[OOC] Housekeeping Matters and a Preview of Things To Come
Salutations, Syl'rosians!
I'm your new mod for Syl'rosia, Lachesis. I am fully aware that I have large shoes (each worn successively larger by Leafsong, Dream and Ragman) to fill and this humongous task is made even more arduous by the fact that I've not moderated in any capacity before. I will want your help, co-operation and feedback so that we can do best what we are here to do; that is, have fun. To that end, I'd like to explain some changes in Syl'rosia's moderating system that is largely personal to my circumstance and moderating philosophy.
I took up this job as a Special Opportunity mod. That is, I will dedicate my time and posts to a select group of players concentrating on city plotlines (as opposed to province or Empire wide plotlines) and personal character development. This is due in part to time constraints on my part as a final year law student which precludes me from being able to mod and coordinate large and expansive plots but also because I believe in tightly woven plotlines that contribute to a strong and coherent overall story. Therefore, instead of producing a mediocre roleplaying experience for many, I would concentrate on producing an intensely enjoyable roleplaying experience for a few.
Frankly, some of Syl'rosia's previous moderators and writers have had sheer genius flowing through their veins. But of course, one genius' vision doesn't necessarily correspond to another's and the resultant Syl'rosia does feel a little disjointed at times. City-wise, I will seek to merge many separate visions of Syl'rosia into one consistent and coherent whole. Towards this end, I hope for your understanding that I will exercise a tight control over all peer-moderated plots and threads within Syl'rosia itself in order to achieve this vision.
Well, now that I have broadly laid out my aims and objectives (heh...I sound like a corporate Powerpoint presentation...) let me tell you what I'd like the players of Syl'rosia to do.
- Players who are interested in roleplaying in the upcoming Syl'rosia should send me a PM detailing their past activities in Syl'rosia, local political affiliations, powers and abilities and any other details you think relevant. And yes, you should be expecting me to read up on your previous posts too. Non-elves are welcome to join as well but be warned that priority for elven characters will come first for the initial stages. Currently, I've not fixed a number of players that I intend to involve in my plotlines but ideally, it should probably be 5 or less. Please be sure of your commitment as I will close the city to new players once I am satisfied I have sufficient players for the plotlines and I have started posting ICly; you'd be wasting a valuable slot, my time and posts and creating all sorts of continuity problems if you should decide to quit half way.
- Subject to Fox's approval, if you'd like to run a new character with a background in Syl'rosian's houses, this would be a great time. If anyone is so interested, he can work out with me the details and background of such a PC before he runs it for approval through the usual channels.
- As a kind request, I'd like players involved in peer-moderated threads in Syl'rosia to PM me with the planned content and nature of their thread. Future peer-moderated threads should be run past me for prior approval.
Thanks. I hope to be posting a few Prelude posts to set the background for the storylines within the week so stay tuned.

Tentatively, I have the following players who are interested in participating in the closed storylines of Syl'rosia;
- Alicia Gil'dae
- Calairiel Mynendil Gil'dae
- Nimavel Mynendil
- Quenthalus
Except for Cala whom I've not quite confirmed in person with yet...all good. I should shortly be prepared to invite PC involvement in upcoming events. Before that happens, I'd like each PC to discuss and flesh out their House/Clan/Family for my info in this thread so that I can more closely adhere to the culture and histories of your respective familial organization and see if I can turn up anything to further flesh out your Houses.

House Mynendil, twenty-fifth House of the Syl’rosian Combine, has an intimate and extensive history with House Luviel. Adamant supporters of the Second Elder Family, House Mynendil served as Luviel’s eyes and ears in the shadows of the city and the province alike for generations. As an elite family of clandestine spies and assassins, House Mynendil has been funded directly by House Luviel since its ennoblement to a ‘House’ status (whenever that was), and it continues to support the Luviels by providing them with various types of underhanded support (i.e. assassinations, information gathering, etc.)
Ly’sarion Mynendil, the previous patriarch of House Mynendil, is the father of Nimavel Mynendil. Once a proud and confident leader, Ly’sarion was reduced to a solemn and despondent state in the wake of his wife’s demise after the Vysstichi invasion of Silrosia. Hurled into a fit of eternal sorrow, Ly’sarion became generally unstable and volatile. Subsequently, Nimavel was sent to live with Ly’sarion’s brother, Nilmalas Mynendil, in Daltina where he was raised and trained to succeed in his father’s footsteps ( see here). Meanwhile, Xara’vin Mynendil, Nimavel’s sister, was left in Silrosia with Ly’sarion where she was brutally treated by her father. Despite Xara’vin’s transformation into a highly trained and precarious assassin, she nevertheless came to harbor bitter feelings and animosity towards her abusive father.
Upon Nimavel’s return to Silrosia in Winter, Era XII PF, he was reunited with both Ly’sarion and Xara’vin ( see here). Acknowledging that he was no longer fit to lead House Mynendil given his dilapidated condition, Ly’sarion transferred the mantle of leadership unto Nimavel ( see here). Afterwards the pair traveled to Ashwood Manor to visit Siaren Luviel where Nimavel initially became acquainted with his newfound role as a supporter of House Luviel.
Since then, Nimavel had been obdurately serving House Luviel via assassination, perjury, and other illicit activities. Despite House Mynendil’s limited size, they are nevertheless comprised of some of the finest operatives in Elfhame. Having been trained by Ly’sarion and Nilmalas alike, the reputation of the nefarious band of assassins and spies eventually riveted the interest of the Heru Tahirin Or'lothiel, Leader of House Or’lothiel and the Commander of the Shadow Eyes, Silrosia’s private and surreptitious network of spies. ( see here – thread was never finished so results of it would probably be up to you).
Nimavel’s loyalty to House Luviel was called into question, however, when his romantic engagement with Calairiel Gil’dae began in Winter, Era XII PF. Confronted by Siaren Luviel himself, the Heru of House Mynendil’s fealty was subjected to interrogation, an event that strained the relationship between House Mynendil and House Luviel considerably. Nevertheless, Nimavel confirmed his loyalty to House Luviel, even if by means of equivocal responses ( see here).
Currently, House Mynendil remains in league with House Luviel, though The Black Leaf (Jael Susspin) has subtly conveyed interest in persuading House Mynendil to secede from Luviel and enlist with House Susspin. Thus far House Mynendil has been unresponsive, but more so because of out-of-character reasons (i.e. absence of moderation).
As far as previous activities go, Nimavel Mynendil has participated in a number of endeavors in Silrosia –most of which were tasks ascribed to him by House Luviel. For example, he coordinated the hunt for Ger'sylinë U’sionayl and accompanied Chrysannia Syl’lithar in infiltrating the Silrosian Prison Gaol to assassinate the captivated Mithania traitors –both threads, regrettably, never concluded. (respectively here and here.
Likewise, Nimavel has currently been expanding House Mynendil’s influence throughout other areas of the province such as Imperia where he assumed command of an organization known as the Conclave of Shadows, a collaboration of deadly elitist elves. He has also used subterfuge in other cities like Nexus Prime to form a band of non-elfin mercenaries –though in actuality their sole existence is to serve as a front for House Mynendil and the Conclave of Shadows in Arium.
Aside his active participation in countless illegal affairs, Nimavel is a loving husband and the father of several adopted children. His wife, Calairiel Gil’dae, although conscious of her husband’s crooked profession, loves him nevertheless ^.^ On another note, Nimavel is a life-time practitioner of a Mynendil-styled version of K’Tesh, a safeguarded and personally refined style involving the wicked use of hands and feet. It is as much a part of the Mynendil culture as anything else, and he is currently in the process of advancing his abilities to their highest level (in a grandfathered thread).

Wow…where to begin?
Calariel came to Syl’rosya unaware of her connection with House Gil’dae. Her ‘father’….whom ended up being her Uncle, had sent her to Syl’rosya to fetch some information for him, hoping in turn that she would somehow discover her connection to the elven House. She did, via a run in with Motito Gil’dae, whom turned out later to be her twin brother.
Very exciting.
Honestly, there have been sooooo many unfinished plots with Cala that I could scream. She’s in the middle of about a dozen threads that never finished due to no moderator being available but I will give you what I can.
Calairiel is carrying on the tradition of sorcery…currently training at the journeyman level. It’s been noted in several threads that Calairiel has an almost natural connection with arcane…somewhat of a natural wild talent that is now being sculpted. Makes her a tad unpredictable but from what I’ve understood, the longer she trains the more that goes away.
Calairiel is a sai-weilder and has used them on a few occasions in battle. After she finishes j-man sorcery, I’ll be getting her trained up to 2nd level Sai.
Motito handed over the House to Calairiel, as well as the businesses attached to the House. Currently, due to his demise (vanishing, dying…whatever), she is working with Alicia (whom Motito didn’t marry but lived with in Diana) on a fair agreement of the property Motito took with him when he left Syl.
Calairiel had a brief, but disastrous run as Lt. Gov in Arkamat ( not by her own doing…but by the silly peoples that live there )….leading her to understand that she wants no part of Imperial Politics and is committed to devoting herself to her people. The only good thing that came from the position is her friendship with Karo ( who was Gov )….and meeting Nimavel whom she fell in love with and married.
She has recently bought a tea shoppe in Syl and is looking to buy businesses outside Syl as well….( would buy more inside Syl but I think Ady and Elle have the market on those), including active negotiations in Nexus Prime and Chelseanna.
Officially, she serves as assistant to the Thane of Syl’rosya…but since there hasn’t been a GM, she hasn’t been doing much.
Her relationship with Nimavel brought about some ugliness. Officially, Gil’dae is still sworn to Luviel. However, there seems to be some confusion on that because Motito said he broke Gil’dae away from Luviel, making it it’s own little thing. Gil’dae has not received monies from Luviel nor really acknowledged the connection. Ragman asked me to clarify the situation but he left before I could do so. Calairiel would prefer not to be associated with Luviel because she’s really not fond of Sarien…leading us toooooo
Calairiel’s association with E’braeyl!
House E’braeyl, or more specifically the two elder brothers, have an interest in Calairiel. One is an intellectual interest, and perhaps political…the other is a creepy, creepy weird interest. The thread was meant to allow Cala to flesh out just exactly what was going on in House E’braeyl but again, the thread was dropped. Calairiel –was- interested in forging a relationship with the House but it just never happened.
Calairiel is also friendly with the son of the head of House Sy’nore. He would really like it if Calairiel would love him but never really professed his feelings for her and Nim got there first. =-) They are very good friends and he seems to trust her above and beyond most in Syl. There was a plot in the Barch ( Cala’s home away from home) but it as well never finished.
Calairiel and Nimavel adopted several elven orphans from Medonia and plan to adopt more in the future. Cala’s vision is to have her own little elven orphanage in Syl since her and Nimavel are well off and can afford to help make the children’s lives better and care for them.
Calairiel –is- aware of Nimavel’s activies but they are not actively discussed by the pair. They both have their own business and that’s the way it is. She feels that Nimavel only dispatches people that –really- deserve it and whether or not that is the case, only he knows. She doesn’t ask and he doesn’t say. She loves and adores him and is completely devoted to their lives together, as well as the future of House Gil’dae and Syl’rosya.
Here are a few of the odds and ends threads that never finished as well, giving a little more insight into Calairiel and her plots:
- She was in the process of trying to secure the 30th House in the Syl Combine and tie them with Gil'dae.
- Here, Cala was exploring her relationship with Phedos and Carmelya and learning about the elven pantheon.
- This was the first plot I ever did in Syl. Chrysianna was supposed to peer-mod it to conclusion but vanished, so AGM Pirate has received permission to finish it. He is in the process of getting the information from the GD that was approved for the end.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you!

Although I’m not necessarily posting actively much anymore, Eren’s still around (read: within the northern provinces of Alleria). He has quite the little background concerning Syl’rosya, and given I do eventually plan to return some day, I think it would be a nice opportunity for me to collaborate everything and post it here for your perusal, Lachesis.
~~~
House Mael’tharias is the 28th House of the Syl’rosyian Combine, although admittedly one of the more important lesser Houses given its pivotal role in management of the Blackbarch. It has an intimate and extensive history with House Firesong, fueled even more so by Eren’s actions which I’ll discuss later. Out of the three Syl’rosyian Houses in the Blackbarch (Firesong, Mael’tharias, and Sy’nore), it is Firesong and Mael’tharias’ responsibility to combat the Deathfaye or Syl’ger (I believe the second is what the name was changed to, although the spelling might be off). Mael’tharias had pledged its fealty to House Firesong, 5th House in the Combine, and both Houses gained the right of surname through Lord Jaraelium Celerrond, 3rd House of the Combine.
Erenthril Mael’tharias came to inherit House Mael’tharias from his father, who died following the Vysstichi attack in winter however many eras ago. Within the attack Eren lost his older brother and younger sister as well, leaving him with only his cousin, Ely’sanya, and his Uncle Ghastr for family. Upon resuming the mantle of Lord of his House, Erenthril immediately went about increasing his House’s prominence behind the scenes. He inadvertently ran into Jael Susspin at Moonwillow Keep ( see here) and the two have eventually became somewhat more than acquaintances given the number of meetings they’ve had at various social events (read: Aderyn and Elle’s baby shower, the Combine Meetings, the potential Trelore adventure stuff, etc). Jael remains one of Eren’s favorites within the Combine, although he is an acquaintance of Aderyn’s and more or less an enemy of Motito.
Jael also helped Erenthril renovate his estate into a fortress within the Blackbarch. Now, Kard en’ Tel’ Arrna can be seen towering alongside the large dead trees within the Barch, with elven soldiers and remnants of the Shining Host patrolling its ballistrades and walls. The exchange between the two shows the good natured interest Jael has in the protection of Syl’rosya, and the relationship that was being forged. Things kind of stalled out due to lack of moderator activity, but the thread was approved here.
On an aside, Nimavel Mynendil has been Erenthril’s best friend since his childhood. The two remain staunch friends up until this day, and Nimavel is perhaps the only real reason by which Eren has any inspiration to return. Things grew slightly awkward when Nimavel married Calairiel, who Erenthril used to… I guess date? It’s a very amusing triangle. There’s threads all over Syl’rosya between Eren and Cala, but long story short, Erenthril eventually cut things off entirely because he couldn’t deal with her over-protective brother Motito, nor did he want to.
Still seeking support and stability for House Mael’tharias, Erenthril bought and continues to own the Trepwood Stables ( see here). I’ll moderate everything that needs moderating there, so you can consider it a load off your shoulders.  The Stables remains his only financial investment in the city, mostly due to the fact that Aderyn and Elle bought up the silver district while Eren was still making his stake as a noble.
Erenthril begins to court Sierre Firesong, who was also a childhood acquaintance. The two eventually turn out as lovers, but there’s enough drama between them to give the entire Combine a headache. Eren left for his Master Elementalism, returned having picked up a different lover, and…well, things are a little awkward more or less. He came back and saved her life in the Barch, for which she should probably be eternally grateful, but nevertheless the anxiety between the two is still high. She’s part of the reason why Eren is avoiding Syl’rosya. Threads are: here, here, and here. There’s more but I don’t have any of the links saved from Eren’s second trip back to Syl’rosya.
Let’s see…what else to feed you. House Mael’tharias has exceptionally strong ties to Alicros Hiriam, who remains a very close friend of Erenthril’s. Alicros, although aging, has always been an excellent source of wisdom for dealing with the Barch and has always offered to assist in an inadvertent way. In this thread, he imbued Eren’s signet ring with a special spell meant to target the Syl’gers as a sort of ward. Very nice. Although Eren suspects Alicros has a history he’s not sharing with him, and that the human’s days are numbered, he looks upon Alicros as one of the finer specimen Syl’rosya has turned out, because he’s not polluted with political crud.
In terms of relationships to other Houses, his strongest ties rest in Mynendil, Susspin, and Gil’dae now that Calairiel has taken over. He has had several meetings with Elle Lothain, and met Aderyn at the lifebrightening ceremony for his children. He also met Taneril Luviel, but given Taneril was a bastard child… I wouldn’t put much on that.
~~~
This is starting to get pretty long.
Outside of Syl’rosya, Eren has done a lot. Although not much of it concerns the city, I can think of two very important key elements that might. First, Eren has become the Prophet of Phedos, the patron Elven God. This kind of puts him in as top dog, although he’s begun to resent Phedos mostly because of the lack of awarding experiences playing the avatar to a God has brought about to him. You can check those details in my SoF. The resentment has stemmed mostly from moderator activity, which has basically left my PC with a whole bunch of responsibility but a lack of means of conducting it. I’d love to get a plot going with you on that, but depending on the GD decision for the colloquium and Gods in Gameplay, we’ll have to see just what can be cooked up.
Secondly, Eren attained his Master Elementalism. He also ended up coming back to Syl’rosya, but found that things had changed. Mithania got tried and virtually discarded from the Combine, and he found a bunch of political squabbling. Somewhere back there I think the Ward to the Blackbarch broke or something? You might have to dig up a bit of information on that, but coupled with the political bickering and hidden agendas each House seemed to have, Eren left Syl in disgust and made his cousin run the House and his Uncle its defenses.
~~~
That’s pretty much where I stand. Eren plans to stop by and visit Nim and Cala relatively soon, possibly Jael, Alicros, and Sierre as well, so…if you’re up for it, let me know. Although I can’t really peer-moderate much due to my spurs of inactivity, I can handle any or all Arcana threads that might pop up for you.
Well... hmm, I'm a new PC (or more like not really used yet) with less then 10 IC threads within Silrosia, or Aelyria for the matter. So I don't have a comprehensive history of activity relating to the House(s) and Silrosia.  Guess I'll just brief about Mithania's background here.... sorry for any inaccuracies coz truthfully, I'm not that an 'expert' on my own House. The guys/gals who hang around Silrosia for quite some time prob know more then me
========
Mithania was once the 5th House in the combine. A considerably large and powerful House, it is divided into two however, the 'main branch' which resides at Windsinger Keep and the other, at Moonwillow Keep.
The Lord of Mithania as well as Windsinger was Shan'tillar Mithania, now deceased during the Vysstichi invasion. He is a battle-hardened, militaristic leader, driven mad with revenge after losing his wife to a Vysstichi assault (years before the invasion plotline). Hence the endless war Mithania waged against the dark elves, giving Mithania the reputation of being warlike and aggressive.
He has several sons, the eldest being Caen'ladirr Mithania who took over Windsinger after his father's demise. The 2nd son also perished during the invasion. The 3rd son is Llorinal Mithania. (There is a 4th who is a PC if not mistaken, a retired/inactive PC tho). Larinor Mithania is a nephew but is treated like a son by Shan'tillar. Naloren en Vikaryl, a half elf/human(?) half eshlahier, was adopted by the Mithanian brothers and raised as their own.
Llorinal Mithania, who was against his father's ideals of war, left Windsinger and later established Moonwillow. It is everthing Windsinger isn't, a center of elvish entertainment, music, wine, naked dancing elves, sex .... loads of debauchery.
The relationship between Windsinger and Moonwillow can be described as tensed. Kinship by blood being the bond that kept the ties between the two Mithania branches. Due to recent events, it has been possibly severed.
After the Vysstichi attack on Silrosia, an investigation was conducted and House Mithania was put to blame under charges of (if I’m not mistaken) withholding information of the attack for personal purposes, deemed to be a crime of treachery. Thus the Lords and prominent members of the House were sentenced to death. Due to the fact there was no Justicar(?) at that time, the sentence was put on hold. Caen'ladirr, and his cousin Larinor (Mithania's Warmaster), are currently in prison. Naloren has gone into hiding. Llorinal saved himself and Moonwillow by denouncing his kin. (The trial thread)
Mithania is now ousted from the Combine, relegated to clan status (rightfully called Clan Mithania now rather then 'House'), its military and naval arms disbanded, and most of its wealth relinquished. Only a small handful of clansmen remain, those still loyal to Mithania. Windsinger is Lordless and Moonwillow has shut its doors to its entertainment business.
The sole rightful heir left, Llorinal has slumped into drunken stupor, consumed with his grief and guilt for abandoning his brothers, he remains indoors in Moonwillow, drinking himself to death. This leaves his firstborn son, Eir'helm Mithania to step forward and take the leadership mantle.
It was around this time, Ponutis/Melora Era XIII, Kenkuroi Mithania, arrives at Moonwillow's door with his mother, a Kemite human, a woman Llorinal had done the mistake of taking to bed eras back. The youth's induction into Mithania appears to have been pre-arranged back then, and done through brute force, as hinted when his father and mother reunited briefly.
That issue, and the fact he was a half human, plus his negative attitude, had caused a little tension between him and Eir'helm, his brother, who seemed to have a grudge against humans. (We meant to develop a bit more on that sibling thingy but ..... I stopped playing a bit then  )
Anyways, Eir'helm now has taken charge of Windsinger and seems to have cut ties with Moonwillow after a fallout with his father. Kenkuroi remains loitering around in Moonwillow, trying to fit in with his new family. He is not recognized by his human name, but by his middle name, or elvish name, Morendil.
OOC wise I planned for my PC to learn about Mithania's fate ICly... then pull him out of Sil and go wander around Aelyria a bit heh. Now, I'm just gonna assume Kenkuroi has been informed to sort of fill in the IC gap within the space of time I went away and back.
Bascially that's how it is. Currently I don't have any concrete, particular plans for my PC..... just trying to get active back, and go with the flow.
Hola! I'm back after a year, I got into a really bad car accident. I never really got far with Enelya in the big plots of Syl because of my leave but I'll give you some information on the Elsdragon family that I know about and about Enelya.
Also since the Elsdragon family is so small there isn't much to write up about.
-----
(Edit: This is going to fixed we've recently gained new house members and we are editing our family history. WHen Keldon is finished writing it up I'll summarize it here.)
Keldon is busy with his Imperial business, he is a Provost, while Enelya and Silmarwen have stayed over the years at the Gil'dae Cheb in the guest quarters.
Last era, Enelya was attacked by the Blackbarch and cursed. She was in a magically induced coma and recently woken up. She does not know where her brother is and last heard that he was in Primus Gaudeo. At the change of the season she might go to Primus to look for him. I plan for her to meet up with Yarrow there, who Keldon has adopted into the family.
Enelya doesn't know many people outside of the Gild'ae family, and hopes to rectify that. Recently Motito Gil'dae has passed away, Enelya mourns for her cousin like the rest of her family.
If you have any questions, check my CIR click my signature picture it'll take you there. You can also contact me. And my post stands in shame compared to everyone elses. >.<
Oh we also have a developing House Elsdragon forum in the living houses section on the board. Also a lot of what happens with the Gil'dae house tends to effect the Elsdragons. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
