily, by the time they reached their destination, he had formulated to some extent a way to approach his next challenge.

Kneeling down so that Mr. Wright's head was level with his shoulder, and extended his hand fingers spread and palm open, to Mr. Wright's face, his hand level with his eyes.

He closed his eyes, and let himself slip back into the state he was in before, though it didn't not take as long as before since he already knew what to envision. Then, when he got to the point where he felt his Vis and Ara intertwine, their magics becoming one again, he tried to free Mr. Wright of his blindness.

He envisioned the brilliant Celestial light already present, covering both of Mr. Wrights eyes, like to brilliant torches. He slowly Spread out the light before his eyes, until the light was no more brilliant than that which was natural, both lights merging together once again. He slowly opened his eyes, and waited to see if Mr. Wright woul open his...

[Spock]

In time the mans eyes were freed from his temporary blindness. Soon enough Mr.s Wright thanked Kellos, and ran quickly to the base. Soon Methfeniel spoke "you see these spells are temporary in type meaning the heal temporary blindness. The next spell is the same,but in illness." She then led Kellos to a back room with another soldier suffering from a temporary illness. However, abestat needed all their men up and running especially in such dire times. Methfeniel then explained "Someone afflicted with a disease that has its origins in magic may be cured by the pure will of the Thaumaturgist, provided the spell was a temporary one. The success in curing the disease is inversely proportional to the proficiency of the caster that imbued the affliction."

She then pointed at the young man, so that kellos could begin to cure the man of his illness....

Kellos sucked in a breath, this was going to be more difficult. Unlike with mister Wright, he had had experience casting the spell with which the man was afflicted, but had no experience with illness. He followed Methfeniel, wondering how he would do such a thing correctly, and smiled slightly as he founf a practical solution.

As they reached the room with the afflicted soldier, Kellos got to one knee, and laid his open palm upon the soldier's chest.

He once again fell into the state of wholeness between his Vis and the Ara, until they were both once again one singular magic, and this time looked to the Soldier's Vis. He envision the surrounding energies, from bot Kellos' Vis, and from Ara, pouring into his Vis, the Arcana revitalizing and curing the illness. He pulled his hand back, and let his mind return to the room. What happened now, he would have to see...

[Spock]

Soon enough the spell took place, and the soldier began to sit up. He felt himself, and then felt his head "I thought I was cursed, but it seems it was some darn spell." The soldier felt a bit dizzy, but was well. Methfeniel smiled then went to one last soldier. Indeed, it seemed these men where subject to some magical attacks for sure. However, the next soldier was under some poison affects of a sort. Methfeniel then explained "A poisoning effect drawn from magic can be reversed by the will of the Thaumaturgist, provided the spell was temporary. The success in curing the poison is inversely proportional to the proficiency of the caster that imbued the affliction. Hmmm so give it a try and help this man out of his plight."

She then stepped aside and watched. She was glade that Kellos did not go into a spell combine the energies and then not focus and shape the spell. Indeed to many students died because of that mistake....

[Kellos Vastak]

Kellos listened well as Methfeniel explained the next soldier's situation. Though the case was different from the last soldier, he found that it was also slightly different. Both were victims of a malevolent spell, that is to say, one ment to do ill over good. He guessed now that for any such spell he would have to reverse the balance of the spell, so that it would be rendered useless and dissipate. Keeping that thought in mind, he bent down to complete his next task.

Once again he fell into the state of Clara, allowing his Vis and Ara to entangle their arcanic roots, and looked to the Soldier. He envisioned the presents of the poison spell as a sickly green color throughout the blood stream, and with his hand laid to his chest, began to call upon his skills. Once again, he allowed his and the Ara's combined energies to permeat the soldiers own, but this time different. It was similar, yet different, a poison was more specific, so he let the energies flow within the soldier's body, particularly his veins and arteries, allowing the energy to slowly overcome the afflicting presence, and dissapating to see the sickly color gone.

But only the soldier would know for sure...

[Spock]

Kellos began to feel his VIs drain to the lower levels, but saw the soldier slowly began to heal. The soldier was a bit weak from not eating, but wa s indeed heal and free from the foul poison affects. Methfeniel nodded with approval "Your doing nicely Kellos now come with me. As I am sure you feel a type of drain in your body. That is your Vis running low to put it in simple terms."


She then lead him to a quite hill, and then explained "I have explained the importance of focusing your spells, and forming them. You know of how to reach your mediative stat which is the stat of clara to cast your spell. However, you need to get to that state again. Some just simply say meditation. Doing this will help you reach a medative sat quicker, and help you to regenerate your vis. You do this by meditating and focusing on your Vis and welling it up in peace and freeness of mind. Now just breath in and out at a regular pace and clear your mind."


Methfeniel then sat a while letting Kellos learn...
