Race: Sea elf (Theylri)

A member of the race of the Theylri elves (sea elves), Ko'Riel was born in the Bellenic Sea several dozen ordinations ago to a male and his first wife. Looking not much different from other sea elves, he stands at 6'5 and has dark black hair (now bubblegum pink, as of this thread ), a rarity among those of pure elf blood. Ko'Riel also has the family tattoos on his arms. As he was growing up, he was taught how to read music and fervently practiced the tone of the music he played. Concentrating more on music theory than on the actual application of music, Ko'Riel knew how to play but had no actual experience.

Living with five sisters at home was not necessarily a very enjoyable experience for the sea elf. While his siblings were always loud and cheerful, Ko'Riel was withdrawn and quiet. While the sea elf's sisters occasionally poked fun at him because of this fact, he knew that they didn't truly mean any harm, and as such didn't mind it very much. He found solace with others of his gender, and they often drifted around the waters of the Bellenic Sea while their female counterparts chattered away.

Besides his musical education, the sea elf also received a rather good academic education. Naturally, he knows how to speak the Theylri tongue, Ko'Riel has also learned how to speak common, despite with a slight accent. He has the ability to comprehend all aspects of his native language, and also understands common.

In his 63rd ordination, he came upon the decision to leave the Bellenic sea and go onto the Aelyrian landmass. While his mother and sisters fretted over him (mostly his mother), his father silently accepted it, and presented the sea elf with an engraved silver flute, enchanted so that it would never break, rust, or go out of tune. Having no idea what to do, he drifted on the currents of rivers, occasionally walking when a river went somewhere Ko'Riel didn't wish to go. Deciding to go towards the general direction Zinn'Sunn, apparently the birthplace of music, it took the sea elf cycles to get there, floating down rivers and occasionally just walking because it was easier.

He adventured around the Empire for a bit, eventually receiving the Brand of Sophronia, Archon of Melodrama. This made him sort of melodramatic and he went on an epic adventure, leaving the Empire behind and wandering the seas. Lots of experiences were had. New types of music were learned. Then eventually he came back, apparently.

He just kind of does, like, whatever man. Go with the flow. Be like the sea. Eh.

Secrets :
It is difficult to comprehend the sea elf's personality. Considering his extremely young age, he is highly influenced by what goes on around him. For the most part he is rather withdrawn, and does not like to talk very much. He opens up to the right people, although Ko'Riel still does not talk very much. The sea elf is not very sociable, mostly because of the fact that he does not think he is a very sociable person.

If anything, Ko'Riel is the silent, loyal follower who will never betray a person. Loyalty is the value that the sea elf believes most strongly in; he believes that there is no worse sin than betraying somebody who trusts you. Diligent in his work, he readily follows ethical orders and does them to the best of his capabilities. Despite acting laid-back on occasion, he never slacks off.

Ko'Riel is rather indifferent and has formed no strong opinions on any matter. He is not apathetic; it is just that he has realized it is easier to avoid arguments if you do not have a side to really argue for.

At the same time, due to his young age, the sea elf is still rather naive about the way the world works. Whereas at times Ko'Riel will act much more mature than one would expect for a being of his (relative) age, there are also times when the way he sees the world is absolutely immature.

The sea elf also spends a great deal of time reading books. Knowledge is power.

Anthem of Aelyria (verse): The Imperial March of the Aelyrian Empire, also the Royal March of the Kingdom of Aelyria, was written originally by High Queen Melody de Lylles. It is the stirring national anthem of the Aelyrian Nation which, so long as the March is played, invokes the spirit of glory causing a few notable changes in the companions about the musician: combat maneuvers will be quickened with a minor haste effect, party members will find themselves to have increased physical strength, and those allied with the Bard will gain the benefits of being slightly resistant to fear effects and mundane intimidation due to increased battle morale.

Banshee’s Screech (shout): An instantaneous sonic attack that lets forth a high-pitched screech, capable of disorientating opponents by causing dizziness and nausea.

Chant of Conquest (chant): Emperor Constantine's Chant of Conquest is a spirited march that heightens the spirit. The Bard's companions will find themselves having increased military reflexes, greater dexterity and endurance, a higher pain threshold, and most significantly, greater accuracy with their chosen weapon due to an enhanced aggression toward physical combat.

Cinthera's Accelerando (chant): Syncopated rhythms are the trademark of this eternal classic written by a Medonian princess. Cinthera's Accelerando enables the Bard's party to travel at an increased pace and accelerated velocity.

Lullaby for Leland (chant): Named after one of the Aelyria's earliest Viceroys, the Lullaby for Leland is a tranquil song that is played to provide comfort, security and an aura of safety to those seeking rest. Monstrous creatures and most beasts will not attack a camp sanctified by the lullaby, and those that sleep to its graceful song will awaken refreshed.

Scales of Dissonance (verse): An ear-piercing scream of alternating, opposing chords that rivet up and down the scales creates one of the most cacophonous, but simplest, pieces of music known. Similar to the stoning of a heretic, the Scales of Dissonance will produce a light wave of pummeling damage for the duration that it is played in an area of effect designated by the performer of this dreadful piece.

Wimbly's Woeful Whispers (verse): Originally created to relay orders across a noisy battlefield, this soft, sullen piece allows a Bard to teleport the sound of their voice to a known target of their choice, enabling them a type of one-way communication. Though the original distance spans only a few yards, further experience will allow an even larger gap between the caster and the respondent.

Charisma's Canto (chant): Named after the enticing Queen Charisma, the Bard who plays this spellsong is capable of temporarily misleading a target into believing that the Bard and his companions are truly on their side. Queen Charisma was known to sing this canto just as she entered into diplomatic negotiations to lull other ambassadors into a sense of false security.

Chords of Cacophony (verse): Composed by the Bard Antiochus under the reign of High Queen Anna the Strict, the Chords of Cacophony are abrasive alterations of notes that generate a wave of appalling music, instilling fear in the targeted individuals listening to it. Those affected may find themselves shaken, causing their attacks to be significantly less accurate, as well as being unable to steady their nerves or concentrate enough to cast their spells. Targeted creatures with weaker willpower may even freeze in fright or attempt to flee.

Dolcissi Discorsa (verse): Though it initially sounds benign, through an alternation of contrapositive pitches, the Dolcissi Discorsa effectively disrupts the musical effects of another song being played. When played consistently over time, it can begin to deliver a potent headache accompanied by a series of stuns at each cadence.

Gellyn's Gaudeamur (verse): Originally a chant guarded by the Priory of Kriskinstat, Gellyn's Gaudeamur is a powerful rhythm that protects the group of adventurers allied with the Bard, effectively increasing their defensive capabilities by greatly reducing the encumbrance of their armaments and equipment, as well as granting an inherent immunity to magical spells so long as the piece is played. Named after Prior Gellyn Ankheris, Fifth Prior of the Defenders of the Faith.

Lion’s Roar (shout): Named after the creator of the spell, a mighty general known only as the Lion Baron, who often used it right before a charge. The Bard gives out a mighty roar, invigorating nearby allies and increasing their reflexes, speed, strength, endurance, and morale. It also saps enemy morale and decreases their fighting capabilities.

Melody of Concord (chant): The soothing sensation of peace and tranquility fills an area whereupon this gentle tune is played. Capable of calming down the restless and soothing the angry, those affected by the spell will also find themselves more inclined to tell the truth and also more able to realize when others are being deceptive or lying.

Rhyneira’s Rant (shout): Made famous by the teacher, Rhyneira, who used it on delinquent students. The Bard produces a massive amount of high-volume sound in a single direction, causing immense pain to any individuals caught within the sound wave as it shatters their eardrums.

Con Brio Fortississimo (verse): A song interlaced with powerful sonic energies, Con Brio Fortississimo periodically causes powerful shockwaves to emanate from the player in all directions, moderately damaging all those in the Bard’s general vicinity. The shockwaves are capable of knocking light projectiles out of the air, breaking bones, and causing light quakes in the earth at full strength, although the farther they go from the Bard, the weaker they become.

Nightmare Nocturne (shout): Enemies who are affected by this grating shout will suffer from horrible visions and terrifying hallucinations, heavily decreasing their morale and inhibiting their ability to function during the period of time the spellsong is active.

Scherzo Sostenato (chant): This graceful musical piece has often been played by Bards who undergo lengthy journeys wherein food and water may be limited. Those that hear the Scherzo Sostenato find their hunger and thirst held at bay for a long duration after the song has been completed, allowing travelers to eat and drink smaller portions, thus increasing the life of their rations.

Sonnet in Solo (chant): Reciting a poetic phrase to a sweet melody, the Bard who plays this song shall enchant his companion’s weaponry with a glowing vortex of vitriolic and cacophonic energy, invoking a concussive blast of sonic power when a strike is landed upon a hard surface. Although upon bare flesh the effects of the song are diminished, when presented with an opponent wearing or possessing naturally thick armor, the Sonnet in Solo works wonders for rupturing the flesh beneath. The aura lasts as long as the song is played.

Tempest Force (shout): The Bard gives out a mighty shout which holds tremendous force behind it. Anything that stands within the shout’s path, be it object or living being, will find themselves being pushed or flung back as the spellsong slams into them.

Vikrius in Presto (verse): A war chant, Vikrius in Presto originates from the lands to the far West of the Aelyrian Empire. A favorite of archers and other ranged specialists, those graced by its beneficial aura will find themselves ‘assisted’ by arcanic guiding winds. While played this powerful piece increases the speed at which the party can reload their weaponry, raises agility, elevates the rate of running, and causes all pieces of fired ammunition to be ‘guided’ toward their target, greatly heightening their accuracy.

Destra Sinistra (shout): A single piercing scream, Destra Sinistra addles and befuddles its targets, spreading confusion and chaos throughout enemy ranks. All sense of direction is momentarily lost as it becomes impossible to tell one direction from another, severely inhibiting all motor skills.

Madrigal Medley (verse): A Maestro has enough experience to analyze the ara of his surroundings and develop a discordant melody capable of dissipating that ara for the duration that the melody is played. Often used by Bards as an anti-mage spellsong, as without ara they cannot create mana and cast spells.

Klangfarbenmelodie (chant): A confusing mish-mash of a song that renders its targets completely docile for a long duration of time, sedating them and disrupting any attempts to focus. Often used on troublesome prisoners or other such individuals if they get too rowdy. Mages cannot access clara while in this state, nor can other Bards cast spellsongs.

Multiplication in Mesto (verse): Woe to those affected by the sullen sounds of the Mesto, as it can cause
Mesto the Bard can cause double, triple, or even further multiples of vision among those in an area they designate for as long as the Mesto is played. Beyond having extreme difficulty targeting the 'true' identities of the multiples seen, the Mesto has been known to induce extreme dizziness, nausea, and vomiting.

Serenade of Sirens (verse): Enchanting those that hear it, the Serenade of the Sirens lulls a large area of opponents into relaxation and specifically targets an individual that the Bard designates to charm it. Those charmed by the Serenade of the Sirens will find themselves helpless to obey the Bard’s telepathic commands for the duration of the song.

Shield Sonata (verse): While performed the Shield Sonata erects a powerful barrier that surrounds the Bard and his party while they are engaged in combat. Though permeable, the shield will absorb a fraction of any damage physical or magical. Allies within the barrier will also find their weapons and ammunition surrounded by a high frequency vibrating aura. Any damage inflicted by this enchanted weaponry will be heightened as the aura saws through obstacles in its path.
