That Z'kron's subconscious would roil and rumble to Sheria of all places was not entirely unexpected. As his mind perceived the twisted imagination of the horrid nightmare of modern Sheria replete with withered trees swaying in contaminated blight with skeletons shambling to the bidding of a far more sentient undead host there was a tea party being held with familiar faces. Duncan Scythe, Milo, and his Grand-daughter were sipping away at tea having been dripped off of a nearby twig into each of their cups that they had help up ready to accept the broiling brew.

As quick as his mind may have been able to capture this nightmare the scene quickly changed. Somewhere in the real world, possibly in the safety of a chasm on the edge of the Sherian province that had not been blighted by the Sherian devastation and was impassable to orc, or possibly elsewhere as the Dracon's flight path had been buffeted by a storm, his body shifted uncomfortably. The Z'kron's dream rolled on.

The landscape continued to shift, as expected from extreme contamination, and the picnic flew further and further away forever out of his reach. The grand-daughter which he had failed forever torn from his view and the aspects of the other two helping to keep her away.

For a moment Z'kron thought he could hear Kalendryas on the wind. The most uncertain thing was whether or not he could hear laughter or her chiding his various failures as a prophet or in protecting his grand-daughter. Either way it was there to remind him of things that had passed.

"What's your next move?" a voice asked, familiar in that it sounded exactly as his own.

A sudden weight in his pocket revealed a chess piece, the knight, had found its way there. A reminder of things long past. In the contiminated clouds above was a reflection of an older conundrum where port alyxandrya was burning during the attack of the dark alliance. The question hung in the air as it awaited an answer.

Z'kron was free to try and bring about the force of his memories to interact with his psyche or to disengage at willyou are free to attempt to use 'will and memory' to effect the scene as this is a dream. EIther way any efforts to awaken did not yet work.

Z'kron's memory of the chess game was dim.
For some reason, his mind had been turned towards another game.
Snake riders and something. Serpent riders and something?

He'd been musing on the strange absence of really good games in the empire.

Musing on life in general.

Strange thoughts about ratta orphans, and maybe adopting one with Argon. Strange, stray thoughts.

Where was Argon anyway? He was fairly certain they were meant to be in Sheria together. Except, here he was. And no Argon in sight.

He looked around expectantly, wondering where his muscly-armed companion had got to.

"Argon? Buddy? You need a heal?"

If Clarissa was offended Z'kron wouldn't know as the facial features of his Grand-daughter morphed into the perfect blonde haired copy of his dwarven companion of some eras cradling a tiny your rodenti in his arms, feeding it in a fashion that saw Argon suddenly spring 2 new sets of limbs and start to resemble someone Z'kron vaguely recalled from a recursive storyline in one swift motion. The rodenti began to choke as the strange spidermilk overwhelmed it; and with it the rodenti morphed back into Clarissa who died, once again, because Z'kron had done too little to fulfill his charge.

The horrible divine-like voice of a familiar God whispered into his ear
"You have failed me, prophet." it said, clearly as Z'kron had remembered the voice of Kalendryas "The future shows you have not set this right. Will you change the past?"

Echoes of this faded as a death knight literally barrelled past knocking Z'kron over charging through the remnants of the tea-party underneath the dripping tree. The insignia of the dark alliance clearly ont he plate barding armour of the hourse, the shield and the cloak. Exactly where had the dark alliance found the funds and resources to equip their army so well? Perhaps it didn't matter in this context as the deathknight was engulfed with the tiny, fully realised Z'kronite carrotlingsdescribe what a fully imagined Z'kronite sentient carrot being would be that took root and literally ate the rot away until only the face of chuck kept form for a moment before blending away to reveal a familiar face of Milo underneath. With that, suddenly, Z'kron was the renewed Milo who was beng accosted by a Sherian representative about his failures as Z'kron imagined it to be... but out of all the chaos of these dreamlike shades what stuck for the interorid ancient dracon?

The sudden resemblance of Argon to his sister raised some unusual implications in the druid's subconscious he wasn't quite ready to deal with.

That whole affair was something to be kept firmly locked in another mental room. Up the stairs. With his brother Chuck, and his equally under referenced twin brother whatshisname.

This was probably a nightmare, but it had a weirdly appealing tinge to it.

He wondered how his relationship with Kalendryas factored into all of this.

"Do I.. like disappointing you?" he responded to the planetar, a little confused as the the rationale his preconscious was using to string all of these things together. He blinked as someone who looked altogether too much like his old buddy Avanthar morphed into a sibling. He scratched at his nose.

"What are you doing with my carrots?" Which were, of course, partially descended from his. Serious familial theme there. Little orangey-blustone-blue things, with too many arms, strangely rocky eyes, rotating trinary yet entirely functional wings and the endless echo of the call.

"I can't see the chessboard. Like, really. Not just metaphorically. I can't remember all the moves."

There was a loud droning in the background of the dream that sounded oddly like the rambling of a man discussing an orthodox view of the Church of the Faith. The details just coulnd't be made out. Alas! There was a certain degree of evidence to suggest the voice was disapproving of the importance Kalendryas held in Z'kron's psyche.

As the Z'kronites began to take flight like jellyfish of the air singing their draconic tune the air itself grew thicker. As Z'kron tried to recall the chessgame his consciousness saw the air turn to fog and a faint green checkerboard appeared above him. Tombstones with the names of all those he had failed to save in the past that he could remembered showed there. Again the name Clarissa was on a tombstone of a pawn as was the name of a half-dozen Sherians he had become an acquaintance of. If he looked twice the names often changed but they always represented someone he knew he could have saved. The question remained whether or not he cared?

As for the board with the tombstone pawns, dark alliance knights, druid bishops and a Milo for a King it had formed a configuration which represented something

An image of himself walked past his view, almost mocking

"Oh how self-indulgent you have become!" the other Z"kron said "So convinced nothing matters or nothing is real. So old hat, old chap. You thought you could go about maiming, killing or failing to act without consequence? Ha!"

It was decidely a different tone of voice, a triumphant one, as if this Z'kron felt morally superior to this Z'kron and, possibly, to everyone else for some reason.

The foggy checkboard above, glowing green began to fall from the sky like burning shards of port alyxandrya. A burning deathknight looked at Z'kron dead in the eye

"You've been our best member yet." it stated "Why not accept our gifts? Telath needs our vision. You made our vision the reality in Sheria. You can do it again!"

It was unclear, as the knight burned, if it was a commendation or an accusation. The Z'kron clone laughed itself away into a foggy echo as it did so. Argon nor Clarissa showed.
