Give a Healing Hand
[Ragboy] ooc: My apologies!!! :/
[Cont.] At the Lodge...
Quote:
A smile formed on the elderly humans lips, he had a pupil who was willing to take the time and serve the goddess before wanting training. This in it’s own must have meant something, all to often he had people be far to eager to start training before spending any time getting to be more with the goddess. This of coarse could have just been said to human the old man but he doubted it, he wanted to and tried to trust everyone he had first met. It was an awful thing to just assume that someone was lying the first time they say anything.
“You will need to help out around the Lodge in the ways of healing and perhaps other things if need be. You are permitted to pray at any time that you like, if you feel you must even when you are being trained let me know and you can go child. I will never get in the way of someone communicating with the goddess Diana” he answered. “If this all seems suitable to you then go and pray, and come back in a brightening or so and I will help you learn.”

Rhiannon smiled faintly and nodded her head, "I will help out, clean, take care of the feeble and the sick, whatever I am asked and wherever I am needed." With that, she turned and exited, feeling herself renewed as she began her steps on the path on which her mother once travelled. To be a healer was important to her, and perhaps, even to her family, of whom she wished to make proud. A frivolous girl she was not, and her love for civic interests and wisdom began to grow that very day.
She did as she said; Bird prayed and prayed for her family's souls; gave her thanks for returning her to her mother's homeland into the welcoming arms of her aunt; thanked the goddess again for her brother; and a simple supplication to help her achieve her dream was not left unsaid. At length, she returned to the Lodge to seek out Father Hiriam but realised she had to return home. Tristram required her presence later that afternoon as he was in a despondent mood after disclosing to the Arwen Anulindrael of the tragedies that he and Rhia were subjected to live through. Thus, she left a message for him with one of the Lodge's attendant stating she would return when certain issues in her life were settled. She briefly mentioned that if Father Hiriam had suspicions of her 'feigned' intentions, he could forget them all, for she truly desires to be a studious pupil. Rhia apologized and mentioned that any concern he had may be resolved by requesting the Arwen to verify the events for him.

Era XIII Post Fractum. The First Era of the Regency of Milo L'Evienne.
Many months passed and Bird kept true to her word. She returned inquiring after Father Hiriam, stating also that she was prepared for her rigorous training and all the sorrows of her past were now but lessons learned.
If she found the wise old sage, she would express her readiness for the training, but not before apologizing for her postponement. She stated that she knew it would be long and even difficult for her mentally and emotionally, but that she was willing and prepared. Syl'rosya was her home now, the elves more of kin than of mere neighbours - should they need a healing hand, she would lend it.

It was a little more difficult to find the father than the first time she had come but when she did she seen that he was standing by a window in an almost forgotten corner of the temple. He was looking out the window into the nice day it had turned into outside. When she found him she hadn’t said a word when Father Hiriam talked to her. ”Welcome back” in his voice could be detected something off, different from the last time Rhiannon had spoken with the elder human… and it didn’t seem to be for the better.
”You are here for your lessons thaen?” the father took his gaze away from the window and over to the woman and walked towards her and out into the halls. He walked and beckoned ”Please, follow me” and if she did he would continue.
”If I remember correctly you have already done your initiate. Why is it that you have come to us for your continued training instead of the one that had started teaching you. I must tell you, the answer to this question is very important.”

Rhiannon was concerned with the disposition in which Father Hiriam was in. The last she saw him, he was in a state of sanctimonious bliss, a welcoming figure that emanated a warmth so often sought by the hungry souls of the destitute. However, to her dismay, he presently seemed...distant.
"Yes, I've returned, father." She followed in the direction he led her, biting her lips as if unsure if she had become a nuisance to him, an unwanted individual who was nothing more than a random student that could not be anymore serious than a congenital idiot.
”If I remember correctly you have already done your initiate. Why is it that you have come to us for your continued training instead of the one that had started teaching you. I must tell you, the answer to this question is very important.”
The inquiry began. She hated questions; usually because such queries picked at one's soul or past of which she did not wish to disclose. And who would? Certainly, she was not the only citizen to have lost their family; but the tragedy was nevertheless one thing that she preferred to be kept locked away in the shadowy recesses of her mind, even if it chafed at her soul. Tristram often succumbed to despondent moods; the wounds had festered at a faster rate than she imagined. Verily, even his soul clamoured loudly than hers for healing Time to allay the sorrows. Thus, as a good sister, she was always at his beckon call, even if balancing kindred loyalties with matrimonial duties made her weary and her grieving heart more heavy.
"Yes, father, I have completed my initiate training in Medonia under one named Panacea Asklepia. But, I no longer live there, but here, in the land of my kin, my mother's home. She has passed...about a pattern ago, and the pain still is acute whenever I set my foot in the city of Enamoria. And though I regard the angelic Asklepia with the highest praises, I feel my place is here where my mother once was. I will clarify that I do not intend to solely be a student of thaumaturgy, but also, a public servant in the Lodge if you require my services."

The father could see that she was still somewhat troubled by the passing of her mother. How much he didn’t know, but he would in time, find out. He nodded to her reply and remained silent until they came to a room in which he opened to door. He allowed for Rhiannon to enter first and than he would follow.
In this room there was a large chair behind a desk which father Hiriam slowly sat into, and a smaller, but comfortable one in front of the desk which he held out a hand for Rhiannon to sit in. When/if she sat down he would ask a rather personal question. One in which he intended to hurt her with, not for the wrong reasons though, he needed to see before he taught her anything.
”Tell me about your family, I would like to know as much as possible and how your mother had passed and how do you feel about it.” he didn’t offer a reason as to why he wanted to know.
OOC: Sorry for the delay

Her gray eyes glazed over momentarily before the formation of tears receded back into the depths of her orbs. She could not allow herself to cry; for once they were set free, it would be quite sometime before she would be calmed once again. The father was prodding into the most intimate region of her soul. Within were things that were kept locked away for the sole purpose of being forgotten, and now he called her to reveal them all to him.
She was silent for a moment but reassured herself that had he not been a saintly man, the maiden would have walked away feeling indignant for his impertinence. But Father Hiriam was not so, thus she spoke, stumbling over words as she strugged to disclose her secrets:
"It was not just my mother that passed, Father. My father, my sister, my grandparents... Not a night has failed me in which I do not see them in my dreams. They are as they were the last I saw them, happy faces and not a care in the world. It saddens me that they did not leave Telath in such joyous states...
It has been over a year now since...since they were...taken away so abruptly. They died in a fire, but it was not...
...accidental... And I miss them. I pray for them every day and every chance I get."
Rhiannon lowered her head as she was heavily oppressed of spirit and pining for the past.

Father Hiriam nodded slowly listening to what the young girl was saying. He was hoping for more, that she would spill all of her emotions but she hadn’t. She was keeping it locked away inside, there were more questions that he could ask her that might get her to break but decided against it. Someone who wanted to keep it locked away can become distressed which wasn’t why he had asked these questions. Slowly he switched his position in his chair so he was leaning to the right side a little letting Rhiannon think about everything. Then he said ”You do understand that Thaumaturgy cannot heal do you not?” he wanted to make sure that wasn’t what her motives were for learning the art of healing.
If she said that she knew or something along those lines he would stand up again. ”I suppose it would do to show you where we bring the sick young apprentice” he walked back out threw the door and lead her down a long hallway. There were several rooms on each side of the hallway some doors were open others were not. He stopped at a door and his eyebrow slowly rose as he looked in. He clearly hadn’t expected someone to be in this room but there was a man laying on a bed. His eyes were closed and he was tossing to-and-fro. There was a small gash down his right arm and it was turning green and black all around it.
He looked at Rhiannon with a small kind smile ”I will let you fix him up. You are an apprentice here and so you should be able to handle the people as well as what ails them. This is something you likely learned in your initiate training, go ahead.” he stood in the doorway after she went in looking on at his new student. He was testing her, not just anyone could be taught by father Hiriam
