Broadsword Training~Vincent Stefan

OOC: Vincent I will be taking this thread for you.

A tall Moriquendi stood alone. Her feet seperated and her hands behind her back in an 'at-ease' type position. Her long black hair was floating lightly to her left hand side, and her eyes shone dark green in the light. At her side was a broadsword, with the tip stuck into the grass so that it stood tall and straight, much like the dark-elf. The sky above was clear and blue.It seemed like a good day to start any sort of training, except for the slight chilly wind that swept in from the east. All she needed now was the student that she eagerly awaited to begin his Training.

Vincent walked onto the field. His pet raven perched on his shoulder. Vincent was not one to keep anyone waiting, so when he was told about his training, Vincent sprinted to the field. Now here he stood staring back at his trainer. Breathing in ounce he walked forward until he reached his instructor. With a full military solute, Vincent introduced himself, then went silent, and waited for the instructor to respond.

The Moriquendi smiled at Vincents salute, and this was because he was pleased. He paced back and forth a few times, looking around, at nothing really, building up tesnion before he would speak. " Now, today, you are going to be taught how to fight,and defend yourself using your broadsword. But I am also going to give you some advice about going into battle. " He stared into Vincents eyes. Vincent was confused at first and was not sure what to expect.

But before he could even ask a question, the Sergeant began to address him again, " Now in the heat of battle, you will want to be a Hero. Unfortunately, a large number of troops die in this way. I do not advise charging into a battle, screaming and shouting at your enemies. There is no doubt that some will. You will feel the adrenaline pumping through your veins, and you will get blood-lust. But it is essential that you stay calm. So Rule One: Keep yourslef calm at all times, or you willfind an arrow or a sword in your gut quite quickly. You here me? What is my first rule? Hmm? Answer quickly! "

Even before Vincent realized what he was saying he answered the instructorâ€™s question: â€œKeep calm at all times.â€ Now he waited to find out if the answer was right and to see what question or action would come next.

He smiled, and was pleased with his pupils will to learn. He began to pace again, putting Vincent slightly on the edge. " Well done private, " he replied dimly. " Right well that will be all the lecturing I will give you for now. Now lets review how to hold a Broadsword, " as he said he said this he withdrew the sword that was in the ground. He pulled it out with such ease and strength. " Now as you probably know already, because you can't really be that stupid but it is standard that I tell you all information needed, you hold a broadsword with both of your hands. " as he said this he held the heavy piece of metal at his chest. Hehad his left hand holding the lower part of the sword, and his right holding the top. " Okay can you do that for me? Oh and I not starting you on practice weaponry, if you want to learn you might as well doit the hard way! " he smiled as he waited for the private to mimick his move.

Vincent wasted no time in removing his sword from the sheath on his back. But before mimicking the instructors moves he instructed Shadow the raven to fly over to the ground about ten feet away. Vincent needed no additional distractions. Now with his sword in his hand Vincent attempted to mimic the instructorâ€™s hand positions on the hilt of the sword. This was harder than he thought. The weapon was a lot heavier than he remembered it. Then again it was a long time since he last held the weapon for any reason. Finally he placed his hands in what he thought was the right hold. Finished he waited to find out if he was correct in his thinking.

" Hmm, " he hummed, just to add a little tension. Most types of elves had a way of doing that sort of thing. He walked around the light elf, inspecting all angles of how the sword was being held, while holding his own blade himslef in the same position, " Yes that is quite good, very good actually, you'll make a good swordsman one day. " he stopped directly in frontof Vincent smiling a little. He swung his sword a few times toget the feel of it before demonstrating his next move.

" Well the next most important thing is your feet. Right, now put your feet into this position, your left foot forward and you right foot slightly behind. Bend your knees.And hold your sword in an up-right position on your right hand side, " as he said this he did exactly what he had just said, his legs were spread apart slightly with his left in front of his right, and the blade in a completely up-right position, " Right? Got It? Well I want you to try. This is just a basic stance. A kind of neutral stance if you would like. "

Vincent immediately took the stance indicated, it was a bit disorienting but usable. Replacing his hands on the hilt of his sword, Vincent went into a full ready position. His one good eye not covered by a patch, was keenly following his instructor’s movements. Even if this was training, Vincent was not going to be caught off guard.

He looked on and smiled. " Thats very good, " he dropped his sword onto the ground. He walked over to a small wooden box. Vincent followed as was gestured. In the box was padded armour. He took it out and threw it at Vincent. " Put this on. If you want to keep your limbs and....delicate bits, "he said chuckling.

" Now put your sword down, " he pulled a normal broadsword out of the box. It was blunted though. " Here take this too. Its just blunted so there isno weight difference. " Now using that stance, defend a few attacks from me, the way you think it should be done. But put on your armour first. "

The armour was good and strong. It covered Vincents torso, and down to his kmees and elbows. It also protected his neck, and pelvis area.

Vincent drove his sword into the earth as was pre-instructed. The sword final resting-place was only a few inches from were shadow the raven was standing. With a quick flap of his wings the raven found a new perch on the broadsword.
With his sword now logged in the dirt Vincent went about removing all other non-essential cloths. first was the swords sheath, followed by the black cloak Vincent always wore and finally, Vincent removed the bag of seed he had fastened to his belt.
Now Vincent was fully ready, walking over to the instructor he took the armor and pout it on. Then he made a few practice swipes with the blunted sword. It was decent with almost no difference to his personal sword at all.
With all preparations done. Vincent went into the stance he was taught and placed his hands on the sword hilt in the places he was taught. With one glance at his look right now Vincent was shore he was as ready as he ever would be. With a quick nod he informed the instructor he was ready to begin.

Now that Vincent was ready, the next phase began. " Alright, you've got the drift of most stances. Now swing the sword just up to your shoulder, then slightly behind it then take a swing, " he demonstated exactly what it was he had just spoken. All that was different was that the arms and sword were different. He lifted up a suit of dented armour, filled with straw, with straw legs, arms and head.

" I want you to use this offensive stance to strike this dummy, " he said this in a serious tone, but he knew he would enjoy the first timers swing. He leant on his sword and awaited for the show to begin.

Vincent took his stance in front of the dummy. Following the instructor’s lesson, Vincent did a couple of practice swipes using the swing he was told. Then he advanced on the dummy. Taking a deep breath, he charged forward and swung his sword.

Vicents strike was quite hard, but only about half the sword actually hit the dummy. He was disapointed. The run up to the swing had been practically perfect. He looked at the dummy, and it still had a good sized dent in it, much bigger than that of any other detn around it. " Take a few more swings like that, you'll get the hang of it.

Vincent was, devastated, he missed. Shore the sword did hit the dummy, but only with a glancing blow. Frustrated he again stepped back and did a couple practice swings. Satisfied he walked over to the dummy, found the right stance and let another swing fly.

This strike hit home, the whole of the blade bounced off of the dummy with such a force that the dummy went slying into the air, only to fall onto the green grass with a sickening thud. He was completely impressed, and his faith in this Vincent character was restored. " Be proud that was an extremely good hit. " he smiled.

Now was a time for great testing and endurance. " I want you now to defend a simple attack from me now ok. But I will tell you the footing first. put your right foot side on behind you to give you your balance. Now have your left pointing forward. Don't forget to bend your knees a little, " he lifted the sword and swung it a few times. " Tell me when your ready. "
