The archives were situated just north of the Eladrin Memorial park behind a four foot high marble wall that was broken in four places for doorless entries. On the other side of the archives were large lawns that were in a sorry state of upkeep from first glance, the grass was a foot or more high in certain places. Weeds sprouted in great clumps and bushes and flowers sprung up in a chaotic symphony of color and smell. To those that knew the keepers of the archives they would know that this was the way they intended it to be, controlled chaos in an homage to the way nature grew beyond the borders of the city.
The Archives themselves was comprised of three separate buildings made of wood and sandstone hauled in from the southern deserts. The base of the buildings crafted of the giant tawny colored stone and the roofs made of giant trunks from fallen trees. The tree trunks given shape by the Elvish Woodshapers to curve upwards to provide a central peek along the midsection of the three roves. At the head of each center roof line was a statue of an elderly man, who looked elvish yet he had a short wispy beard, that held a large tome open in his hands and seemed to be reading from it.
The doors to each building were crafted from the same sandstone blocks yet they each had a picture of a crescent moon placed within a full sun engraved on them. The picture was split down the middle with the opening of the giant doors from rope entwined with metal that were tied onto large door rings that were pulled open during the day and shut at night. At all three entrances four members of the Paladives en i' Yaraa were stationed as an honor guard for the monks that dwelled within.
Within the main building were two levels full of giant bookcases that were filled to near bursting by thousands if not a million or more books. Simple books that were bound with string to great tomes covered in gold and silver filigree. Books containing the rise and fall of the various kingdoms and empires could be found within the dusty hallways of the archives. The monks of the archive were said to hold on to books outlawed by the Church of Faith and the Empire itself, but none could say for sure without going through the uncountable books. Towards the back of the building were set out five tables that could seat twenty people comfortably alongside the monks that were there to aid.
The other two smaller single leveled buildings belonged to the monks themselves. The building to the back right of the archive was were the fifty monks slept, ate and bathed whenever time permitted. Within this building were also many stacks of paper and books that the monks were intent on either making a new copy of or translating into another language.
The building to the back left of the archive belonged to the leader of the silent order, within the building he kept his private office. It was were those books that were found that were of immeasurable value were stored for safety reasons.
