Yarrow (AToI Intiate Druidism)

The elf smiled an wrote down the information. He was very careful and every detail written nicely. After a few minutes he then closed her file, and stuck back in the filing cabinet. The elf then waved over a private who seemed to have the duty as the run around man, for the place. After he came he saluted the Elf then instructed " could you see if Jaden is available? If so tell him he has a new student." Without delay the private ran to fetch Jaden.

The elf smiled "jaden will be with you in a moment.' Like a on and off switch the Elf turned back to his work forgetting that Yarrow was even there. Soon enough a tall human man dressed in the military uniform wear, but worn much more loosely. It was the clothing of a forighener or rather an outsider. Much like a hired tactician or advisor. He wore a green robe, and carried a staff with a Falcon resting on the top of the staff. The Falcon seemed to not mind the staff moving to much as it balanced with each move it made. The staff covniently having a branch curving out to the right on top. Unique looking indeed after staring at it a while. In fact when looking closer it seemed the robe he wore was green not from fabric, but from some moss that grew upon it like some kind of CHia Pet.

The man was Jaden he stood 6'3 also slender, and had broad shoulders. His eyes were brown and his hair a very short black. He had facial hair that looked mostly like a Go-T. His complection was rather nice, and so was a smile that he carried. What was also unique was that out of the robe of moss, his staff from a tree of a sort, and his bird friend one thing did not match. His boots were a very expensive military boot it had a high traction sole, but very durable. It was black in color and the boot went up his leg like most tied tight with thick laces. Despite his obvious knack for nature everyone ha done thing about them that seemed out of place...his boots perhaps showing his support of the military...hmm maybe at some point he was military footman like Yarrow ???

Jaden with a rugged but oddly soothing deep voice greeted the corporal "My name is Jaden it seems your interested in the druids, yes ?

Yarrow smiled brightly, trying to look up from those boots, but she was sure this Jaden saw everything...or nearly everything. Yes, sir. I am Yarrow...Yarrow Woodruff. She told him quickly, trying to make every word count. My family grew up with nature names...like my own...and I've always had a keen liking for it so... She let that sentence stray.

The only soul she had really told about her past was her bunk mate, Keeva. Keeva had been the only one who knew much of anything about her past, unless they had been in it. She had just revealed something to this Jaden fellow that she hadn't even told Keeva. It wasn't like her past was some "deep, dark and mysterious" secret that no one should know...it was just that she hadn't ever trusted anyone to get this "close" to her.

She did have one secret that was more or less deep and dark...and perhaps a little mysterious. The women in her family were known to go crazy. Yarrow herself had seen the effects of this. She had told Keeva this. Keeva knew, but hadn't connected the fact that Yarrow herself might be a little "mad". She didn't know that Yarrow suffered from voices, perhaps she would never know...perhaps no one would.

Jaden brushed his hand along the falcons soft feathers, and smiled as he listened to Yarrow speak of her family. He then continued his smile "thats great I am sure your parents would be glad e to some extent that you will learn the ways of nature, and how carmelya works withing it." Jaden drew in a breathe and let it go easily as to gain patience, for learning arcana is tough...let alone trying to teach it. Jaden the turned around and walked outside "come with me Yarrow we have much to learn."

Jaden was quiet as he lead her out of the base, and into the forests outside Abestat. The only thing making noise was the stern steps of his boots, and the bold hit of his staff upon the ground. There was a slight breeze gracing the lands. Then after well enough in the forests he turned around. He then nodded his head "Tree, weeds, gras all of it Carmelya has reason for. It is all interconnected underneath us with much energy. Power and resourcefulness enough it to boggle the mind. In time you will come in touch with it all. "

Jaden then touched Yarrow on the shoulder grabbing it as though close friend would. However, Yarrow began to feel dizzy, and sick to the stomach. However, it was strange she was not dizzy nor sick to the stomach. It was nearly the body trying to determine something mostly strange. The tree began to brighten, and Jaden had what seemed an aura around him. Yarrow could see pretty strands of various colors. Without knowing it Yarrow was in a daze as her senses marveled in the feeling of being unbound.

Jaden let go and then continued brushing his hand lightly on the Falcons feathers. He smiled knowing the faces of many people he has unbound letting Yarrow marvel in it for a while. After a few minutes passed "your unbound now...your senses now open to the wonderful Arcana flow. the crazy sensation you feel now is your own Vis swimming around in you. Fascinating is not? "

Jaden said laughing at the same time lightly letting Yarrow get a grip first.....

Dizzy...so very dizzy...her senses seemed to clear a little bit...fragments of different colors...the grass...stringing together..."Tree, weeds, gras all of it Carmelya has reason for. It is all interconnected underneath us with much energy. Power and resourcefulness enough it to boggle the mind. In time you will come in touch with it all. " His words hit home slowly...she absorbed them, holding them for what they were worth and then she was breathing again...more words were coming forth.

I am unbound now... She thought slowly. She took in this feeling. It was a different feeling...a feeling she had never felt before, and what was more...she liked it. It is fascinating, sir. I...I can not describe it any other way...utterly knew and yet...so old at the same time... Her eyes clouded over...

....Bonsai was somewhere near her. He had a satisfied smile on his face as he described to their mother why he spent so much time outside....

Her eyes refocused and she let out a peacful sigh. This wasn't the first time her past had surfaced around her. She smiled, fond memories...how she loved them...Can not describe it any other way then that. She did not dare shake her head, in fear that these feelings would vanish, but she didn't think she would have fear of that.

How do I get undone by myself, master? She asked.

Jaden smiled "Ahh yes this is not a spell so to speak. I basically connected you to Arcana. You were once bound now you are set free to work in Arcana so to speak." Jaden said nothing more it was something that all new students must have done to them before learning the arts.

Jaden let his words seep in, and then he continued "If you have no further question let us now move to learn the first of many key spells, yes ?" He then waite for the asnwer, but also asked a second question "so ever wonder what it would be like to have skin made of bark ?" Jaden brushed the tree with his hand, and in a matter of seconds his skin became brown and as hard as bark. He nearly looked like a make shift tree. Tapping his skin he asked again "ever wonder ?"

I have no other questions at this time, sir. Thank you. The second question took her a little by surprise. She blinked, searching her past for a moment. When I was younger, sir...I dreamt of becoming a tree, but I don't think I have ever thought of just the bark of a tree... When others had run off to play tag or play wrestle with each other, she could remember going off to be alone. Once she was alone she would close her eyes and picture herself like a tree...roots in the ground...yummy water to extract from the soil...yes...she remembered it all vividly now...

Jaden brushed his hand along his skin "nice imagination for sure." Jaden smiled and then continued "now, see my skin? It is now bark this spell is used for more defense against superficial wounds. It is not like rock or steel skin spell, but will help you take more of a beating when things get tough. I am sure you can see its need in war."

Jaden then explained how to go about it all "you see inside of us all we have whats called Vis. This is the Arcana flow inside us as a living soul. If you run out completely you die. So be sure to never exhaust yourself to death. YOu can however recharge Vis as veery mage spends it. "

Jaden then explained further "that covers Vis and Clara or for short Ara is the natural Arcana outside your body. It is the natural Arcana that surrounds us all."

Jaden then finally explained how to use it "use your Vis inside to connect with the Ara outside. Then use the Ara to channel the spell so to speak. As practice touch the tree next to you. use your vis to connect with Ara and then channel the arcana flow to the tree...connect with the tree's Vis. Now do suck the Vis form the tree or any living been or you will kill it. Just connect and get the feel for the bark then let the property feel into your skin. Your body will not need to touch a tree every time you do this spell, but for the firs t time you nee d to get the feel. Then natural through Arcana your skin will harden like that of bark."

Jaden knew this wa sa lot to take in, and therefore asked before she began "if you have questions let me know, and take your time and focus we are in no rush here." He then sat on a tree log, and rested with his pretty Falcon, and petted him as he watched Yarrow.

Yarrow nodded in time to his speech every so often as she took in all that he was saying. It was a lot to take in, but she enjoyed this...so...No questions yet, sir. She told him as he stopped. She smiled and watched him for a moment as he sat down to watch her work...then she looked for the nearest tree.

Her hand brushed up against a rough piece of bark...her hand tingled a little...she closed her eyes.

"use your Vis inside to connect with the Ara outside. Then use the Ara to channel the spell so to speak. As practice touch the tree next to you. use your vis to connect with Ara and then channel the arcana flow to the tree...connect with the tree's Vis."

She took in a deep breath and let it out. Her Vis inside of her was easy to find...she took another breath and slowly "connected" with the Ara...she was doing this slowly...she didn't want to harm the tree her hand was touching...she only wanted to feel the bark on her hand...get to know it...feel it's warmth below her hands and...she channeled the "arcana" somehow...she felt how she did this and put it away for the future...she directed her full attention to the tree, but slowly...she didn't want to suck out the tree's life....

Yarrow struggled at first it was much harder than expected. She shook jus trying to keep the balance secure as she worked the arcana. The vis was shaky, but she made the connection necessary to draw mana form the druidic plane to forge the spell she sought. One minute went buy then an hour. It was hard, but Jaden knew she would find her own way eventually.

Slowly, but surely yarrow was able to fill the tree's Vis knowing now how and what to feel. Like a quick prick or shock to the finger she felt the connection and the mana course through. her skin began to tingle not in pain, but a strange sensation. At first it was only in her hand, but then spread through out her body.

Then suddenly her skin hardened she felt her movement not as the same, but her skin took the form of bark. Jaden then smiled "two hours is not to bad at all. Nice skin hehehe, but I would not use it to win a beauty contest." Jaden gave a light hearted laugh "the skin effect will fade away in time. As you get more advanced you can make stay longer if you wish. So how do you feel ?"

OOC: It's ok if you make up your own weird feeling of it in response to Jaden. Just how do you think your Pc or yourself feel having bark skin heh =)

Yarrow opened her eyes. It had been something of a shock to see her skin as tree bark. What in the... A smile boarded on to her face. Just to test it out she brought a fist to her skin and gave it a little tap. Sure enough...it was hard enough to be...

Wow! She managed to say finally. Then a chuckle as she moved. The bark felt...interesting...to say the least. I've...I've never felt this way before. She said truthfully. She laughed, feeling her sides heave up and down as she did so. It is interesting... She couldn't describe it, so she decided to stop trying. Instead she just stood there, watching it as it moved in and out with each breath...with each laughter she took.

I like this. She finally said, nodding her head. I like this a lot...

Yarrow felt her skin grow heavy as the spell settled fully in her movement being strick to horizontal and vertical movements at all. Indeed it took away mobility to an extent, but here much more durable. Perhaps in close quarters combat it would be fine. Jaden smiled as he saw playing with her new found skin "the spell will wear off eventually, and then your skin will return back to the way it was."

Jaden then though for a second "ah yes that would be a good one." As he though out loud to himself, and letting Yarrow rest as the first spell was quite tiring. Jaden the grinned and sat back "so ever have any animal friends ? You know a cat or dog that would do some of what you say or nothing at all ?" Jaden then waited for a response as he gazed at the trees above in thought...

OOC: Ok learned spells you can use in threads after this one. So using Ft basically, so in your profile show the one you have learned until completed fully the art then you can say you are a druid initiate.

ic: Yarrow nodded her head violently as if her head would fall off her shoulders. I love animals. I have a dog named Bloom and a Sparrow named Ann. They are just lovely pets... Her voice faded a little bit and a dreamy smile was then spread willingly across her face. She simply loved animals.

As a child, Yarrow had never had any animals. She was either too young or they were too poor to be able to get a pet. When her father had the accident they couldn't avoid anything, but dead meat. However, once she was out on her own and could afford things, she got Bloom and soon after Ann.

The two of them were a pair. Just thinking about them made her feel like a mother, talking about her lovely children who were now sitting at home by the fire, knitting a scarf or sock...or something of that nature.

Jaden smiled "then you will like the new spell very much. Often times animals get scared or maybe you cross an animal that may fear you. They often attack or create a tense situation. Such as enemy guard dogs be charmed by you to leave you alone. There are millions of circumstance's to speak of..."

Jaden then continued and till being interrupted by a bear. It seemed it was quite angry that the two where near her small area. Indeed they were as intruders, but what seemed weird is that the bear ignored Jaden and started to run a t Yarrow. It would charge and then stop trying to scare yarrow off. Jaden then grew a stoic expression "better befriend her before she takes a bite out of you"

Jaden then forgot about the instruction "use your vis again to connect to the natural Ara. Then draw the mana from the druidic plane to call upon the spirits of warmth and reassurance. This will comfort the bear also known as "befriend animal"

Jaden leaned back and gaze at yarrow and the bear seeing if yarrow would be able to "I often ask carmelya as I cast the spell for the spirit s to come to that. Figure it would not hurt sense she is behind this whole nature business."

Yarrow's eyes widened as she saw the Bear coming at her, but there was no time to panic. She had to do this in less time then her little bark trick. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes once more. She was searching once more inside of her.

She took another deep breath and searched out what he had called the mana. She looked for the mana from the druidic plane and once she had found it she would use it to call forth the spirits of warmth and reassurance in order to calm the bear down.

If she couldn't do this in time.... She shoved that thought deeper into her. She reassured herself that no harm would come to her and she sought after the mana....

Jaden's mood changed as he gazed at the anxiety being built form the situation. Yarrow indeed had a easier time connecting to the Druidic plane, and so on. The Bear started to shake it's head as though something was fiddling with its mind. However, it seemed yarrow was able to project good intentions, and fiddle with the bears emotions & mind enough to make hesitate. It took quite a bit of Vis, but it was finished the bear tackled Yarrow and before clawing her change dits heart and oddly enough licked her with its smelly and slobbery tounge before running of into the wild. The animal seemed to be befriended.

Jaden smiled and gave a hearty laugh "interesting result indeed. It is also good to remember to think good thoughts and wish them upon the animal in question."

Yarrow's Vis was fairly trained, for it took much to do the first spells. It was the usual case for new Druids. Jaden could see the tiredness set in "Well corporal Yarrow I think we will stop for today and move to meditate. You must know how to do this so that your Vis recharges. Always remember if you drain your Vis completely you will die. So do not do it when you have exhausted your Vis then stop...simple really. Your Vis reserves and effciently will increase as you practice the art and gain skill. However, meditating is the regular state of breathing in and out in a controlled manner. Close your eyes and focus on your remaining Vis welling i tup, and building it back up. How about you give it a try now."

OOC: I will let it slide this time, but you need to sate the steps of using your vis and Ara when using a spell. Only for your sake, for different mods are sticklers on that. Also if you reach apprentice level druidism expect me to want more from you on the posting. This won't be a thread you can just sit and learn spells then go your marry way. This same encouragment and heads up was given to my Pc, so I think you get what I am saying....
