Norin Beldwhig is an upstanding Citizen

Background

Prelude
  • Clan Names: Beldwhig & Weatherstone.
  • Location of Beldwhig Clan: Primus Gaudeo, except for Norin and maybe a few others.
  • Family History: The Beldwhig clan is a very small clan with not even a dozen members. It was founded after the loss of Dargis and has not grown a lot since. It was founded by a couple who didn't know what clan they belonged to and thus created their own. Through the generations, the clan has given away quite a few females to other clans and has only bearely survived. They didn't help to rebuild the new city of Dargis known as Zerdargia but instead chose to travel to Primus Gaudeo where they settled.
  • Personal History: Norin was born in Primus Gaudeo and lived a normal dwarven life until his parents died. The cause of death was never revealed to the young dwarf who stayed in the city for a few patterns before journeying to Zerdargia at the age of 150 patterns.

Chapter 1: Norin in Zerdargia (Part I)
Norin moved to Zerdargia at the age of 150 patterns. Once in Zerdargia he bought his new "Hold". He had decided to join the dwarves in their home city although he had yet not heard much about Dargis. He knew that Zerdargia was the closest to the ancient dwarves of old and decided to join the proud dwarven army set up by Veldar. Therefore, he joined the Veldar Elite. Being in the Veldar made him more social. He even helped out a few who had difficulty in finding the barracks the same way as he had had the first day he had joined the Veldar Elite. One of these were Flunurion. It wasn't long before he found out that singing was also something that interested him and that it was something he needed to do in his free time. One brightening, he went to Omally's Tavern and heard the incredible tale of Gyarmon and the Troll-Bane blade. He did meet Flunurion again at the Veldar Compound but they never really bonded. Instead, he bonded with a giant who planned on joining the Veldar Elite as well. This giant was Veleraen and he met him by bumping into him while walking through Zerdargia. Norin had not given up his hobby as a singer although he had started in the army and had begun to socialise. Instead, he made some research into Gyarmon and the legend that he was making into a song. He went to the Raven Inn to inquire Karteth about the legend. He did not encounter Karteth at the Raven Inn but instead talked to him right outside in the streets. After Norin had gotten the information he needed to write his first song he needed to improve his singing talent and thus went to the Musicians' Lane where he met Cassandra who thought him the basics of singing. Time passed and Norin experienced life at the Veldar Barracks. Unfortunately, none of the other soldiers were very talkative and he never got to know many of them or any of them intimitaely except maybe for the giant Veleraen. Through the streets of Zerdargia, Norin also encountered other dwarves who lived in the same city. One of these dwarves were Azaghan although they only spoke once in the streets. There was even an elf by the name of Charime Maliduir who came to Norin's hold in the middle of the night seeking shelter. This was the first time Norin spoked from a pipe and quickly grew a liking to it although he didn't know where he could find such goods in Zerdargia. He only smoked with Charime but never took up the habit although it was tempting. Time passed and nothing special happened to Norin for the first part that he spent in Zerdargia.

Chapter 2: Norin in Zerdargia (Part II)
Then, something happened. Something horrible happened within the walls of Zerdargia. Murders of innocent people, murders commited by someone trying to frame the Vissy. Norin was part of the guards who intercepted the murder in the streets. At first the Veldar thought that it was Vissy who were killing innocent people but they soon found out that it was someone else. The Veldar followed a blood trail out to a hidden cave in the wilderness where two spellcasters attacked the Veldar. Inside the cave was a large group of orcs who were slain at the cost of many Veldar. Still, the blood trail didn't explain why the Vissy were being framed, and even more strangely, according to one of the dying orcs, the Vissy were being framed by other Vissy. Through the time he spent in Zerdargia after his first adventure, he encountered yet another dwarf named Marcus. Then, the pattern was over and a new year emerged with a terrible sign in the sky. It was a clear night sky gone wrong. Norin was busy with the murder in the streets and now also this strange symbol in the sky. He also noticed that he had economic problems since the Veldar didn't apparently paid him anything. Therefore, he sold his house at the Aedile's office. After he had sold his hold at the Aedile's he continued with his investigations on the Symbol of Rak in the clear night sky which had gone wrong. While doing so he bumped into his friend Veleraen once more who introduced him to Links. The two never bonded and short after meeting Links, Norin was left to do what he was trying to. He needed equipment for his investigation about the Symbol of Rak and thus went to the B&D Anvil. Norin returned to the Veldar Compound to ask for leave to investigate the Sigil of Rak but was not allowed. Sergeant Setik told him that others were tracking the Symbol of Rak and that Norin had to report for his advance training. The first night after the advanced training Norin experienced once more the life at the barracks and thought that the soldiers were mostly very isolated. Norin put on his armour one day and equiped himself with his new equipment and patrolled the city. While doing so he ran into a dracon called Jacques and a dwarf called Morli. Jacques pursued a dracon's revenge against Morli although Norin was sure that Morli was innocent until he made a run for it. Norin was assisted by a katta called Tiala. They failed though and Morli escaped. One day, as Norin was doing some physical exercises within the Veldar Compound, a man came screaming for help. Apparently, two dracons had gone through a portal and needed healing. Norin assisted as well as he could and the two dracons survived. After his advanced training, Norin sought some work as a singer at Omally's tavern. He was so happy when Omally gave him the position that he went out into the streets to find a drum and make an announcement. Unfortunately, he never found a drum and the only person he met was a dwarf called Giv. He chickened out and didn't perform that first time. He thought that he needed more training before he ever returned to the tavern and thus began his intermediate singing training. By the end of the month of Optia Era X PF, Norin decided to begin his search for Dargis, the legendary city of dwarves, the father of Zerdargia. He started out by going to the library. That was when Norin found out along with Veleraen that he needed a vacation. Together, they went up to Sergeant Setik and told him that everything comes to an end. Sergeant Setik didn't want to lose his soldiers and gave them two months of holiday, the summer was their vacation and both went their seperate ways. Norin started his journey by going to the gates where he asked the guards for assistance but they were not helpful and thus Norin,s journey home started.

Chapter 3: Norin in Primus Gaudeo
Norin arrived at the Doli Gates of Primus Gaudeo and was let into his home city. He didn't know what he was doing there or what he had planned for his vacations and thus he went straight to the Silver Drake Inn and Tavern. Here he met Dog who went back into the wilderness with Norin to find Dargis together.

Chapter 4: Norin in Zerdargia (Part III)
Norin returned to Zerdargia after his visit to Primus Gaudeo and rejoined the Veldar Elite. He was given Intermediate Axe training, which lasted the rest of the month of Junctior. He also returned to Omally's Tavern to ask for forgiveness and he was given forgiveness immediately and even another opportunity to perform in the tavern. He performed with a dwarven harpist called Rongar. It was amazing for Norin, an experience in itself. The brightening after his concert, Norin bumped into Veleraen since he was back in town. Together they sat down at Omally's and told each other what they had done during the summer. Norin had no tales to tell but Veleraen had a long story. The brightening after, Norin held his second concert. A few brightenings later, Norin went to the streets to seek what he had lost several months ago. He had lost someone and was now searching for Morli. After his search for Morli, Norin and Veleraen teamed up and began patrolling for them badguys.

Chapter 5: The Zerdargian Siege
In the beginning of Kalendryas Norin helped In the Defence of Zerdargia. He was assigned as Commanding Sergeant to defend the northern gate of the city. He was assigned to a small squadron of two archers and half a dozen infantry along with two other soldiers known as Troy and Baldor. They successfully reinforced the gates and then were assigned to search for a portal from which the enemy secretly entered the city. It wasn't long before Norin had to make a choice between investigating a new threat and engage the enemy around the magical portal. Norin decided to bring his squadron towards the Shadow Gate. The Veldar moved through the city and were containing the enemies, slaying most. Many Veldar also perished and it wasn't long before Norin had lost his squadron. Then a burst of arcana created a whirlwind that ravaged through the city of Zerdargia. Norin risked his life to save two spellcasters, but with his experience and equipment he got them safely back to the other Veldar who were trying to keep the enemies contained. This part of Zerdargia was safe so the Veldar Elite retreated back to their compound. Here another Shadow Gate had been opened and Norin had lost his entire squadron. He had no choice but to resume his position as soldier and help with the general attack against this second portal. However, a secret mission had been set up and along with a few other people, Norin was sent to the Thanal Palace.

Chapter 6: The Journey to Zinn'Sunn
After the war of Zerdargia, Norin stayed with the Veldar for a few months to rebuild the city. Already before the war, he had decided to completely leave the army. He had taken a vacation in search for Dargis, but he had learned that he was not the kind of person who was made to live the life of a soldier. He was an entertainer, or at least that was something he could still try. He heard rumours about Zinn'Sunn in Omally's tavern and it was long before he arrived to Zinn'Sunn after his resignation from the Veldar Elite in Zerdargia. On his journey, he stayed in Acumin. He came to Acumin's entrance filled with weariness and hunger. He quickly found his way to The Sooty Cavern Tavern and Inn. After he had spent a cycle in Acumin, and even performed, he continued and four brightenings of travel brought him to Natura. He wandered through Natura for candlemarks before he encountered The Pickled Porcupine Inn and Tavern where he decided to stay. When he continued his journey towards Zinn'Sunn he went from Natura to Riparia. He came to The Gates of Riparia where he was directed to the Silver Dagger inn and tavern by the Riparian Guards there.

Chapter 7: Norin in Zinn'Sunn
It took Norin nearly a month to journey from Zerdargia to Zinn'Sunn but at the end of Imperos he finally Arrived to Zinn'Sunn. He planned his first few brightenings. He had many things to do but he started by going to a tavern. It took him some time but he finally Arrived to the Song and Sage Tavern. Norin bought a house in Zinn’Sunn and settled down. He applied for musical training but was rejected and thus forced to find a simple job to maintain his lifestyle. He continuously applied for musical training until he received a letter from his friend Brottori. He then prepared for the long journey to Zerdargia.

Chapter 8: The Quest for Zerdargia
Once he was ready, Norin went to the Wolfmoon Inn, where warm bodies, loud music, old sage persisted. Afterwards, it was time for his long journey. He started off by walking from Zinn'Sunn to Natura, following the road. It took him 7 brightenings to reach the Pickled Porcupine inn and tavern. Brightenings later, Norin finally got to Return to Zerdargia. First he bought back his hold, Norin's Hold and then he went to the Veldar compound and reenlisted. Once that was done, he crept into his delapidated home to sleep. During the next two brightenings he would both work on hiring people to fix his home, but also prove to Lieutenant Letram of the Veldar Elite, that Norin was worthy of the title of Sergeant of the Nightwatch. After he had been approved as the Sergeant of the Nightwatch, Norin got Sergeant Cruger to go through basic survival skills in the Dolwoods. This training evolved into a full brightening of Survival in the Dolwoods. A cycle after his survival training, he started training with Lieutenant Letram. Thus it was that Norin The Axe Wielder began to expand his skills in the use of axes. After his training he resumed his post as Sergeant of the Nightwatch. During his first brightening without having to worry about his training, he was exposed to a Hostage Situation. After a while he truly started his quest for Zerdargia. He began at the Veldar compound, where he met up with Lieutenant Letram to discuss Commendations for the War. He planned the Zerdargian Festival and prepared everything, talking things over with Lieutenant Letram, Omally, the Aedile, and even the Governor of Centripax. Unfortunately, two important points were left out and the festival had to be postponed. He needed someone of importance to write in the Herald and send out invitations. He therefore wrote a letter to the Consul of the Northern Reaches in Aelyria Prime. As he returned to work and waited for help with the Zerdargian Festival, Norin saw his opportunity to take a detachment up into the northern mountains of Centripax and assist Sir Ered'Gard on a dangerous mission to retake the region from foul creatures and necromancers. He therefore brought six dwarves up to take care of the Forge. Unfortunately, one of the dwarves died on the journey during an ambush at night where Norin encountered the faery Sang'Nom. After their adventure in the mountains, Sang'Nom and Norin travelled down to the city of Natura in search of help. They both wanted to learn Song Magic, and only by opening the world of arcana would they be able to learn it.

Chapter 9: The Zerdargian Festival
Once the festival was prepared and the article had been posted in the Herald, countless messengers were sent out to deliver letters of invitation to those who fought in the war but were never rewarded. Norin delivered Raliric's letter personally at The Argent Sword Head Quarters. Aian Natra received a letter from a messenger at the Naturan Ranger Hall. Veleraen received a letter from a messenger in Aelyria Prime at the Imperial Citadel. The beginning of the Zerdargian Festival finally came. First, the people focused on Setting Up for the Festival. A Contests Sign Up Thread was posted for people to sign up for the contests during the festival. Accomodation for the Festival was set up and rented out for those who did not have residences in Zerdargia. A Giant Returned Home and thus Norin went to see his old friend Veleraen. Brightenings passed by as people prepared for the great festival ahead. The Aelyrian Market was the first and most attractive event that happened before the festival really started. Omally's Bars were set up to entertain the people of Zerdargia during the festival, and finally the long awaited brightening came. The Ceremony of the Zerdargian Festival was finally set up and began. During the festival, Norin met up with the fairies that he was going to offer Dark Business to.

Chapter 10: Senator Norin Beldwhig of Centripax
At the end of spring, Raliric set up A Meeting and Appointment with Norin to offer him the job of Senator of Centripax and Speaker of the Concordia Incola. Norin accepted the position. He stayed in Zerdargia for a few brightenings to get things in order with the Veldar Elite and prepare himself for the new lifestyle he was about to embark on, and prepare the rest of the Zerdargian Festival. When he was ready, he travelled to Primus Gaudeo. He visited Raliric at The Argent Sword Head Quarters where he delivered the official invitation to Raliric. The real reason Norin travelled to Primus Gaudeo was to settle into his new position. The first thing he did was set up the Office of the Senator and Speaker for Centripax. Shortly after settling into his new office, Norin had a political meeting with Lord Keldon Elsdragon, the Thane of Primus Gaudeo. When the time was right, Norin set out to travel across Centripax to hear the voice of the people so that he could do his job properly. On his journey he encountered Keaxa and Amrita. Sometimes It's For The Best.

Chapter 11: Ambassador Norin Beldwhig
Ordinations had passed since Norin's time in Primus Gaudeo. When he had returned to Zerdargia, it was in a bad shape after the war. He had lost his house and Omally's was nowhere to be found. Times had changed, Dargis had been found. Norin wasn't as extatic about it as he had thought he would be. It was the home of his ancestors, home to those that came before his clan. He decided to join Clan Weatherstone and settle down on their land. He met Thane Weatherstone and spent some time catching up and getting to know his clan a bit better. He was given the choice of joining the Veldar Elite or become the ambassador of the dwarves. He decided to take the position as ambassador, but still be part of the Veldar as a reservist. He therefore went to the Veldar Elite Recruitment Center. One brightening, as Norin wandered through the centre of Zerdargia, he was pulled into the game of "lottery", The Grand Premiere! of it. In the beginning of Kalendryas, after he had made a career choice, he inspected the Goldbrick Theater hoping to find a place where he could work on his hobby, singing. He was also called to a meeting of the Council of Four, concerning A Royal Visit on the last brightening of Kalendryas. This meeting escalated to Thane Weatherstone Mustering the Veldar Elite. A Command Guard for the Prince was formed where Norin was given his specific role for the duration of the prince's stay in Zerdargia. Norin also Registered for the 2nd Annual Zerdargian Games. At the end of Kalendryas, he departed towards Dargis to take his diplomacy courses with Laird Greyholme in Dargis. He started by going to the City Gates to find a caravan that he could travel with to the Entrance to Dargis. Once he arrived to Dargis, he made his way to the palace where he would begin his Basic Diplomacy training under the tutolage of Laird Greyholme. On the last brightening of Kalendryas, Zerdargia Welcomed the Prince. After the arrival of His Royal Highness, Negotiations Started for a treaty between the dwarves and the sovereignty. Then the everlasting winter began. At first there were only signs of spring while Norin was Preparing for the Concert. One early brightening, Norin experienced something strange near the Lottery Offices. As time passed, the signs of the eternal winter started manifesting themselves. It erupted especially during the Zerdargian Game where Norin was part of the Drinking Contest where he was disqualified for spilling his ale, Singing Contest where he ended up in a draw with Sanda, and Axe Throwing Contest where he won with a heroic last throw against an unnatural hailstorm. At the end of the festival there was a Party where he performed a concert with Miss Elisabeth Juliette de Leonardes. During the month of Melora something More Precious than Gold was stolen from Zerdargia. Its food supply had been taken during the everlasting winter. In the month of Ponutis, Norin went through his Basic Leadership courses given by the Veldar Elite for his position as Captain. Cycles into the Everlasting Winter, a Meeting of Minds about Magic and Winter was called. Norin was tasked to oversee the Evacuation of Harding to ensure the safety of the halfling inhabitants. At the end of Immanis during the eternal winter, a horrible crime was committed. Norin answered the Mustering Duty of every Veldar Elite to respond to this criminal action. In the month of Optia, Norin's leadership training continued. He was sent to Arieldia's School of Music Arts where he learned Bardism. It had become a requirement that the officers of the Veldar Elite learned arcana. He didn't focus on the Veldar Elite however, instead he had a meeting with the Council of Four concerning his position as ambassador. It was decided that he stationed in Primus Gaudeo. He held a farewell party before he journeyd to Primus Gaudeo.

Chapter 12: Ambassador in Primus Gaudeo
When Norin arrived to Primus Gaudeo, he travelled through the Phoenix Gates. Norin worked in Primus Gaudeo for thirteen years before something moved his life in a new direction.

Songs and Music

Gyarmon & the Troll-Bane Blade
A song I shall now sing
From the Age of Darkening
In the Empire of Aelyria
There were heroes adventuring

Gyarmon is the hero of this tale
And it is not as grim as the moon is pale
For with this tale comes his mighty Troll-Bane sword
With which it is impossible to fail

Galeron from Aelyria Prime in the days of old
Journeyed out with Karteth and Gilead with gold
That brought them all three to the Charisma Pass
Where they met Gyarmon as north they strolled

The pass was closed but Gyarmon came to their aid
Only with the retrieval of a precious heirloom he got paid
Dolwood was their aim
But Daltina was where Gyarmon them laid

Over Khadrans he them brought
To find his heirloom which he sought
It was guarded by Trolls
And they could not be fought

They slipped into the cave at night
Through a hole in the roof out of sight
And beheld the Troll-Bane sword
All admired the blade of might

Fire leaping from the sword
And into the cave came the Troll hoard
Galeron and Gyarmon fought them off
Only Troll-Bane cut through the Troll lord

All strategically withdrew out of the cave and into the light
The cave was blocked with the help of nature’s height
For an avalanche was called for
Alas the trolls still came out without a fright

All fled but Gyarmon and the Troll-Bane blade
Hours passed as they all waited for the night to fade
Then came Gyarmon with broken ankle
And supported by a splint but Troll-Bane blade still his aid

The Heavens
Fear is the sun. The light. Carried by the watchman in daily traverse. Great is the light of his torch, it conceals his presence. Fear is the moon. It's ghostly light. It's grey scarred surface, a spoiled gem. Bring me a jewel from the nightsky. One that twinkles in the wathcmans light as he walks behind the world and set it upon my tomb.

The Ballad of Frathir's Beard
Oh, the tale of which I will sing,
Has a very ancient beginning,
It was way back when in the mists of time,
When dwarves were bold and women were women.

Oh, Frathir was young and hearty,
And a bold young dwarf was he,
He only had one manly failing,
His face was as smooth as smooth can be.

Frathir, Frathir, the beardless dwarf,
How could he woo the lasses?
Frathir, Frathir, his life was sad,
He lost himself deep in glasses.

Now Frathir needed to solve this,
He must become more hairy,
He needed to grow a big bushy beard,
To make himself more scary.

He thought about his problem,
Of how to grow more hair,
To make the maidens notice him,
So he could put it there.

Frathir, Frathir, he had an itch,
One that he couldn't scratch,
Frathir, Frathir, needed a... maid,
But his face it needed a thatch!

Now Frathir thought he had a way,
To make his beard grow thicker,
He'd rub his chin with horse manure,
From a basket made of whicker.

Frathir bent to get the stuff,
But the ale did make him drunk,
He tipped himself into the pot,
And into the mire he sunk.

Frathir, Frathir, the poor dead dwarf,
Only wanted a maiden,
Frathir, Frathir, lost his life,
Drowning in a midden.

Incident at the Fire Caves
Near Aslan's Forge in decades past,
Ther', a Veldar patrol was sent,
They walked and ran to get there fast,
They drank water, which was not meant.

The drinking water was sour,
The L.T. wouldn't lose his group,
He met an old hag with power,
To create a cure to the soup.

They all went to the Fire Cave,
Wherein lay a small wooden box,
Containing that, which was to save,
The whole patrol and not the rocks.

Cave of fire is a crisis,
Tongues of flame would roar through the hall,
Making people smell as spices,
If one would try then one would fall.

A hobbit came to save his team,
Spoke he did before he sprinted,
Into hell and out of a dream,
Succeeded before he feinted.

His charred body was recovered,
The antidote lay in his guts,
The Halfling did this and suffered,
To save his fellow soldiers' buts.

The cure did indeed a fine job,
The entire patrol was cured,
The hobbit died without a sob,
And his friends made him rest assured.

Veldar Prayer
Praise be to our God
who trains our hands for war,
and our fingers for battle.
He is our loving God and our fortress,
our stronghold and our deliverer,
our shield, in whom we take refuge,
who subdues peoples under us.

Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy
shoot your arrows and rout them.
Reach down your hand from on high;
deliver us and rescue us
from the mighty waters,
from the hands of foreigners
whose mouths are full of lies,
whose right hands are deceitful.

Veldar Patrol
Fifty years ago,
A patrol was lost,
It went to Dolwood,
Where goblinoids fought.

Dead reptile bodies,
Filled the ground with blood,
They slew the leader,
The rest were wounded.

Goblins were winning,
So, the patrol fled,
They sneaked and escaped,
Victory brought joy.

Leader's body shown,
Headless through the woods,
The patrol was mad,
Next night, they slew all.

Journey Home
A long time ago in ages past,
There was a city that would not last,
It fell and disappeared under the soil,
And left no trace to spoil.

Time passed and dwarfs sought it again,
Two went south but found only pain,
They search'd their ancient home under the soil,
And left no trace to spoil.

The ancient home of dwarf culture,
The dwarfs sought it with all their fur,
They found nothing but the old dirty soil,
No trace were left to spoil.

Norin's Lullaby
Sleep tight my little child,
I'm touching your cradle,
Defend you against flies,
Call dreams to your young soul,
Sleep tight my little child.

Red rose of happiness,
Glows only between thorns,
The thorn I take for me,
The rose I keep for you,
Red rose of happiness.

Veleraen's Adventures
A friend left his town one bright brightening,
He went to Daltina to find someone,
He sought Nashkel Angor of Daltina,
Leader of the Keepers of the Summit,
Leader of the Keepers of the Suuu... mmit.

As he left he stumbled across Veldars,
They were fighting the dead who had risen,
The undead were pulling bones from the ground,
So Veleraen joined the fight with his friends,
So Veleraen joined the fight with hiii... s friends.

Dark Horizon
Oh far behind the great world,
Dark paths into the dark horizon,
Through darkness, through the evil of night,
And all the stars they shall be veiled,
Night and darkness,
Star and shadow,
All shall fail, all shall fade.

Here, Kitty Kitty
I saw a cat upon a shelf
Being eaten by an elf
And yet it didn't call for helf
Which I don't understand, myself

Here, Kitty, kitty
O where is Kitty, kitty?
The mice all play this ditty
'cause Kitty's gone away

The elf was busily at work
Carving kitty up like pork
Eating it with knife and fork
While sucking wine out of a cork!

Here, Kitty, kitty
O where is Kitty, kitty?
The mice all play this ditty
'cause Kitty's gone away

And once the cat ran out of life
The elf cleaned off his fork and knife
Then, to avoid domestic strife
He took the rest home for his wife.

Here, Kitty, kitty
O where is Kitty, kitty?
The mice all play this ditty
'cause Kitty's gone away

cause Kitty's gone awaaaaaaay!

The Little Boy
The Little Boy to the war he went,
In the hall of the dead he was sent,
His father's sword he did hold tight,
And on his back was harp of light.

Land of Song! said the warrior bard,
Though all the world betrays thee,
One sword, at least, they rights shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!

The Small Boy fell! But the foeman's spear,
Could not bring that proud soul fear,
The harp he loved will tell no more tale,
For the foeman made the chords fail.

Land of Song! said the warrior bard,
Though all the world betrays thee,
One sword, at least, they rights shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!

No spear shall ever sully thee,
Thy songs were made for the pure and free,
Thou soul of love and bravery,
They shall never sound in slavery!

Land of Song! said the warrior bard,
Though all the world betrays thee,
One sword, at least, they rights shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!

Revive
This song is different than other songs in that a description is extremely important so the below text is not only the lyrics but also a description of the music.

The music started off with a single hit on a beep drum. The vibrating bass sound was accompanied by a woman sighing. When the sound was about to disappear a second hit was heard and the woman sighed again. This was repeated two more times before a second drum joined the music. The latter drum had a rhythm of two short and three long notes. After four more sighs from the woman, a third drum took the place of the first drum. This drum made a loud light sound. Again, the woman sighed four times before the second drum picked up pace. The time was cut in half. The music was building up nicely, until the woman had sighed three more times. Then, no drums could be heard, and the woman’s fourth sigh seemed louder than any of her previous sighs.

Two drums, with the same octaves as the second drum, took up the music after the sigh. They both played different rhythms at high pace. Then the drums stopped again, and this time Norin let out a deep and sensual sigh. Right after the sigh, the drums started again, pumping up the room with music and adrenaline. This kind of pause appeared again once. The third time the music changed completely.

The light drum was played at the same pace as the two previous drums, which were silent now. Norin began singing in a fast and deep voice. His voice was as light as he could make it, but it was still a bass voice. This kind of rhythm and music inspired people to dance closely and the sweat in the room mounted with the closeness of the dancing.

Kin’s call
I can
No sight of dwarf man
Some there
Sittin’ there
Scared by the strong bear
Turn down beers
Downtown minimizes
Slimmest biggest fingers grows
Big words spreads the word
Zerdargia must be saved from its fall

The last sentence was repeated eight times with the light drum being hit at a slower pace. The music picked up speed and it was hard not to dance. Then the drum stopped and the last sentence could be heard clearly again.

Zerdargia must be saved from its fall

The two usual drums resumed their music with Norin singing the last sentence over and over again as background sound. Then the two usual drums stopped and the last sentence could be heard clearly yet again.

Zerdargia must be saved from its fall

As the two drums resumed their usual pace, Norin started singing his second verse.

I trip
Found it
Face down
Outside
Treated lies

The music stopped.

Dead nature on my spires

The music resumed.

Meanwhile
Some time
Rogues in the night
Total trick
With some I fix
Absurd

As the last sentence was sung only one of the drums were hit. Then it stopped and the light drum could be heard in the background as Norin sighed. The two usual drums took up the music. It went completely wild. Adrenalin and sweat pumped through the close wild dancing. The light seemed to swerve and dance with the music as heads and bodies bounced from side to side and up and down. It was hard to resist. The last and shortest verse was suddenly sung in a quiet pause held by the drums.

Big birds spreads the word
Zerdargia must be saved from its fall

After the last verse, all the drums available hit the real climax of the song. Norin continuously sang out the last sentence over and over again. Suddenly he fell silent and only the light drum could be heard. After a while, the light drum abruptly stopped and Norin sighed. It was followed by the woman’s sigh, which was longer than her previous sighs. Then the song ended.

Zevon's Song
Saw a werewolf with a Kemite menu in his hand
Walking through the streets of Primus Gaudeo in the rain
He was looking for a place called Lee Ho Frik's
Going to get himself a big dish of Beef Chow Mein
Werewolves of Primus

If you hear him howling around your kitchen door
Better not let him in
Little old lady got mutilated late last night
Werewolves of Primus again
Werewolves of Primus

He's the hairy-handed gent who ran amuck in Riperia
Lately he's been overheard on the Kings Road
Better stay away from him
He'll rip your lungs out, boy
I'd like to meet his tailor
Werewolves of Primus

Well, I saw Ambergois walking with the empress
Doing the
I saw Ambergois. walking with the empress
Doing the
I saw a werewolf drinking a Pina Colada at The Silver Drake
His hair was perfect
Werewolves of Primus
Draw blood!

The City Watch of Zerdargia are divided up into three squadrons. Each squadron has their own personal schedule. These can be very flexible, except for the patrol candlemarks. The following are the schedules for the various watches while Norin was Sergeant of the Nightwatch.

0500 - Assembly
0530 - Breakfast
0630 - Patrol
1530 - Lunch
1630 - Training
1800 - Lecture
1900 - Debriefing + cleaning

2200 – Lecture (His squadron has one lecture, and Norin has lectures concerning his training threads)
2300 – Patrol
0700 – Debriefing and cleaning
0800 – Dismiss and breakfast
0900 – Sleep (if not a bit earlier)

The Veldar Elite regiment is responsible for law and order in and around Zerdargia. of a city is responsible for law and order around their hometown. A certain division of the Veldar Elite is commonly set to patrol out a short distance (up to 3 miles) for a one-day patrol, or a very long distance (up to 20 miles) for a several day patrol on foot or a mounted patrol. The City Watch division is set to patrol within the city walls.

It should be noted that, unlike the cultural norm, soldiers tend to eat three meals instead of two. This is because the heavy physical exercise they endure requires more food more often.

Organizational Structure
  • Patrol/Detachment = 5-10 Soldiers
  • Squadron = 2-4 Detachments = 20 Soldiers; Commanded by a Sergeant
  • Division = 5-12 Squadrons = 100-240 Soldiers; Commanded by a Lieutenant
  • Battalion = 2-5 Divisions = 200-1200 Soldiers; Commanded by a Captain
  • Regiment = 3-7 Battalions = 600-8400 Soldiers; Commanded by a Commander (Veldar Elite)
  • Legion = 2-4 Regiments = 1200-33600 Soldiers; Commanded by a General (Veldar Legion)
  • Army = 2+ Legions = minimum 2400 Soldiers; Commanded by a Army Marshal (Aelyrian Army)
  • In command of all forces everywhere is the Imperial Marshal. This soldier is answerable to no one except the Emperor himself.

Veldar Elite (I'm guessing here)
  • 1 Regiment = 1 Commander - 0/1 (Commander)
  • 3 Battalions = 3 Captains - 2/3 (Captain Harri Gremmel, Captain Hammersmith)
  • 6 Divisions = 6 Lieutenants - 2/6 (Lt. Marc Letram, Lt. Hubbard Thromdor)
  • 72 Squadrons = 72 Sergeants - 15/72 (Sgt. Beldwhig, Sgt. Bentrock, Sgt. Bornal, Sgt. Bywater, Sgt. Cruger, Sgt. Daglas, Sgt. Dormit, Sgt. Freen, Sgt. Gorin, Sgt. Habron, Sgt. Ironbreaker, Sgt. Krepsbah, Sgt. Mercer, Sgt. Mordekai, Sgt. Setik)
  • 288 Detachments = 2880 Soldiers - 0/2880 (Private)
  • 1 Lieutenant
    Secrets :
Lieutenant Marc Letram of the Town Patrol:
Letram is a sturdy man with a big barrel chest. A rather intimidating figure in his chainmail armor and broadaxe as he stands a full 5 feet tall, much taller than the average dwarf. As Division Commander of the Town Watch, his job is to help police the town and act as an Aelyrian version of a SWAT team in a crisis. His 5 squadrons rotate around the city on patrol and to be on the Town Watch is to have a knowledge of the city unmatched by all except the street children

  • 4 Sergeants
    Secrets :
Division Sergeant Caleb Cruger of the Town Patrol:
Cruger is a no- nonsense sort of man with little patience (think Andy Sipowitz from NYPD Blue in chainmail). He appears fat and sloppy, with his hair almost always unkempt. (but he has a keen intellect and is not above striking a suspect to get to the truth. When he turns mean, people start to get very intimidated by him

  • Sergeant Beldwhig, Town Patrol (Nightwatch)
  • Sergeant Bywater, Town Patrol (Morningwatch + a hobbit)
  • Sergeant Dormit, Town Patrol (Eveningwatch)
  • Corporal Yelin of the Nightwatch, Town Patrol
  • Corporal Xor of the Watch (Nightwatch), Town Patrol
  • Private Axehand (senior)
  • Private Axehand (junior)
    Secrets :
Private Dorar Blackwall - First Detachment
This tall, fat, and stocky dwarf has very pale skin. His old age can be distinguished by his facial expressions. His red beard goes down to a point and he has nothing more than a short ponytail on his head. Dorar is probably the oldest dwarf in his detachment, as well as the tallest and fattest.

  • Private Coalier
    Secrets :
Private Thori Drorn - First Detachment
Thori is the most aggressive member of his detachment. He’s a bald and pale dwarf with a wide white beard. He is not only physically aggressive but also verbally aggressive, and he quickly jumps to conclusions and would rather solve problems through brute force than try and talk things through.

  • Private Farzgak
    Secrets :
    Private Dwak Fororn
This relatively slender, yet stocky small dwarf was much tanned. His wrinkled skin revealed experience in his field, although he didn’t have any real war scars. His beard and hair was short and hassle brown. He had tied whatever hair he had into knots. He was an extremely agile and fast dwarf, an expert marksman, and part of Sergeant Norin Beldwhig’s squadron, the Nightwatch of Zerdargia.

  • Private Hammersmith
  • Private Iron
  • Private Jitters
    Secrets :
Private Faror Kelon - First Detachment
This fat dwarf is balding. His beige hair hangs on the lower parts of his head but what he lacks on his head he makes up on his beard. He’s probably the nicest dwarf of the detachment. He’s the one who makes sure that Private Drorn doesn’t do anything stupid. Even though he seems nice, he might be too jolly from time to time and do inappropriate things at the wrong time.

    Secrets :
Private Nalor Nailfoot - First Detachment
This young and average dwarf has long smooth brown hair and a pointy beard. He’s the quiet type of dwarf who is still gaining life experience. The exact reason why he joined the Veldar Elite is a complete mystery, but what he seems to lack in confidence and personality he makes up in courage and bravery.

  • Private Obd
    Secrets :
Private Bin Throrn - First Detachment
Private Throrn has a personality that closely resembles that of Private Kelon although Bin knows when to keep quiet. Still, he’s not as charismatic as Faror and therefore usually stays out of Thori’s way. His large grey beard and long pony tail show his older age, but he’s clearly not as old as Private Blackwall.

  • Private Ugin
  • Private Wall
  • Private Ygar
  • Private Ylor
  • Private Zar
  • Private Zircon

Dwarven Clan

Beldwhig Clan
Abstract Description
The Beldwhig clan is an extended family of dwarfs whom are all related and descended from one progenitor, and who all regard themselves as kinsmen. The Beldwhig clan have sworn allegiance to their Laird Bor Beldwhig, Norin's father, who lives in Primus Gaudeo. A Laird is a hereditary position of leadership that is usually passed from father to son, in exchange for a level of protection offered by their clan.

Clan System
The clan system of the clan of Beldwhig is very small and simple in comparison to other dwarf clans. Explaining the clan system of the Beldwhig clan will still take any non-dwarf patterns to even begin to decipher and understand. To begin with, it is important to understand that dwarf clans is a large part of dwarf society, since it has existed before the Aelyrian Empire. As an old saying goes "Blood is thicker than Ale".

The Beldwhig clan is a minor clan. It was founded after the loss of Dargis and has not grown a lot since. It was founded by a couple who didn't know what clan they belonged to and thus created their own. Through the generations, the clan has given away quite a few females to other clans and has only barely survived. They didn't help to rebuild the new city of Dargis known as Zerdargia but instead chose to travel to Primus Gaudeo where they settled. The only reason the Beldwhig clan has been able to survive over the past few generations is because of the large city of Primus Gaudeo and the protection from the Aelyrian Empire. Without these, the minor clan would not have lasted long without being part of a major clan for protection.

Leadership
The Beldwhig clan has the same kind of leadership as any other dwarf clan, that of a patriarchal Laird, who has advisors of kinsmen and trusted allies. The role of a Laird is to provide protection, not only to his own people, but also to his sworn allies such as "minor" clans, to the state against any warlike neighbouring nations and to his race against the oppression of the strong. Lairds are typically hereditary within the clans, though given their long lives the likely successor, barring accident or war, is known long beforehand. Dissatisfaction with the new or potential Laird is one of the causes behind the formation of new clans. Clans are family to the dwarfes and the creation of a new clan is a traumatic experience for all involved, something that is not done lightly. Indeed such is the trauma that wise Lairds have been known to change the succession or for "accidents" to befall unpopular successors.

Family Loyalties
Many females from the Beldwhig clan has been married away, mostly to clans in Primus Gaudeo. These are both major and minor clans, giving the Beldwhig clan a complex web of family alliances. These alliances are made more complex by a change of fealty because this will be followed by new marriages between the newly allied clans, cementing the relationship with ties of blood. This is where the apparent simplicity of the clan system becomes hard to understand as a complex web of personal and family loyalties overlies it. It is not unknown for changes of fealty between clans to result in Grudges where decisions by Lairds mean that family members are dragged into decisions that counter the family bonds. This means that some alliances that the Beldwhig clan once had, don't exist anymore. Many of these also exist, which make the entire loyalty of dwarf clans even more complex.

Bardism

Meditation
The Power to Meditate enables a mage to completely clear his mind and reach a heightened trance and project his inner self into the outer limits. This takes time for the inexperienced, but through practice and purpose, a mage will be able to meditate as if second-nature. The time it takes to enter a trance takes 5-10 minutes.

Until personal lyrics have been written, Norin has learned Amarillo's songs. Norin uses his voice to cast Bardism.

Aelyrian Anthem
The Imperial March of the Aelyrian Empire, also the Royal March of the Kingdom of Aelyria, written originally by High Queen Melody de Lylles, is the stirring national anthem of the Aelyrian Nation. When played by a bard, it invokes the spirit of glory causing two notable changes in the party about the musician: combat skills will be executed with greater haste and efficiency, and everyone will find themselves stronger and more determined to proceed with morale.

The Chant of Conquest
Emperor Constantine's Chant of Conquest is actually a spirited march that heightens the soul. So long as it is played, the bard's party will find themselves having increased military reflexes, higher strength, greater dexterity and endurance, and most significantly, a more aggressive and patriotic attitude.

Cinthera's Accelerando
Sincopated rhythms are the trademark of this eternal classic written by a Medonian princess. When played, Cinthera's Accelerando enables the party with the bard to travel at an increased pace and accelerated velocity.

Healer's Hymn
Soothing praise of the gods and nature, the Healer's Hymn is a graceful tune that causes a light healing aura to descend upon the party and regenerate the life force by closing wounds and stimulating the body to engage in accelerated mending.

Lullaby for Leland
Named after one of the Aelyria's earliest Viceroys, the Lullaby for Leland is a tranquil song that is played to provide comfort, security and an aura of safety to those seeking rest. Monstrous creatures and most beasts will not attack a camp sanctified by the lullaby, and those that sleep to its graceful song will awaken refreshed.

Scales of Dissonance

An ear-piercing scream of alternating, opposing chords that rivet up and down the scales creates one of the most cacophonous, but simplest, pieces of music known. Similar to the stoning of a heretic, the Scales of Dissonance will produce a wave of light pummeling damage for the duration that it is played in an area of effect designated by the performer of this dreadful piece.
