A much needed vacation

TS-Fifth Cycle of Cryxatum shortly after the article about the Prime horse races was published in the herald.

It was an interesting thing, asking for time off or Katerynn thought so at least. She never had before and part of her felt ashamed. It wasn't unusual to ask for leave. Her fellow horse archers did. She just never had. There had never been a reason. Her health was exceptional and maybe if it were for health reasons she would feel better about it. The truth was that she wanted to go to the horse races in Prime and wanted was an understatement. Katerynn hadn't been this excited about anything in a long time. There was a very good chance that she wouldn't be able to go and she pretended like it wouldn't bother her but truth be told it would eat her up inside every time she would hear news of the event.

Luckily for Katerynn, her superior officer wanted her to take some time off. She had served for several eras now and this would be her first and much deserved vacation. At least, Eldarwen thought so as she eyed the young Gil'dae whom stood in the middle of her office.

"Of coarse you may take a four cycle leave Katerynn! You will need time to get there and back. Your attendance has been exemplary!" Katerynn started to protest but Eldarwen silenced her with a raised hand. "No now I insist. However, it is unpaid leave but I doubt that will be of consequence." Eldarwen was aware of the affluent family Katerynn came from. The fact that Katerynn didn't have to work but chose to made Eldarwen respect her more. "Now about your horse. You may take her with you but if she is injured in any way you will have to replace her out of your own pocket. I also have no qualms with you taking your bow and some arrows but the same thing replies. You'll have to pay for the arrows and if you break the bow you'll have to replace it. Now just make sure you designate one of your squad men as squad leader before you go and Katerynn," She folded a letter she had written while she talked with Katerynn. "Enjoy yourself and that is an order."

Katerynn couldn't help but smile and responded to her superior officer accordingly before she left her office and headed home with a bit more bounce in her step than usual. Her trip was going to be fun. She knew it.
