Not far from the center of Siona and situated next to the Knight's Compound, was the Drunken Wizard; a tavern that not only appealed to the citizens for its standard of beverages, food and lodgings, but also for its entertainment. The Inn and Tavern’s outward appearance was that of most of the Taverns within the Empire; it was made from the solid grey granite of the close by Great Mountains and was five stories tall with a further two levels underground. A large sign was fixed to the wall beside the tall oaken door which read in flowing cursive:
Quote:

The Drunken Wizard.
Inn, Tavern and Arena
|
Under these words was a picture of a comically drawn robed man with long white hair, who was stumbling out of the open door of the tavern and near him there was a man lying upon the pavement with a black eye.
Three words carved into the door were from the sign,
The Drunken Wizard and on a notice pinned under these words was more cursive which read:
The Drunken Wizard is open ten brightenings a cycle between the tenth and twenty-ninth candlemarks. All are Welcome! During these hours the large door was unlocked and had well oiled hinges, allowing for it to be easily pushed and swing open, as well as swinging back to shut. The inside of the establishment was where this particular Inn and Tavern was considerably different to any other in the empire. The first room a patron entered was that of an anti-chamber of sorts, a place where two guards were on hand to remove all weaponry and store it those items in a room to the left. There was also a reception desk here where one could apply for lodging for the night, or enquire about anything else with regards to the establishment like the booking of the private function rooms.
Continuing forward the patron would emerge from the building into an open air courtyard of sorts. Here there was a covered walkway around the circumference whilst, via two steps downward, the customer moved into a beer garden of sorts. At the center of this beer garden was another feature of this place that set it a part from all the rest; The Arena. The arena was a floor down in the establishment and was roughly twenty feet square, not including the sloped sides that rose upward and outward a further three feet; it was all made of stone with a wood covering which was then covered once more by a layer of inch thick sand for added grip. On two of the sloped sides there were stairs that led out of the arena and onto the second lower floor. The hole in the beer garden floor that allowed patrons to watch the fights going on below had a railing built in for safety, as well as a secure metal grating that allowed none to enter the arena from above. The rest of the beer garden consisted of various placements of chairs and tables for patrons to sit at and eat or drink.
The Tavern’s floor was a darkly stained wood that seemed more so when in contrast to the tables, chairs, stools and the bar, all of which was a lighter shade of stained wood. It was a large beer garden, filled with tables, most of which sat six people at each; another twelve people were able to sit at the stools at the main bar. There were other tables throughout the beer garden that were for smaller parties and consisted of a range from two to four chairs. Each table had a candle and candleholder at its centre. The main bar serviced the beer garden, as well as the common room which was the next room accessible through an archway, which meant that it supplies the drinks and food.
The common room was furnished the same as the beer garden with darkly stained floors and lightly stained tables, chairs, stools and bar. There were more tables here than in the beer garden and they were strategically placed to allow efficient service by the waitresses and bar maids. Moving easily around the chairs and tables were four people; two of them were young women who held darkly stained wooden trays. These two women saw to the patrons seated at the tables; taking orders, clearing dishes and mugs, and serving the customers their orders. The other two who moved around were the guards, both thickly set and lightly armoured, ever vigilant for anyone who should cause trouble for the waitresses or start anything that would be considered hostile. These two were champions of the arena and ready to deal with any trouble makers with necessary force in each separate case; in some cases that meant a firm hand on the shoulder and being shown the door; in other cases it meant a sharp jab to the nose or even a broken rib or two, and then to be thrown out the door. The larger of the two guards even appeared to have more then a little giant blood in him.
Behind the main bar worked a man who appeared to be in his early forties, thick set, but not as much so as the guards; this man was the bartender. He served those at the bar drinks and food and took their orders; also in his spare time he cleaned the mugs and plates of those who had eaten at the bar. Behind the tender and perhaps two feet above his head there was a menu with a variety of information about the Tavern.

The waitresses cleaned tables, removed dirty plates and mugs, and waited to take orders as they moved around the tables and chairs. The oil lanterns attached to the walls of the tavern gave off more then enough light for those farthest away from the arena to still be able to see the fight and the warmth of the hearth, which was located to the left side of the bar, would warm weary and chilled bones during winters. There was a door at the right side of the bar which led back into the kitchen.
The establishment was currently understaffed due to the city of Siona only just opening. As the staffing of the establishment increases more will be open to patrons.
