[ZA] I wanna go, I wanna know [Maddyn]

Summer, Era XXVI Post Fractum

It was pretty obvious (probably) that being publicly Alithean was probably, like, not at all a good idea. Not in this day and age - not even in a place as nice as Moonstone. Not even if you were the governor of the province.

So maybe, you know, it was less than a good idea that Sliucha publicly hang out all the time at a place like the Swirling Lotus Gardens. Or at the very least, the Temple section of it. She probably couldn't shake her hedonist's reputation at this point but at the very least maybe she didn't want people seeing her wandering into a place that was almost definitely certainly affiliated with Alithean activities - or at least had heavy rumors flying around as such.

So a while ago she'd instituted a new idea, which had been communicated to those affiliated with the Temple, that she'd craft a new identity for them to all address her by. Matriarch Phoebe was a lovely Vysstichi who was definitely the nominal head of the Temple of Sinful Delights and not Sliucha, the Steward-Governor, who just really liked drinking and partying and sex but was definitely not in charge of the Temple.

Throw in a bit of custom and ritual, throw in some slick uniforms, throw in an overall vulpine motif? Well, hopefully that made it a little easier on Sliucha to not attract quite so much attention all the time. When everybody had fox tails (the number of which denoted status), nobody had fox tails.

Legitimacy meant organization - and the Court of the Fox was slowly being brought to life.

Although, in the deeper and more private sanctums of the Temple, Sliucha still tended to remain herself. Oftentimes it involved meetings with other Temple leadership, insiders of the Temple hierarchy, people who already knew she was Sliucha anyway, so why all the hassle? At this point, it was an attempt to try and clamp down on further leaks, to re-establish the narrative. How effective it would wind up being? No idea, but she might as well try, you know?

It was in the aftermath of such a meeting that Sliucha, a little worn from all the more official blah blah - unavoidable, even if Alithean business tended to be very pleasant - had decided to let out some steam. Nobody else was going to be using this little conference room, secreted away in the depths of the compound, after all. With Priestess Dynne alongside the most heavily corrupted of the Carmelyans, Siska, in her lap?

Mua~! Mua~! Bosoms were bared, kisses were had, stress was actively being relieved.

Mua! A good time was being had, and given that there’d been no request for Silucha not to be disturbed? She was disturbed. Interrupted at least towards the tail end of the strenuous session of what Priestess Dynne considered ‘Mentoring’ and Siska in an earthier manner just considered it what it was. Call a spade a spade and what not.

There was a corpse standing at the doorway. Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock.

The incessant tapping on the side of the door’s frame as a desiccated, if not vaguely familiar face watched Sliucha, Dynne and Siska with eyes that were glassy and very much dead. Cheeks sunken and hollow, rotted through along the left side to showcase her teeth and what looked to be a cockroach scurrying out through the rotted opening. An almost perfectly slit throat that had been the cause of the woman’s demise, and a faded, dusty maid’s attire that completed the undead ensemble that added to the familiarity.

Her first kill? Perhaps. Perhaps not. But it’d been amongst the first where the budding Zygran had done so for her own expedience rather than at the command of the Temple of Carnal Love. A kill that had been wholesome in its efficiency, one that ran counter to all of Sliucha’s promise as a torturer for the Goddess of Pain. The maid that she’d stuffed under a bed so long ago. The maid that had acted as bait for Sliucha’s Master.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

“Oh wait your turn.” Dynne grumbled, clearly nonplussed at the idea of a zombie being at the door. Unconcerned and in the midst of a religious experience that, quite simply, she wasn’t in the mood for some corpse butting in.

It hadn't exactly taken long - not with the company that Sliucha had invited - for things to quickly become very pleasant, a welcome reprieve after having to talk about some terribly boring matters. Important, she couldn't deny, and she'd actually paid attention and focused far more than one might expect from somebody like her. But that didn't mean at the end of it she didn't want to get a cold beer and complain about it to her compatriots.

This was probably better, though. Suggesting that Siska perhaps kneel before the Matriarch to kiss something else, while she provided Dynne with Exhibit EFF of why the lamian tongue was absolutely lovely for kissing.

...

...?

...?

Zombie?

Lamian tongue was briefly extricated and, to console Dynne, perhaps Siska wouldn't mind alternating between the two? If they pressed against each other just so... really, it probably wouldn't be too difficult for the Carmelyan.

In truth, Sliucha didn't recognize the zombie at all. Her memories of her time at the Temple of Carnal Love were already fuzzy enough, a mixture of both the fair amount of time that had passed, the abuses that she had suffered while there, and admittedly the copious amount of partying that probably wasn't super great for long-term memory in general. There was a vague familiarity, but nothing certain, really.

The whole "undead" aesthetic didn't entirely help. Hard to recognize a face like that.

So, um... didn't really know how to interpret it, honestly? Sliucha spared the zombie a glance, waiting to see if there was some sort of message it wanted to deliver? Surely if somebody had bothered to send an undead minion over, they had figured out a way to actually pass along a useful message as well.

Seriously. Hadn't said not to interrupt, just in case there was something important she needed to know, but hello? If you were going to interrupt, it should be for something important!

Knock. Knock. Knock.

The dull, monotonous thumping continued without pause. Dead eyes continued to stare directly ahead into the room, glassy and vacant. It existed, knocking away as Siska and Dynne at least did their best to ensure overall satisfaction whilst doing their best to ignore the not-quite decomposing corpse. Given the Era’s since Sliucha had sent the Maid to the Umblat, it was decently preserved and to the Archmagus of Thaumaturgy she could feel the play of Necromancy about the corpse enacting the Calcify weave.

Not enough to make it look as good as new, sans the slit throat of course, but enough as to not be leaving fingers and the like dropping off willy-nilly either.

Special enough as to warrant a little care and maintenance when sending a message, but not enough to lead to more than a moderate amount of magic expended.

The knocking continued all the while, and if nothing else it was beginning to agitate Dynne as the sound was throwing off her rhythm something terrible.

Only for a voice from behind the zombie maid to call into the room in a panicked, “Uh, High Priestess! We have a problem out here?! Little help please!” from one of the Shrine Maidens.

Oh, maybe the zombie would actually be useful or something. Wishful thinking. Couldn't possibly be the case that if somebody wanted to send along a message that they have an undead capable of doing so, oh no. Just knock knock knock, and now there was other trouble, because of course there was.

Eyeroll. Hopefully whoever the cause of all this was intended to get her annoyed. If there was an interruption, fine, but at least be expedient about it!

Dynne was lifted up, Siska's head gently pushed back. "Up to you two if you'd like to come with, or simply continue on without me." If the Matriarch was lucky, she'd be able to figure things out and come back. If not? Well, maybe they could take this on the road and continue somewhere further down the line.

As it was? Sigh! She stood up, taking the masquerade mask and affixing it such that it covered the top half of her face. Step step step over towards the zombie maid, looking past it towards whoever had called out to her from behind.

"What's going on?"

Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock.
The sound was incessant, receptive and perfectly timed. Never once losing the beat that it formed in what was proving to be almost identical to that of a uniform heart-beat. Perhaps not Dynne or Siska’s given their activities, but it was more of an average in the big picture rather than just those that inhabited the immediate area.

Neither Siska nor Dynne seemed all that keen on following Sliucha into trouble. Not when their current activities were far more enjoyable. But the lengthy pause that followed Sliucha’s query was met with an eventually thoughtful look from Dynne. It was how she’d learned how to Dreamwalk and everything that had followed suit in the formation of the Succubus Corp had only manifested because she’d decided to do the stupid thing instead of the pleasurable thing.

“Sure?” Dynne offered, politely wiping at her mouth before looking at Siska who but rolled her eyes and seemed a little bit put out. But if both Sliucha and Dynne were going, then so too was all of the entertainment that they’d cooked up between them.
“Fiiiiiiine.” Siska grumbled, huffily looking about to where they’d thrown their clothes about.

The Zombie Maid didn’t move, but as Sliucha peeked out to see what all the trouble was? She found that it wasn’t just one messenger sent.

Each and every doorway had at least one Zombie standing there. Each and every one rapping their knuckles against it. Predominately, the Undead appeared Vysstichi with a good number of Esh’lahier thrown in. Humans were a rarity and each and every one appeared to have been the subject of a specialist in Zyrgran activities.

Knock. Knock.

Clothes? Oh, yes, Sliucha supposed they might need to put those back on if they were going out. Maybe? The Temple being the Temple, after all- but then again, who knew what this was going to lead to? Probably trouble, in which case, it would probably be good to be fully dressed. All right. Now, what was this all about?

Oh.

What the f-

"Go get Origa-Kuroi," Sliucha told one of the shrine maidens who was presumably around. "Tell her I need her for something."

Despite her initial reaction to immediately banish each and every one of the undead who were being such a bother? (So creepy!) Since whoever had sent them here had apparently not deigned to actually let the recipient of their 'message' actually know what was going on, they'd have to get their information some other way. Shooting the messenger, so to speak, would probably make that a little more difficult. As a necromancer, Origa-Kuroi might be able to glean a few details.

Pause.

"Unless she's working on something where, if she steps away, something really bad will happen." Never could tell with Origa-Kuroi. Best not to risk the Temple complex exploding just because of something like this, you know? Thus far, at least, the zombies didn't seem to be much of a threat - but Sliucha would keep an eye on them. If they proved to be hostile at all, well, they'd have to be dealt with, wouldn't they?

So yes, please go fetch the Turtian if possible, and Sliucha would stay here and keep an eye on things. How had they even gotten here? What were the Temple guards doing? Honestly.

And while keeping an eye on them... hmm. Some of these felt a little familiar. How peculiar.

Anyway. Could she, like... push the zombie maid out of the way, so that she could get into the hallway? Bit hard to observe the situation when having to peer over miss maid's shoulders.

One Shrine Maiden running off to find the Liche, doing her best to avoid actually going within arm reach of any of the zombies that kept knocking away upon the sides of the various doorways. Who knew when they’d decide to be less inclined towards percussion and make more like the Undead that were a little bit more traditional. Those that’d inhabited Centripax under the command of the Shadow Knight Avanthar Dra’Aran and Abcrul the XIIIth hadn’t exactly been suited for polite company.

Only to pause as Sliucha clarified that this wasn’t just an ultimatum so much as a request and that she’d understand if it fell under the category of ‘really really bad stuff happening’. Given the Undead, the Shrine Maiden did look a touch skeptical even as she nodded her assent of the situation. High Priestesses orders and what not!

Pushing past the Undead Maid, there was a bit of squishiness where decomposing flesh gave way and caused a chunk of muscle to splatter upon the ground along with what appeared to be a large number of white, wriggly maggots. Behind her, Sliucha could hear Dynne gagging as the smell was strong enough to even overpower the aroma the three of them had been building up in the confined space.

Undead, lots and lots of Undead and as Sliucha was able to gain a better view of the situation? It became apparent that a good number had suffered considerable injuries more recently than their cause of death. Prodding them with their weapons too, Sliucha could see a number of irritated and tired Temple Guards that had found the hard way that the Undead didn’t seem to much care if they were stabbed or had an arm cut off or the like. They just kept at it, with more and more appearing to replace their numbers if the Temple Guards were rude and lopped off both of a Zombie’s legs or made knocking impossible via limb removal.

Eventually, sure, the Temple Guards would probably incapacitate the Zombe’s given enough time. But for now there was just more dead than Guards, and as they weren’t overtly attacking and the High Priestess was engaged in religious rites of a sort? They’d been hoping to handle things before Sliucha, Dynne and Siska had wrapped things up between them. No such luck.

Not much point in saving the Temple from the zombie problem only for Origa-Kuroi's unsupervised experiment to kill them all with plague, you know? Pragmatism. Although Sliucha really would have much preferred that she not be working on that sort of thing to begin with.

And it was probably a little unfair to be too mad at the guards considering, well, the nature of undead. This sort of thing was something low-risk enough that there probably weren't an actual contingency plans in place. But now that it had happened, of course, they'd need to go over at some point what should be done in the event of future undead incursion. Maybe they needed to add a thaumaturge to the ranks here? Although, a decently high ranking one would probably be needed to get rid of such a large mass of zombies. Hmmm. Something to think about.

Might also be useful to have somebody on premises who could deal with any unwelcome Hayan influences in Alithean activities, for when Sliucha wasn't here. Things to think about in future!

For now? Um, well, she'd greet the Temple guards and see if they had any information from her. Did they know where these undead had come from? Some sort of direction? Did they know anything about the situation that she didn't?
