[Siona] – Testing the New Recruit (KoAS Members; Octavius)

The leader of the Knights of the Argent Sword and the Lord of Siona had been away for some time now on a personal mission, or so it had been described to those whom asked; he had in actual fact been seeking the rod for his Stave and he had also taken time to visit Alleria Prime. He was back, for how long was unsure, however that meant little when presented with the news that there was a new Squire within the Knighthood. What made it more interesting was that the Squire was Milaron's; the dwarf, whilst an excellent knight, had not volunteered himself to taking on a squire and this fellow would be the first. Thus his interest sparked, and his duty as leader of the Knighthood, compelled him to make a visit and introduce himself to the young man. Though this particular brightening the Knight Champion was interested in a little more action than just introductions, he wanted to see what the squire was made of and there was only one way for him to do that.

He had heard from the other Knights that the Squire was on the training field practicing with his longsword, a weapon that Raliric was familiar with, but not one he favoured; his weapon of choice rested upon his shoulder and was held with one hand... for the moment. He moved out behind the Barrack's building and began to skirt the training field, making out that he was just like every other knight and was one a stroll. The Squire would not have met every Knight thus far and would simply assume him to be one of the many that walked the compound; a new face perhaps, but not necessarily the Leader of the Knighthood. To give this impression more weight he only wore his trousers, boots, belt, bracers and the braided leather cord that tied his hair together and kept it behind his head. The form he had assumed for this meeting was his original, his Dracon form; it did stand out, but no more than any of the other Diantar's that roamed the compound. He stood at the height of 7'3", bound, long black hair fell behind well built, black scaled shoulders. Its length, although curly, reached just below his shoulder blades and was held tightly in check by a braided leather cord. Icy, dark and cavernous orbs watch from the sockets of the black scaled, dragon like, rectangular face. Hard, rough, angular jaw set in a semi-permanent expression of emotionless, whilst also holding a frighteningly powerful visage. An aura of confidence and power surrounds this spawn of a cryaxian and dragon blood. His build; muscular, but not bulky, one might say ‘proportioned’.

He had informed a few of the Knights whom he spent most of his time with of what he had planned for the brightening and because they each wished to witness the event they had planned their own reasons for being on, around or within sight of the training field. Barthanes had been asked specifically to be there in case of injuries and thus the Dracon Templar had come out that brightening to sit in the light of the suns and meditate. The other knights were either practicing their own weapons, chatting, polishing or sharpening their weapons, or in some cases, simply standing around and watching. The general atmosphere was like every other brightening, weapon clashes (both wooden and steel), chatter, village sounds and nature calls.

Thus Octavius was none the wiser when Raliric, having come up behind the new recruit, turned around and pretended to trip over a rock. He stumbled backward trying to regain his footing before he bumped into the new recruit, sending them both sprawling to the ground; though for the sake of not crushing the Squire, Raliric rolled quickly to his feet with a curse and grunted at the Squire. ”Oi! Watch where you are goin' squire! I nearly broke me neck on your clumsy feet.” The incident had turned a few heads, but nothing overly attention drawing had happened yet and thus they resumed what they were doing with only a glance or two... or at least they did for now.

Andrec stood in a corner of the training field, by himself, going through drills with his longsword. He was stabbing, slahsing and blocking in random combos, just trying to get his arm more accustomed to the weight of his weapon. As much as he didn't like to admit it, he hadn't had much practice with the weapon, and his arm muscles still burned when holding it for too long.

After almost 10 miuntes of non-stop swinging, he decided to take a quick break. He sheathed his weapon and walked towards the center of the field to watch other's practicing. He almost laughed when he saw a large Dracon (then again, they were all large) knock over a squire Andrec had never seen before. He smothered the laugh, however, and disguised it as a cough. He didn't want to look foolish in front of the other knights. Funny...he had been in the Knighthood for months, and yet he still felt a bit akward amongst them.
